The Hoogenstraaten method is a technique that uses various heating rates for obtaining the activation energy E (eV) in the case of first-order thermoluminescence glow peaks. This method can also be used for obtaining E (eV) for all types of glow peaks regardless of their kinetics order (b). The present work shows that the intercept of the Hoogenstraaten relation, which is usually used for obtaining the frequency factor S (s ?1) of the first-order glow peak, can be used as a very good approximation to obtain the pre-exponential factor S ′ ′ (s ?1) in the case of general-order glow peaks, when one uses Hoogenstraaten’s method to obtain E (eV). In addition, the present work suggests a numerical method for obtaining the kinetics order of the general-order glow peak. The method depends on the activation energy E (eV) obtained by the Hoogenstraaten method and the above-mentioned approximation for obtaining the pre-exponential factor S ′ ′ (s ?1). An independent evaluation of the suggested methods for obtaining the trap parameters, the activation energy E (eV), the pre-exponential factor S ′ ′ (s ?1) and the kinetics order (b) is illustrated here by taking a numerically computed glow peak and applying a one-trap and one-recombination-center model.  相似文献

Comments on “Derivation of general order kinetics equation using probability theory by Longjam Lovedy Singh” regarding its limitations are described. It has been found that the value of η or α (ratio of An/Am) need not be ≤1 and the use of α(N?n) for estimating empty trap population will lead to wrong estimation of the concentration/population of empty traps, i.e., <N for α?N for α?>?1 even when n?=?0.  相似文献

A simplified form of the OTOR/GOT differential equation has been derived, which may be employed in the evaluation of TL curves for saturated (N = no) and non-saturated cases (N > no). The present eqn. is found to be theoretically correct and physically sound in comparison with empirical general order kinetics. It has been found that the TL curve evaluated using the present eqn. matches the TL curves evaluated using differential eqn. formalism, and spans the region from α = no/(100N) to α = 0.999 (where α is the ratio of the retrapping probability to the recombination probability). The simulated curve resembles a first order kinetics curve when α = no/(100N) and a second order kinetics curve when α = 0.999. However, comparison with general order kinetics for the intermediate range is not possible as a one- to-one correspondence between α and b cannot be made. Also, calculation in the saturated case is made simpler since only three unknown parameters (E, s and α) are required.  相似文献

The thermoluminescence (TL) characteristics of the green emission band of natural calcite are studied. The kinetic parameters of the natural and laboratory-induced defects were estimated. The γ-dose response was studied in the range of 0.01–104 Gy. The fading rate at room temperature is monitored over a period of 30 days. The results showed that calcite has a potential use as a material for γ-ray TL dosimeters for food sterilization, testing of materials and other industrial or reactor procedures.  相似文献

Functionalized polymers were prepared by radiation-induced graft copolymerization of binary monomer system acrylic acid/acrylamide (AAc/AAm) onto low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and polypropylene (PP) films using direct radiation-grafting technique. Sulfonation was carried out for the prepared grafted copolymers using concentrated sulfuric acid (97%) at 60 °C for 15 min. The grafted and sulfonated grafted films found to have good properties such as thermal stability and hydrophilic properties. The sulfonated grafted films found to have a better hydrophilic character than the grafted ones due to ionic character resulted by this conversion. The thermoluminescence (TL) characteristics of a set of grafted and sulfonated films have been studied with regard to their use as off-line dosimeters in radiotherapy. The structural characterization has been performed by means of infrared spectroscopy. Their TL responses have been tested with radiotherapy beams of 60Co photons in the dose range 0.1–7 Gy. The dosimetric characterization has yielded a very good reproducibility and is independent of the radiation energy. The TL signal is not influenced by the dose rate and exhibits a very low thermal fading. Moreover, the sensitivity of the samples compares favorably with that of the standard TLD100 dosimeters. Finally, at the same dose, the TL response for LDPE-g-P (AAm/AAc) films is higher than the PP-$g$-P(AAm$/$AAc), and the sulfonated grafted films are more sensitive to radiation than the grafted ones.  相似文献

Abstract

Thermoluminescence (TL) and Optical Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) of natural quartz crystals from sediments have been studied in order to obtain the ages of the sediments' deposition. The sediments were collected from an archaeological site, located in State of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. In the present work the phototransfer TL process was observed in the 394°C TL peak, which increased 10–20% in its intensity when the sample was exposed to sunlight. As the samples did not provide a residual TL, a new methodology to evaluate the paleodose (P) was devised. Annual doses were evaluated based on uranium, thorium and potassium contents determined by neutron activation analysis. Preliminary ages were compared to those obtained by OSL and ages between (11–35) 103 BP were obtained.  相似文献

The mineral fraction from dehydrated nopal leaves (Opuntia ficus indica) belonging to the Cactaceae family was extracted and selected by sizes of 10 and 74 μm and exposed to 60Co gamma radiation at different doses in the range 70 Gy–20 kGy. The glow-curves from these polyminerals show a thermoluminescence (TL) band with one very intense peak at a temperature around 150 °C and a second one emerging in the high temperature region, moving in a large zone of temperature values according to the preparation used and the level of irradiation. The XRD analysis shows a composition of both biominerals as whewellite and weddellite and a mineral fraction as anorthoclase and quartz. The main TL characteristics of the polymineral content of the nopal was analyzed, i.e. the TL response at different doses and fading during storage at room temperature. The activation energy of the traps responsible for the TL emission was also investigated and a possible continuous distribution of traps is discussed. A review of the scientific literature shows that this is the first time that a TL study on nopal ionized by irradiation has been carried out.  相似文献

T mT stop and glow curve deconvolution methods have been used to determine the number of glow peaks and kinetic parameters (activation energy E and frequency factor s) associated with the glow peaks in a natural dolerite. The T mT stop method indicated that the glow curve of the mineral is the superposition of at least seven first-order components, whereas deconvolution analysis indicated the presence of at least eight peaks. A possible reason for this discrepancy is given. The kinetic parameters of the eight peaks are presented and used to estimate the lifetimes of the glow peaks. The lifetimes of the peaks at 120.8 and 143 °C are few days. For application in dosimetry and dating, we suggest the use of a preheat temperature around 170 °C to ensure the complete removal of these peaks with small lifetimes.  相似文献

The thermoluminescence (TL) properties of dode-calcium hepta-aluminate (Ca12Al14O33) enabled by 12CaO-7Al2O3 doped with rare earth and transitions metals ions have been studied and their suitability for radiation dosimetry applications is discussed. It was observed that this calcium aluminate phase doped with Tm-Cu at concentration of 0.1 mol% is a good candidate for dosimetric applications since it presents well-defined single peak observed at 240 °C and 320 °C and a linear response to gamma radiation dose from 5 × 10−3 Gy up to 100 Gy.  相似文献

以ZnS为基质材料,分别掺入0.05%,0.10%,0.15%,0.20%,0.25%浓度的Cu^+作为激活剂,制得5个ZnS:Cu电致发光材料样品。通过对样品材料热释光曲线的分析和电致发光亮度的测量,得出结论:当Cu^+的浓度含量过高,虽然发光中心数目增加,但热释光曲线的强度降低。当Cu^+掺入浓度为0.15%时,ZnS:Cu电致发光材料的热释光曲线峰值最大,发光亮度最高。  相似文献

It is shown that several problems, that are met when constructing a covariant statistical theory, can be circumverted demanding that only the resulting equation for the macroscopic entities are covariant whereas only mathematical meaning is ascribed to concepts as phase space and ensemble density. In luminescence and ESR studies, a systematic underestimate of the (average) equivalent dose, and thus also the age, of a sample can occur when there is significant variation of the natural dose within the sample and some regions approach saturation. This is demonstrated explicitly for a material that exhibits a single-saturating-exponential growth of signal with dose. The result is valid for any geometry (e.g. a plain layer, spherical grain, etc.) and some illustrative cases are modelled, with the age bias exceeding 10% in extreme cases. If the dose distribution within the sample can be modelled accurately, it is possible to correct for the bias in the estimates of equivalent dose estimate and age. While quantifying the effect would be more difficult, similar systematic biases in dose and age estimates are likely in other situations more complex than the one modelled.  相似文献

In this work, a polypropylene (PP)/attapulgite nanocomposite was prepared via melt blending using a novel organically modified attapulgite (OATP). The thermal stability of PP/clay nanocomposites compared to pure PP was examined in nitrogen using a kinetic analysis. The kinetic parameters, including reaction order and activation energy (A and E a) of the degradation process were determined by applying the Flynn‐Wall‐Ozawa method using derivative thermogravimetric (DTG) curves. At the same time, the effect of organic attapulgite on thermal decomposition of polypropylene matrix was analyzed. As a result, PP/OATP nanocomposites have slightly higher degradation temperature than that of the pure PP. The values of the reaction order of PP and PP/OATP nanocomposites are close to 1 in the nonisothermal degradation process. The activation energies of PP/OATP nanocomposites also increase slightly compared to the pure PP, thus it is suggested that the org‐attapulgite has little effect on the thermal stability of the pure PP.  相似文献

The parameters characterizing trap and recombination centers, such as activation energies, recombination and trap probabilities, involved in thermoluminescent materials can be found by analyzing phosphorescence curves with an adopted model consisting of trap and recombination centers, and assuming the mechanisms involved in the carrier traffic (kinetics). Nowadays the most employed kinetics is the General Order kinetics (GO). Since this model is heuristic, this article reports how successful it is in providing reliable values for the traps parameters. The equations describing the traffic of carriers were used to generate simulated phosphorescence curves for specific values of trap and recombination parameters. These simulated phosphorescence curves were later analyzed with the GO kinetics, and the resulting parameters compared to the correct ones in order to evaluate the validity of the model.  相似文献
