Impact parameter variables are defined for a multiparticle production process. The equation of unitarity for elastic scattering is written at high energy in terms of these variables. The overall impact parameter can be expressed in terms of the impact parameters of all the produced particles. The unitarity equation becomes an “optical theorem” at each impact parameter — diffractive scattering is given by beam depletion. These features allow this technique to give a much clearer interpretation of unitarity in any model than has therefore been possible. This technique can be used to study existing models, and to suggest new ones.  相似文献

Eikonal method is applied to investigate the quantum effects on elastic electron–ion collisions in a two-component plasma. An effective Kelbg potential model taking into account the classical effect as well as the quantum-mechanical effect is applied to describe the electron–ion interactions in a two-component plasma. The impact parameter method is applied to represent the path of the projectile electron in order to investigate the variation of the eikonal cross section as a function of the impact parameter, thermal de Broglie wavelength, and projectile energy. In the second-order eikonal approximation, the quantum effects significantly reduce the elastic electron–ion scattering cross section. It is also found that the second-order eikonal phase is caused by the pure quantum mechanical effects.  相似文献

Using the Watson-Sommerfeld transform the elastic scattering amplitude of two spinless particles is shown to have an exact and unique impact parameter, or Fourier-Bessel (FB) representation. The representation is valid for all physical energies and scattering angles. Wallace's recent work is found to be an asymptotic expansion of the FB amplitude obtained from the partial-wave expansion. The way singularities of the partial-wave amplitude in the l-plane enter in the FB amplitude is also explicitly shown.  相似文献

We consider the three-nucleon system in which each two-nucleon pair interacts both strongly and weakly. The strong part is assumed to be separable but an addition of small non-separable term is possible. The weak two-nucleon interaction (which is absolutely non-separable) is assumed to be given in terms of its partial wave components in momentum space. These elements have been calculated by Lassey and McKellar starting from recent models of non-relativistic (strangeness conserving non-leotonic) NN weak interaction. An expression for the weak part of the elastic nucleon-deuteron scattering amplitude is derived within the framework of two potential scattering theory. The weak three-body driving terms are explicitly evaluated. They reflect weak form factors responsible for the weak dissociation of two nucleon isobars (including parity impurity of the deuteron wave function) as well as weak NN scattering. The expressions appearing below are numerically tractable and can be used to elaborate on previous calculations.  相似文献

Unitarity in the s-channel is invoked to derive an upper bound for the inelastic diffractive cross-section as a function of impact parameter. The application of this bound to high-energy proton-proton scattering strongly suggests that inelastic diffraction should be peripheral in the impact parameter space.  相似文献

We investigate classical scattering of particles by a double-well potential. Irregularity in the scattering functions, such as scattering angle and escape time, appears when the collision energy is lowered below a threshold value. This threshold is closely related to the appearance of periodic orbits with energies above the potential maxima. We study the scattering as a function of the energy and impact parameter. In this initial parameter space the scattering functions consist of regular regions interlaced with chaotic rivers. A symbolic dynamics has been developed to organize these structures and used to reveal their scaling properties.  相似文献

A generalized semiclassical treatment for the elastic scattering of heavy ions is developed in the presence of a complex optical potential. The scattering phase shift and its derivatives with respect to the impact parameter are calculated after extending the JWKBL approximation. The results are compared with experimental data for the elastic scattering of16O from medium and heavy target nuclei and relation between the present treatment and that of the optical model and Regge pole analysis is established  相似文献

We have investigated positron scattering from the alkali atoms lithium, sodium, potassium and rubidium, focusing on the calculation of differential cross sections for elastic scattering and impact excitation. The results obtained with the two-state and five-state close-coupling method as well as the first-order distorted wave Born approximation are compared with each other and with some selected results for electron scattering. Numerical problems due to lack of, or numerically inaccurate, calculation of partial waves with large angular momenta are solved through semi-empirical fitting/extrapolation procedures.  相似文献

The momentum space coupled channels optical(CCO) method for positron scattering has been extended to study the scattering of positrons by metastable helium for impact energies in the range from the positronium threshold up to high energies. Both the positronium formation and ionization continuum channels are included in the calculations via a complex equivalent local potential. The positronium formation, ionization, elastic and 2~3S–2~3P excitation, and total scattering cross sections are all presented and compared with the available information.  相似文献

This paper investigates the impact of corrugated boundary surfaces, reinforcement on the propagation of Love-type wave in prestressed corrugated heterogeneous fiber-reinforced layer resting over a void pores half-space. The heterogeneity in the upper corrugated layer is caused due to exponential variation in the elastic constants with respect to the space variable pointing positively downwards. The dispersion equation in the complex form has been derived using method of separation of variables. The real and imaginary parts of the complex dispersion equation were separated and found in well agreement with the classical Love wave equation. Also, the attenuation of the Love waves has been discussed. The study reveals that such a medium transmits two fronts of Love waves. The first front depends upon the change in volume fraction of the pores and the second front depends upon the modulus of rigidity of the elastic matrix of the medium. The substantial influence of corrugation parameters, reinforcement, undulatory parameter, initial stress, heterogeneity parameter and position parameter on the phase velocity, and attenuation of Love-type wave have been observed and depicted by means of graph. It has been observed that the phase velocity decreases with the increase in initial stress parameters, heterogeneity, and reinforcement in upper layer.  相似文献

Asymmetries for scattering of longitudinally polarized electrons from deuterons with a vector polarization as well as asymmetries for scattering of unpolarized electrons from deuterons with a tensor polarization have been considered for inclusive elastic ed scattering. The sensitivity of all asymmetries considered to the electric form factor of the neutron and to the spin structure of the deuteron wave function has been investigated.  相似文献

Elastic scattering in the Multiperipheral Model (MPM) is examined by use of a new method for simplifying unitary calculations - multiparticle impact parameter. The t dependence of elastic scattering in the MPM is related to the average transverse momentum of produced particles, the average multiplicities (observables), phase variation with transverse momentum, and clustering (not observables, in general). It is shown that MPM's are inconsistent with the combination of elastic and multiparticle data, unless either the cluster size or the phases have rather strong energy dependence.  相似文献

电子非弹性散射平均自由程(IMFP)是用表面电子能谱进行表面化学定量分析时极为重要的一个参数,它可以用测量的弹性峰电子能谱分析以及蒙特卡洛模拟来确定.为了更加精确地确定电子非弹性散射平均自由程,必须对弹性峰电子能谱中的表面激发效应进行修正,通常使用介电响应理论方法计算得到的表面激发参数.然而,通过理论计算得到的表面激发参数不能包含电子在材料内部输运过程中弹性散射的影响,进而影响所测的电子非弹性散射平均自由程的准确度.在这个工作中,我们采用蒙特卡洛方法来确定包含弹性散射效应时的表面激发参数.所得到的表面激发参数在不同能量、角度情况下,尤其是在弹性散射效应显著的60°以上的大角度入射、出射情况下,都与实验测量值符合得非常好.基于这些新确定的表面激发参数,可以在弹性峰电子能谱测量中获得更为准确的电子非弹性散射平均自由程数据.  相似文献

A theory of the diffuse X-ray scattering on randomly distributed surface blisters, which constitute a new type of defects, has been developed. An expression for the amplitude of diffuse X-ray scattering from surface blisters has been obtained within the model of a truncated spherical layer. Scattering intensity distribution maps from surface blisters have been numerically simulated. The effect of the elastic bending of reflecting planes of the lattice of surface blisters on the angular distribution of the scattering intensity in the reciprocal space has been revealed.  相似文献
