The adsorption of carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) in the presence or absence of the surfactants: anionic SDS, nonionic Triton X-100 and their mixture SDS/TX-100 from the electrolyte solutions (NaCl, CaCl2) on the alumina surface (Al2O3) was studied. In each measured system the increase of CMC adsorption in the presence of surfactants was observed. This increase was the smallest in the presence of SDS, a bit larger in the presence of Triton X-100 and the largest when the mixture of SDS/Triton X-100 was used. These results are a consequence of formation of complexes between the CMC and the surfactant particles. Moreover, the dependence between the amount of surfactants’ adsorption and the CMC initial concentration was measured. It comes out that the surfactants’ adsorption amount is not dependent on the CMC initial concentration and moreover, it is unchanged in the whole measured concentration range. The influence of kind of electrolyte, its ionic strength as well as pH of a solution on the amount of the CMC adsorption at alumina surface was also measured. The amount of CMC adsorption is larger in the presence of NaCl than in the presence of CaCl2 as the background electrolyte. It is a result of the complexation reaction between Ca2+ ions and the functional groups of CMC belonging to the same macromolecule. As far as the electrolyte ionic strength is concerned the increase of CMC adsorption amount accompanying the increase of electrolyte ionic strength is observed. The reason for that is the ability of electrolyte cations to screen every electrostatic repulsion in the adsorption system. Another observation is that the increase of pH caused the decrease of CMC adsorption. The explanation of this phenomenon is connected with the influence of pH on both dissociation degree of polyelectrolyte and kind and concentration of surface active groups of the adsorbent.  相似文献

The electrode-separated piezoelectric sensor (ESPS), an improved setup of quartz crystal microbalance (QCM), has been employed to investigate the adsorption behavior of nonionic surfactant Triton X-100 at the hydrophilic quartz-solution interface in mineralized water medium in situ, which contained CaCl2 0.01 mol·L?1, MgCl2 0.01 mol·L?1, NaCl 0.35 mol·L?1. In a large scale of surfactant concentration, the effects of Ca2 , Mg2 and Na on the adsorption isotherm and kinetics are obviously different. In aque-ous solution containing NaCl only, adsorption of Triton X-100 on quartz-solution interface is promoted, both adsorption rate and adsorption amount increase. While in mineralized water medium, multivalent positive ions Ca2 and Mg2 are firmly adsorbed on quartz-solution interface, result in the increasing of adsorption rate and adsorption amount at low concentration of surfactant and the peculiar desorption of surfactant at high concentration of Triton X-100. The results got by solution depletion method are in good agreement with which obtained by ESPS. The "bridge" and "separate" effect of inorganic positive ions on the adsorption and desorption mechanism of Triton X-100 at the quartz- solution interface is discussed with molecular dynamics simulations (MD), flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) methods.  相似文献

Adsorption of cationic surfactant dodecylpyridinium bromide and nonionic surfactant Triton X-100 from aqueous solutions on the surface of SiO2 particles is studied at various pH values (3.6, 6.5, and 10). The data on the adsorption are compared with the data on the wetting of quartz plates by solutions of these surfactants. Adsorption of both studied surfactants on the SiO2 surface is greatly dependent on solution pH. The mechanism of adsorption of the cationic surfactant is shown to be changed when passing to the alkaline pH region. Triton X-100 does not demonstrate a substantial change in the adsorption mechanism in the pH range from 3.6 to 10.__________Translated from Kolloidnyi Zhurnal, Vol. 67, No. 2, 2005, pp. 274–280.Original Russian Text Copyright © 2005 by Kharitonova, Ivanova, Summ.  相似文献

This study investigates the effects of various cationic surfactants on the cloud point (CP) of the nonionic surfactant Triton X-100 (TX-100) in aqueous solutions. Instead of visual observation, a spectrophotometer was used for measurement of the cloud point temperatures. The values of CPs for Triton X-100 can be measured directly because TX-100 has an average number of oxyethylene units per molecule of p  9.5 and a CP = 66.0 °C. Quaternary ammonium dimeric surfactants (m-s-m, m = 10, 12, and 16, and s = 2, 6, and 10) were synthesized and used. The melting temperature TM and the Krafft temperature TK were measured for 1 wt% aqueous solutions of these synthesized surfactants. The melting temperature of the solid gemini surfactants increased with the carbon number of the alkyl chain. The results showed that additions of the gemini surfactants (which are infinitely miscible with water) to Triton X-100 increased the cloud point of the TX-100 solutions. All salts tested in these studies had a large effect on the CPs of nonionic surfactants due to their effect on water structure and their hydrophilicity. The effect of the alkyl chain length of the gemini surfactant on the CP of Triton X-100 is therefore more important than the spacer chain length.  相似文献

After preconcentration of surfactants at the HMDE, four tensammetric signals were examined to establish the optimum conditions for the determination of ultratraces of surfactants in alkaline, neutral and acidic media. The signals studied were: (1) the depth of the depression occuring on the curves obtained in a.c. fundamental tensammetry; and (2–4) the height of the peaks on the curves obtained in a.c. fundamental tensammetry, a.c. second-harmonic tensammetry and differential pulse tensammetry, respectively. The lowest detection limits found for Triton X-100 and a polyethylene glycol (PEG-4000) were 10 and 2 μg dm-3, respectively. Traces of surfactants found in supporting electrolytes (ca. 25 μg dm-3) gave desorption peaks at potentials around ?1 V. These contaminants had no significant effect on the peaks on Triton X-100 and PEG-4000 and they affected the SDS peak markedly. The reproducibility of the results obtained for SDS was poorer than for Triton or PEG.  相似文献

Adsorption of cationic (dodecylpyridinium bromide) and nonionic (Triton X-100) surfactants from their mixed aqueous solutions on a SiO2 surface at pH 3.6, 6.5, and 10 is studied by the UV spectroscopy, capillary zone electrophoresis, and wetting measurements. It is shown that the adsorption of cationic and nonionic surfactants from mixed solutions is accompanied by synergistic effects manifesting themselves as an enhanced adsorption of both surfactants compared to their adsorption from individual solutions. The effect of second component becomes most pronounced under conditions when differences in adsorption abilities of individual surfactants are rather large (at pH 3.6 and 10). It is shown that the adsorption of surfactants from mixed solutions can be controlled by the adsorption ability of components via the variations in solution pH.__________Translated from Kolloidnyi Zhurnal, Vol. 67, No. 2, 2005, pp. 281–287.Original Russian Text Copyright © 2005 by Kharitonova, Ivanova, Summ.  相似文献

Stability of the manganese dioxide (MnO2) suspensions by non-ionic guar gum (GG) in the absence or presence of the surfactants: anionic sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS), cationic hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and non-ionic Triton X-100 (t-octylphenoxypolyethoxyethanol) and their equimolar mixtures (SDS/TX-100; CTAB/TX-100) was measured using turbidity. The obtained results of the manganese dioxide suspensions stability were discussed together with the adsorption data and with the data concerning the thicknesses of the adsorption layers. In order to gain more information about the structure of the electric double layer surface charge density and the zeta potential measurements were performed. The obtained results show that the addition of guar gum to the MnO2 suspensions increases MnO2 stability. The larger this increase is, the higher is the concentration of the polymer (concentration range 10–200 ppm). Moreover, the addition of single surfactants also causes the increase in the effectiveness of stabilizing the manganese dioxide suspensions. The reason for that is formation of multilayer complexes between the polymer and the surfactants. In such a system both the adsorption of polymer and the thickness of polymer adsorption layer increase. The greatest increase in the stability of MnO2/GG suspensions was provided by the mixture of anionic and non-ionic surfactants due to a strong synergistic effect. Also, mixing the polymer and two surfactants reduces the stability of the suspension.  相似文献

Based on the adsorption of Triton X-100 on silica/water and silica/cyclohexane interfaces and the adsorption of Triton X-305 on silica/water interface, two adsorption models have been proposed. On silica/cyclohexane interface, the adsorption of Triton X-100 is monomolecular layer. The molecules in the monolayer are presumed to be attached to the silica surface by their EO chain such that their hydrocarbon chain are exposed to the cyclohexane phase. On silica/water interface, the adsorption of Triton X-100 or Triton X-305 is bimolecular layer. The surfactant molecules orientated in the first layer are similar with that on the silica/cyclohexane interface. The molecules in the second layer are postulated to adsorb on those of the first in the opposite orientation, with EO chain directed toward the adsorption medium. The contact angle of quartz-water-cyclohexane (θW) as a function of the concentration of Triton X-100 and Triton X-305 in water has been measured with quartz plate employing the captive drop (cyclohexane) technique. The observed θW (measured through water) rose from < 10° to a maximum of about 120° for Triton X-100 and of about 40° for Triton X-305 as the concentration of surfactant in water increased, and then fell, as the concentration increased further. The results are consistent with the proposed adsorption models.  相似文献

The current study examines the effects of a phosphonium-based ionic liquid, trihexyltetra-decylphosphonium bis-(2,4,4-trimethyl pentyl)phosphinate [THTDPP], on the micellization properties of surfactants, namely sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and Triton X-100 by using the stalagmometry, viscosity, colorimetric, and FTIR methods. The surface adsorption parameters, such as CMC, γCMC, Γmax, Amin, πCMC, and pC20, were determined using the stalagmometry method. The results show that with the addition of different weight percentages of [THTDPP], the CMC and γCMC values decreased considerably in the following order: water >0.5 wt% of IL > 0.7 wt% of IL > 1.0 wt% of IL. The Amin values decreased with an increase in the wt% of IL for Triton X-100, but for SDS, this value increased. The pC20 was observed to be greater in Triton X-100 compared to SDS. The ability of [THTDPP] to decrease the CMC was found to be greater in Triton X-100 compared to SDS. The relative viscosity was calculated, and the first observation was made at the pre-CMC stage, where the concentration of SDS+0.7 wt% IL was 4.0 mM. The second finding was made post-CMC at a concentration of 5.0 mM. Afterward, the relative viscosity graph grew slowly and gradually. The functional groups involved in the complexation between [THTDPP] and both surfactants were examined using FTIR spectroscopy. Additionally, the micellar solutions of surfactants + [THTDPP] were used to explore Paracetamol [PCM] aggregation. The findings from UV–vis spectroscopy show that Triton X-100 exhibits the highest binding affinity and has the most encouraging effect compared to SDS.  相似文献

The adsorption of carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) in the presence of the surfactants: anionic SDS, nonionic polyethylene glycol p-(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl)-phenyl ether (Triton X-100) and their mixtures SDS/polyethylene glycol p-(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl)-phenyl ether with different molar ratios (1:1; 1:3 and 3:1) from the electrolyte solutions (NaCl, CaCl2) on the manganese dioxide surface (MnO2) was studied. In every measured system the increase of CMC adsorption in the presence of surfactants was observed. This increase was the smallest in the presence of SDS, a bit larger in the presence of polyethylene glycol p-(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl)-phenyl ether and the largest when the mixtures of SDS/polyethylene glycol p-(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl)-phenyl ether were used. Among the measured mixtures, the mixture of SDS/polyethylene glycol p-(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl)-phenyl ether with the molar ratio 1:3 caused the largest increase of CMC adsorption amount. These results are a consequence of formation of complexes between the carboxymethylcellulose macromolecules and the surfactant molecules. In order to determine the electrokinetic properties of the system the surface charge density of MnO2 and the zeta potential measurements were conducted in the presence of the CMC macromolecules and the surfactants. The obtained data showed that the adsorption of CMC or CMC/surfactants complexes on the manganese dioxide surface strongly influences the structure of the electric double layer MnO2/electrolyte solution.  相似文献

A method is described for the determination of non-ionic surfactants in the concentration range 0.05–2 mg l-1.Surfactant molecules are extracted into 1,2-dichlorobenzene as a neutral adduct with potassium tetrathiocyanatozincate(II) and the determination is completed by atomic absorption spectrometry. With a 150-ml water sample, the limit of detection is 0.03 mg l-1(as Triton X-100).The method requires a single phase separation step, is applicable, without modification, to fresh, estuarine and sea-water samples and is relatively free from interference by anionic surfactants; the presence of up to 5 mg l-1 of anionic surfactant (as LAS) introduces an error of no more than 0.07 mg l-1 (as Triton X-100) in the apparent non-ionic surfactant concentration.  相似文献

Kefiran is a water soluble polysaccharide produced by Lactobacillus kefiranofaciens ATCC 43761. It has wide potential applications in food, pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries. To the best of our knowledge, there have been no previous reports on the effect of osmotic stress and ionic surfactants on kefiran production by L. kefiranofaciens ATCC 43761. Accordingly, the current work aimed at optimizing kefiran production as affected by osmotic stress and nonionic surfactants in submerged cultivation system. Afterwards, the work was extended to investigate cytotoxic as well as antioxidant potentials of kefiran. Firstly, different osmolarities, different ionic surfactants (Triton X-100, Tween 20, Tween 80) as well as their concentrations and addition time were evaluated. The kinetics of cell growth and kefiran production were evaluated before and after the addition of surfactants. Results clearly demonstrated that osmotic stress and surfactant addition had a stimulatory effect on kefiran production. Using the optimal medium osmolality, 550 mOsmol.kg−1, kefiran production was enhanced from 1.29 to about 1.38 g.L−1. Furthermore, Triton X-100 was found to be the best surfactant stimulating kefiran production when added at a concentration of 1.0 g.L−1 at the onset of cultivation process (0 h). This increased kefiran production from 1.38 g.L−1 to 1.62 g.L−1. To summarize, the maximal kefiran production can be enhanced using 550 mOsmol.kg−1 and by adding 1.0 g.L−1 of Triton X-100 at 0 h. The new optimized medium showed an increase of about 25.6% in kefiran production (1.29 up to 1.62 g.L−1). After this step, the process was further optimized in 16-L stirred tank bioreactor. Maximal kefiran production reached 2.32 g.L−1 and 1.87 g.L−1 in bioreactor under control and un-controlled pH conditions, respectively, corresponding to 72.9 and 45.0% increase from the initial production titer, respectively. The produced kefiran exhibited promising anticancer activity against breast cancer (MCF-7) cells, with an IC50 value of 193.89 μg.mL−1. Also, kefiran showed 96.58% radical scavenging activity at 100 μg/mL, with an ED50 recorded of 12.29 ± 0.98 μg.mL−1.  相似文献

A common nonionic surfactant Triton X-100 was dissolved in a commercial ionic liquid (IL) 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (bmimBF4). The surface tension of the bmimBF4 solution was decreased with increasing the content of surfactant Triton X-100, a similar phenomenon with aqueous solution systems. Dynamic surface properties of Triton X-100 in bmimBF4 were measured. It was found that pure IL solvents need rearrangement at the air-bmimBF4 interface during the beginning stage of absorption. Moreover, the adsorption model was found to be in accord with the diffusion-controlled adsorption mechanism, and further, the dilute bmimBF4 solutions are close to the diffusion-controlled adsorption.  相似文献

The simple procedure is based on measurement of the capacity current of the mercury electrode by a.c. polarography after adsorption of the surfactant. Nonionic surfactants of the Triton-X series were studied in connection with precipitation of colloidal silver iodide. Useful results were achieved in the 10?4–10-7 mol dm?3 range for Triton X-100, X-305 and X-705 by adjusting the sorption time, the type of molecular transport to the electrode and the dilution ratio.  相似文献

Effects of Triton X-100 on the properties of hemoglobin (Hb) and on the controlled release of ribavirin were studied using the methods of UV-Vis spectrum, fluorescence spectrum, zeta potential, conductivity, high-performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC), and image morphology in Hb/ribavirin/H2O system. With the increase of concentration of Triton X-100 in the system, the intrinsic fluorescence intensity, synchronous fluorescence intensity, fluorescence polarization, zeta potential, and morphology of Hb all changed gradually, and the ribavirin located on the Hb surface was dissociated and released out. When the concentration of Triton X-100 was higher than 1×10−5 mol·L−1, the stronger interaction of Triton X-100 with Hb was predominant. Hb was unfolded and denaturized. A little Triton X-100 can protect Hb from the effects of ribavirin.  相似文献

The cloud point extraction behavior of iron(III) and vanadium(V) using 8-quinolinol derivatives (HA) such as 8-quinolinol (HQ), 2-methyl-8-quinolinol (HMQ), 5-butyloxymethyl-8-quinolinol (HO4Q), 5-hexyloxymethyl-8-quinolinol (HO6Q), and 2-methyl-5-octyloxymethyl-8-quinolinol (HMO8Q) and Triton X-100 solution was investigated. Iron(III) was extracted with HA and 4% (v/v) Triton X-100 in the pH range of 1.70-5.44. Above pH 4.0, more than 95% of iron(III) was extracted with HQ, HMQ, and HMO8Q. Vanadium(V) was also extracted with HA and 4% (v/v) Triton X-100 in the pH range of 2.07-5.00, and the extractability increased in the following order of HMQ < HQ < HO4Q < HO6Q. The cloud point extraction was applied to the determination of iron(III) in the riverine water reference by a graphite furnace atomic absorption spectroscopy. When 1.25 × 10−3 M HMQ and 1% (v/v) Triton X-100 were used, the found values showed a good agreement with the certified ones within the 2% of the R.S.D. Moreover, the effect of an alkyl group on the solubility of 5-alkyloxymethyl-8-quinolinol and 2-methyl-5-alkyloxymethyl-8-quinolinol in 4% (v/v) Triton X-100 at 25 °C was also investigated.  相似文献

The effect of Na2SO4 and PhCOONa on the aquation of [Fe(Me4phen)3]2+ has been investigated in pure Triton X-100 as solvent. The rate and mechanism of the aquation are explained in terms of changes in the mobility, activity and structure of H2O in the restricted environment of water pockets in the Triton X-100 solvent.  相似文献

The adsorption kinetics of Triton X-100 and Triton X-405 at solution/air and solution/hexane interfaces is studied by the recently developed fast formed drop technique. The dynamic interfacial tension of Triton X-100 and Triton X-405 solutions against hexane has been measured without preequilibration of the water and oil phases. It is found that the dynamic interfacial tension of Triton X-100 solutions passes through a minimum. This strange behavior is attributed to partial solubility of the surfactant in hexane. Such minima of the dynamic interfacial tension of Triton X-405 solutions have not been observed, which correlates well with the solubilities of both surfactants in hexane reported in the literature. The dynamic surface tension of solutions of both surfactants and the dynamic interfacial tension of Triton X-405 solutions are interpreted by the Ward and Tordai model for diffusion controlled adsorption. It is shown that proper interpretation of the experimental data depends on the type of isotherm used. More consistent results are obtained when the Temkin isotherm is used instead of the Langmuir isotherm. The results obtained with Triton X-100 at the solution/air interface confirm that the adsorption of this surfactant occurs under diffusion control. The adsorption of Triton X-405 at solution/air and at solution/hexane interfaces seems to occur under diffusion control at short periods of time, but under mixed (diffusion-kinetic) control at long periods of time. A hypothesis is drawn to explain this phenomenon by changes in the shape of the large hydrophilic heads of Triton X-405 molecules. Copyright 2000 Academic Press.  相似文献

In the presence of ion perturber LiAc, 4-generation polyamidoamine dendrimers (4G-D) could emit strong and stable room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) signal at on nitrocellulose membrane (NCM), and Triton X-100 could sharply enhance the RTP signal of 4G-D. Triton X-100-4G-D was used to label concanavalin agglutinin (Con A) to get the labeling product Triton X-100-4G-D-Con A. Quantitative specific affinity adsorption (AA) reaction between Triton X-100-4G-D-Con A and α-fetoprotein variant (AFP-V) could be carried out on the surface of NCM, whose product Triton X-100-4G-D-Con A-AFP-V could emit strong and stable RTP and its ΔIp was proportional to the content of AFP-V. According to the facts above, a new affinity adsorption solid substrate-room temperature phosphorimetry (AA-SS-RTP) for the determination of trace AFP-V by Con A labeled with Triton X-100-4G-D was established. Detection limits of this method were 0.23 fg spot−1 (direct method, corresponding concentration: 5.8 × 10−13 g mL−1) and 0.13 fg spot−1 (sandwich method, corresponding concentration: 3.2 × 10−13 g mL−1). It has been successfully applied to determine the content of AFP-V in human serum and forecast human diseases, for its high sensitivity, long RTP lifetime, good repeatability, high accuracy and little background perturbation with at the long wavelength area. Meanwhile, the mechanism for the determination of trace AFP-V using AA-SS-RTP was also discussed.  相似文献

The effect of micelles of different surfactants (cationic, anionic, and neutral) on the kinetics of the glucose oxidase-catalyzed reduction of ferrocenium cations RFc+ (R=H, Bun) byd-glucose was studied by spectrophotometry. In micellar media of Triton X-100 and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), the Michaelis dependence of the reaction rate on the HFc+ concentration is observed, while this dependence has an extreme character in cationic micelles of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB). The nature and concentration of surfactants of all types have a slight effect on the rate of reduction of HFc+. The level of enzymatic activity is approximately equal in the case of Triton X-100 and CTAB and is considerably lower in the SDS micelles. On going from HFc+ to BunFc+, the reaction rate is maximum in the cationic CTAB micelles, the anionic SDS micelles exhibit almost no activity, and the activity has an intermediate value in neutral micelles of Triton X-100. The conditions are presented under which the micellar medium controls the catalytic activity of glucose oxidase with respect to ferrocenium cations. Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk.
