We define the concept of weighted lattice polynomial functions as lattice polynomial functions constructed from both variables and parameters. We provide equivalent forms of these functions in an arbitrary bounded distributive lattice. We also show that these functions include the class of discrete Sugeno integrals and that they are characterized by a median-based decomposition formula.  相似文献

In this paper, we obtain a generalized Lucas polynomial sequence from the lattice paths for the Delannoy numbers by allowing weights on the steps (1,0),(0,1) and (1,1). These weighted lattice paths lead us to a combinatorial interpretation for such a Lucas polynomial sequence. The concept of Riordan arrays is extensively used throughout this paper.  相似文献

In this paper, we give some polynomial approximation results in a class of weighted Sobolev spaces, which are related to the Jacobi operator. We further give some embeddings of those weighted Sobolev spaces into usual ones and into spaces of continuous functions, in order to use the above approximation results in the p‐version (or the spectral method) of some finite or boundary element methods. Finally, two typical examples of the polynomial approximation of some singularities of boundary value problems in polygonal or polyhedral domains are presented.  相似文献

We introduce a new construction algorithm for digital nets for integration in certain weighted tensor product Hilbert spaces. The first weighted Hilbert space we consider is based on Walsh functions. Dick and Pillichshammer calculated the worst-case error for integration using digital nets for this space. Here we extend this result to a special construction method for digital nets based on polynomials over finite fields. This result allows us to find polynomials which yield a small worst-case error by computer search. We prove an upper bound on the worst-case error for digital nets obtained by such a search algorithm which shows that the convergence rate is best possible and that strong tractability holds under some condition on the weights.

We extend the results for the weighted Hilbert space based on Walsh functions to weighted Sobolev spaces. In this case we use randomly digitally shifted digital nets. The construction principle is the same as before, only the worst-case error is slightly different. Again digital nets obtained from our search algorithm yield a worst-case error achieving the optimal rate of convergence and as before strong tractability holds under some condition on the weights. These results show that such a construction of digital nets yields the until now best known results of this kind and that our construction methods are comparable to the construction methods known for lattice rules.

We conclude the article with numerical results comparing the expected worst-case error for randomly digitally shifted digital nets with those for randomly shifted lattice rules.

Previously we showed that many invariants of a graph can be computed from its abstract induced subgraph poset, which is the isomorphism class of the induced subgraph poset, suitably weighted by subgraph counting numbers. In this paper, we study the abstract bond lattice of a graph, which is the isomorphism class of the lattice of distinct unlabelled connected partitions of a graph, suitably weighted by subgraph counting numbers. We show that these two abstract posets can be constructed from each other except in a few trivial cases. The constructions rely on certain generalisations of a lemma of Kocay in graph reconstruction theory to abstract induced subgraph posets. As a corollary, trees are reconstructible from their abstract bond lattice. We show that the chromatic symmetric function and the symmetric Tutte polynomial of a graph can be computed from its abstract induced subgraph poset. Stanley has asked if every tree is determined up to isomorphism by its chromatic symmetric function. We prove a counting lemma, and indicate future directions for a study of Stanley's question.  相似文献

In this paper we study construction algorithms for polynomial lattice rules modulo arbitrary polynomials. Polynomial lattice rules are a special class of digital nets which yield well distributed point sets in the unit cube for numerical integration.Niederreiter obtained an existence result for polynomial lattice rules modulo arbitrary polynomials for which the underlying point set has a small star discrepancy and recently Dick, Leobacher and Pillichshammer introduced construction algorithms for polynomial lattice rules modulo an irreducible polynomial for which the underlying point set has a small (weighted) star discrepancy.In this work we provide construction algorithms for polynomial lattice rules modulo arbitrary polynomials, thereby generalizing the previously obtained results. More precisely we use a component-by-component algorithm and a Korobov-type algorithm. We show how the search space of the Korobov-type algorithm can be reduced without sacrificing the convergence rate, hence this algorithm is particularly fast. Our findings are based on a detailed analysis of quantities closely related to the (weighted) star discrepancy.  相似文献

Recently V. Krushkal and D. Renardy generalized the Tutte polynomial from graphs to cell complexes. We show that evaluating this polynomial at the origin gives the number of cellular spanning trees in the sense of A. Duval, C. Klivans, and J. Martin. Moreover, after a slight modification, the Tutte–Krushkal–Renardy polynomial evaluated at the origin gives a weighted count of cellular spanning trees, and therefore its free term can be calculated by the cellular matrix-tree theorem of Duval et al. In the case of cell decompositions of a sphere, this modified polynomial satisfies the same duality identity as the original polynomial. We find that evaluating the Tutte–Krushkal–Renardy along a certain line gives the Bott polynomial. Finally we prove skein relations for the Tutte–Krushkal–Renardy polynomial.  相似文献

We study the moments and the distribution of the discrete Choquet integral when regarded as a real function of a random sample drawn from a continuous distribution. Since the discrete Choquet integral includes weighted arithmetic means, ordered weighted averaging functions, and lattice polynomial functions as particular cases, our results encompass the corresponding results for these aggregation functions. After detailing the results obtained in [J.-L. Marichal, I. Kojadinovic, Distribution functions of linear combinations of lattice polynomials from the uniform distribution, Statistics & Probability Letters 78 (2008) 985–991] in the uniform case, we present results for the standard exponential case, show how approximations of the moments can be obtained for other continuous distributions such as the standard normal, and elaborate on the asymptotic distribution of the Choquet integral. The results presented in this work can be used to improve the interpretation of discrete Choquet integrals when employed as aggregation functions.  相似文献

We use the residue theorem to derive an expression for the number of lattice points in a dilated n-dimensional tetrahedron with vertices at lattice points on each coordinate axis and the origin. This expression is known as the Ehrhart polynomial. We show that it is a polynomial in t, where t is the integral dilation parameter. We prove the Ehrhart-Macdonald reciprocity law for these tetrahedra, relating the Ehrhart polynomials of the interior and the closure of the tetrahedra. To illustrate our method, we compute the Ehrhart coefficient for codimension 2. Finally, we show how our ideas can be used to compute the Ehrhart polynomial for an arbitrary convex lattice polytope.  相似文献

Regular triangulations of products of lattice polytopes are constructed with the additional property that the dual graphs of the triangulations are bipartite. The (weighted) size difference of this bipartition is a lower bound for the number of real roots of certain sparse polynomial systems by recent results of Soprunova and Sottile [E. Soprunova, F. We study the problem of multivariate integration and the construction of good lattice rules in weighted Korobov spaces with general weights. These spaces are not necessarily tensor products of spaces of univariate functions. Sufficient conditions for tractability and strong tractability of multivariate integration in such weighted function spaces are found. These conditions are also necessary if the weights are such that the reproducing kernel of the weighted Korobov space is pointwise non-negative. The existence of a lattice rule which achieves the nearly optimal convergence order is proven. A component-by-component (CBC) algorithm that constructs good lattice rules is presented. The resulting lattice rules achieve tractability or strong tractability error bounds and achieve nearly optimal convergence order for suitably decaying weights. We also study special weights such as finite-order and order-dependent weights. For these special weights, the cost of the CBC algorithm is polynomial. Numerical computations show that the lattice rules constructed by the CBC algorithm give much smaller worst-case errors than the mean worst-case errors over all quasi-Monte Carlo rules or over all lattice rules, and generally smaller worst-case errors than the best Korobov lattice rules in dimensions up to hundreds. Numerical results are provided to illustrate the efficiency of CBC lattice rules and Korobov lattice rules (with suitably chosen weights), in particular for high-dimensional finance problems.  相似文献

We study polynomial crystallographic actions on the plane. These are properly discontinuous and cocompact actions, which are expressed by polynomial functions. We prove that any such action of a polycyclic-by-finite group is of bounded degree and conversely that any polynomial crystallographic action of bounded degree comes from a polycyclic-by-finite group. This last result is a generalization of the well known Auslander conjecture.  相似文献

The function that counts the number of ways to place nonattacking identical chess or fairy chess pieces in a rectangular strip of fixed height and variable width, as a function of the width, is a piecewise polynomial which is eventually a polynomial and whose behavior can be described in some detail. We deduce this by converting the problem to one of counting lattice points outside an affinographic hyperplane arrangement, which Forge and Zaslavsky solved by means of weighted integral gain graphs. We extend their work by developing both generating functions and a detailed analysis of deletion and contraction for weighted integral gain graphs. For chess pieces we find the asymptotic probability that a random configuration is nonattacking, and we obtain exact counts of nonattacking configurations of small numbers of queens, bishops, knights, and nightriders.  相似文献

We approximate d-variate functions from weighted Korobov spaces with the error of approximation defined in the L sense. We study lattice algorithms and consider the worst-case setting in which the error is defined by its worst-case behavior over the unit ball of the space of functions. A lattice algorithm is specified by a generating (integer) vector. We propose three choices of such vectors, each corresponding to a different search criterion in the component-by-component construction. We present worst-case error bounds that go to zero polynomially with n ?1, where n is the number of function values used by the lattice algorithm. Under some assumptions on the weights of the function space, the worst-case error bounds are also polynomial in d, in which case we have (polynomial) tractability, or even independent of d, in which case we have strong (polynomial) tractability. We discuss the exponents of n ?1 and stress that we do not know if these exponents can be improved.  相似文献
