Let G be a nonsolvable group and Irr(G) the set of irreducible complex characters of G. We consider the nonsolvable groups whose character degrees have special 2-parts and prove that if χ(1)2 = 1 or |G|2 for every χ ∈ Irr(G), then there exists a minimal normal subgroup N of G such that N ≅ PSL(2, 2n) and G/N is an odd order group.  相似文献

The prime graph of a finite group G, which is denoted by GK(G), is a simple graph whose vertex set is comprised of the prime divisors of |G| and two distinct prime divisors p and q are joined by an edge if and only if there exists an element of order pq in G. Let p12<?<pk be all prime divisors of |G|. Then the degree pattern of G is defined as D(G) = (degG(p1), degG(p2), ? , degG(pk)), where degG(p) signifies the degree of the vertex p in GK(G). A finite group H is said to be OD-characterizable if G? H for every finite group G such that |G| = |H| and D(G) = D(H). The purpose of this article is threefold. First, it finds sharp upper and lower bounds on ?(G), the sum of degrees of all vertices in GK(G), for any finite group G (Theorem 2.1). Second, it provides the degree of vertices 2 and the characteristic p of the base field of any finite simple group of Lie type in their prime graphs (Propositions 3.1-3.7). Third, it proves the linear groups L4(q), q = 19, 23, 27, 29, 31, 32, and 37, are OD-characterizable (Theorem 4.2).  相似文献

Let G be a graph and f : G → G be a continuous map. Denote by h(f), P(f), AP(f), R(f)and ω(x, f) the topological entropy of f, the set of periodic points of f, the set of almost periodic points of f, the set of recurrent points of f and the ω-limit set of x under f, respectively. In this paper,we show that the following statements are equivalent:(1) h(f) 0.(2) There exists an x ∈ G such that ω(x, f) ∩ P(f) = ? and ω(x, f) is an infinite set.(3) There exists an x ∈ G such that ω(x, f)contains two minimal sets.(4) There exist x, y ∈ G such that ω(x, f)-ω(y, f) is an uncountable set and ω(y, f) ∩ω(x, f) = ?.(5) There exist an x ∈ G and a closed subset A ? ω(x, f) with f(A) ? A such that ω(x, f)-A is an uncountable set.(6) R(f)-AP(f) = ?.(7) f |P(f)is not pointwise equicontinuous.  相似文献

The following results are obtained. (i) Let p, d, and k be fixed positive integers, and let G be a graph whose vertex set can be partitioned into parts V1, V2,…, Va such that for each i at most d vertices in V1Vi have neighbors in Vi+1 and r(Kk, Vi) p | V(G) |, where Vi denotes the subgraph of G induced by Vi. Then there exists a number c depending only on p, d, and k such that r(Kk, G)c | V(G) |. (ii) Let d be a positive integer and let G be a graph in which there is an independent set I V(G) such that each component of GI has at most d vertices and at most two neighbors in I. Then r(G,G)c | V(G) |, where c is a number depending only on d. As a special case, r(G, G) 6 | V(G) | for a graph G in which all vertices of degree at least three are independent. The constant 6 cannot be replaced by one less than 4.  相似文献

Let G = (V,E) be a graph with m edges. For reals p ∈ [0, 1] and q = 1- p, let mp(G) be the minimum of qe(V1) +pe(V2) over partitions V = V1V2, where e(Vi) denotes the number of edges spanned by Vi. We show that if mp(G) = pqm-δ, then there exists a bipartition V1, V2 of G such that e(V1) ≤ p2m - δ + pm/2 + o(√m) and e(V2) ≤ q2m - δ + qm/2 + o(√m) for δ = o(m2/3). This is sharp for complete graphs up to the error term o(√m). For an integer k ≥ 2, let fk(G) denote the maximum number of edges in a k-partite subgraph of G. We prove that if fk(G) = (1 - 1/k)m + α, then G admits a k-partition such that each vertex class spans at most m/k2 - Ω(m/k7.5) edges for α = Ω(m/k6). Both of the above improve the results of Bollobás and Scott.  相似文献

Let B(G) denote the bipartite double cover of a non-bipartite graph G with v≥2 vertices and ? edges. We prove that G is a perfect 2-matching covered graph if and only if B(G) is a 1-extendable graph. Furthermore, we prove that B(G) is a minimally 1-extendable graph if and only if G is a minimally perfect 2-matching covered graph and for each e = xyE(G), there is an independent set S in G such that |ΓG(S)| = |S| + 1, x S and |ΓG-xy(S) | = |S|. Then, we construct a digraph D from B(G) or G and show that D is a strongly connected digraph if and only if G is a perfect 2-matching covered graph. So we design an algorithm in O(v?) time that determines whether G is a perfect 2-matching covered graph or not.  相似文献

A subgroup H of a finite group G is said to be s-semipermutable in G if it is permutable with every Sylow p-subgroup of G with (p, |H|) = 1. We say that a subgroup H of a finite group G is S-semiembedded in G if there exists an s-permutable subgroup T of G such that TH is s-permutable in G and THHs¯G, where Hs¯G is an s-semipermutable subgroup of G contained in H. In this paper, we investigate the influence of S-semiembedded subgroups on the structure of finite groups.  相似文献

Let G be a solvable block transitive automorphism group of a 2−(v,5,1) design and suppose that G is not flag transitive. We will prove that
(1) if G is point imprimitive, then v=21, and GZ21:Z6;
(2) if G is point primitive, then GAΓL(1,v) and v=pa, where p is a prime number with p≡21 (mod 40), and a an odd integer.

Let σ={σi|i∈I} be some partition of the set of all primes P, G a finite group and σ(G)={σi|σiπ(G)≠∅}. A set H of subgroups of G is said to be a complete Hall σ-set of G if every member≠1 of H is a Hall σi-subgroup of G for some σiσ and H contains exactly one Hall σi-subgroup of G for every σiσ(G). A subgroup H of G is said to be:σ-semipermutable in G with respect to H if HHix=HixH for all xG and all HiH such that (|H|,|Hi|)=1; σ-semipermutable in G if H is σ-semipermutable in G with respect to some complete Hall σ-set of G. We study the structure of G being based on the assumption that some subgroups of G are σ-semipermutable in G.  相似文献

A k-connected graph G is said to be critically k-connected if Gv is not k-connected for any vV(G). We show that if n,k are integers with k4 and nk+2, and G is a critically k-connected graph of order n, then |E(G)|n(n−1)/2−p(nk)+p2/2, where p=(n/k)+1 if n/k is an odd integer and p=n/k otherwise. We also characterize extremal graphs.  相似文献

Let L be the set of all additive and hereditary properties of graphs. For P1, P2 L we define the reducible property R = P1 P2 as follows: G P1P2 if there is a bipartition (V1, V2) of V(G) such that V1 P1 and V2 P2. For a property P L, a reducible property R is called a minimal reducible bound for P if P R and for each reducible property R′, RRP R′. It is proved that the class of all outerplanar graphs has exactly two minimal reducible bounds in L. Some related problems for planar graphs are discussed.  相似文献

A graph G is said to be n-factor-critical if GS has a 1-factor for any SV(G) with |S|=n. In this paper, we prove that if G is a 2-connected n-factor-critical graph of order p with , then G is hamiltonian with some exceptions. To extend this theorem, we define a (k,n)-factor-critical graph to be a graph G such that GS has a k-factor for any SV(G) with |S|=n. We conjecture that if G is a 2-connected (k,n)-factor-critical graph of order p with , then G is hamiltonian with some exceptions. In this paper, we characterize all such graphs that satisfy the assumption, but are not 1-tough. Using this, we verify the conjecture for k2.  相似文献

Let G be a planar graph with n vertices, v be a specified vertex of G, and P be a set of n points in the Euclidian plane in general position. A straight-line embedding of G onto P is an embedding of G onto whose images of vertices are distinct points in P and whose images of edges are (straight) line segments. In this paper, we classify into five classes those pairs of G and v such that for any P and any p P, G has a straight-line embedding onto P which maps v to p. We then show that all graphs in three of the classes indeed have such an embedding. This result gives a solution to a generalized version of the rooted-tree embedding problem raised by M. Perles.  相似文献

Let G be a simple graph. The size of any largest matching in G is called the matching number of G and is denoted by ν(G). Define the deficiency of G, def(G), by the equation def(G)=|V(G)|−2ν(G). A set of points X in G is called an extreme set if def(GX)=def(G)+|X|. Let c0(G) denote the number of the odd components of G. A set of points X in G is called a barrier if c0(GX)=def(G)+|X|. In this paper, we obtain the following:

(1) Let G be a simple graph containing an independent set of size i, where i2. If X is extreme in G for every independent set X of size i in G, then there exists a perfect matching in G.

(2) Let G be a connected simple graph containing an independent set of size i, where i2. Then X is extreme in G for every independent set X of size i in G if and only if G=(U,W) is a bipartite graph with |U|=|W|i, and |Γ(Y)||U|−i+m+1 for any Y U, |Y|=m (1mi−1).

(3) Let G be a connected simple graph containing an independent set of size i, where i2. Then X is a barrier in G for every independent set X of size i in G if and only if G=(U,W) is a bipartite graph with |U|=|W|=i, and |Γ(Y)|m+1 for any Y U, |Y|=m (1mi−1).  相似文献

The stability is an expected property for functions,which is widely considered in the study of approximation theory and wavelet analysis.In this paper,we consider the Lp,q-stability of the shifts of finitely many functions in mixed Lebesgue spaces L~(p,q)(R~(d+1)).We first show that the shiftsφ(·-k)(k∈Z~(d+1))are Lp,q-stable if and only if for anyξ∈R~(d+1),∑_(k∈Z~(d+1))|φ(ξ+2πk)|~20.Then we give a necessary and sufficient condition for the shifts of finitely many functions in mixed Lebesgue spaces L~(p,q)(R~(d+1))to be Lp,q-stable which improves some known results.  相似文献

Suppose that H is a subgroup of a finite group G. We call H is semipermutable in G if HK = KH for any subgroup K of G such that (|H|, |K|) = 1; H is s-semipermutable in G if HGp = GpH, for any Sylow p-subgroup Gp of G such that (|H|, p) = 1. These two concepts have been received the attention of many scholars in group theory since they were introduced by Professor Zhongmu Chen in 1987. In recent decades, there are a lot of papers published via the application of these concepts. Here we summarize the results in this area and gives some thoughts in the research process.  相似文献

We consider the following model Hr(n, p) of random r-uniform hypergraphs. The vertex set consists of two disjoint subsets V of size | V | = n and U of size | U | = (r − 1)n. Each r-subset of V × (r−1U) is chosen to be an edge of H ε Hr(n, p) with probability p = p(n), all choices being independent. It is shown that for every 0 < < 1 if P = (C ln n)/nr−1 with C = C() sufficiently large, then almost surely every subset V1 V of size | V1 | = (1 − )n is matchable, that is, there exists a matching M in H such that every vertex of V1 is contained in some edge of M.  相似文献

We study the concept of strong equality of domination parameters. Let P1 and P2 be properties of vertex subsets of a graph, and assume that every subset of V(G) with property P2 also has property P1. Let ψ1(G) and ψ2(G), respectively, denote the minimum cardinalities of sets with properties P1 and P2, respectively. Then ψ1(G2(G). If ψ1(G)=ψ2(G) and every ψ1(G)-set is also a ψ2(G)-set, then we say ψ1(G) strongly equals ψ2(G), written ψ1(G)≡ψ2(G). We provide a constructive characterization of the trees T such that γ(T)≡i(T), where γ(T) and i(T) are the domination and independent domination numbers, respectively. A constructive characterization of the trees T for which γ(T)=γt(T), where γt(T) denotes the total domination number of T, is also presented.  相似文献

Let G =(V, E) be a simple graph. A function f : E → {+1,-1} is called a signed cycle domination function(SCDF) of G if ∑_(e∈E(C))f(e) ≥ 1 for every induced cycle C of G. The signed cycle domination number of G is defined as γ'_(sc)(G) = min{∑_(e∈E)f(e)| f is an SCDF of G}. This paper will characterize all maximal planar graphs G with order n ≥ 6 and γ'_(sc)(G) = n.  相似文献
