A graphite-furnace atomic-absorption spectrometric method is described for the determination of total tin in geological materials. Samples are decomposed by fusion with lithium metaborate and the melt is dissolved in diluted (1 + 9) nitric acid. Spectral and non-spectral interferences are minimized by a combination of platform volatilization, “normal” heating rate, addition of ammonia as chemical modifier, use of integrated absorbance values and Zeeman background correction. Results are reported for six reference materials showing good accuracy and a precision of 12% at the 3 μg g?1 level. The detection limit for tin in the original materials in 0.7 μg g?1.  相似文献

In this determination of gallium, the condition of the graphite tubes influences the peak height. Common acids and salts seriously affect the results, but in the presence of EDTA, interferences of nitric and hydrochloric acids are suppressed completely, and interferences of phosphoric acid and some salts are suppressed partly. To compensate for the effects, a standard addition procedure is proposed, and is applied to healthy and tumor.bearing mice. A linear calibration is obtained for 0.12–12 ng Ga in 50-μl aliquots. The method is applied to tissues and body fluids with good recovery and precision.  相似文献

We have devised a new method for bis(tributyltin)oxide (TBTO) determination in marine sediments and mussels. This technique involves an n-hexane/methylene chloride mixture extraction and extract purification with a sodium hydroxide wash in order to eliminate interfering compounds. TBTO is then extracted again by nitric acid and converted into an inorganic tin species; the analysis has been effected using Zeeman graphite furnace-atomic absorption spectrophotometry. The method detection limit for the matrices examined is 0.004 μg TBTO g?1 (wet weight) and is sufficient for the analysis in real samples. The percentage recovery of TBTO from sediments and mussels samples is higher than 85% and 95% respectively. This method has been applied to TBTO level determination in sediments and mussels (Mytilus galloprovincialis) sampled in the harbour area in Taranto, where mussel culture activities are much developed; the TBTO levels obtained in sediments and mussels were in the range 15-47 ng g?1 (wet weight) and 11-30 ng g?1 (wet weight) respectively. Such values are comparable with those found in other harbour areas in the Mediterranean Sea.  相似文献

A comparison is made between a platform-equipped Perkin-Elmer HGA-500 and a recently designed two-step constant-temperature graphite furnace with respect to susceptibility to interference effects as well as attainable detection limits. It is shown that larger quantities of biological samples can be used with the constant-temperature furnace without suppressing the analyte signal, resulting in lower detection limits. Materials studied include NBS Olyster Tissue and Bovine Liver, and human lung tissue and human blood.  相似文献

Magnesium content is an important diagnostic parameter in medicine. It is recognized that its determination in one compartment is not sufficient for reliable information about the magnesium status in the body. In addition to the common procedures of magnesium determination in blood by flame atomic absorption spectrometry, the procedure of electrothermal atomization has also been developed and applied to the analysis of blood fractions, mononuclear cells and isolated nuclei of liver cells.Electrothermal atomization is preferred in cases where the sample size is limited and the magnesium content low. The total errors are in the order of 3–4%. Various techniques of sample pretreatment have been tested and direct dilution with 0.05 mol l−1 nitric acid was optimal when the samples were not mineralized. The calibration graph based on standards containing albumin was found to give the best results, as the form of magnesium in the samples may influence the ashing and atomization processes. Good agreement was obtained for determination of magnesium in standard serum. The results are compared with those obtained by the standard flame atomization technique.  相似文献

A procedure for the determination of the total content of arsenic in urine, serum and blood by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS) is described. Zeeman correction is used to compensate the high background signals. The samples are diluted (1 + 1 for urine and 1 + 3 for both serum and blood samples) in a medium containing 0.1% w/v Triton X-100 before being introduced directly into the furnace. A solution containing 15% w/v hydrogen peroxide, 0.65% w/v nitric acid and 0.5% w/v nickel is also introduced into the atomizer by means of a separate injection. Calibration is carried out against aqueous standards for blood and serum samples and using the standard additions method for urine samples. The detection limit is 20 pg (2 ng ml-1). The reliability of the procedure is checked by analyzing three certified reference materials and by recovery studies.  相似文献

A method was optimized for the determination of tin in slurries of marine sediment samples using palladium-magnesium nitrate as chemical modifier and Triton X-100 (0.1%) surfactant as stabilizer. To obtain a complete pyrolysis of the slurry sample, two charring steps were used, the first at 480 °C and the second at 1300 °C. The precision and accuracy of the method were studied using the Reference Material PACS-1 (marine sediment) from National Research Council Canada. The detection limit (LOD) was 57.6 μg kg-1. The method was applied to the determination of tin in marine sediment samples from the Galicia coast. Received: 16 February 1996/Revised: 26 March 1996/Accepted: 12 April 1996  相似文献

A comparison between two commonly used sample digestion procedures was performed for the determination of total chromium in biological matrices. Ten reference materials (terrestrial and marine matrices) have been digested in HNO3, HNO3 + HClO4 and HNO3 + HF, respectively, under pressure in quartz vessels of a high pressure asher (HPA) or in PTFE bombs with external heating. Much lower chromium values than expected were obtained in most of the reference materials by using quartz vessels with nitric acid because of adsorption of chromium at quartz surfaces. Determinations after sample digestion in PTFE vessels with external heating showed expected results, except in some reference materials which precipitated more silica. An improvement of the results was observed by using a mixture of nitric acid and perchloric acid, but only the combination of nitric acid and a small amount of HF provided the desired results in all the reference materials studied. The determination of tin is described with particular reference to the addition of organic compounds to the graphite tube for the suppression of interferences of other ions. Most were suppressed by adding 20 μl of 10% ascorbic acid to 20 μl of sample in the furnace. The method was used for the determination of tin in waste-waters and sediments.  相似文献

Electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETA-ASS) of gold with a molybdenum tube atomizer has been investigated. A sensitive ETA-AAS method was developed. The gold absorption signal became higher with the heating rate of the tube atomizer and as the ratio of hydrogen in the argon purge gas decreased. The optimal heating rate and the optimal gas flow rate were 5.5 C/msec and Ar 480 ml/min + H(2) 20 ml/min, respectively. The absolute characteristic mass (the mass of element giving 0.0044 abs.) of gold by the atomizer was 1.8 pg and the detection limit was 130 pg/ml (3S/N). These values were > 10 times better than those obtained with graphite atomizers, ICP and ICP-MS. The interferences caused by large amounts of interferents were evaluated. The addition of thiourea served to eliminate severe interferences. The recovery of spiked gold in biological materials was in the range of 101-106%.  相似文献

Thallium is determined in geological reference materials by acid digestion, extraction of thallium(III) from 0.5 M HBr solution into methyl isobutyl ketone and direct electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry. The method yields results that agree with published values, has a detection limit of 0.04 μg Tl g-1, and is relatively free of interferences.  相似文献

A molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) was synthesized by the precipitation polymerization method using triazophos (TAP) as the template. The MIP can selectively absorb TAP from sample solutions. The absorbed TAP strongly enhances the chemiluminescence (CL) of luminol-H2O2. This was applied to design a method for the on-line enrichment and detection of TAP. The change in CL intensity is linearly proportional to the concentration of TAP in the range from 1.0 μM to ~4.0 nM, and the detection limit is 2.5 nM (at an S/N of 3σ). This is about one order of magnitude lower than that of the conventional CL assay. The method was successfully applied to the determination of TAP in vegetable samples.  相似文献

Tin is reduced to stannane by sodium tetrahydroborate solution, passed through a heated silica tube and measured by atomic absorption specirometry at 286.33 nm. The detection limit is 0.9 ng ml-1 and the r.s.d. is 4.1% at 0.01 μg ml-1. Interferences are discussed and the sample decomposition procedure evaluated. Typical results obtained for macroalgae. fish and molluscs are given.  相似文献

The retention of cadmium by the bacteria Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas putida was optimized in order to develop a rapid and selective preconcentration method for cadmium from biological and environmental samples prior to determination by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry. Living and lyophilized cells for both bacteria were used, but the method using dead cells shows better analytical capabilities. Cadmium from aqueous solutions is easily retained on the outer membrane of both bacteria in the pH range 4-10, although the selected working pHs for E. coli and P. putida were 5 and 9, respectively. Cadmium retained by the bacteria was dispersed in 3.5 M nitric acid and the slurry was introduced directly into the graphite tube. The best sensitivity and detection limit were obtained for E. coli (0.03 ng ml(-1) and 0.04 ng ml(-1) respectively, in the absence of any chemical modifier). A strong spectral interference from nickel chloride was found and methods to overcome it were developed. The proposed extraction procedure was tested by the determination of cadmium in different standard biological and environmental samples.  相似文献

A rapid and simple method for separation and determination of tributyltin (TBT) in mineral and tap water is described. The procedure is based on the selective retention of TBT by a chelating resin, Amberlite XAD-2 impregnated with tropolone. The addition of 0.8% sulfuric acid to the water sample leads to the retention of TBT by the resin while monobutyltin (MBT), dibutyltin (DBT) and inorganic tin remain in solution. TBT is eluted with methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) obtaining a preconcentration factor of 80. Tin concentration is determined by ETAAS using zirconium coated tubes. Multi-injection and hot injection techniques are used in order to enhance the sensitivity of the method. A detection limit of 14.4 ng L(-1) is achieved with recoveries near to 100%. The procedure has been successfully applied to TBT determination in various fresh water samples.  相似文献

A method is described for the determination of total tin in silicate rocks utilizing a graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometer with a stabilized-temperature platform furnace and Zeeman-effect background correction. The sample is decomposed by lithium metaborate fusion (3 + 1) in graphite crucibles with the melt being dissolved in 7.5% hydrochloric acid. Tin extractions (4 + 1 or 8 + 1) are executed on portions of the acid solutions using a 4% solution of trioctylphosphine oxide in methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK). Ascorbic acid is added as a reducing agent prior to extraction. A solution of diammonium hydrogenphosphate and magnesium nitrate is used as a matrix modifier in the graphite furnace determination. The limit of detection is > 10 pg, equivalent to > 1 μg l?1 of tin in the MIBK solution or 0.2–0.3 μg g?1 in the rock. The concentration range is linear between 2.5 and 500 μg l?1 tin in solution. The precision, measured as relative standard deviation, is < 20% at the 2.5 μg l?1 level and < 7% at the 10–30 μg l?1 level of tin. Excellent agreement with recommended literature values was found when the method was applied to the international silicate rock standards BCR-1, PCC-1, GSP-1, AGV-1, STM-1, JGb-1 and Mica-Fe. Application was made to the determination of tin in geological core samples with total tin concentrations of the order of 1 μg g?1 or less.  相似文献

Summary The electrothermal atomization of selenium has been investigated for the accurate determination of selenium in water samples. Hydrogen seriously affects the atomization temperature of selenium in a molybdenum micro-tube atomizer. The atomization of selenium also suffers from serious interferences caused by salts and other elements. The extraction of selenium diethyldithiocarbamate complex serves to eliminate the interferences from the matrix. The addition of copper allows the suppression of interferences from elements extracted with selenium. The method permits the determination of selenium(IV) and selenium(VI) separately. This research was in part funded by the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture, Japan, under Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research, for which we express our appreciation.  相似文献

Palladium, iridium, and rhodium are evaluated as possible chemical modifiers in the determination of As in digest solutions of biological materials (human hair and clam) by tungsten coil electrothermal atomic absorption spectrophotometry (TCA-AAS). The modifier in solution was applied onto the coil and thermally pre-reduced; the pre-reduction conditions, the amount of modifier, and the thermal program were optimized. Palladium was not satisfactory, whereas Ir and Rh were effective modifiers and rendered better relative sensitivity for As by a factor of 1.4 and 1.9, respectively compared to the case without modifier. Upon optimization of thermal conditions for As in pre-reduced Ir (2.0 µg) and Rh (2.0 µg) modifiers and in the digest solutions of the study matrices, Rh (2.0 µg) was more effective modifier and was selected as such. The mean within-day repeatability was 2.8% in consecutive measurements (25–100 µg L–1) (3 cycles, each of n=6) and confirmed good short-term stability of the absorbance measurements. The mean reproducibility was 4.4% (n=20 in a 3-day period) and the detection limit (3 blank/slope) was 29 pg (n=15). The useful coil lifetime in Rh modifier was extended to 300–400 firings. Validation was by determination of As in the certified reference material (CRM) of Oyster tissue solution with a percentage relative error (E rel%) of 2% and percentage relative standard deviation (RSD%) of 3% (n=4), and by analytical recovery of As spiked in CRM of human hair [94±8% (n=4)]. The methodology is simple, fast (sample readout frequency 21 h–1), reliable, of low cost, and was applied to the determination of As in hair samples of exposed and unexposed workers.  相似文献
