In this work we review the derivation of Dirac and Weinberg equations based on a principle of indistinguishability for the (j,0) and (0,j) irreducible representations (irreps) of the homogeneous Lorentz group (HLG). We generalize this principle and explore its consequences for other irreps containing j1. We rederive Ahluwalia–Kirchbach equation using this principle and conclude that it yields equations of motion for any representation containing spin j and lower spins. We also use the obtained generators of the HLG for a given representation to explore the possibility of the existence of first order equations for that representation. We show that, except for j= , there exists no Dirac-like equation for the (j,0)(0,j) representation nor for the ( , ) representation. We rederive Kemmer–Duffin–Petieau (KDP) equation for the (1,0)( , )(0,1) representation by this method and show that the (1, )( ,1) representation satisfies a Dirac-like equation which describes a multiplet of with masses m and m/2, respectively.  相似文献

We introduce a model with a set of experiments of which the probabilities of the outcomes coincide with the quantum probabilities for the spin measurements of a quantum spin- particle. Product tests are defined which allow simultaneous measurements of incompatible observables, which leads to a discussion of the validity of the meet of two propositions as the algebraic model for conjunction in quantum logic. Although the entity possesses the same structure for the logic of its experimental propositions as a genuine spin- quantum entity, the probability measure corresponding with the meet of propositions using the Hilbert space representation and quantum rules does not render the probability of the conjunction of the two propositions. Accordingly, some fundamental concepts of quantum logic, Piron-products, classical systems and the general problem of hidden variable theories for quantum theory are discussed.  相似文献

An analytic gravitational fieldZ (Z y ) is shown to include electromagnetic phenomena. In an almost flat and almost static complex geometryds 2 =zdzdz of four complex variables z=t, x, y, x the field equationsR Rz = –(U U Z ) imply the conventional equations of motion and the conventional electromagnetic field equations to first order if =(Z v) and =(z ) are expressed in terms of the conventional mass density function , the conventional charge density function , and a pressurep as follows: v=const=p/c 2–10–29 gm/cm3.  相似文献

Recently, a class of -invariant scalar quantum field theories described by the non-Hermitian Lagrangian = () 2 +g 2 (i) was studied. It was found that there are two regions of . For <0 the -invariance of the Lagrangian is spontaneously broken, and as a consequence, all but the lowest-lying energy levels are complex. For 0 the -invariance of the Lagrangian is unbroken, and the entire energy spectrum is real and positive. The subtle transition at =0 is not well understood. In this paper we initiate an investigation of this transition by carrying out a detailed numerical study of the effective potential V eff (c) in zero-dimensional spacetime. Although this numerical work reveals some differences between the <0 and the >0 regimes, we cannot yet see convincing evidence of the transition at =0 in the structure of the effective potential for -symmetric quantum field theories.  相似文献

The 2-by-2 Pauli matrix algebra is used to write the 1-by-4 Dirac field in anequivalent 2-by-2 matrix . The current 4-vectors and *µ are then compared and the latter is shown to not be easily interpretable as a probability density, and also tocontain .  相似文献

An axiomatic framework for describing general space-time models is presented. Space-time models to which irreducible propositional systems belong as causal logics are quantum (q) theoretically interpretable and their event spaces are Hilbert spaces. Such aq space-time is proposed via a canonical quantization. As a basic assumption, the time t and the radial coordinate r of aq particle satisfy the canonical commutation relation [t,r]=±i . The two cases will be considered simultaneously. In that case the event space is the Hilbert space L2(3). Unitary symmetries consist of Poincaré-like symmetries (translations, rotations, and inversion) and of gauge-like symmetries. Space inversion implies time inversion. Thisq space-time reveals a confinement phenomenon: Theq particle is confined in an size region of Minkowski space at any time. One particle mechanics overq space-time provides mass eigenvalue equations for elementary particles. Prugoveki's stochasticq mechanics andq space-time offer a natural way for introducing and interpreting consistently such aq space-time andq particles existing in it. The mass eigenstates ofq particles generate Prugoveki's extended elementary particles. When 0, these particles shrink to point particles and is recovered as the classical (c) limit ofq space-time. Conceptual considerations favor the case [t,r]=+i , and applications in hadron physics give the fit 2/5 fermi/GeV.This paper is a revised version of the author's work, Quantization of Space-time and the Corresponding Quantum Mechanics (Part I), report KFKI-1981-48.  相似文献

It is shown that the functional , defined onC functions on the two-dimensional sphere, satisfies the inequalityS[]0 if is subject to the constraint . The minimumS[]=0 is attained at the solutions of the Euler-Lagrange equations. The proof is based on a sharper version of Moser-Trudinger's inequality (due to Aubin) which holds under the additional constraint ; this condition can always be satisfied by exploiting the invariance ofS[] under the conformal transformations ofS 2. The result is relevant for a recently proposed formulation of a theory of random surfaces. On leave from: Istituto di Fisica dell'Università di Parma, Sezione di Fisica Teorica, Parma, Italy  相似文献

We study Schrödinger operators of the form on d , whereA 2 is a strictly positive symmetricd×d matrix andV(x) is a continuous real function which is the Fourier transform of a bounded measure. If n are the eigenvalues ofH we show that the theta function is explicitly expressible in terms of infinite dimensional oscillatory integrals (Feynman path integrals) over the Hilbert space of closed trajectories. We use these explicit expressions to give the asymptotic behaviour of (t) for smallh in terms of classical periodic orbits, thus obtaining a trace formula for the Schrödinger operators. This then yields an asymptotic expansion of the spectrum ofH in terms of the periodic orbits of the corresponding classical mechanical system. These results extend to the physical case the recent work on Poisson and trace formulae for compact manifolds.Partially supported by the USP-Mathematisierung, University of Bielefeld (Forschungsprojekt Unendlich dimensionale Analysis)  相似文献

The geometro-stochastic quantization of a gauge theory based on the (4,1)-de Sitter group is presented. The theory contains an intrinsic elementary length parameter R of geometric origin taken to be of a size typical for hadron physics. Use is made of a soldered Hilbert bundle over curved spacetime carrying a phase space representation of SO(4, 1) with the Lorentz subgroup related to a vierbein formulation of gravitation. The typical fiber of is a resolution kernel Hilbert space constructed in terms of generalized coherent states related to the principal series of unitary irreducible representations of SO(4, 1), namely de Sitter horospherical waves for spinless particles characterized by the parameter . The framework is, finally, extended to a quantum field-theoretical formalism by using bundles with Fock space fibers constructed from .Supported in part by NSERC Research Grant No. A5206.  相似文献

The general theory of relativity gives an absolutely covariant formulation of Helmholtz's laws of vorticity which is valid in arbitrary reference systems. For small relative velocities ui, (with ui,u2) these generally covariant laws deliver Helmholtz's first law for a vorticity i in a rigidly rotating references system with the angular velocity of the rotation.  相似文献

The -decays of two isomeric states in and excited in the reactions12C(31P, pn and 2p) were observed using the recoil-into-vacuum plunger technique. At a recoil velocity ofv/c=5.1%, the perturbations of the -ray angular distributions were measured time differentially and interpreted in terms of the cascade model by Bosch and Spehl in the limit of fast electron relaxation. It is found that the ions reach stable electronic configurations with an average angular momentum ofJ1.7.Supported by the US Energy Research and Development Administration and Deutsches Bundesministerium für Forschung und Technologie.  相似文献

The paper describes the effect of the finite temperature T of an azimuthal electron beam on plasma stability. Only instabilities for which the longitudinal macroscopic velocity of the beam is of no importance are discussed. It is shown that at the limit of applicability the weak and strong inhomogeneity approximations give the same results.  相似文献

If (V) is a net of local von Neumann algebras satisfying standard axioms of algebraic relativistic quantum field theory and V 1 and V 2 are spacelike separated spacetime regions, then the system ( (V 1 ), (V 2 ), ) is said to satisfy the Weak Reichenbach's Common Cause Principle iff for every pair of projections A (V 1 ), B (V 2 ) correlated in the normal state there exists a projection C belonging to a von Neumann algebra associated with a spacetime region V contained in the union of the backward light cones of V 1 and V 2 and disjoint from both V 1 and V 2 , a projection having the properties of a Reichenbachian common cause of the correlation between A and B. It is shown that if the net has the local primitive causality property then every local system ( (V 1 ), (V 2 ), ) with a locally normal and locally faithful state and suitable bounded V 1 and V 2 satisfies the Weak Reichenbach's Common Cause Principle.  相似文献

A Note on Static Solutions of a Lorentz Invariant Equation in Dimension 3   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Cut-and-project sets with convex acceptance windows, based on irrationalities = (1+5), =1+2, =2+3 are models for experimentally observed quasicrystals – materials with diffraction patterns consisting of sharp Bragg peaks in crystallographically disallowed patterns. We show that for each of these three irrationalities there exists a unique binary operation of the type x s y:=sx+(1–s)y, such that one-dimensional cut-and-project sets are precisely Delone sets closed under this operation.  相似文献

Zeta Function on a Generalised Cone   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
The analytic properties of the -function for a Laplace operator on a generalised cone are studied in some detail using Cheeger's approach and explicit expressions are given. In the compact case, the -function of the Laplace operator turns out to be singular at the origin. As a result, strictly speaking, the -function regularisation does not regularise and a further subtraction is required for the related one-loop effective potential.  相似文献

Quantum uncertainties prevent simultaneous measurement of the expansion factor S(t) and its time derivative . Consequently the Hubble size has an inherent uncertainty in the quantum state that describes the semiclassical evolution of the universe. We show that the quantum uncertainty in the Hubble size of the universe is amplified to unacceptably large values in any inflationary process. This essay received an honorable mention from the Gravity Research Foundation, 1986-Ed.  相似文献
