We report Raman light-scattering and optical conductivity measurements on a single crystal of La1.775Sr0.225NiO4 which exhibits incommensurate charge-stripe order. The extra phonon peaks induced by stripe order can be understood in terms of the energies of phonons that occur at the charge-order wave vector Q(c). A strong Fano antiresonance for a Ni-O bond-stretching mode provides clear evidence for finite dynamical conductivity within the charge stripes.  相似文献

The low-frequency dielectric response of hole-doped insulators La(2)Cu(1-x)Li(x)O(4) and La(2-x)Sr(x)NiO(4) shows a large dielectric constant epsilon(') at high temperature and a steplike drop by a factor of 100 at a material-dependent low temperature T(f). T(f) increases with frequency, and the dielectric response shows universal scaling in a Cole-Cole plot, suggesting that a charge-glass state is realized both in the cuprates and in the nickelates.  相似文献

We have investigated charge dynamics and electronic structures for single crystals of metallic layered nickelates, R(2-x)Sr(x)NiO4 (R = Nd, Eu), isostructural to La(2-x)Sr(x)CuO4. Angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy on the barely metallic Eu(0.9)Sr(1.1)NiO4 (R = Eu, x = 1.1) has revealed a large hole surface of x2-y2 character with a high-energy pseudogap of the same symmetry and comparable magnitude with those of underdoped (x<0.1) cuprates, although the antiferromagnetic interactions are 1 order of magnitude smaller. This finding strongly indicates that the momentum-dependent pseudogap feature in the layered nickelate arises from the real-space charge correlation.  相似文献

We used ultrafast resonant soft x-ray diffraction to probe the picosecond dynamics of spin and orbital order in La(0.5)Sr(1.5)MnO(4) after photoexcitation with a femtosecond pulse of 1.5 eV radiation. Complete melting of antiferromagnetic spin order is evidenced by the disappearance of a (1/4,1/4,1/2) diffraction peak. On the other hand, the (1/4,1/4,0) diffraction peak, reflecting orbital order, is only partially reduced. We interpret the results as evidence of destabilization in the short-range exchange pattern with no significant relaxation of the long-range Jahn-Teller distortions. Cluster calculations are used to analyze different possible magnetically ordered states in the long-lived metastable phase. Nonthermal coupling between light and magnetism emerges as a primary aspect of photoinduced phase transitions in manganites.  相似文献

In this paper, the electronic transport of La(0.7)(Sr,Ca)(0.3)MnO(3) films grown by pulsed laser deposition on a LaAlO(3)(001) substrate with deep parallel structured steps and a 30° symmetric bicrystal SrTiO(3)(001) substrate have been discussed. The electronic transport properties have been related to the well-known extrinsic transport of bulk manganite compounds. The spin-glass-like behavior with a characteristic peak at 20 K and domain formation at the grain boundary is observed. Further, it has been quantified from the resonant tunneling model that mixed magnetic interactions play a significant role in the manganite films deposited on step edges.  相似文献

Unpolarized and polarized neutron diffraction measurements have been carried out on the bilayer manganite (La0.4Pr0.6)1.2Sr1.8Mn2O7 which undergoes simultaneous semiconductor-metal paraferromagnetic transitions under magnetic field. Maximum entropy magnetization density reconstruction and multipole refinement on flipping ratios evidence the existence of two distinct field-induced states. The field-induced ferromagnetic state where the field is parallel to the c axis is characterized by the presence of magnetic moment on the Sr site of 0.48(2)mu(B), due to the Pr substitution. It also shows a high population of the d3(z(2)-r(2)) orbitals of Mn3+. For the field-induced state where the field is parallel to the a or b axes no magnetization density was found at the Sr site and the dx(2)(-y(2)) orbital is slightly more populated than the d3(z(2)-r(2)) one.  相似文献

We have investigated the pressure effect on T(c) and the Hall coefficient in the static stripe-ordered phase of La(1.48)Nd(0.4)Sr(0.12)CuO(4) crystal under hydrostatic pressure. We found a dramatic change of the Hall coefficient and an abrupt increase of T(c) at low pressure of about 0.1 GPa. The results are indicative of a transition from one- to two-dimensional charge transport, associated with the suppression of low-temperature-tetragonal (LTT) phase. From the uniaxial pressure measurements it turns out that the observed critical change is induced primarily due to the in-plane compression of the CuO(2) planes which would make the pinning potential of the LTT lattice distortions weaker.  相似文献

The present systematic Raman scattering experiments reveal the phason and amplitudon of the charge density wave (CDW) mode in the charge stripes of La(2-x)Sr(x)CuO4. Only about 15% of the electronic density of states condenses into the CDW state. The symmetries of the CDW modes change by the rotation of the stripes at the insulator-metal transition. The energy of the phason is finite at 0.06 < or = x < or = 0.1 and zero at x = 0.035 and 0.115 < or = x < or = 0.135, which suggests that the CDW is commensurate at 0.06 < or = x < or = 0.1 and incommensurate otherwise. The zero-energy phason seems to reduce T(c) at x = 1/8.  相似文献

Using high-resolution x-ray scattering, we have demonstrated the existence of quenched disordered charge stripes in a single crystal of La (5/3)Sr (1/3)NiO (4) at low temperatures. Above the second-order transition critical scattering was observed due to fluctuations into the charge stripe phase. The charge stripes are shown to be two dimensional in nature both by measurements of their correlation lengths (xi(a) approximately 185 A, xi(b) = 400 A, and xi(c) approximately 25 A) and by the critical exponents of the charge strip transition. The charge stripe ordering did not develop long-range order even at low temperatures, indicating that the charge stripes are disordered and that the length scale of the disorder is quenched.  相似文献

Orbital ordering (OO) in the layered perovskite La0.5Sr1.5MnO4 has been investigated using the enhanced sensitivity of soft x-ray resonant diffraction at the Mn L edges. The energy dependence of an OO diffraction peak over the L(2,3) edges is compared to ligand-field calculations allowing a distinction between the influences of Jahn-Teller distortions and spin correlations. The energy dependence of the diffraction peak at the Mn L1 edge is remarkably different from that observed at the Mn K edge.  相似文献

High resolution angle-resolved photoemission measurements have been carried out on (La(1.4--x)-Nd(0.6)Sr(x))CuO(4), a model system with static one-dimensional (1D) charge ordering (stripe), and (La(1.85)-Sr(0.15))CuO(4), a high temperature superconductor (T(c) = 40 K) with possible dynamic stripes. In addition to the straight segments near ( pi,0) and ( 0,pi) antinodal regions, we have identified the existence of spectral weight along the [1,1] nodal direction in the electronic structure of both systems. This observation of nodal state, together with the straight segments near antinodal regions, reveals the dual nature of the electronic structure of stripes due to the competition of order and disorder.  相似文献

Muon-spin-rotation (muSR) measurements of the in-plane penetration depth lambda(ab) have been performed in the infinite-layer electron-doped Sr0.9La0.1CuO2 high-T(c) superconductor (HTS). Absence of the magnetic rare-earth ions in this compound allowed us to measure for the first time the absolute value of lambda(ab)(0) in electron-doped HTSs using muSR. We found lambda(ab)(0)=116(2) nm. The zero-temperature depolarization rate sigma(0) proportional, variant 1/lambda(2)(ab)(0)=4.6(1) micros(-1) is more than 4 times higher than expected from the Uemura line. Therefore, this electron-doped HTS does not follow the Uemura relation found for hole-doped HTSs.  相似文献

Far-infrared reflectivity along the c axis in T* phase SmLa(1-x)Sr(x)CuO(4-delta) single crystals is measured down to 8 cm(-1). Below T(c), the conductivity peak is observed at 25 cm(-1) for x = 0.15 ( T(c) = 30 K) along with two reflectivity edges at 13 and 27 cm(-1). The conductivity peak is attributed to the transverse Josephson plasma mode between two longitudinal Josephson plasma modes, while the oscillator strength of the peak is found to be smaller than that calculated using the Josephson-coupled multilayer model. The difference is explained by assuming that only a few junctions at the disordered (La,Sr)(2)O(2-delta) block layer take part in the plasma oscillation with omega(pI(')) = 27 cm(-1).  相似文献

The in-plane magnetic field penetration depth (lambda(ab)) in single-crystal La1.83Sr0.17CuO4 was investigated by muon-spin rotation (muSR). The temperature dependence of lambda(ab)(-2) has an inflection point around 10-15 K, suggesting the presence of two superconducting gaps: a large gap (Delta(1)(d)) with d-wave and a small gap (Delta(2)(s)) with s-wave symmetry. The zero-temperature values of the gaps at mu(0)H=0.02 T were found to be Delta(1)(d)(0)=8.2(1) meV and Delta(2)(s)(0)=1.57(8) meV.  相似文献

Strong resonant enhancements of the charge-order and spin-order superstructure-diffraction intensities in La1.8Sr0.2NiO4 are observed when x-ray energies in the vicinity of the Ni L2,3 absorption edges are used. The pronounced photon-energy and polarization dependences of these diffraction intensities allow for a critical determination of the local symmetry of the ordered spin and charge carriers. We found that not only the antiferromagnetic order but also the charge-order superstructure resides within the NiO2 layers; the holes are mainly located on in-plane oxygens surrounding a Ni2+ site with the spins coupled antiparallel in close analogy to Zhang-Rice singlets in the cuprates.  相似文献

High spin states of the odd-A87Sr were populated by the fusion-evaporation reaction82Se(9Be,4n)87Sr at a beam energy of 46 MeV. Excited levels of87 Sr have been extended up to an excitation energy of 7.4 MeV at spin31/2. The coupling of a g9/2neutron hole to the yrast states of the88 Sr core can account for the low-lying states in87 Sr. The structure of the higher spin states is discussed by analogy with those of the neighboring odd-A N =49isotones and possible configurations are proposed.  相似文献

We present evidence that the insulator-to-metal transition in La(1-x)Ca(x)MnO3 near x approximately 0.2 is driven by the suppression of coherent Jahn-Teller distortions, originating from d-type orbital ordering. The orbital-ordered state is characterized by large long-range Q2 distortions below T(O'- O*). Above T(O'- O*) we find evidence for coexistence between an orbital-ordered and an orbital-disordered state. This behavior is discussed in terms of electronic phase separation in an orbital-ordered insulating and an orbital-disordered metallic state.  相似文献

When sufficient numbers of holes are introduced into the two-dimensional CuO2 square lattice, dynamic magnetic correlations become incommensurate with underlying lattice in all previously investigated La(2-x)A(x)Cu(1-z)B(z)O(4+y) ( A = Sr or Nd, B = Zn) including high T(c) superconductors and insulators, and in bilayered superconducting YBa2Cu3O6.6 and Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8. Magnetic correlations also become incommensurate in structurally related La2NiO4 when doped with Sr or O. We report an exception to this so-far well-established experimental "rule" in La(2)Cu(1-z)Li(z)O4 in which magnetic correlations remain commensurate.  相似文献

We report the first direct resonant soft x-ray scattering observations of orbital ordering. We have studied the low temperature phase of La0.5Sr1.5MnO4, a compound that displays charge and orbital ordering. Previous claims of orbital ordering in such materials have relied on observations at the manganese K edge. These claims have been questioned in several theoretical studies. Instead we have employed resonant soft x-ray scattering at the manganese L(III) and L(II) edges which probes the orbital ordering directly. Energy scans at constant wave vector are compared to theoretical predictions and suggest that at all temperatures there are two separate contributions to the scattering: direct orbital ordering and strong cooperative Jahn-Teller distortions of the Mn3+ ions.  相似文献
