Most of the measured events on hydrogen, deuterium and neon targets from BEBC at CERN and the 15-foot Bubble Chamber at Fermilab are combined to measure spin-density matrix elements for 0 production in the current-fragmentation region in neutrino and antineutrino charged-current interactions. The spin-alignment parameter is found to be 0.08±0.11 for neutrino and 0.41±0.11 for antineutrino interactions. The parity-odd density matrix element Im(10+–10) is consistent with zero in both reactions. In the combined neutrino and antineutrino data an indication of parity violation is observed: Im 1–1=0.38±0.16 atx B >0.2,Q 2>8 GeV2 andz>0.6.  相似文献

The transverse momentum properties of charged hadrons produced in charged current ν and \(\bar v\) deuterium interactions are studied. The variation of <P t 2 > withW 2,Q 2,x F andz 2 is analyzed. A study of transverse momentum balance shows that soft gluon emission and some quark primordial transverse momentum with <k t 2 >?(0.4 GeV/c)2 are needed to balance highp t particles. Distributions ofp tin andP tout in and out of the event plane are presented. A three jet structure is observed for events withW 2>50 (GeV2) and with a highp t track, which is compatible with models taking into account hard gluon emission.  相似文献

The divergent large-order behaviour of the perturbative series relevant for the determination of s from decay is controlled by the leading ultraviolet (UV) renormalon. Even in the absence of the first infrared (IR) renormalon, an ambiguity of order 2/m 2 is introduced. We make a quantitative study of the practical implications of this ambiguity. We discuss the magnitude of UV renormalon corrections obtained in the large-N f limit, which, although unrealistic, is nevertheless interesting to some extent. We then study a number of improved approximants for the perturbative series, based on a change of variable in the Borel representation, such as to displace the leading UV renormalon singularity at a larger distance from the origin than the first IR renormalon. The spread of the resulting values of s (m 2) obtained by different approximants, at different renormalization scales, is exhibited as a measure of the underlying ambiguities. Finally, on the basis of mathematical models, we discuss the prospects of an actual improvement, given the signs and magnitudes of the computed coefficients, the size of s (m 2) and what is known of the asymptotic properties of the series. Our conclusion is that a realistic estimate of the theoretical error cannot go below s (m 2)±0.060, or s (m Z 2)±0.006.On leave of absence from INFN, Sezione di Milano, Milan, Italy  相似文献

Assuming the partons within the initial hadrons to have transverse momentum we have calculated in the framework of the fusion process the transverse angular distributions of the charm pairs and of the ψψ pairs produced in hadronic collisions. The transverse angle is defined as \(\cos \phi = P_{T3} \cdot P_{T4} /(|P_{T3} ||P_{T4} |)\) wherep T3 andp T4 are the transverse momenta of the charm pairs/ψψ pairs. By comparing with the data we find that the effective transverse momentum of the partons is ~ 0.6 GeV/c.  相似文献

In experiments on the β decay of polarized neutrons where only the electron and proton momentum distributions are observed and the γ radiation is not registered, the asymmetry factor B of the antineutrino angular distribution cannot be obtained rigorously — the value of B is only estimated on the average by taking into consideration the expectation (mean) value 〈B〉 and the rms deviation ΔB. The resulting unavoidable ambiguities in the determination of B amount to several percent, which is significant for the present-day experimental attempts to obtain B to very high precision ∼(0.1–1)%. The study of nuclear electron capture (EC) offers an exciting alternative for the determination of the neutrino mass. Whereas only tritium and 187Re can be used in the case of β-decay experiments involving the anti-neutrino, a potentially large number of EC-nuclides can be used in experiments involving the monochromatic neutrino. This alternative to β  -decay experiments requires an accurate measurement of QECQEC-values of appropriate candidates. In the present work we initiate a search for such a candidate and determined the QECQEC-value of the electron capture in 194Hg by direct mass measurements of 194Hg and 194Au. The new QECQEC-value of 29(4) keV determined by the ISOLTRAP Penning-trap mass spectrometer at ISOLDE/CERN forbids the K-capture for 194Hg. However, it allows a determination of the neutrino mass by a combination of a micro-calorimetric measurement of the de-excitation spectrum from L-capture in 194Hg and a comparable QECQEC-value remeasurement by high-precision Penning trap mass spectrometry.  相似文献

Usually it is supposed that Majorana neutrino produced in the superposition state χ L = ν L + (ν L ) c and then follows the neutrinoless double beta decay. But since the standard weak interactions are chiral invariant then neutrino at production has definite helicity (ν L and (ν L ) c have opposite spirality). Then these neutrinos are separately produced and their superposition state cannot appear. Thus we see that for unsuitable helicity the neutrinoless double β decay is not possible even if it is supposed that neutrino is a Majorana particle (i.e. there is not a lepton number which is conserved). Also transition of Majorana neutrino ν L into antineutrino (ν L ) c at their oscillations is forbidden since helicity in vacuum holds. Transition Majora neutrino ν L into (ν R ) c (i.e., ν L → (ν R ) c ) at oscillations is unobserved since it is supposed that mass of (ν R ) c is very big. If neutrino is a Dirac particle there can be transition of ν L neutrino into (sterile) antineutrino $ \bar v_R $ \bar v_R (i.e., ν L → $ \bar v_R $ \bar v_R ) at neutrino oscillations if there takes place double violation of lepton number. It is necessary also to remark that introducing of a Majorana neutrino implies violation of global and local gauge invariance in the standard weak interactions.  相似文献

The production of μe-pairs is studied in interactions of neutrinos with nuclei of heavy freon in the SKAT bubble chamber experiment. A rate of μ? e + to charged current interactions above the charm threshold of \(R^{\mu ^ - e^ + } = (4.6 \pm 1.2) \cdot 10^{ - 3} \) is found. The properties of the observed μ? e + events can be well described by assuming them to originate from the semileptonic decay of quasielastic produced charmed baryonsΛ c and inclusive charmedD-meson production. The rates for these reactions are found to be (6.7±3.5)×10?2 and (2.5±0.9)×10?2, respectively. A total charmed particle production rate of (9.2±3.6)×10?2 is calculated.  相似文献

Rapidity correlations in 800 GeV proton interactions with emulsion nuclei are investigated for different targets and multiplicity regions. To study the energy dependence, the results have been compared with proton interactions at 200 GeV and 400 GeV. A common feature of all the interactions is the existence of strong, short-range correlations. However, no dependence of cluster parameters on primary energy or target mass is found. Studying the 0-meson production in ¯pp interactions at 22.4 GeV/c and in 4-prong anníhilation channels of ¯pp interactions at 5.7 GeV/c, we have observed an essential 0-meson spin alignment. The values of the 00 element of the 0-meson spin density matrix (thez-axis is directed along the normal to the production plane) are equal to 0.08 ± 0.07 and 0.55 ± 0.03, respectively, i.e. the 0-meson spin lies preferably in the production plane. The absence of such an effect in pp interactions at 12 and 24 GeV/c and also the essentially larger 0 production cross section in ¯pp interactions at these energies make it possible to connect the observed 0-meson spin alignment with the annihilation processes. The character of the observed spin alignment is unexpected from the point of view of usual models, e.g. multiperipheral models. This effect could be described by the spontaneous polarization of quarks and antiquarks during the state preceding their recombination into mesons.Dedicated to Professor Ivan Úlehla on the occasion of his sixtieth birthday.The authors would like to express their gratitude to the CERN-Prague collaboration for permission to use their data on ¯pp interactions at 5.7 GeV/c. A method of improving perturbation theory in QCD is developed which can be applied to any polarization operator. The case of the polarization operator Π(q 2), corresponding to the process e + e → hadrons, is considered in detail. By the use of the analytical properties of Π(q 2) and a perturbation expansion of Π(q 2) for q 2<0, the function ImΠ(q 2) at q 2>0 is defined in such a way that the infrared pole is eliminated. The convergence of the perturbation series for R(q 2)=σ(e + e →hadrons)/(e + e μ + μ ) is improved. After substitution of R(q 2) into the dispersion relation an improved Adler function D(q 2) is obtained, having no infrared pole and a frozen α s (q 2). Good agreement with experiment is achieved. In the original 2004 paper which first derived tribimaximal mixing in the context of A(4), i.e., the non-Abelian finite symmetry group of the tetrahedron, as its simplest application, it was also pointed out how θ(13) ≠ 0 may be accommodated. On the strength of the new T2K result that 0.03(0.04) ≤ sin(2)2θ(13) ≤ 0.28(0.34) for δ(CP) = 0 and normal (inverted) neutrino mass hierarchy, we perform a more detailed analysis of how this original idea may be realized in the context of A(4).  相似文献

Carbon–silica nanocomposites obtained by rice husk carbonization in a fluidized-bed reactor using a deep oxidation copper–chromium catalyst were studied. Dispersion characteristics of the silica phase in these systems were determined by small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) using the full contrast technique. SiO2 was found in the initial rice husk as compact nanoparticles having a wide size distribution. This distribution consists of a narrow fraction with particle sizes from 1 to 7 nm and a wider fraction with particle sizes from 8 to 22 nm. Oxidative heat treatment of rice husk in a fluidized bed in the presence of the catalyst decreased the fraction of small SiO2 particles and increased the fraction of large ones. It was demonstrated that the particle size of silica in the carbon matrix can be determined selectively for deliberate design of porous carbon materials with desired properties.  相似文献

The average transverse momentum and the size of the particle emitting source (measured via Bose-Einstein correlations) have been studied as functions of the charged particle density in the central region inp-p interactions at \(\sqrt s \) =62, 44 and 31 GeV. Both the average transverse momentum and the source size increase with increasing density at all three energies. This effect, very weak at \(\sqrt s \) =31 GeV, becomes stronger with increasing energy.  相似文献

The average multiplicities of charged hadrons and of π+, π? and π0 mesons, produced in \(\bar v\) Ne and νNe charged current interactions in the forward and backward hemispheres of theW ±-nucleon center of mass system, are studied with data from BEBC. The dependence of the multiplicities on the hadronic mass (W) and on the laboratory rapidity (y Lab) and the energy fraction (z) of the pion is also investigated. Special care is taken to determine the π0 multiplicity accurately. The ratio of average π multiplicities \(\frac{{2\left\langle {n_{\pi ^O } } \right\rangle }}{{[\left\langle {n_{\pi ^ + } } \right\rangle + \left\langle {n_{\pi ^ - } } \right\rangle ]}}\) is consistent with 1. In the backward hemisphere \(\left\langle {n_{\pi ^O } } \right\rangle \) is positively correlated with the charged multiplicity. This correlation, as well as differences in multiplicities between \(\mathop v\limits^{( - )} \) and \(\mathop v\limits^{( - )} \) , \(\mathop v\limits^{( - )} \) scattering, is attributed to reinteractions inside the neon nucleus of the hadrons produced in the initial \(\mathop v\limits^{( - )} \) interaction.  相似文献
