The thermoresponsive conductive composite (TCC) thin films and fiber mats, whose electrical property changed with temperature, were fabricated successfully. The thermocrosslinkable and thermoresponsive copolymer, poly(N‐isopropyl acrylamide‐coN‐methylolacrylamide) (PNN), was synthesized. The TCC thin film and fiber mat were fabricated by spin coating and electrospinning process of PEDOT:PSS/PNN solutions, respectively. After thermocrosslinking and doping by DMSO, the composite thin films and fiber mats were obtained. Fibrous structures of TCC fiber mats were observed by SEM. The surface resistance and conductivity of composites were measured. The thermoresponsivity and swelling ratio of TCCs were also studied. The thermoresponsive conductive property was analyzed by measuring the surface resistance of TCCs in water bath under various temperatures from 20 to 50 °C. With the increase of temperature, the TCCs shrank to be dense structure and showed lower surface resistance. The TCC fibers mat exhibited greater sensitivity to temperature than thin film owing to its fibrous structure. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. In this research, thermoresponsive and conductive fibers with core‐sheath structure were fabricated by coaxial electrospinning. For preparing the spinning sheath solution, poly‐(N‐isopropylacrylamide‐co‐N‐methylolacrylamide) (PNN) copolymer having thermoresponsive and cross‐linkable properties was synthesized by free‐radical polymerization using redox initiators; it was then mixed with the conductive poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) at different weight ratios in water. On the other hand, poly(butyl acrylate‐co‐styrene) (PBS) copolymer synthesized by emulsion polymerization was dissolved in chloroform and used as the spinning core solution. After electrospinning, the fibers were treated at 110 °C for 1 h to cross‐link the PNN portion in the sheath for strengthening the fibers. Well‐defined core‐sheath fibers were observed from SEM pictures; the outside and inside (core) diameters were 568 ± 24 and 290 ± 40 nm, respectively, as determined from TEM pictures. The fiber mats were further doped by DMSO to enhance their conductivity. For the fiber mat with the weight ratio of PEDOT:PSS/PNN at 0.20 in the sheath, its surface conductivity could reach 29.4 S/cm. In addition, the fiber mats exhibited thermoresponsive properties that both swelling ratio and electric resistance decreased with temperature. Furthermore, the fiber mats exhibited improved flexibility as evaluated via bending test. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Chem. 2016 , 54, 1299–1307  相似文献

The thermoresponsive magnetic polymer composites and nanofibers were fabricated. Their thermal and magnetic properties were also investigated. Fe3O4 nanoparticles were prepared by coprecipitation method. Further condensation reaction was used to fabricate the double‐layer lauric acid modified Fe3O4 (DLF) nanoparticles dispersed well in water. Thermal properties of poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) and DLF/PNIPAAm composites and their aqueous solutions were measured by TGA and DSC. With the increasing of DLF content, the interaction between DLF and PNIPAAm caused the lower critical solution temperature (LCST) of polymer solution to shift from 33 to 31.25 °C. The effects of concentration and pH on LCST were also studied. The DLF/PNIPAAm nanofibers were fabricated by electrospinning. Their diameters were around 100–250 nm. Magnetization curves of DLF/PNIPAAm composite and nanofibers were overlapped and the saturated magnetizations were the same. Magnetic attraction behaviors of DLF/PNIPAAm polymer solution at temperatures below and above LCST were different. Aggregation of DLF/PNIPAAm above LCST enhanced magnetic moment density as well as magnetic attraction ability. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. The aim of this study was to develop novel thermally responsive polymer microspheres with magnetic properties. Dispersion and inverse emulsion copolymerization of N‐isopropylacrylamide (NIPAAm) and N,N′‐methylenebisacrylamide (MBAAm) was investigated in the presence of γ‐Fe2O3 nanoparticles. The resulting microspheres were characterized in terms of morphology, size, polydispersity, iron content, and temperature‐dependent swelling using optical microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, QELS, and AAS. The effects of several variables, such as the concentration of γ‐Fe2O3, MBAAm crosslinking agent, Span 80 surfactant, 2,2′‐azobis(2‐methyloctanenitrile) (AMON) initiator, and polymerization temperature on the properties of the microspheres were studied. Swelling and thermoresponsive behavior of the microspheres containing γ‐Fe2O3 nanoparticles were also investigated. The microspheres contained about 8 wt % of iron. The presence of magnetic nanoparticles and their concentration changes did not have any significant effect on the temperature sensitivity of the composites. The particles gradually shrink into an increasingly collapsed state when the temperature is raised to 40 °C since the increase in temperature weakens the hydration and PNIPAAm chains gradually become more hydrophobic, which leads to the collapse of the particles. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this article, a new large‐scale aligned fiber mats formation method called salt‐induced pulse electrospinning was developed. By electrospinning salted solution in a humid environment, traditional continuous electrospinning changed into pulse electrospinning and aligned fibers were thus formed. The possible mechanisms for the occurrence of salt‐induced pulse electrospinning and the formation of fiber alignment were studied. The continuous electrospinning changing into the pulse electrospinning was due to the change of viscosity and conductivity of salted polymer solution in a wet electrospinning condition. Fishing net‐shaped whipping region of the electrospinning jet during pulse electrospinning process was considered as the key factor for the formation of fiber alignment. The mechanical properties of the aligned fiber mat increased significantly compared with that of the random fiber mat. This aligned fiber preparation method only requires a very low rotating drum speed as the receiver and can produce large‐scale aligned fiber mats for many applications. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) agent was directly anchored onto Fe3O4 nanoparticles in a simple procedure using a ligand exchange reaction of S‐1‐dodecyl‐S′‐(α,α′‐dimethyl‐α″‐acetic acid)trithiocarbonate with oleic acid initially present on the surface of pristine Fe3O4 nanoparticles. The RAFT agent‐functionalized Fe3O4 nanoparticles were then used for the surface‐initiated RAFT copolymerization of N‐isopropylacrylamide and acrolein to fabricate structurally well‐defined hybrid nanoparticles with reactive and thermoresponsive poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide‐co‐acrolein) shell and magnetic Fe3O4 core. Evidence of a well‐controlled surface‐initiated RAFT copolymerization was gained from a linear increase of number‐average molecular weight with overall monomer conversions and relatively narrow molecular weight distributions of the copolymers grown from the nanoparticles. The resulting novel magnetic, reactive, and thermoresponsive core‐shell nanoparticles exhibited temperature‐trigged magnetic separation behavior and high ability to immobilize model protein BSA. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this study, a facile strategy for the preparation of thermo‐ and pH‐responsive nanogels through reversible addition–fragmentation transfer (RAFT) crosslinking copolymerization of ionic liquid‐based monomers is demonstrated. The use of chain transfer agents (CTAs) containing carboxyl group in the RAFT polymerizations is the key to producing highly thermoresponsive nanogels. Experimental results demonstrate that the critical gelation temperature of the as‐prepared nanogels can be tuned by adjusting the feed ratio of monomer and CTA. Variable temperature Fourier transform infrared measurements and control experiments indicate that hydrogen‐bonding interactions between the carboxyl groups of CTAs are responsible for the thermoresponsive behaviors of poly(ionic liquid) (PIL)‐based nanogels. Furthermore, PIL‐based nanogels are also found to be pH‐sensitive, and can be further decorated by poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) via surface grafting polymerization. PNIPAAm‐grafted nanogel aqueous solutions can be reversibly transformed into macrogels upon a change in temperature. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. In this research, the synthesis and properties of thermally responsive complex polymer networks containing Fe3O4 nanoparticles were studied. First, a stable ferrofluid containing Fe3O4 nanoparticles was synthesized via a coprecipitation method in the presence of a poly(acrylic acid) oligomer. This stable ferrofluid could mix well with water‐soluble monomers by the adjustment of its pH value. Second, a thermally responsive copolymer was synthesized in the presence of the ferrofluid containing Fe3O4 nanoparticles to obtain the complex polymer networks. By the adjustment of the pH value, the ferrofluid could remain stable in the polymerization system, in which N‐isopropylacrylamide (NIPAAm) and methacrylic acid (MAA) were used as comonomers to provide thermoresponsive properties and acid groups and ammonium persulfate and sodium metabisulfite were used as the redox initiator system. Several variables, such as the molar ratio of MAA to NIPAAm, the concentrations of the monomers and crosslinking agent, the addition of an ammonium solution, and the content of the ferrofluid, were studied in this polymerization. Their effects on the morphology, structure, polymerization rate, and thermal properties of the complex polymer networks were discussed. The swelling and thermoresponsive behaviors of the complex polymer networks containing Fe3O4 nanoparticles were also studied, and the composition–morphology–property relationship was established. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel nanofibrous mat featuring an ultraviolet (UV)‐induced CO2‐responsive behavior was fabricated via electrospinning and used as a controlled drug release system. First, a random copolymer for electrospinning, poly(N,N‐diethylaminoethyl acrylamide‐coN‐benzylacrylamide‐coN,N‐dimethyl‐N‐(2‐nitrobenzyl)‐ethaneamine acrylamide‐co‐4‐acryloyloxy benzophenone) [P(DEEA‐co‐BA‐co‐DMNOBA‐co‐ABP)], was prepared based on pentafluorophenyl esters via an “active ester‐amine” chemistry reaction. Subsequently, doxorubicin hydrochloride (DOX)‐loaded P(DEEA‐co‐BA‐co‐DMNOBA‐co‐ABP) nanofibers were fabricated, yielding a new drug‐loaded nanofibrous mat as a potential wound dressing. These DOX‐loaded nanofibers can respond to UV irradiation and CO2 stimulation. Interestingly, without UV irradiation, the fabricated nanofibers cannot exhibit any responsiveness. Therefore, the majority of the DOX was steadily stored in the nanofibers, even in the presence of CO2. However, upon UV irradiation, the CO2‐responsive behavior of the nanofibers was activated and the prepared nanofibers swelled slightly, resulting in the release of around 42% DOX from the nanofibers. Upon further purging with CO2, the release amount of DOX from the nanofibers could reach up to approximately 85%, followed by the morphological transition from a nanofibrous mat to a porous hydrogel film. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this study, the poly(NIPAAm–MAA)/Fe3O4 hollow latex particles were synthesized by three steps. The first step was to synthesize the poly(methyl methacrylate‐co‐methylacrylate acid) (poly(MMA‐MAA)) copolymer latex particles by the method of soapless emulsion polymerization. Following the first step, the second step was to polymerize N‐isopropylacrylamide (NIPAAm), MAA, and crosslinking agent (N,N'‐methylene‐bisacrylamide (MBA)) in the presence of poly(MMA‐MAA) latex particles to form the linear poly(MMA‐MAA)/crosslinking poly (NIPAAm‐MAA) core‐shell latex particles. After the previous processes, the core‐shell latex particles were heated in the presence of NH4OH to dissolve the linear poly(MMA‐MAA) core in order to form the poly(NIPAAm‐MAA) hollow latex particles. In the third step, Fe2+ and Fe3+ ions were introduced to bond with the ? COOH groups of MAA segments in the poly(NIPAAm‐MAA) hollow polymer latex particles. Further by a reaction with NH4OH and then Fe3O4 nanoparticles were generated in situ and the poly(NIPAAm‐MAA)/Fe3O4 magnetic composite hollow latex particles were formed. The concentrations of MAA, crosslinking agent (N,N'‐methylene bisacrylamide), and Fe3O4 nanoparticles were important factors to influence the morphology of hollow latex particles and lower critical solution temperature of poly(NIPAAm–MAA)/Fe3O4 magnetic composite hollow latex particles. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Poly(N‐acryloyl glycinamide) (PNAGA)/poly(N‐isopropyl acrylamide) (PNIPAAm) interpenetrating network (IPN) hydrogels were made by UV‐light initiated radical polymerization in two‐steps. The IPN hydrogels showed a double thermoresponsive behavior due to the combination of PNIPAAm (thermophobic) and PNAGA (thermophilic) networks. Increasing the content of the thermophobic PNIPAAm network leads to a change from a broad thermophilic volume phase transition temperature of PNAGA to a thermophilic–thermophobic‐type dual transition for the prepared IPN. Due to the double thermoresponsive character of the IPN gels, the mechanical properties are dependent upon temperature as demonstrated by performing tensile tests in water at 15 and 50 °C. Furthermore, the IPN hydrogels were characterized using turbidity measurements, SEM, and the determination of the equilibrium swelling ratio. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. One‐pot synthesis of thermoresponsive magnetic composite microspheres with a poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) shell and a Fe3O4 core is demonstrated. Temperature sensitivity of PNIPAM was adopted to design the novel synthesis pathway. The as‐prepared composite microspheres have an obvious core‐shell structure with a mean size of approximately 250 nm. The Fe3O4 core is approximately 5 nm and the thickness of the PNIPAM shell is approximately 10 nm. The content of Fe3O4 in the composite microspheres can be controlled by this method. The composite microspheres experience a swelling and shrinking process in water by adjusting the temperature below and above the lower critical solution temperature (LCST) around 32 °C. These microspheres also show fine response to an external magnetic field. This work presents a platform to synthesize organic/inorganic composite microspheres in a facile and efficient approach. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Iron(III) oxide (hematite, Fe2O3) nanofibers, as visible light‐induced photoanode for water oxidation reaction of a water splitting process, were fabricated through electrospinning method followed by calcination treatment. The prepared samples were characterized with scanning electron microscopy, and three‐electrode galvanostat/potentiostat for evaluating their photoelectrochemical (PEC) properties. The diameter of the as‐spun fibers is about 300 nm, and calcinated fibers have diameter less than 110 nm with mesoporous structure. Optimized multilayered electrospun α‐Fe2O3 nanostructure mats showed photocurrent density of 0.53 mA/cm2 under dark and visible illumination conditions at voltage 1.23 V and constant intensity (900 mW/cm2). This photovoltaic performance of nanostructure mats makes it suitable choice for using in the PEC water splitting application as an efficient photoanode. This method, if combined with appropriate flexible conductive substrate, has the potential for producing flexible hematite solar fuel generators. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Ultrafine hydrogel fibers that were responsive to both temperature and pH signals were prepared through the electrospinning of poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) and poly(acrylic acid) mixtures in dimethylformamide. Both the diameters (700 nm to 1.2 μm) and packing of the fibers could be controlled through changes in the polymer compositions and PNIPAAm molecular weights. These fibers were rendered water‐insoluble by the addition of either Na2HPO4 or poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) to the solution, followed by the heat curing of the fibers. The fibers crosslinked with Na2HPO4 swelled to 30–120 times in water; this was significantly higher than the swelling of those crosslinked with PVA. The PVA‐crosslinked hydrogel fibers, however, exhibited faster swelling kinetics; that is, they reached equilibrium swelling in less than 5 min at 25 °C. They were also more stable after 1 week of water exposure; that is, they lost less mass and retained their fibrous form better. All the hydrogel fibers showed a drastic increase in the swelling between pH 4 and 5. The PVA‐crosslinked hydrogel fibers exhibited distinct temperature‐responsive phase‐transition behavior of PNIPAAm, whereas the Na2HPO4‐crosslinked hydrogel fibers showed altered two‐stage phase transitions that reflected side‐chain modification of PNIPAAm. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Various polyblends of poly(vinyl chloride) and polyurethane (PU) dissolved in a mixture of tetrahydrofuran and N,N‐dimethylformamide were produced by electrospinning, in different ratios, with several electrospinning conditions, and the relationship between morphology and mechanical behavior of the resulting fiber mats was examined in detail. The surface tension, viscosity, and electrical conductivity of polymer solutions affecting electrospinning were measured, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) along with a universal testing machine were used to examine the family of polyblends under investigation. The SEM images demonstrated that point‐bonded structures in the fiber mats rose with increasing PU composition, and the mechanical properties of the fiber mats, as determined in a static tensile test, can be considered to have a strong effect by the point‐bonded structure. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel palladium catalyst immobilized on polyacrylonitrile fiber mats (Pd/PAN) was prepared by electrospinning. The catalytic activity and recyclability of the microwave‐assisted Pd/PAN fiber mats were examined for the Mizoroki–Heck cross‐coupling of aryl iodides with three different acrylates in aqueous solution. The morphology of the prepared Pd/PAN fiber mats was characterized by scanning electron microscopy. The large size of the PAN fiber mat‐supported palladium catalyst enables much easier separation from the reaction mixture by simple filtration. Density functional theory calculation indicates that the chelation energy of palladium chloride (PdCl2) with propionitrile (model of PAN) is considerable smaller than that of PdCl2 with water, suggesting that the stability and reactivity of the Pd/PAN fiber mats catalyst could be improved through the surface derivatization with polar functional groups. Fe3O4 nanoparticles were indirectly implanted onto functionalized multi‐walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) leading to a nanocomposite with stronger magnetic performance. Poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) oligomer was first reacted with hydroxyl‐functionalized MWCNTs (MWCNTs‐OH) forming PAA‐grafted MWCNTs (PAA‐g‐MWCNTs). Subsequently, Fe3O4 nanoparticles were attached onto the surface of PAA‐g‐MWCNTs through an amidation reaction between the amino groups on the surface of Fe3O4 nanoparticles and the carboxyl groups of PAA. Fourier transform infrared spectra confirmed that the Fe3O4 nanoparticles and PAA‐g‐MWCNTs were indeed chemically linked. The morphology of the nanocomposites was characterized using transmission electron microscope (TEM). The surface and bulk structure of the nanocomposites were examined using X‐ray diffraction, X‐ray photoelectron spectrometer (XPS), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The magnetic performance was characterized by vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and the magnetic saturation value of the magnetic nanocomposites was 47 emu g?1. The resulting products could be separated from deionized water under an external magnetic field within about 15 s. Finally, the magnetorheological (MR) performances of the synthesized magnetic nanocomposites and pure Fe3O4 nanoparticles were examined using a rotational rheometer. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this work, Fe3O4/polystyrene/poly(N‐isopropylacryl amide‐co‐methylacrylate acid) (Fe3O4/PS/P(NIPAAM‐co‐MAA)) magnetic composite latex was synthesized by the method of two stage emulsion polymerization. In this reaction system, 2,2′‐azobis(2‐methyl propionamidine) dihydrochloride (AIBA) was used as initiator to initiate the first stage reaction and second stage reaction. The Fe3O4 particles were prepared by a traditional coprecipitation method. Fe3O4 particles were surface treated by either PAA oligomer or lauric acid to form the stable ferrofluid. The first stage for the synthesis of magnetic composite latex was to synthesize PS in the presence of ferrofluid by soapless emulsion polymerization to form the Fe3O4/PS composite latex particles. Following the first stage of reaction, the second stage of polymerization was carried out by the method of soapless emulsion polymerization with NIPAAM and MAA as monomers and Fe3O4/PS latex as seeds. The magnetic composite particles, Fe3O4/PS/P(NIPAAM‐co‐MAA), were thus obtained. The mechanism of the first stage reaction and second stage reaction were investigated. Moreover, the effects of PAA and lauric acid on the reaction kinetics, morphology, and particle size distribution were studied. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The Fe3O4 particles were prepared by a traditional coprecipitation method and then surface‐treated with either a PAA oligomer or lauric acid to form a stable ferrofluid. The first stage for the synthesis of the thermosensitive magnetic composite latex was to synthesize PS in the presence of a ferrofluid by emulsion polymerization to form Fe3O4/PS composite latex particles.
