A kinetic spectrophotometric method that requires no prior measurement of rate constants is developed for the simultaneous determination of iron(II) and iron(III). The method is based on the aerial oxidation of iron(II) in the presence of tiron and acetate ions. The iron(III) formed is subsequently complexed with tiron and the absorbance/time relation is evaluated. The concentrations of iron(III) and iron(II) are obtained from the absorbance values at the start and at equilibrium, respectively, calculated by non-linear least-squares fitting. A linear calibration graph is obtained up to 12 μg ml?1 iron(II)/iron(III). The method is applied to iron-rich ground water.  相似文献

The kinetics of hydrogen peroxide oxidation of Fe(II) to Fe(III) complexed with tetraazamacrocyclic ligand was studied, and a decrease in the reaction rate was observed in the presence of nitrogeneous bases, capable of forming hexacoordinated complexes with tetraazamacrocyclic compound of iron(II). The rate of reaction is proprotional to the concentration of the iron complex and hydrogen peroxide and inversely proportional to the concentration of the nitrogeneous base. A mechanism for the course of the reaction has been proposed, and the rate constants of the oxidation of the pentacoordinated iron(II) complexes have been calculated. It was shown that the addition of the fifth donor particle (in particular imidazole) activates the iron(II) atom with respect to the oxidation reaction. It was found that a tetraazamacrocyclic complex of iron(II) is capable of displaying a peroxidase type activity.Translated from Teoreticheskaya Eksperimental'naya Khimiya, Vol. 22, No. 3, pp. 309–316, May–June, 1986.  相似文献

<正>The kinetics of aniline degradation by persulfate processes with iron(Ⅱ) activation at ambient temperature was investigated in this study. With iron(Ⅱ) as initiator, the oxidation reactions were found to follow a biphasic rate phenomenon:a rapid transformation followed by a slow but sustained oxidation process. In the first 30 s,the reaction mainly relies on the persulfate-Fe~(2+) reaction in which aniline is oxidized rapidly. After 30 s,the aniline was still oxidized but the rate of reaction tended to be slower and the rates were clearly linear-proportional.After the initial fast oxidation, the reactions appeared to follow a pseudo-first-order model.  相似文献

The analytical features of the reaction between N-phenylanthranilic acid (PAA) and potassium periodate in acidic medium are explored with the aim of improving the catalytic kinetic determination of iron in water samples. In the presence of Fe(II, III), PAA is oxidized by potassium periodate in a formic acid medium to form a violet-colored compound. The reaction is followed spectrophotometrically by measuring the increase in the absorbance of the oxidation product at 525 nm. The variables that affected the reaction rate were investigated and the reaction conditions were established. Calibration graphs are linear in the range of concentrations 2 - 500 ng mL(-1). As low as 10(-8) mol L(-1) Fe(II, III) can be easily determined by the fixed time method. The established catalytic method was successfully applied to the determination of iron in tap water and in pharmaceutical samples.  相似文献

A flow injection-catalytic spectrophotometric method using a serial flow cell was proposed for the successive determination of trace amounts of copper and iron. This method is based on the oxidation coupling of p-anisidine with N,N-dimethylaniline in the presence of hydrogen peroxide to form a dye, which has an absorption maximum at 740 nm. In this indicator reaction, ligands such as 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) and diphosphate were achieved to improve the sensitivity and selectivity. Under the optimal experimental conditions, the determinable ranges were 0.05-5 ppb for copper and 0.5 - 100 ppb for iron, respectively. The RSDs (n = 10) were 0.78% for 0.5 ppb copper(II) and 0.5% for 200 ppb iron(III). The sample throughput was 30 h(-1). The present flow-injection method was applied to the determination of copper and iron in standard river water, tap water, and other natural water samples, and also to the analysis of labile and inert complexes in synthesized samples containing humic acid with copper(II) or iron(III).  相似文献

A flow injection-photometric method has been developed for the determination of iron(II+III). The method is based on the catalytic effect of iron(III) on the hydrogen peroxide oxidation of 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine to form a blue compound (lambda(max)=650 nm). In this catalyzed reaction, 1,10-phenanthroline acted as an effective activator. Iron(II) is also determined, being oxidized by hydrogen peroxide. Calibration graphs for iron(II) and iron(III) obtained under the optimized conditions were identical with each other and linear in the range 0.2-200 ng ml(-1) with a detection limit of 0.05 ng ml(-1) iron. The reproducibility was satisfactory with a relative S.D. of 1.0% for ten determinations of 5 ng ml(-1) iron(III). The proposed method was successfully applied to the determination of iron in river and lake water samples and can be determined free iron species.  相似文献

A flow injection procedure for the sequential spectrophotometric determination of iron(II) and iron(III) in pharmaceutical products is described. The method is based on the catalytic effect of iron(II) on the oxidation of iodide by bromate at pH = 4.0. The reaction was monitored spectrophotometrically by measuring the absorbance of produced triiodide ion at 352 nm. The activating effect for the catalysis of iron(II) was extremely exhibited in the presence of oxalate ions, while oxalate acted as a masking agent for iron(III). The iron(III) in a sample solution could be determined by passing through a Cd-Hg reductor column introduced in the FIA system to reduce iron(III) to iron(II), which allows total iron determination. Under the optimum conditions, iron(II) and iron(III) could be determined over the range of 0.05 - 5.0 and 0.10 - 5.0 microg ml(-1), respectively with a sampling rate of 17 +/- 5 h(-1). The experimental limits of detection were 0.03 and 0.04 microg ml(-1) for iron(II) and iron(III), respectively. The proposed method was successfully applied to the speciation of iron in pharmaceutical products.  相似文献

Measurement of iron and manganese is very important in evaluating the quality of natural waters. We have constructed an automated Fe(II), total dissolved iron(TDI), Mn(II), and total dissolved manganese(TDM) analysis system for the quality control of underground drinking water by reverse flow injection analysis and chemiluminescence detection(rFIA-CL). The method is based on the measurement of the metal-catalyzed light emission from luminol oxidation by potassium periodate. The typical signal is a narrow peak, in which the height is proportional to light emitted and hence to the concentration of metal ions. The detection limits were 3 x 10(-6)mug ml(-1) for Fe(II) and the linear range extents up to 1.0 x 10(-4) and 5 x 10(-6)mug ml(-1) for Mn(II) cover a linear range to 1.0 x 10(-4)mug ml(-1). This method was used for automated in-situ monitoring of total dissolved iron and total dissolved manganese in underground water during water treatment.  相似文献

A flow injection spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of dissolved and total amounts of iron in tap and natural water samples. The method for the determination of iron employs a sample acidification step in order to decompose iron hydroxide and iron-complexes into free iron, Fe(III) and Fe(II). The amounts of free iron were detected using a catalytic action of Fe(III) and Fe(II) on the oxidation of N,N-dimethyl-p-phenylenediamine in the presence of hydrogen peroxide. Increase in absorbance of oxidized product was detected spectrophotometrically at 514 nm. The proposed method allows 0.02 and 0.06 μg l−1 of LOD and LOQ, respectively, with relative standard deviation (RSD) below 2%. The accuracy and the precision of the method were evaluated by the analysis of the standard reference material, river water. The developed method was successfully applied to real water samples.  相似文献

Summary Oxidation of the diaqua(nitrilotriacetato)cobaltate(II) complex, [CoIInta(H2O)2]-, by NBS has been studied in aqueous medium. The kinetics of the reaction in the presence of an iron(II) catalyst obey the rate law: Catalysis by iron(II) is believed to be due to the oxidation of iron(II) to iron(III), which acts as the oxidizing agent. The thermodynamic activation parameters were calculated and we propose that electron transfer proceeds through an inner-sphere mechanism. This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

The analytical properties of the cathodic peak of tin(II) reduction and the anodic peak of iron(II) oxidation on a graphite electrode were studied with the electrode surface mechanically renewed directly in a solution before applying a potential in each measurement. The influence of the organic components of the phenolsulfonic tin-plating electrolyte on the cathodic current of tin(II) reduction and anodic current of iron(II) oxidation was studied. A dc voltammetric method was proposed for determining tin(II) directly in the phenolsulfonic tin-plating electrolyte, and iron(II) after the electrolyte is diluted tenfold with a 0.5M H2SO4 supporting solution.  相似文献

Tris(2,2'-bipyridine) complex of iron(II) was found to cause an increase in the chemiluminescence (CL) emission of luminol dispersed in the reversed micellar medium of cetyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTAC) in 1:1 (v/v) dichloromethane-cyclohexane/water, when the iron(II) complex in dichloromethane was mixed directly with the reversed micellar solution containing luminol. Visible absorption measurements showed that, when dispersed in the CTAC reversed micellar medium, the iron(II) complex dissociates easily. In the reverse micelle, subsequently the free iron(II) ion produced may catalyze the CL oxidation of luminol even in the absence of hydrogen peroxide. The CL emission produced under the optimized experimental conditions was detectable at a minimum iron(II) concentration of 1.0 x 10(-9) M using a flow injection system.  相似文献

The kinetics of oxidation of bis(2,4,6-tripyridyl 1,3,5-s-triazine)iron(II) by vanadium(V), periodate and iodate has been studied in acetate buffers by stopped-flow and spectrophotometric methods. The oxidation reaction of bis(2,4,6-tripyridyl 1,3,5-s-triazine)iron(II) by vanadium(V), periodate and iodate follows first order kinetics for the substrate and oxidant. Hydrogen ion has no significant effect on the rate. A generalized mechanism was proposed for these reactions and these reactions follow the rate law: Rate = k [oxidant] [Fe(tptz)2 2+].  相似文献

The catalytic oxidation of iron(II) with oxygen occurs along with an autocatalytic reaction between palladium(II) tetraaqua complex and iron(II) aqua complex in an oxygen atmosphere. The reaction is catalyzed by a compound of palladium in an intermediate oxidation state, presumably by a small palladium cluster formed in the course of the reduction of palladium(II) tetraaqua complex with iron(II) aqua complex.  相似文献

We have used dioxygen, not artificial oxidants such as peracids, iodosylarenes, and hydroperoxides, in the generation of a mononuclear nonheme oxoiron(IV) complex, [Fe(IV)(TMC)(O)]2+ (TMC = 1,4,8,11-tetramethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane), from its corresponding Fe(II) complex, [Fe(TMC)(CF3SO3)2]. The formation of oxoiron(IV) species by activating dioxygen was markedly dependent on iron(II) complexes and solvents, and this observation was interpreted with the electronic effect of iron(II) complexes on dioxygen activation to form oxoiron(IV) species. A catalytic aerobic oxidation of organic substrates was demonstrated in the presence of the [Fe(TMC)]2+ complex. By carrying out 18O-labeled water experiment, we were able to conclude that the oxidation of organic substrates was mediated by an oxoiron(IV) intermediate, not by a radical type of autoxidation process.  相似文献

Simultaneous determination of Fe(II) and Fe(III) was studied using partial least squares regression (PLS) and principal component regression (PCR) methods. The models were based on the difference observed in the rates of the complex formation of iron in its two oxidation states with 1,2-naphthaquinone-2-thiosemicarbazone-4-sulphonic acid (NQT4S) at pH 4.0 in cetyltrimethylammoniumbromide (CTAB) as micellar media. The results showed that simultaneous determination of Fe(II) and Fe(III) could be performed in their concentration ranges of 0.10-2.10 and 0.25-2.25 μg/ml, respectively. The models used can proceed the data with low percent relative error of prediction (i.e. <5.5%). The procedure was successfully applied for the simultaneous determination of Fe(II) and Fe(III) in some environmental samples. The method would allow the transformation of the two oxidation states of iron to be monitored overtime in a water sample.  相似文献

Chlorine oxyanions have various applications, such as bleaching and oxidizers in rocket fuels. However, their high solubility in water and long environmental lifetimes have led to ecological concerns, especially regarding drinking water quality. This study focuses on the conversion of chlorite to chlorine dioxide, which is of significant interest as it exhibits superior antimicrobial activity and generates less harmful byproducts for water treatment. Two nonheme iron(II) complexes capable of producing chlorine dioxide from chlorite at room temperature and pH 5.0 are presented. These complexes oxidize chlorite through high-valent iron (IV)-oxo intermediates formed in-situ. The study establishes second-order rate constants for chlorite oxidation and investigates the effects and mechanisms involved by substituting a methyl group in the secondary coordination sphere of the FeIV(O)(N4Py) system. By employing kinetic analysis and spectroscopic investigations, the crucial elements for the reaction mechanism in chlorite oxidation are identified. These findings pave the way for future advancements in this field.  相似文献

The regularities of the formation of iron(III) oxide hydroxides as nanocrystalline particles via oxidation of iron(II) compounds in a near-neutral pH region were studied by potentiometric titration, electron microscopy, chemical analysis, and X-ray diffraction. The oxidation process comprises two steps. The first step produces Fe(II)-Fe(III) hydroxo salts having a “green rust” structure in the form of nanocrystalline particles shaped as hexagons. The second step produces anisotropic nanocrystalline particles of iron(III) oxide hydroxides via the dissolution-oxidation-precipitation mechanism and via solid-phase oxidation. The oxidation of chlorine-containing suspensions helps the formation of single-phase nanocrystalline lepidocrocite, while oxidation in the presence of sulfate ions yields nanocrystalline goethite.  相似文献
