Abstract

A perbromate- selective membrane electrode with a liquid membrane of crystal violet-perbromate dissolved in chlorobenzene is described, The liquid membrane electrode exhibits rapid and near Nernstian response to perbromate activity from 10?5 to 10?2 M. The response is unaffected by pH in the range 2–10, Major interferences are periodate and perchlorate. A kinetic study of the iron(II)- perbromate reaction was carried out with the perbromate electrode, A potentiometric method is described for the determination of 50–500 μg of iron (II) with relative errors and standard deviations of 1–2%.  相似文献

The lipophillic ammonium salt of 1‐pyrrolidine dicarbodithioic acid (PCDT) (I) was introduced as a new selective ionophore for an iron selective electrode. In addition, the effect of immobilization of 18‐crown‐6 (18CE6) (membrane type‐II), on the electrode performance was discussed. The slope of the PCDT‐based (I) electrode was (20 mV/decade). The linear concentration range was (10?5–10?1 M) after one day doping. The detection limit for electrode type‐(II) was (1.3×10?6 M). For membrane with only 18CE6 (type‐III) the linear range and the detection limit were improved (10?5–10?1 M and 3.2×10?6 M, respectively). The pH‐range was between 5–11 for type‐II, and III electrodes, while it was 7–11 for type‐I electrode. Most of the common cations were tested for the evaluation of the electrode selectivity with correlation to the ionic radii of the tested cations. Among them only Ag+ and Pb2+ were the real interference for type‐III electrode. Application of using the electrode for the determination of iron in lubrication oil samples was performed with RSD (1.77–2.7%) and (1.01–2.3%) for type‐II and III electrodes, respectively. The corresponding recovery ranges were (93.0–99.9%) and (96.3–100%). The obtained results were compared to those of an atomic absorption spectrophotometric method.  相似文献

Abstract

Three types of PVC matrix membrane ion-selective electrodes (ISEs) are described. These are based on membranes containing nitron thiocyanate with 2-nitro-phenyl phenyl ether, 2-nitrophenyl phenyl ether alone and tetraphenylarsonium thiocyanate with 2-nitrophenyl octyl ether. Each type is conditioned and stored in 0.1M sodium thiocyanate. The first two electrodes have been evaluated for thiocyanate and perchlorate response and the best linear long range (linear range down to 2.5×10?5M) response was obtained for perchlorate. The third electrode is suitable as a periodate ISE with linear calibration range down to 2×10?4M. The plasticized (2-nitrophenyl phenyl ether) PVC electrode for thiocyanate and perchlorate had a much longer pH interference free range (1.5–12.5) than either of the other electrodes.  相似文献

The electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance (EQCM) was used to study adsorption/desorption of perchlorate and perrhenate ions on a bare polycrystalline gold electrode. An electrode mass change in perrhenate solution was about double that of perchlorate. The equivalent mass of adsorbed anions (about 260 and 120 g F−1 respectively) suggests adsorption of perchlorate and perrhenate anions on a polycrystalline gold electrode in the double-layer region. Water molecules are partially expelled from the gold surface during the initial stages of anion adsorption. The water loss is about three times larger for perrhenate compared to perchlorate due to the bigger ionic radius (volume) of the perrhenate anion.  相似文献

A highly selective poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) membrane electrode based on Co(III)-Schiff base [Co(5-NO2- Salen)(PBu3)]ClO4•H2O (where 5-NO2-SalenH=bis(5-nitrosalycilaldehyde)ethylenediamine) as a new carrier for construction of perchlorate-selective electrode by incorporating the membrane ingredients on the surface of a graphite electrodes has been reported. The proposed electrode possesses a very wide Nernestian potential linear range to perchlorate from 1.0×10-6 to 5.0×10-1 mol•L-1 with a slope of (59.4±0.9) mV per decade of perchlorate concentration with a low detection limit of 5.0×10-7 mol•L-1 and good perchlorate selectivity over the wide variety of other anions. The developed electrode has an especially fast response (<5 s) and a wide pH independent range (3.0—12.0) in comparison with recent reported electrodes and can be used for at least 2 months without any considerable divergence in their potential response. This electrode was used for the determination of perchlorate in river water, drinking water, sludgy water and human urine with satisfactory results without complicated and time consuming pretreatment.  相似文献

By using dc and ac polarography, the kinetics of electroreduction of the palladium (II) complexes with β-alanine at a dropping mercury electrode was studied in solutions with the palladium (II) concentration from 2 × 10?5 to 2 × 10?4 M and variable β-alanine and sodium perchlorate concentrations (pH 6–12). One polarographic wave was observed in solutions with pH 9 and 10 at the β-alanine overall concentration of c βala = 1 × 10?3 to 5 × 10?2 M; two waves, at lower pH or higher c βala. It was concluded on the formation of different forms of palladium (II) complexes in the studied solutions; the complexes contained two to four β-alanine coordinated anions. Using the limiting diffusion currents for the two waves at pH 9–11 and c βala = 0.1 and 0.5 M, the stepwise stability constant for the Pd(βala) 4 2? complex was calculated. Using two ac peaks observed at pH 7–8 and c βala = 1 × 10?2 to 0.1 M, the stepwise stability constant for the Pd(βala) 3 ? . was calculated. The perchlorate ions adsorbed at the dropping mercury electrode, as well as βala? anions at their higher concentrations, hamper the electroreduction of the palladium (II) complexes with β-alanine.  相似文献

A new solvent/polymeric-membrane electrode which exhibits significant potentiometric response toward sulfite ion in the 1 × 10?6?1 × 10?3 M range is described. The membrane is prepared by incorporation of neutral bis(diethyldithiocarbamato)mercury (II) in a thin film of plasticized poly (vinyl chloride). In sharp contrast to classical Hofmeister behavior, the resulting membrane displays little or no response to a wide range of anions (log Kpoti,j ? ?4, i being sulfite) including sulfate, nitrate, nitrite, chloride, perchlorate, salicylate, and alkylsulfonates. Bromide and thiocyanate are moderate interferents, while significant response to iodide, thiosulfate, and sulfide is observed. These selectivity data, along with other response characteristics of the membrane, are used to postulate the mechanism by which the electrode responds to sulfite. Preliminary studies demonstrate that the electrode can be used in conjunction with an outer gas-permeable membrane for highly selective detection of total sulfite species in the form of sulfur dioxide.  相似文献

A PVC membrane electrode for copper(II) ion based on a recently synthesized Schiff base as a suitable ion carrier was constructed. The electrode exhibits a Nernstian slope of 28.3 ± 0.6 mV per decade of Cu2+ over a wide concentration range of 7.0 × 10?6‐2.6 × 10?2 M with a detection limit of 5.0 × 10?6M in the pH range of 4.2–5.8. The response time is about 10s and it can be used for at least 1 month without any considerable divergence in potential. It was successfully applied as an indicator electrode in the potentiometric titration of copper ions.  相似文献

Perchlorate-selective liquid membrane electrodes were developed by incorporating the ion-pair complexes of perchlorate with brucine, cinchonidine, emetine and benzyldimethyltetradecylammonium chloride (zephiramine) in nitrobenzene. The electrodes, which respond to perchlorate ion over the concentration range 1.0–5.0 × 10?4 M ClO?4, have a fast response and wide pH range. The zephiramine-perchlorate electrode was the best in terms of its fast response, wide pH range and high reproducibility of potentials. Most common inorganic and organic anions, except permanganate, do not cause significant interference. Electrodes based on brucine-, emetine- and zephiramine-perchlorate were successfully employed for the direct potentiometric determination of perchlorate in the presence of halides, sulphate, nitrate and chlorate. The cinchonidine-perchlorate electrode showed comparatively poor selectivity.  相似文献

Three nickel(II)‐hexaazacyclotetradecane complexes were studied to characterize their abilities as perchlorate ion carrier in PVC membrane electrodes. The electrodes based on these complexes exhibit Nernstian responses for ClO over very wide concentration ranges (1.0×10?1 ?5.0×10?7 M) with detection limits of 2.0×10?7 ?5.0×10?7 M (20–50 ng/mL). The sensors show very good selectivity for ClO ion in comparison with the most common organic and inorganic anions. The responses of the proposed electrodes are independent of pH in the range of 3.5–11.0. The perchlorate selective membranes show fast response time (<10 s) and can be used for 4–12 weeks without any major deviation. The sensors were successfully used to determine the perchlorate ion in water, wastewater and human urine samples.  相似文献

A liquid ion-exchange electrode containing a complex of mercury(II) with N-(O,O-diisopropylthiophosphoryl)thiobenzamide in carbon tetrachloride is described. The electrode shows excellent sensitivity and good selectivity. The slope of the calibration graph is 29.0 mV/pHg2+ in the pHg2+ in the pHg2+ range 2–15.2 in mercury(II) ion buffers. The electrode can be used for determination of 5 × 10?5–10?2 M Hg(II) in the presence of 10?2 M Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Zn(II), Pb(II), Cd(II), Mn(II), Fe(III), Cr(III), Bi(III) or Al(III) ions and in the presence of 10?3 M Ag(I) ions. It can bealso used for end-point detection in titrations with EDTA of 10?3–10?4 M mercury(II) at pH 2.  相似文献

A PVC (poly vinyl chloride) membrane electrode for lead ion based on 2-(((E)-2-((E)-1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)methyliden)hydrazono)metyl)phenol (HMHMP) as a membrane carrier was prepared. This electrode exhibited linear response with Nernstian slope of 29.2?±?0.2?mV per decade within the concentration range of 2.0?×?10?7–1.0?×?10?1?M lead ion. The limit of detection, as determined from the intersection of the extrapolated linear segments of the calibration plot, was 8.0?×?10?8 M. The electrode exhibited high selectivity for Pb (II). The response time of the electrode was about 5–10?s for different concentrations. The electrode is suitable for use in aqueous solutions in a pH range of 5.0–7.5. It was used as an indicator electrode in a titration of Pb (II) with chromate at constant pH. This electrode was used for the determination of lead in ore samples, and the results were in agreement with those obtained with an atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) method. Also lead selective electrode was used for monitoring of lead in spiked samples of the Zayanderud River and waste water by the potentiometry technique.  相似文献

A PVC membrane electrode for Hg(II) ions, based on a new cone shaped calix[4]arene (L) as a suitable ionophore was constructed. The sensor exhibits a linear dynamic in the range of 1.0 × 10?6–1.0 × 10?1 M, with a Nernstian slope of 29.4 ± 0.4 mV decade?1, and a detection limit of 4.0 × 10?7 M. The response time is quick (less than 10 s), it can be used in the pH range of 1.5–4, and the electrode response and selectivity remained almost unchanged for about 2 months. The sensor revealed comparatively good selectivity with respect to most alkali, alkaline earth, and some transition and heavy metal ions. It was successfully employed as an indicator electrode in the potentiometric titration of Hg2+ ions with potassium iodide, and the direct determination of mercury content of amalgam alloy and water samples.  相似文献

The potentiometric determination of zinc in chloride solutions with a coated wire electrode is described. The electroactive membrane contains the chlorozincate(II) salt of Aliquat 336S in poly (vinyl chloride). The electrode shows a useful response over the range 10-5 M–10-1 M zinc(II) in 3 M total chloride solutions in the pH range 1.5–6. The electrode is more responsive to the divalent tetrachlorozincate(II) than to the monovalent trichlorozincate(II) species. Applications in compleximetric titrations, and to the analysis of zinc oxide and zinc concentrates are reported.  相似文献

In this work, a new diimine-dioxime compound (N,N′-bis[1-biphenyl-2-hydroxyimino-2-(4-chloroanilino)-1-ethylidene]-1,4-phenylenediamine) was synthesized and characterized by a combination of elemental analyses, FT-IR, 1H- and 13C-NMR spectra. The extraction ability of the new compound has been examined in chloroform by using several transition metal picrates such as Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Pb(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II). It has been observed that diimine-dioxime compound shows a high affinity to Hg(II) ion. The electrochemical measurements of the compound were performed by cyclic voltammetry in acetonitrile solution at room temperature, and two irreversible oxidation waves were observed. A Hg(II)-selective electrode based on the diimine-dioxime compound has been developed. The electrode showed linear responses with Nernstian slopes of 33 ± 1 mV per decade over a wide concentration range (1.0 × 10?2–8.0 × 10?6 M). The limit of detection was 2.4 × 10?6 M. The electrode has a response time about 10–15 s and it did not show a considerable divergence in its potential response over a period of 1 month. The proposed electrode revealed selectivity towards Hg(II) ion in the presence of various cations. The electrode could be used over a wide pH range of 4.0–9.0. The electrode can be successfully used as an indicator electrode for potentiometric titration of Hg(II) with EDTA.  相似文献

The construction and analytical applications of an improved liquid-membrane electrode for salicylate are described. Tests of various combinations of symmetrical tetraalkylammonium salicylates and solvents showed that the best liquid ion-exchanger was tetraoctylammonium salicylate in p-nitrocumene. Electrode response is Nernstian down to 2 × 10?5 M. Major interferences are perchlorate and periodate; the working pH range is 6–9. The electrode is useful for direct potentiometric determinations of salicylate in pharmaceutical preparations.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

New potentiometric membranesensorsresponsive to Pb(II) have been developed. The membrane sensors are based on three different 9, 10-anthraquinone derivatives. The electrode based on 1, 4-bis (prop-21-enyloxy)-9, 10-anthraquinone exhibits a good Nernstian response for Pb(II) ions over a wide concentration range (2.5×10?6 - 1.0×10?2 M) with a slope of 29.8 mV decade?1. Detection limit is 1.5×10?6 M. The response time of the sensor is 15s and the useful working pH range is 4.7-6.8. The membrane can be used for more than 4 months without any considerable divergence in potentials. The electrodes revealed comparatively good selectivities with respect to alkali, alkaline earth and some transition and heavy metal ions. It was used as an indicator electrode in potentiometric titration of lead ions (with sulfate and oxalate ions), and for the determination of lead in waste waters.  相似文献

A PVC membrane electrode using [Bzo2Me2Ph2(16)hexaeneN4] ( I ) as ionophore, oleic acid as lipophilic additive and o‐nitrophenyloctyl ether as plasticizer has been investigated as Zn(II)‐selective electrode. The membrane incorporating 34.9% (w/w) PVC, 2.3% I , 4.7% OA and 58.1% o‐NPOE gave linear response over the concentration range 2.82×10?6?1.0×10?1 M with a Nernstian slope of 28.5±0.2 mV/decade of concentration with a detection limit of 2.24×10?6 M (0.146 ppm) and showed a response time of less than 10 s and could be used in pH range 2.5–8.5. High selectivity was obtained over a wide variety of metal ions. The proposed electrode was successfully used as an indicator electrode in potentiometric titration of zinc ions with EDTA and for determination of zinc in real samples.  相似文献

A highly selective membrane electrode for the determination of ultratrace amounts of lead was prepared. The PVC membrane electrode based on 2‐(2‐ethanoloxymethyl)‐1‐hydroxy‐9,10‐anthraquinone (AQ), directly coated on graphite, exhibits a good Nernstian response for Pb(II) ions over a very wide concentration range (1.0×10?7–1.0×10?2 M) with a limit of detection of 8.0×10?8 M. It has a fast response time of ca. 10 s and can be used over a period 2 months with good reproducibility (SD=±0.2 mV). The electrode revealed a very good selectivity respect to common alkali, alkaline earth, transition and heavy metal ions and could be used in the pH range of 3.5–6.8. It was used as an indicator electrode in potentiometric titration of lead ions with chromate and oxalate, and in indirect determination of lead in spring water samples.  相似文献
