Highly ordered mesoporous SBA-15 silica with large pore diameter of 18 nm (nominal BJH pore diameter ~22 nm) and short pore length (~500 nm) was synthesized using a micelle expander 1,3,5-triisopropylbenzene in the absence of ammonium fluoride by employing short initial stirring time at 17 °C followed by static aging at low temperature. Scanning and transmission electron microscopies revealed that the material comprised of platelet particles in which large mesopores were nearly flawlessly arranged within uniform domains up to 3 μm in size. The platelet SBA-15 had the (100) interplanar spacing of 17 nm, high surface area (~470 m(2) g(-1)) and large pore volume (~1.6 cm(3) g(-1)). The hydrothermal treatment at 130 °C for 2 days was employed to eliminate constrictions from the pore channels. The control experiment showed that a sample prepared with prolonged stirring had very similar mesoporous properties, but the particle size was smaller and the domains were irregular, proving that the static conditions facilitate the formation of SBA-15 with platelet particle morphology. The absence of ammonium fluoride was also critical in attaining the platelet particle shape.  相似文献

Mesoporous silica spheres from colloids   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A novel method has been developed to synthesize mesoporous silica spheres using commercial silica colloids (SNOWTEX) as precursors and electrolytes (ammonium nitrate and sodium chloride) as destabilizers. Crosslinked polyacrylamide hydrogel was used as a temporary barrier to obtain dispersible spherical mesoporous silica particles. The influences of synthesis conditions including solution composition and calcination temperature on the formation of the mesoporous silica particles were systematically investigated. The structure and morphology of the mesoporous silica particles were characterized via scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and N2 sorption technique. Mesoporous silica particles with particle diameters ranging from 0.5 to 1.6 microm were produced whilst the BET surface area was in the range of 31-123 m2 g-1. Their pore size could be adjusted from 14.1 to 28.8 nm by increasing the starting particle diameter from 20-30 nm up to 70-100 nm. A simple and cost effective method is reported that should open up new opportunities for the synthesis of scalable host materials with controllable structures.

Mesoporous silica with cubic symmetry has attracted interest from researchers for some time. Here, we present the room temperature synthesis of mesoporous silica nanoparticles possessing cubic Pm3?n symmetry with very high molar ratios (>50%) of 3-aminopropyl triethoxysilane. The synthesis is robust allowing, for example, co-condensation of organic dyes without loss of structure. By means of pore expander molecules, the pore size can be enlarged from 2.7 to 5 nm, while particle size decreases. Adding pore expander and co-condensing fluorescent dyes in the same synthesis reduces average particle size further down to 100 nm. After PEGylation, such fluorescent aminated mesoporous silica nanoparticles are spontaneously taken up by cells as demonstrated by fluorescence microscopy.  相似文献

A family of mesoporous silica microspheres with fibrous morphology and different particle sizes ranging from about 400 to 900 nm has been successfully synthesized through a facile self-assembly process. The structural, morphological, and textural properties of the samples were well characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), N(2) adsorption/desorption, and thermal gravimetry (TG). The results reveal that this silica-based mesoporous material exhibits excellent physical properties, including a fibrous spherical morphology, good thermal stability, large pore volume, high specific surface area and narrow size distribution. Additionally, the size and textural properties can be tuned by altering the silica precursor/template molar ratio. The formation and the self-assembly evolution process have also been proposed. The obtained materials were further used as a drug delivery carrier to investigate the in vitro drug release properties using doxorubicin (DOX) as a representative model drug. It was found that this kind of silica exhibits good biocompatibility and obvious sustained drug release properties, suggesting its potential application in biological fields.  相似文献

We explored melt infiltration of mesoporous silica supports to prepare supported metal catalysts with high loadings and controllable particle sizes. Melting of Co(NO(3))(2)·6H(2)O in the presence of silica supports was studied in situ with differential scanning calorimetry. The melting point depression of the intraporous phase was used to quantify the degree of pore loading after infiltration. Maximum pore-fillings corresponded to 70-80% of filled pore volume, if the intraporous phase was considered to be crystalline Co(NO(3))(2)·6H(2)O. However, diffraction was absent in XRD both from the ordered mesopores at low scattering angles and from crystalline cobalt nitrate phases at high angles. Hence, an amorphous, lower density, intraporous Co(NO(3))(2)·6H(2)O phase was proposed to fill the pores completely. Equilibration at 60 °C in a closed vessel was essential for successful melt infiltration. In an open crucible, dehydration of the precursor prior to infiltration inhibited homogeneous filling of support particles. The dispersion and distribution of Co(3)O(4) after calcination could be controlled using the same toolbox as for preparation via solution impregnation: confinement and the calcination gas atmosphere. Using ordered mesoporous silica supports as well as an industrial silica gel support, catalysts with Co metal loadings in the range of 10-22 wt % were prepared. The Co(3)O(4) crystallite sizes ranged from 4 to 10 nm and scaled with the support pore diameters. By calcination in N(2), pluglike nanoparticles were obtained that formed aggregates over several pore widths, while calcination in 1% NO/N(2) led to the formation of smaller individual nanoparticles. After reduction, the Co/SiO(2) catalysts showed high activity for the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, illustrating the applicability of melt infiltration for supported catalyst preparation.  相似文献

Highly dispersed gold particles (<2 nm) were synthesized within the pores of mesoporous silica with pore sizes ranging from 2.2 to 6.5 nm and different pore structures (2D-hexagonal, 3D-hexagonal, and cubic). The catalysts were reduced in flowing H2 at 200 degrees C and then used for CO oxidation at temperatures ranging from 25 to 400 degrees C. The objective of this study was to investigate the role of pore size and structure in controlling the thermal sintering of Au nanoparticles. Our study shows that sintering of Au particles is dependent on pore size, pore wall thickness (strength of pores), and pore connectivity. A combination of high-resolution TEM/STEM and SEM was used to measure the particle size distribution and to determine whether the Au particles were located within the pores or had migrated to the external silica surface.  相似文献

Hierarchically porous materials, such as wrinkled mesoporous silica (WMS), have gained interest in the last couple of decades, because of their wide range of applications in fields such as nanomedicine, energy, and catalysis. The mechanism of formation of these nanostructures is not fully understood, despite various groups reporting very comprehensive studies. Furthermore, achieving particle diameters of 100 nm or less has proven difficult. In this study, the effects on particle size, pore size, and particle morphology of several co-solvents were evaluated. Additionally, varying concentrations of acid during synthesis affected the particle sizes, yielding particles smaller than 100 nm. The morphology and physical properties of the nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and dynamic light scattering (DLS). Homogeneous and spherical WMS, with the desired radial wrinkle morphology and particle sizes smaller than 100 nm, were obtained. The effect of the nature of the co-solvents and the concentration of acid are explained within the frame of previously reported mechanisms of formation, to further elucidate this intricate process.  相似文献

Highly ordered mesoporous SiC materials were prepared by infiltrating viscous liquid preceramic polymer, allylhydridopolycarbosilane, into two types of surface modified nanoporous silica templates: mesoporous silica SBA-15 and mesocellular siliceous foam. The silica templates were subsequently etched off after pyrolysis at 1000 degrees C under nitrogen atmosphere with the resultant formation of ordered mesoporous structures. The mesoporous SiC materials, synthesized from both types of templates possessed high Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface areas in the range of 250-260 m(2)/g with pore sizes of 3.4-3.6 nm. The ordered structures of mesoporous SiC were exact inverse replicas of their respective silica templates, as characterized by small angle X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM) images, and the adsorption-desorption isotherm of nitrogen.  相似文献

The pore variations of ordered cage-type mesoporous silica FDU-12s have been analyzed in detail by PXRD, SAXS, nitrogen sorption, and electron crystallography. FDU-12s with a cubic symmetry (space group, Fmm) were templated by amphiphilic triblock copolymer F127 with the addition of 1,3,5-trimethylbenzene and KCl under an acidic condition. Three typical samples with different unit cell sizes, pore cage diameters, and entrance sizes were obtained from different synthesis and hydrothermal treatment temperatures, as indicated by the differences in the PXRD and SAXS patterns. The pore structure changes in the three materials were observed by nitrogen adsorption/desorption and 3-D reconstruction of HRTEM images taken from different crystal orientations. The approximate pore structures of FDU-12s can be regarded as a face-centered cubic (fcc) close-packing of spherical cages, each connected to 12 nearest neighboring cages. However, the ideal spherical model is only valid for the FDU-12s prepared at a low temperature (L-FDU-12-100). The cage shape of the FDU-12s synthesized at a high temperature deviates from perfect spheres and is accompanied by an entrance enlargement. The temperature-dependent behavior of the PEO block is discussed with regard to its influence on the micelles and hence the cage configuration. The better understanding of the formation mechanism via the combined characterization techniques and modeling may lead to a more rational approach for tuning the pore cages and entrances of the mesoporous FDU-12 materials.  相似文献

We demonstrated the formation of monodispersed spherical aluminum hydrous oxide precursors with tunable sizes by controlling the variables of a forced hydrolysis method. The particle sizes of aluminum hydrous oxide precursors were strongly dependent on the molar ratio of the Al(3+) reactants (sulfates and nitrates). In addition, the systematic phase and morphological evolutions from aluminum hydrous oxide to γ-alumina (Al(2)O(3)) and finally to α-Al(2)O(3) through thermal dehydrogenation were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). After annealing the amorphous aluminum hydrous oxide in air at 900 °C and 1100 °C for 1 h, we observed complete conversion to phase-pure γ- and α-Al(2)O(3), respectively, while maintaining monodispersity (125 nm, 195 nm, 320 nm, and 430 nm diameters were observed). Furthermore, both γ- and α-Al(2)O(3) were found to be mesoporous in structure, providing enhanced specific surface areas of 102 and 76 m(2) g(-1), respectively, based on the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) measurement.  相似文献

Precise control of the pore sizes for porous carbon materials is of importance to study the confinement effect of metal particles because the pore size in nanosize range will decide the physical and chemical properties of the metal nanoparticles. In this paper,we report a new approach for the synthesis of iron doped ordered mesoporous carbon materials with adjustable pore size using Fe-SBA-15 as hard template and boric acid as the pore expanding reagent. The pore size can be precisely adjusted by a step of 0.4 nm in the range of 3-6 nm.The carbonization temperature can be lowered to 773 K due to the catalytic role of the doped iron. The present approach is suitable for facile synthesis of metal imbedded porous carbon materials with tunable pore sizes.  相似文献

The synthesis and operation of a light-operated nanovalve that controls the pore openings of mesoporous silica nanoparticles containing gold nanoparticle cores is described. The nanoparticles, consisting of 20 nm gold cores inside ~150 nm mesoporous silica spheres, were synthesized using a unique one-pot method. The nanovalves consist of cucurbit[6]uril rings encircling stalks that are attached to the ~2 nm pore openings. Plasmonic heating of the gold core raises the local temperature and decreases the ring-stalk binding constant, thereby unblocking the pore and releasing the cargo molecules that were preloaded inside. Bulk heating of the suspended particles to 60 °C is required to release the cargo, but no bulk temperature change was observed in the plasmonic heating release experiment. High-intensity irradiation caused thermal damage to the silica particles, but low-intensity illumination caused a local temperature increase sufficient to operate the valves without damaging the nanoparticle containers. These light-stimulated, thermally activated, mechanized nanoparticles represent a new system with potential utility for on-command drug release.  相似文献

Magnetic mesoporous silica nanoparticles (M-MSNs) are emerging as one of the most appealing candidates for theranostic carriers. Herein, a simple synthesis method of M-MSNs with a single Fe(3)O(4) nanocrystal core and a mesoporous shell with radially aligned pores was elaborated using tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) as silica source, cationic surfactant CTAB as template, and 1,3,5-triisopropylbenzene (TMB)/decane as pore swelling agents. Due to the special localization of TMB during the synthesis process, the pore size was increased with added TMB amount within a limited range, while further employment of TMB lead to severe particle coalescence and not well-developed pore structure. On the other hand, when a proper amount of decane was jointly incorporated with limited amounts of TMB, effective pore expansion of M-MSNs similar to that of analogous mesoporous silica nanoparticles was realized. The resultant M-MSN materials possessed smaller particle size (about 40-70 nm in diameter), tunable pore sizes (3.8-6.1 nm), high surface areas (700-1100 m(2)/g), and large pore volumes (0.44-1.54 cm(3)/g). We also demonstrate their high potential in conventional DNA loading. Maximum loading capacity of salmon sperm DNA (375 mg/g) was obtained by the use of the M-MSN sample with the largest pore size of 6.1 nm.  相似文献

A mesoporous Co(3)O(4) core/mesoporous silica shell composite with a variable shell thickness of 10-35 nm was fabricated by depositing silica on Co(3)O(4) superlatticed particles. The Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area of the composite with a shell thickness of ca. 2.0 nm was 238.6 m(2)/g, which varied with the shell thickness, and the most frequent pore size of the shell was ca. 2.0 nm. After the shell was eroded with hydrofluoric acid, mesoporous Co(3)O(4) particles with a pore size of ca. 8.7 nm could be obtained, whose BET surface area was 86.4 m(2)/g. It is proposed that in the formation of the composite the electropositive cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) micelles were first adsorbed on the electronegative Co(3)O(4) particle surface, which directed the formation of the mesoporous silica on the Co(3)O(4) particle surface. Electrochemical measurements showed that the core/shell composites exhibited a higher discharge capacity compared with that of the bare Co(3)O(4) particles.  相似文献

Based on a self-assembly strategy, spherical mesoporous cobalt and nickel ferrite nanocrystal clusters with a large surface area and narrow size distribution were successfully synthesized for the first time via a template-free solvothermal process in ethylene glycol and subsequent heat treatment. In this work, the mesopores in the ferrite clusters were derived mainly from interior voids between aggregated primary nanoparticles (with crystallite size of less than 7 nm) and disordered particle packing domains. The concentration of sodium acetate is shown herein to play a crucial role in the formation of mesoporous ferrite spherical clusters. These ferrite clusters were characterized in detail using wide-angle X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric-differential thermal analysis, (57)Fe M?ssbauer spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, field-emission scanning electron microscopy, standard and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, and other techniques. The results confirmed the formation of both pure-phase ferrite clusters with highly crystalline spinel structure, uniform size (about 160 nm) and spherical morphology, and worm-like mesopore structures. The BET specific surface areas and mean pore sizes of the mesoporous Co and Ni-ferrite clusters were as high as 160 m(2) g(-1) and 182 m(2) g(-1), and 7.91 nm and 6.87 nm, respectively. A model for the formation of the spherical clusters in our system is proposed on the basis of the results. The magnetic properties of both samples were investigated at 300 K, and it was found that these materials are superparamagnetic.  相似文献

Three kinds of highly ordered SBA-15 mesoporous materials with different pore sizes and morphologies denoted as LPS-SBA-15 (stick-like with pore size 7.28 nm), CPS-SBA-15 (stick-like with pore size 5.96 nm) and T-SBA-15 (tablet-like with pore size 4.64 nm) have been prepared, characterized and employed as carrier materials. The release behaviors of the ibuprofen in a simulated body fluid from these mesoporous silica materials were studied. The influences of pore size and exterior morphologies of mesoporous silica on the release behaviors of ibuprofen have been investigated. It has been found that the release becomes fast with increasing of pore size and slow with extending of transport pathway, and that the release rate of ibuprofen from the three kinds of SBA-15 is LPS-SBA-15 > T-SBA-15 > CPS-SBA-15. The results show that the inner structure as well as the exterior morphologies of SBA-15 mesoporous silica can seriously affect the release behaviors of ibuprofen.  相似文献
