The aim of this paper is to present the analytical solutions corresponding to two types of unsteady unidirectional flows of a generalized Oldroyd-B fluid with fractional derivative between two parallel plates. The fractional calculus approach is used in solving the problems. The velocity distributions are determined by means of discrete Laplace transform and finite Fourier sine transform. The obtained results indicate that some well known solutions for the generalized second grade fluid, the generalized Maxwell fluid as well as the ordinary Oldroyd-B fluid appear as the limiting cases of the presented results.  相似文献

The unsteady helical flow of an Oldroyd-B fluid, in an infinite circular cylinder, is studied by using finite Hankel transforms. The motion is produced by the cylinder that, at time t = 0+, is subject to torsional and longitudinal time-dependent shear stresses. The solutions that have been obtained, presented under series form, satisfy all imposed initial and boundary conditions. The corresponding solutions for Maxwell, second grade and Newtonian fluids are obtained as limiting cases of general solutions. Finally, the influence of the pertinent parameters on the fluid motion is underlined by graphical illustrations.  相似文献

This paper presents an analysis for magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow of an incompressible generalized Oldroyd-B fluid inducing by an accelerating plate. Where the no-slip assumption between the wall and the fluid is no longer valid. The fractional calculus approach is introduced to establish the constitutive relationship of a viscoelastic fluid. Closed form solutions for velocity and shear stress are obtained in terms of Fox H-function by using the discrete Laplace transform of the sequential fractional derivatives. The solutions for no-slip condition and no magnetic field can be derived as the special cases. Furthermore, the effects of various parameters on the corresponding flow and shear stress characteristics are analyzed and discussed in detail.  相似文献

Considering a fractional derivative model the unsteady flow of an Oldroyd-B fluid between two infinite coaxial circular cylinders is studied by using finite Hankel and Laplace transforms. The motion is produced by the inner cylinder which is subject to a time dependent longitudinal shear stress at time t = 0+. The solution obtained under series form in terms of generalized G and R functions, satisfy all imposed initial and boundary conditions. The corresponding solutions for ordinary Oldroyd-B, generalized and ordinary Maxwell, and Newtonian fluids are obtained as limiting cases of our general solutions. The influence of pertinent parameters on the fluid motion as well as a comparison between models is illustrated graphically.  相似文献

This paper presents an analysis for helical flows of a heated generalized Oldroyd-B fluid subject to a time-dependent shear stress in porous medium, where the motion is due to the longitudinal time-dependent shear stress and the oscillating velocity in boundary. The exact solutions are established by using the sequential fractional derivatives Laplace transform coupled with finite Hankel transforms in terms of generalized G function. Moreover, the effects of various parameters (relaxation time, fractional parameter, permeability and porosity) on the flow and heat transfer are analyzed in detail by graphical illustrations.  相似文献

In the present work, the exact analytic solutions for some oscillating flows of a generalized second grade fluid are investigated using Fourier sine and Laplace transforms. A more appropriate model is presented for fluid material between viscous and elastic to introduce the fractional calculus approach into the constitutive relationship. This paper employs the fractional calculus approach to study second grade fluid flows. In order to avoid lengthy calculations of residues and contour integrals, the discrete inverse Laplace transform method has been used. Similar solutions for second grade fluid appear as the limiting cases of our solutions. The influence of pertinent parameters on the flows is delineated and appropriate conclusions are drawn.  相似文献

This paper deals with some accelerated flows of generalized Oldroyd-B fluid between two side walls perpendicular to the plate. The fractional calculus approach is used in the constitutive relationship of the Oldroyd-B fluid. The exact analytic solution is obtained by means of mixed Fourier sine transform and discrete Laplace transform for fractional derivative.  相似文献

By using reproducing kernel theorem, a new method for solving a class of partial differential equation with fractional derivatives is proposed. We give the exact solution by a series form in the reproducing kernel space, and the n ‐term approximate solution is obtained from truncating the series. Moreover, the approximate solution, its integer order derivatives and fractional derivatives are uniformly convergent. The method is easy to implement and is verified by the numerical results. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 27: 1599–1609, 2011  相似文献

In this work, the problems dealing with unsteady unidirectional flows of an Oldroyd-B fluid in a porous medium are investigated. By using modified Darcy's law of an Oldroyd-B fluid, the equations governing the flow are modelled. Employing Fourier sine transform, the analytic solutions of the modelled equations are developed for the following two problems: (i) constant accelerated flow, (ii) variable accelerated flow. Explicit expressions for the velocity field and adequate tangential stress are obtained in each case. The solutions for Newtonian, second grade and Maxwell fluids in a porous medium appear as the limiting cases of the present analysis.  相似文献

This paper deals with exact solutions for some oscillating motions of a generalized Oldroyd-B fluid. The fractional calculus approach is used in the constitutive relationship of fluid model. Analytical expressions for the velocity field and the corresponding shear stress for flows due to oscillations of an infinite flat plate as well as those induced by an oscillating pressure gradient are determined using Fourier sine and Laplace transforms. The obtained solutions are presented under integral and series forms in terms of the Mittag–Leffler functions. For α = β = 1, our solutions tend to the similar solutions for ordinary Oldroyd-B fluid. A comparison between generalized and ordinary Oldroyd-B fluids is shown by means of graphical illustrations.  相似文献

This paper presents the new exact analytical solutions for magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flows of an Oldroyd-B fluid. The explicit expressions for the velocity field and the associated tangential stress are established by using the Laplace transform method. Three characteristic examples: (i) flow due to impulsive motion of plate, (ii) flow due to uniformly accelerated plate, and (iii) flow due to non-uniformly accelerated plate are considered. The solutions for the hydrodynamic flows are special cases of the presented solutions. Moreover, the similar solutions corresponding to Maxwell and Newtonian fluids in the presence as well as absence of a magnetic field appear as the limiting cases of our solutions. The influences of the exerted magnetic field on the flow are also graphically presented and discussed. In particular, graphical results for the Oldroyd-B fluid are compared with those of a Newtonian fluid.  相似文献

Fluid solid mixtures are generally considered as second grade fluids and are modeled as fluids with variable physical parameters. Thus, an analysis is performed for a second grade fluid with space dependent viscosity, elasticity and density. Two types of time-dependent flows are investigated. An eigen function expansion method is used to find the velocity distribution. The obtained solutions satisfy the boundary and initial conditions and the governing equation. Remarkably some exact analytic solutions are possible for flows involving second grade fluid with variable material properties in terms of trigonometric and Chebyshev functions.  相似文献

The one-dimensional fractional derivative Maxwell model (e.g. Palade, et al., Rheol. Acta 35 (1996) 265), of importance in modeling the linear viscoelastic response in the glass transition region, has been generalized in Palade, et al., Internat. J. Engrg. Sci. 37 (1999) 315, to objective three-dimensional constitutive equations (CEs) for both fluids and solids. Regarding the rest state stability of the fluid CE, in Heibig and Palade, J. Math. Phys. 49 (2008) 043101, we gave a proof for the existence of weak solutions to the corresponding boundary value problem. The aim of this work is to achieve the study of the existence and uniqueness of the aforementioned solutions and to present smoothness results.  相似文献
