Performance evaluation is an importance issue in supply chain management. Yang et al. (Ann. Oper. Res. 38(6):195–211, 2011) defined two types of supply chain production possibility sets and proved the equivalence between them. Based on the sub-perfect CRS production possibility set, they proposed a supply chain DEA model to appraise the overall technical efficiency of supply chains. The relationship among efficiency scores of the proposed model, CCR models of system and subsystems are discussed. However, we find that the equivalence between the two types of supply chain production possibility sets is not correct. The proofs of their three theorems are all problematic. In this paper, we correct some results and give three new proofs.  相似文献

This paper extends the works by Olesen and Petersen (2003), Russell and Schworm (2006) and Cooper et al. (2007) about describing the efficient frontier of a production possibility set by the intersection of a finite number of closed halfspaces, in several ways. First, we decompose the efficient frontier into a smallest number of convex polyhedrons, or equivalently into a new class of efficient faces, called maximal efficient faces (MEFs). Second, we show how to identify all MEFs even if full dimensional efficient faces do not exist. Third, by applying the MEF decomposition to various real-world data sets, we demonstrate the validity of the MEF decomposition and how it can contribute to the DEA literature. Finally, we illustrate how to use the identified MEFs in practice.  相似文献

In data envelopment analysis (DEA), identification of the strong defining hyperplanes of the empirical production possibility set (PPS) is important, because they can be used for determining rates of change of outputs with change in inputs. Also, efficient hyperplanes determine the nature of returns to scale. The present work proposes a method for generating all linearly independent strong defining hyperplanes (LISDHs) of the PPS passing through a specific decision making unit (DMU). To this end, corresponding to each efficient unit, a perturbed inefficient unit will be defined and, using at most m+s linear programs, all LISDHs passing through the DMU will be determined, where m and s are the numbers of inputs and outputs, respectively.  相似文献

While traditional data envelopment analysis (DEA) models assess the relative efficiency of similar, independent decision making units (DMUs) centralized DEA models aim at reallocating inputs and outputs among the units setting new input and output targets for each one. This system point of view is appropriate when the DMUs belong to a common organization that allocates their inputs and appropriates their outputs. This intraorganizational perspective opens up the possibility that greater technical efficiency for the organization as a whole might be achieved by closing down some of the existing DMUs. In this paper, we present three centralized DEA models that take advantage of this possibility. Although these models involve some binary variables, we present efficient solution approaches based on Linear Programming. We also present some numerical results of the proposed models for a small problem from the literature.  相似文献

We give a geometrical interpretation of the Brudnyi-KrugljakK-divisibility theorem—one of the fundamental results of modern interpolation theory of Banach spaces. We show that this result is closely connected with a curious intersection theorem which can be formulated in the spirit of Helly’s classical theorem. LetB 0,B 1 be two closed convex balanced subset of a Banach spaceX. We prove that under a wide range of various conditions the family of setsB = {B =sB 0 +tB 1 +c;s, tR,cX} possesses the following intersection property: LetB′ be a subfamily ofB such that every two sets fromB′ have a common point. Then ∩ BB γ oB ≠ 0, where γ>0 is an absolute constant (γ ≤ 7 + 4 √2) and the symbol γ oB denotes a dilation ofB with respect to its center by a factor of γ. As a consequence we obtain a generalization of theK-divisibility theorem for sums of two elements. In this paper, Data Envelopment Analysis is used to determine the target output levels (and corresponding required inputs) for the multiple facilities under the responsibility of a Top Decision Maker. The proposed approach aims at minimizing the input costs incurred to attain specified total, company-wide output levels. Specific features of the proposed approach are the consideration of multiple technologies, lower and upper bounds on the production levels of each plant and the possibility of shutting down a plant, with the corresponding costs, if necessary. The consideration of multiple technologies, in particular, takes into account the existence of heterogeneity within the company's facilities. In that scenario, grouping all plants within a single technology gives misleading results.  相似文献

An issue of considerable importance, how to allocate a common revenue in an equitable manner across a set of competing entities. This paper introduces a new approach to obtaining allocation common revenue on all decision making units (DMUs) in such a way that the relative efficiency is not changed. In this method for determining allocation common revenue dose not need to solving any linear programming. A numerical example is provided to illustrate the results of the analysis.  相似文献

Summary In this note we use a new averaging method, which was introduced in [2], to explain the geometrical behaviour of systems governed by nonlinear boundary value problems of the formy+g(y)=K sin(t),y(0)=y(/)=0. We show by numerical computations that global features of the solutions (such as the number of solutions, their magnitude, bifurcation behaviour, etc.) agree in both the original and averaged model. As an example, the pendulum equation is discussed in detail.
Zusammenfassung In dieser Arbeit benutzen wir eine neue, in [2] eingeführte Mittelwertmethode, um das geometrische Verhalten nichtlinearer Randwertprobleme der Formy+g(y)=K sin(t),y(0)=y(/)=0. zu erklären. Wir belegen durch numerische Untersuchungen, daß globale Eigenschaften der Lösungen (wie z. B. die Anzahl der Lösungen, ihre Größenordnung, das Verzweigungsverhalten usw.) in der originalen und genäherten Gleichung übereinstimmen. Als Beispiel wird die Pendelgleichung ausführlich diskutiert.

The matrix form for the variance of n independently chosen real numbers, x1, x2,…, xn, is observed to be the same as that for the potential energy matrix for n coupled oscillators symmetrically arranged on a circle. Unitary matrices that have previously been developed from the irreducible representations of the circular symmetries to diagonalize the potential energy matrices are given. These transformations are applied to the variance.

A geometric setting is provided for the transformations, and the maximum variance is found for real numbers xi subject to linear constraints on the choices of the numbers.  相似文献

Conventional DEA models have been introduced to deal with non-negative data. In the real world, in some occasions, we have outputs and/or inputs, which can take negative data. In DEA literature some approaches have been presented for evaluating performance of units, which operate with negative data. In this paper, firstly, we give a brief review of these works, then we present a new additive based approach in this framework. The proposed model is designed to provide a target with non-negative value associated with negative components for each observed unit, failed by other methods. An empirical application in banking is then used to show the applicability of the proposed method and make a comparison with the other approaches in the literature.  相似文献

We study the continuity and differentiability properties of these functions, the approximability properties, the structure of the distributional derivatives and of the weak Jacobians. Traditional DEA models deal with measurements of relative efficiency of DMUs regarding multiple-inputs vs. multiple-outputs. One of the drawbacks of these models is the neglect of intermediate products or linking activities. After pointing out needs for inclusion of them to DEA models, we propose a slacks-based network DEA model, called Network SBM, that can deal with intermediate products formally. Using this model we can evaluate divisional efficiencies along with the overall efficiency of decision making units (DMUs).  相似文献

With an increasing attention on the environment, one of the major research thrusts in Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) based performance evaluation is the undesirable output in the conventional DEA model. There is considerable research published on the undesirable aspects of production outputs. However, the economic implications and the suitability of the DEA models for incorporating the undesirable outputs are less carefully investigated and discussed. In this paper, a comparative study is conducted of typical eco-DEA models to illustrate this issue. We propose a ratio model to evaluate the undesirable as well as the desirable outputs simultaneously. We apply the specially developed model to investigate the impact of production pollutants while conducting the efficiency evaluation in the textile industry of China. The results reveal that the production output-oriented efficiency evaluation can be significantly altered once the environmental aspects are factored into the model.  相似文献
