The kinetics of RuIII catalyzed reduction of hexacyanoferrate(III) [Fe(CN)6]3–, by atenolol in alkaline medium at constant ionic strength (0.80 mol dm–3) has been studied spectrophotometrically, using a rapid kinetic accessory. The reaction between atenolol and [Fe(CN)6]3– in alkaline medium exhibits 1:2 stoichiometry [atenolol:Fe(CN)6 3–]. The reaction showed first order kinetics in [Fe(CN)6]3– concentration and apparent less than unit order dependence, each in atenolol and alkali concentrations. Effect of added products, ionic strength and dielectric constant of the reaction medium have been investigated. A retarding effect was observed by one of the products i.e., hexacyanoferrate(II). The main products were identified by i.r., n.m.r., fluorimetric and mass spectral studies. A mechanism involving the formation of a complex between the atenolol and the hydroxylated species of ruthenium(III) has been proposed. The active species of oxidant and catalyst were [Fe(CN)6]3–and [Ru (H2O)5OH]2+, respectively. The reaction constants involved in the mechanism were evaluated. The activation parameters were computed with respect to the slow step of the mechanism, and discussed.  相似文献

The impact of hydroxyl group adsorption on fullerene surface (namely fullerenol) has been systematically investigated in this study using the hybrid density-functional theory calculations. We find that the relative stability of fullerenol clearly depends on the distribution of hydroxyl group on the surface. The eight hydroxyl groups in C20(OH)8 structure show preference to accumulate on two adjoining five-numbered rings. Analysis of reaction energy indicates that the formation of fullerenol from the C20 fullerene and hydroxyl group is energetically favorable. The highly hydroxylated fullerene is found to have high kinetic stability and low chemical reactivity, which is mostly associated with its electron distribution of HOMO and LUMO orbitals. In addition, the electronic structure of the most stable fullerenols has been analyzed by means of the total and partial density of states.  相似文献

A new cyanide-containing building block K[Fe(pcq)(CN)(3)] [1; pcq(-) = 8-(pyridine-2-carboxamido)quinoline anion] containing a low-spin Fe(III) center with three cyanide groups in a meridional arrangement has been successfully designed and synthesized. Three cyanide-bridged trinuclear Fe(III)(2)Mn(II) complexes, [Fe(pcq)(CN)(3)](2)[Mn(CH(3)OH)(2)(H(2)O)(2)].2H(2)O (2), [Fe(pcq)(CN)(3)](2)[Mn(bipy)(2)].CH(3)OH.2H(2)O (3), and [Fe(pcq)(CN)(3)](2)[Mn(phen)(2)].CH(3)OH.2H(2)O (4), have been synthesized and structurally characterized. The magnetic susceptibilities of the three heterometallic complexes have been investigated.  相似文献

FTIR spectroscopy combined with isotope labeling experiments and quantum chemical calculations is used to investigate the adsorption of carbon dioxide on hydroxylated metal oxide surfaces. In particular, transmission FTIR spectra following CO2 adsorption on hydroxylated nanoparticulate Fe2O3, alpha-Al2O3, and gamma-Al2O3 particles at 296 K are reported. As expected, reaction of CO2 with these surfaces results in the formation of adsorbed bicarbonate and carbonate. In this study, the vibrational spectrum of the bicarbonate product is analyzed in detail through the use of isotope labeling experiments and quantum chemical calculations. The experimental and calculated vibrational frequencies of adsorbed HC16O3-, DC16O3-, HC18O3-, HC16O18O2-, and HC18O16O2- indicate that bicarbonate bonds to the surface in a bridged structure. There is some evidence from the mixed isotope experiments that following initial nucleophilic attack of OH, the formation of the final bicarbonate structure involves a proton transfer. On the basis of energetic considerations, the proton transfer mechanism most likely occurs through an intermolecular process involving either coadsorbed hydroxyl groups and/or carbonate.  相似文献

The reaction of [Fe(III)L(CN)(3)](-) (L being bpca = bis(2-pyridylcarbonyl)amidate, pcq = 8-(pyridine-2-carboxamido)quinoline) or [Fe(III)(bpb)(CN)(2)](-) (bpb = 1,2-bis(pyridine-2-carboxamido)benzenate) ferric complexes with Mn(III) salen type complexes afforded seven new bimetallic cyanido-bridged Mn(III)-Fe(III) systems: [Fe(pcq)(CN)(3)Mn(saltmen)(CH(3)OH)]·CH(3)OH (1), [Fe(bpca)(CN)(3)Mn(3-MeO-salen)(OH(2))]·CH(3)OH·H(2)O (2), [Fe(bpca)(CN)(3)Mn(salpen)] (3), [Fe(bpca)(CN)(3)Mn(saltmen)] (4), [Fe(bpca)(CN)(3)Mn(5-Me-saltmen)]·2CHCl(3) (5), [Fe(pcq)(CN)(3)Mn(5-Me-saltmen)]·2CH(3)OH·0.75H(2)O (6), and [Fe(bpb)(CN)(2)Mn(saltmen)]·2CH(3)OH (7) (with saltmen(2-) = N,N'-(1,1,2,2-tetramethylethylene)bis(salicylideneiminato) dianion, salpen(2-) = N,N'-propylenebis(salicylideneiminato) dianion, salen(2-) = N,N'-ethylenebis(salicylideneiminato) dianion). Single crystal X-ray diffraction studies were carried out for all these compounds indicating that compounds 1 and 2 are discrete dinuclear [Fe(III)-CN-Mn(III)] complexes while systems 3-7 are heterometallic chains with {-NC-Fe(III)-CN-Mn(III)} repeating units. These chains are connected through π-π and short contact interactions to form extended supramolecular networks. Investigation of the magnetic properties revealed the occurrence of antiferromagnetic Mn(III)···Fe(III) interactions in 1-4 while ferromagnetic Mn(III)···Fe(III) interactions were detected in 5-7. The nature of these Mn(III)···Fe(III) magnetic interactions mediated by a CN bridge appeared to be dependent on the Schiff base substituent. The packing is also strongly affected by the nature of the substituent and the presence of solvent molecules, resulting in additional antiferromagnetic interdinuclear/interchain interactions. Thus the crystal packing and the supramolecular interactions induce different magnetic properties for these systems. The dinuclear complexes 1 and 2, which possess a paramagnetic S(T) = 3/2 ground state, interact antiferromagnetically in their crystal packing. At high temperature, the complexes 3-7 exhibit a one-dimensional magnetic behavior, but at low temperature their magnetic properties are modulated by the supramolecular arrangement: a three-dimensional antiferromagnetic order with a metamagnetic behavior is observed for 3, 4, and 7, and Single-Chain Magnet properties are detected for 5 and 6.  相似文献

The factors influencing the formation of metal hexacyano-ferrate(II) complexes have been examined and the experimental conditions leading to formation of M(2)Fe(CN)(6), and K(2)M(3)[Fe(CN)(6)](2) have been studied, where M is Cu(II) or Zn(II); Ag(I) yields Ag(4)Fe(CN)(6). and KAg(3)Fe(CN)(6) and Pb(II) yields only Pb(2)Fe(CN)(6). Measurements made at constant ionic strength obtained by addition of K(2)SO(4) show how the potassium ion affects the stabilization of the complexes. The free energy changes and K(sp) values for the complexes have been calculated.  相似文献

The reaction of manganese(III) Schiff bases of the type salen(2-) (N,N'-ethylenebis(salicylideneaminato)) with X-substituted (X = CH(3), Cl) pyridinecarboxamide dicyanoferrite(III) [Fe(X-bpb)(CN)(2)](-) gave rise to a series of cyanide-bridged Mn(6)Fe(6) molecular wheels, [Mn(III)(salen)](6)[Fe(III)(bpmb)(CN)(2)](6) x 7H(2)O (1), [Mn(salen)](6)[Fe(bpClb)(CN)(2)](6) x 4H(2)O x 2CH(3)OH (2), [Mn(salen)](6)[Fe(bpdmb)(CN)(2)](6) x 10H(2)O x 5CH(3)OH (3), [Mn(5-Br(salpn))](6)[Fe(bpmb)(CN)(2)](6) x 24H(2)O x 8CH(3)CN (4), and [Mn(5-Cl(salpn))](6)[Fe(bpmb)(CN)(2)](6) x 25H(2)O x 5CH(3)CN (5). Compared with [Fe(bpb)(CN)(2)](-), which always gives rise to 1D or polynuclear species when reacting with Mn(III) Schiff bases, the introduction of substituents (X) to the bpb(2-) ligand has a driving force in formation of the novel wheel structure. Magnetic studies reveal that high-spin ground state S = 15 is present in the wheel compounds originated from the ferromagnetic Mn(III)-Fe(III) coupling. For the first time, the quantum Monte Carlo study has been used to modulate the magnetic susceptibility of the huge Mn(6)Fe(6) metallomacrocycles, showing that the magnetic coupling constants J range from 3.0 to 8.0 K on the basis of the spin Hamiltonian [Formula: see text]. Hysteresis loops for 1 have been observed below 0.8 K, indicative of a single-molecule magnet with a blocking temperature (TB) of 0.8 K. Molecular wheels 2-5 exhibit frequency dependence of alternating-current magnetic susceptibility under zero direct-current magnetic field, signifying the slow magnetization relaxation similar to that of 1. Significantly, an unprecedented archlike Mn(2)Fe(2) cluster, [Mn(5-Cl(salpn))](2)[Fe(bpmb)(CN)(2)](2) x 3H(2)O x CH(3)CN (6), has been isolated as an intermediate of the Mn(6)Fe(6) wheel 5. Ferromagnetic Mn(III)-Fe(III) coupling results in a high-spin S = 5 ground state. Combination of the high-spin state and a negative magnetic anisotropy (D) results in the observation of slow magnetization relaxation in 6.  相似文献

The kinetics of the reaction between aqueous solutions of Na(2)[Fe(CN)(5)NO].2H(2)O (sodium pentacyanonitrosylferrate(ii), nitroprusside, SNP) and MeN(H)OH (N-methylhydroxylamine, MeHA) has been studied by means of UV-vis spectroscopy, using complementary solution techniques: FTIR/ATR, EPR, mass spectrometry and isotopic labeling ((15)NO), in the pH range 7.1-9.3, I = 1 M (NaCl). The main products were N-methyl-N-nitrosohydroxylamine (MeN(NO)OH) and [Fe(CN)(5)H(2)O](3-), characterized as the [Fe(CN)(5)(pyCONH(2))](3-) complex (pyCONH(2) = isonicotinamide). No reaction occurred with Me(2)NOH (N,N-dimethylhydroxylamine, Me(2)HA) as nucleophile. The rate law was: R = k(exp) [Fe(CN)(5)NO(2-)] x [MeN(H)OH] x [OH(-)], with k(exp) = 1.6 +/- 0.2 x 10(5) M(-2) s(-1), at 25.0 degrees C, and DeltaH(#) = 34 +/- 3 kJ mol(-1), DeltaS(#) = -32 +/- 11 J K(-1) mol(-1), at pH 8.0. The proposed mechanism involves the formation of a precursor associative complex between SNP and MeHA, followed by an OH(-)-assisted reversible formation of a deprotonated adduct, [Fe(CN)(5)(N(O)NMeOH)](3-), and rapid dissociation of MeN(NO)OH. In excess SNP, the precursor complex reacts through a competitive one-electron-transfer path, forming the [Fe(CN)(5)NO](3-) ion with slow production of small quantities of N(2)O. The stoichiometry and mechanism of the main adduct-formation path are similar to those previously reported for hydroxylamine (HA) and related nucleophiles. The nitrosated product, MeN(NO)OH, decomposes thermally at physiological temperatures, slowly yielding NO.  相似文献

Gamma-irradiation of deaerated aqueous solutions containing FeSO(4) leads to the formation of uniform-sized colloidal particles of γ-FeOOH. At short irradiation times, or in solutions with a low initial [Fe(2+)](0), spherical particles with a size less than 10 nm are formed. These primary particles grow to form a dendritic structure upon longer irradiation, and the final size of the large particles is ~60 nm with a very narrow size distribution. Further prolonged irradiation does not change the final particle size. The narrow size distribution is attributed to rapid homogeneous radiolytic oxidation of soluble Fe(2+) to relatively insoluble Fe(3+) hydroxides [Fe(H(2)O)(6-n)(OH)(n)](3-n) leading to particle nucleation by spontaneous condensation. These primary particles then grow into γ-FeOOH particles with a dendritic structure. The final size reached at long times is regulated by the steady-state redox conditions established during long-term irradiation at the aqueous-solid interface.  相似文献

Using radiolytic experiments hydroxyl radical (main reactant in advanced oxidation processes) was shown to effectively destroy paracetamol molecules. The basic reaction is attachment to the ring. The hydroxy-cyclohexadienyl radical produced in the further reactions may transform to hydroxylated paracetamol derivatives or to quinone type molecules and acetamide. The initial efficiency of aromatic ring destruction in the absence of dissolved O2 is c.a. 10%. The efficiency is 2–3 times higher in the presence of O2 due to its reaction with intermediate hydroxy-cyclohexadienyl radical and the subsequent ring destruction reactions through peroxi radical. Upon irradiation the toxicity of solutions at low doses increases with the dose and then at higher doses it decreases. This is due to formation of compounds with higher toxicity than paracetamol (e.g. acetamide, hidroquinone). These products, however, are highly sensitive to irradiation and degrade easily.  相似文献

With the use of the tailored cyanometalate precursor, (Bu4N)[(Tp)Fe(CN)3] (Tp = Tris(pyrazolyl)hydroborate) as the building block to react with fully solvated Cu(II), Co(II), and Ni(II) cations, four one-dimensional (1D) heterobimetallic cyano-bridged chain complexes of squares, [(Tp)2Fe(III)2(CN)6Cu(CH3OH).2CH3OH]n (1), [(Tp)2Fe(III)2(CN)6Cu(DMF).DMF]n (2), [(Tp)2Fe(III)2(CN)6M(CH3OH)2.2CH3OH]n (M = Co (3) and Ni (4)), have been prepared. In complexes 1 and 2, the Cu(II) ions are pentacoordinated in the form of a slightly distorted square-based pyramid, and they are linked by distorted octahedrons of [(Tp)Fe(CN)3]- to form 1D chains of squares. In complexes 3 and 4, both the central Co(II) and Ni(II) ions have a slightly distorted octahedral coordination geometry, and they are bridged by [(Tp)Fe(CN)3]- to form similar 1D chains of squares. There are weak interchain pi-pi stacking interactions through the pyrazolyl groups of the Tp ligands for complexes 3 and 4. The crystal structures and magnetic studies demonstrate that complexes 1 and 2 exhibit intrachain ferromagnetic coupling and single-chain magnets behavior, and the blocking temperature is ca. 6 K for complex 1 and ca. 3 K for complex 2. Complexes 3 and 4 show significant metamagnetic behavior, where the cyanides mediate the intrachain ferromagnetic coupling between Fe(III) and Co(II) or Ni(II) ions and the interchain pi-pi stacking interactions lead to antiferromagnetic couplings. The field dependence of the magnetization measurements shows that the critical field is around 1 kOe for complex 3 and 0.8 kOe for complex 4 at 1.8 K.  相似文献

Aqueous solutions of pyridoxine (1 mM) without or with additive of K3[Fe(CN)6] (2.5 mM) were gamma-irradiated at different doses and dose rate of 2.16 kGy/h in the absence of air, in the presence of air or by their saturation with N2O. The radiolytic products were analyzed with HPLC, mass spectrometry and UV spectroscopy. 2,4,5-Trihydroxymethyl-3-pyridinol, pyridoxal, isopyridoxal and 6-hydroxypyridoxine were formed by radiolysis in the absence of K3[Fe(CN)6], and their concentrations were much higher in samples saturated with N2O. Pyridoxi-3,6-quinone was found by radiolysis under all the above-mentioned conditions but only in the presence of K3[Fe(CN)6]. Besides, the pyridoxal formation increased in the presence of this oxidizing agent. G values of pyridoxal formation and pyridoxine degradation were quantified. Some details of the radiolytic product formation were discussed.  相似文献

Formation of hydroxyl radicals in aqueous solutions by atmospheric pressure DC glow discharge was investigated. The ferrocyanide was used as an OH scavenger at different pH. Experimental results indicated that pH effect on hydroxyl radical formation rate could be explained by particularities of [Fe(CN)6]4? and reactive species interaction in different media.  相似文献

Summary The kinetics and mechanism of the system: [FeL(OH)]2–n + 5 CN [Fe(CN)5(OH)]3– + Ln–, where L=DTPA or HEDTA, have been investigated at pH= 10.5±0.2, I=0.25 M and t=25±0.1 C.As in the reaction of [FeEDTA(OH)]2–, the formation of [Fe(CN)5(OH)]3– through the formation of mixed ligand complex intermediates of the type [FeL(OH)(CN)x]2–n–x, is proposed. The reactions were found to consist of three observable stages. The first involves the formation of [Fe(CN)5(OH)]3–, the second is the conversion of [Fe(CN)5(OH)]3– into [Fe(CN)6]3– and the third is the reduction of [Fe(CN)6]3– to [Fe(CN)6]4– by oxidation of Ln– The first reaction exhibits a variable order dependence on the concentration of cyanide, ranging from one at high cyanide concentration to three at low concentration. The transition between [FeL(OH)]2–n and [Fe(CN)5(OH)]3– is kinetically controlled by the presence of four cyanide ions around the central iron atom in the rate determining step. The second reaction shows first order dependence on the concentration of [Fe(CN)5(OH)]3– as well as on cyanide, while the third reaction follows overall second order kinetics; first order each in [Fe(CN)6]3– and Ln–, released in the reaction. The reaction rate is highly dependent on hydroxide ion concentration. The reverse reaction between [Fe(CN)5(OH)]3– and Ln– showed an inverse first order dependence on cyanide concentration along with first order dependence each on [Fe(CN)5– (OH)]3– and Ln–. A five step mechanism is proposed for the first stage of the above two systems.  相似文献

The catalytic disproportionation of NH(2)OH has been studied in anaerobic aqueous solution, pH 6-9.3, at 25.0 degrees C, with Na(3)[Fe(CN)(5)NH(3)].3H(2)O as a precursor of the catalyst, [Fe(II)(CN)(5)H(2)O](3)(-). The oxidation products are N(2), N(2)O, and NO(+) (bound in the nitroprusside ion, NP), and NH(3) is the reduction product. The yields of N(2)/N(2)O increase with pH and with the concentration of NH(2)OH. Fast regime conditions involve a chain process initiated by the NH(2) radical, generated upon coordination of NH(2)OH to [Fe(II)(CN)(5)H(2)O](3)(-). NH(3) and nitroxyl, HNO, are formed in this fast process, and HNO leads to the production of N(2), N(2)O, and NP. An intermediate absorbing at 440 nm is always observed, whose formation and decay depend on the medium conditions. It was identified by UV-vis, RR, and (15)NMR spectroscopies as the diazene-bound [Fe(II)(CN)(5)N(2)H(2)](3)(-) ion and is formed in a competitive process with the radical path, still under the fast regime. At high pH's or NH(2)OH concentrations, an inhibited regime is reached, with slow production of only N(2) and NH(3). The stable red diazene-bridged [(NC)(5)FeHN=NHFe(CN)(5)](6)(-) ion is formed at an advanced degree of NH(2)OH consumption.  相似文献

The reactions of the low-temperature polymorph of copper(I) cyanide (LT-CuCN) with concentrated aqueous alkali-metal halide solutions have been investigated. At room temperature, KX (X = Br and I) and CsX (X = Cl, Br, and I) produce the addition products K[Cu(2)(CN)(2)Br].H(2)O (I), K(3)[Cu(6)(CN)(6)I(3)].2H(2)O (II), Cs[Cu(3)(CN)(3)Cl] (III), Cs[Cu(3)(CN)(3)Br] (IV), and Cs(2)[Cu(4)(CN)(4)I(2)].H(2)O (V), with 3-D frameworks in which the -(CuCN)- chains present in CuCN persist. No reaction occurs, however, with NaX (X = Cl, Br, I) or KCl. The addition compounds, I-V, reconvert to CuCN when washed. Both low- and high-temperature polymorphs of CuCN (LT- and HT-CuCN) are produced, except in the case of Cs[Cu(3)(CN)(3)Cl] (III), which converts only to LT-CuCN. Heating similar AX-CuCN reaction mixtures under hydrothermal conditions at 453 K for 1 day produces single crystals of I-V suitable for structure determination. Under these more forcing conditions, reactions also occur with NaX (X = Cl, Br, I) and KCl. NaBr and KCl cause some conversion of LT-CuCN into HT-CuCN, while NaCl and NaI, respectively, react to form the mixed-valence Cu(I)/Cu(II) compounds [Cu(II)(OH(2))(4)][Cu(I)(4)(CN)(6)], a known phase, and [Cu(II)(OH(2))(4)][Cu(I)(4)(CN)(4)I(2)] (VI), a 3-D framework, which contains infinite -(CuCN)- chains. After 3 days of heating under hydrothermal conditions, the reaction between KI and CuCN produces [Cu(II)(OH(2))(4)][Cu(I)(2)(CN)I(2)](2) (VII), in which the CuCN chains are broken into single Cu-CN-Cu units, which in turn are linked into chains via iodine atoms and then into layers via long Cu-C and Cu-Cu interactions.  相似文献

The electrophilic reactivity of the pentacyanonitrosylferrate(II) ion, [Fe(CN)(5)NO](2)(-), toward hydrazine (Hz) and substituted hydrazines (MeHz, 1,1-Me(2)Hz, and 1,2-Me(2)Hz) has been studied by means of stoichiometric and kinetic experiments (pH 6-10). The reaction of Hz led to N(2)O and NH(3), with similar paths for MeHz and 1,1-Me(2)Hz, which form the corresponding amines. A parallel path has been found for MeHz, leading to N(2)O, N(2), and MeOH. The reaction of 1,2-Me(2)Hz follows a different route, characterized by azomethane formation (MeNNMe), full reduction of nitrosyl to NH(3), and intermediate detection of [Fe(CN)(5)NO](3)(-). In the above reactions, [Fe(CN)(5)H(2)O](3)(-) was always a product, allowing the system to proceed catalytically for nitrite reduction, an issue relevant in relation to the behavior of the nitrite and nitric oxide reductase enzymes. The mechanism comprises initial reversible adduct formation through the binding of the nucleophile to the N-atom of nitrosyl. The adducts decompose through OH(-) attack giving the final products, without intermediate detection. Rate constants for the adduct-formation steps (k = 0.43 M(-)(1) s(-)(1), 25 degrees C for Hz) decrease with methylation by about an order of magnitude. Among the different systems studied, one-, two-, and multielectron reductions of bound NO(+) are analyzed comparatively, with consideration of the role of NO, HNO (nitroxyl), and hydroxylamine as bound intermediates. A DFT study (B3LYP) of the reaction profile allows one to characterize intermediates in the potential hypersurface. These are the initial adducts, as well as their decomposition products, the eta(1)- and eta(2)-linkage isomers of N(2)O.  相似文献

The coupling of TiO(2) and transition metal complexes is attempted with the aim of higher functionalization of the TiO(2) photocatalyst. UV irradiation (lambda(ex)>300 nm) of a TiO(2) suspension containing equimolar aqueous solutions of FeCl(3) and K(3)[Fe(CN)(6)] forms uniform thin films of "water-insoluble Prussian blue" (PB, Fe(4)(3+) [Fe(II)(CN)(6)](3)) on the surface of TiO(2) particles. The PB photodeposition is enhanced significantly by the addition of a small amount of CH(3)OH in both the rutile and anatase TiO(2) systems. The activity of anatase TiO(2) is greater than that of rutile in the presence of CH(3)OH (2.46 M) by a factor of 1.6+/-0.2, whereas the activities are comparable in the absence of CH(3)OH. These results are discussed on the basis of a proposed reaction mechanism. Copyright 2001 Academic Press.  相似文献

The hydroxylation process is the primary, and even the rate-determining step of the photocatalytic degradation of aromatic compounds. To make clear the hydroxylation pathway of aromatics, the TiO(2) photocatalytic hydroxylation of several model substrates, such as benzoic acid, benzene, nitrobenzene, and benzonitrile, has been studied by an oxygen-isotope-labeling method, which can definitively assign the origin of the O atoms (from oxidant O(2) or solvent H(2)O) in the hydroxyl groups of the hydroxylated products. It is found that the oxygen source of the hydroxylated products depends markedly on the reaction conditions. The percentage of the products with O(2)-derived hydroxyl O atoms increases with the irradiation time, while it decreases with the increase of substrate concentration. More intriguingly, when photogenerated valence-band holes (h(vb)(+)) are removed, nearly all the O atoms (>97?%) in the hydroxyl groups of the hydroxylated products of benzoic acid come from O(2), whereas the scavenging of conduction-band electrons (e(cb)(-)) makes almost all the hydroxyl O atoms (>95?%) originate from solvent H(2)O. In the photocatalytic oxidation system with benzoic acid and benzene coexisting in the same dispersion, the percentage of O(2)-derived hydroxyl O atoms in the hydroxylated products of strongly adsorbed benzoic acid (ca. 30?%) is much less than in that of weakly adsorbed benzene (phenol) (>60?%). Such dependences provide unique clues to uncover the photocatalytic hydroxylation pathway. Our experiments show that the main O(2)-incorporation pathway involves the reduction of O(2) by e(cb)(-) and the subsequent formation of free (?)OH via H(2)O(2), which was usually overlooked in the past photocatalytic studies. Moreover, in the hydroxylation initiated by h(vb)(+), unlike the conventional mechanism, the O atom in O(2) cannot incorporate into the product through the direct coupling between molecular O(2) and the substrate-based radicals.  相似文献
