Flavonoids of Thermopsis alterniflora

Summary From the lipophilic fraction of the substances from the herbage ofThermopsis alterniflora we have isolated a molecular compound of two flavonoids, one of which has been identified as chrysoeriol, while the second, with the composition C₁₆H₁₂O₅, mp 274–275°C, is a new isoflavone which we have called teralin. On the basis of spectral characteristics and the products of alkaline fusion, we have proposed for it the structure of 4,7-dihydroxy-2-methoxyisoflavone.Institute of the Chemistry of Plant Substances, Academy of Sciences of the Uzbek SSR. Summary 1. The epigeal part ofThermopsis alterniflora at the beginning of flowering contains 3.35% of combined alkaloids. The separation of the combined bases yielded cytisine, N-methylcytisine, pachycarpine, thermopsine, and the new alkaloid alteramine.2. Alkaloid and Isoflavonoid Constituents of Thermopsis Licentiana

From the whole plant of Thermopsis Licentiana(Leguminoseae) , one new compound, 13-β-hydroxylthermopsine, along with eight known compounds, N-methylcytisine, ther-mopsine, daidzein , trifolirhizin , daidzin , genistin, daidzein-4',7-diglucoside and genistein-4', 7-diglucoside were isolated and identified on the basis of chemical and spectral data.     

The production of cytisine from the seeds of Thermopsis lanceolata

Summary A method for obtaining cytisine from the seeds ofThermopsis lanceolata by extraction with aqueous solutions of ethanol and with the use of cation-exchangers has been developed.
