Antiferromagnetic/ferromagnetic (AF/F) NiMn/Fe37Co48Hf15 films were investigated with respect to their exchange bias, in-plane unidirectional anisotropy, polarisation and high frequency behaviour. After deposition, carried out by r.f. magnetron sputtering, the films were post-annealed for 4 h at 300 °C in a static magnetic field, in order to induce exchange-bias, which results in a unidirectional anisotropy. Dependent on the presence of a bi-layer or multi-layer sandwich structure the films show a different exchange-bias field-ferromagnetic inter-layer thickness behaviour with exchange-bias fields μ0?Heb between 2 and 10 mT. The in-plane uniaxial (single film) or unidirectional anisotropy fields μ0*HUF were between 4 and 18 mT. This results in a significant increase of the cut-off frequency in the GHz range in comparison to a single Fe37Co48Hf15 film, which is shown by frequency-dependent permeability plots. High damping in the imaginary part of the permeability, i.e., high resonance line broadening could be observed for films with high coercivity μ0*Hc of around 7 mT in the easy axis of magnetisation.  相似文献

FeCo–MnO nanocomposites were prepared by ball milling mixtures of Fe, Co and Mn, where MnO was obtained from the oxidation of Mn after or during the milling process. The coercivity and squareness of FeCo–MnO nanocomposites increase with increasing milling time. After annealing treatment, the coercivity and squareness increase and exhibit a maximum at 120 h milling time. The temperature dependence of the magnetic properties of FeCo–MnO was also studied and there is a distinct boundary at 120 K. The exchange-bias field and the coercivity decrease quickly with increasing temperature from 30 to 120 K. However, there are no shifted hysteresis loops and the coercivity decreases slightly with increasing temperature from 120 K to room temperature. The enhancement of the coercivity and squareness is mainly attributed to the exchange-bias effects and the reduced magnetic interactions between the FeCo particles by the efficient isolation in MnO matrix.  相似文献

In an exchange-bias system, the barriers with intrinsic potential energy may be asymmetric due to unidirectional anisotropy. Based on the Stoner-Wohlfarth model, we show that the asymmetric barriers may lead to four kinds of dynamical process underlying the hysteresis-loop measurement. These kinds of dynamical processes are different in a topology-like property, which can be controlled by the orientation of the external field. In our study, a new analysis approach has been proposed to reveal the dynamical behaviors of magnetization reversal. With this approach, coercivity, exchange-bias field, and asymmetry of hysteresis loops can be quantitatively obtained.  相似文献

Exchange biased IrMn/NiFe/IrMn thin films were studied as a function of NiFe thickness. In plane angular dependence of a resonance field distribution which is measured by FMR was analyzed as a combined effect of an unidirectional anisotropy and an uniaxial anisotropy. The unidirectional anisotropic field and the uniaxial anisotropic field were linearly varied with NiFe thickness while the films with a thicker NiFe layer do not follow the linear variation. Resonance field and linewidth variations were also analysed with NiFe thickness.  相似文献

A systematic study of exchange bias in MnPd/Co and MnPd/Co1−xFex bilayers has been carried out. Very large unidirectional anisotropy constant of 2.2 erg/cm2 and the appearance of double-shifted loops, ascribed to the coexistence of positive and negative exchange bias, have been observed. The dependence of exchange bias, unidirectional anisotropy constant and coercivity on thickness, temperature, annealing regime and Fe content has been investigated and discussed.  相似文献

Magnetic and structural properties in [MnPd/Co]10 multilayers deposited onto Si(1 1 1) substrates have been investigated. The dependences of anisotropy and exchange bias on the thicknesses of both MnPd and Co layers have been studied. In most of the samples, the out-of-plane magnetic anisotropy and both large out-of-plane and in-plane exchange biases have been observed at cryogenic temperature below the blocking temperature TB≈240 K. With appropriate MnPd and Co thicknesses, we have obtained samples with a large out-of-plane exchange bias along with a large out-of-plane magnetic anisotropy. The origin of the out-of-plane magnetic anisotropy in the samples has been suggested to be due to the formation of CoPd interfacial alloys which have tensile in-plane strains, while the spin structure of the antiferromagnetic layer at the interface which is believed to be responsible for exchange bias may be the same as that of the bulk material. Also, the present study shows that the interplay between the out-of-plane magnetic anisotropy and exchange bias is evident in our multilayers and plays an important role in the out-of-plane exchange-bias mechanism.  相似文献

The influence of different M2+ cations on the effective magnetic anisotropy of systems composed of MFe2O4 (M=Fe, Co and Mn) nanoparticles was investigated. Samples were prepared by the high-temperature (538 K) solution phase reaction of Fe (acac)3, Co (acac)2 and Mn (acac)2 with 1,2 octanodiol in the presence of oleic acid and oleylamine. The final particles are coated by an organic layer of oleic acid that prevents agglomeration. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images show that particles present near spherical form and a narrow grain size distribution, with mean diameters in the range of 4.5–7.6 nm. Powder samples were analyzed by ac susceptibility and Mössbauer measurements, and Keff for all samples was evaluated using both techniques, showing a strong dependence on the nature of the divalent cation.  相似文献

The magnetic Compton profiles (MCPs) of Fe thin film with 1 μm thickness have been successfully measured, using polyethylene terephtalate (PET) substrates with 4 μm thickness to reduce scattering photons from substrate. We have succeeded for the first time to observe the anisotropy of MCPs in the Co/Pd multilayer. The magnetic out-of-plane anisotropy of the current Co (0.8 nm)/Pd (1.6 nm) multilayer sample can be explained by the model of a large number of the |m|=1 states of 3d-bands.  相似文献

The angular dependences of the switching field and coercivity for magnetic multilayer films with strain caused by lattice mismatch are studied in detail with the help of the Stoner-Wohlfarth model. The expressions or equations for determining the switching field and the coercivity are obtained analytically, taking the strain effect into consideration. With these analytical expressions, the roles of the strain and the unidirectional anisotropy (exchange coupling) are displayed clearly. Compared to the standard Stoner-Wohlfarth model (without strain), the centers of the curves of the switching field and coercivity are found to shift from π/2 to π/2+θ due to the in-plane strain caused by the lattice mismatch between the film and substrate. For the ferromagnetic/antiferromagnetic exchange bias systems, the angularly dependent amplitude of the switching field or coercivity exhibits an obvious asymmetry. The staggering or separation of the peaks of the two branches of the coercivity results in a jump phenomenon in the curves for the exchange bias field and the coercivity near θ.  相似文献

Lorentz transmission electron microscopy (LTEM) combined with in-situ magnetizing experiments is a powerful tool for the investigation of the magnetization of the reversal process at the micron scale. We have implemented this tool on a conventional transmission electron microscope (TEM) to study the exchange anisotropy of a polycrystalline Co35Fe65/NiMn bilayer. Semi-quantitative maps of the magnetic induction were obtained at different field values by the differential phase contrast (DPC) technique adapted for a TEM (SIDPC). The hysteresis loop of the bilayer has been calculated from the relative intensity of magnetic maps. The curve shows the appearance of an exchange-bias field reveals with two distinct reversal modes of the magnetization: the first path corresponds to a reversal by wall propagation when the applied field is parallel to the anisotropy direction whereas the second is a reversal by coherent rotation of magnetic moments when the field is applied antiparallel to unidirectional anisotropy direction.  相似文献

FexPd1−x (x=.30, .44, .55, .67, and .78) films were directly grown on SrTiO3(001) and MgO(001) by molecular beam epitaxy at 500 C. The thickness of all films is 50 nm. X-ray diffraction shows epitaxial quality and face-center- tetragonal (00l), (002), and (003) peaks indicating an FePd L10 order state for films of x=.30, .44 and .55. X-ray diffraction only shows (002) peaks with a relatively weak intensity for the film of x=.67 and no (00l) peak is observed, but a broad body-center-cubic Fe(002) is identified for the film of x=.78. Magnetic hysteresis curves are carried out by a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) with an applied field within 12 kOe. Magnetization of both in-plane and perpendicular-to- the-plane measurements show a linear increase of the magnetization saturation from 560 emu/cm3 to 1250 emu/cm3 as x increasing from .30 to .78. For the results of the in-plane measurements, remanence (Mr), however, shows a minimum while the anisotropy field (Hk) shows a maximum for the film with x=.44 indicating the optimal content ratio of Fe/Pd for perpendicular anisotropy in the present alloy films. Further, negative remanence is observed in the hysteresis curves where the field is perpendicular to the film of x=.78 This may indicate that the L10order state still affects the magnetic anisotropy for high Fe content films even though the film has a body-center-cubic structure.  相似文献

Magnetic anisotropies at epitaxial Fe/KNiF3 interfaces were probed by ferromagnetic resonance. Fe(0 0 1) films coupled to single crystal KNiF3 exhibit four-fold in-plane anisotropy and a unidirectional bias upon field-cooling. In Fe(0 0 1) with polycrystalline KNiF3, the bias direction deviates from the field-cooling direction. Lattice mismatch strain due to polycrystalline KNiF3 also induces uniaxial anisotropy in Fe.  相似文献

A comprehensive study of the influence of ferromagnetic thickness on the static and dynamic magnetic properties in exchange-biased FeCo/MnIr multilayers for both strong and weak exchange-bias coupling cases is presented. The results demonstrate that static and dynamic magnetic anisotropy fields decrease with ferromagnetic thickness in both cases. The rising of rotational anisotropy is discussed in conjunction with the enhanced coercivity and exchange bias by taking into account the roles of the rotatable and frozen antiferromagnetic spins in each of the two cases. Due to the contributions of the exchange bias and rotational anisotropy, the resonance frequency can be tailored up to 10 GHz. In addition, the behaviors of the frequency linewidth and the effective damping factor are discussed and ascribed to the dispersion of magnetic anisotropy.  相似文献

Bilayers, TbFeCo/GdFeCoSi, made by sputtering on glass substrate with buffer and capping layers were studied by measuring the hysteresis loop and by ferromagnetic resonance (FMR). When the field H was applied along the film normal, a double HC hysteresis loop related to the two sublayers was observed. In ferromagnetic resonance measurements, a peculiar out-of-plane angular dependence of FMR spectrum was obtained. When scanning field H was 0-637 kA/m less than the anisotropy field of TbFeCo sublayer, two FMR peaks were observed. One peak was characteristic of uniaxial and unidirectional anisotropy. The anisotropy constants were obtained by fitting the data with the theory of FMR, and this peak was considered to be related to the low anisotropy GdFeCoSi layer. The second peak appeared only when the dc field H was orientated in a limited angular range around 180°. This peak was considered to be related to an uncoupled interfacial GdFeCoSi sublayer near Al capping layer. However, when H was scanned between 0-1114 kA/m, only one peak is observed due to magnetization reversal of TbFeCo layer with uniaxial anisotropy.  相似文献

In Co/CoO nanostructures, of dimensions l×3l, at small Co thickness (≈6,10 nm), a strong increase in the bias field and the associated coercive field are found as the nanostructure size is reduced from l=120 nm to l=30 nm. This property indicates that the characteristic length D(AF) within the antiferromagnet which governs exchange-bias effects is the nanostructure size. By contrast, at larger Co thickness (≈23 nm), the exchange-bias field does not depend on the nanostructure size, implying that D(AF) is smaller than the nanostructure size. The results are discussed in the framework of the Malozemoff model, taking into account that the coupling between CoO grains is weak. Exchange bias is dominated either by coupling within the antiferromagnetic layer (6- and 10-nm-thick Co samples) or by ferromagnetic-antiferromagnetic interfacial coupling (23-nm-thick Co sample).  相似文献

The magnetic anisotropy in antiferromagnetic 500 A thick NiO films, before and after the establishment of an exchange bias field with Co84Fe16 ferromagnetic layers, was measured using magnetic linear dichroism in soft x-ray absorption. Both <111> textured NiO and untextured NiO films show exchange-bias induced in-plane magnetic anisotropy of nearly equal magnitude and with the Ni moment axis being nearly parallel to the exchange bias field direction. These results represent the first observation of the key step in the exchange biasing process, namely, repopulation of the antiferromagnetic domains whose magnetization axis is closest to the exchange bias field direction.  相似文献

Summary A series of ultrathin Fe/Pt multilayers, prepared by magnetron sputtering, were studied by CEMS and transmission MS. The Fe-layer thickness varied from 3 to 12.5 ? and that of Pt from 5 ? to 39 ?. The 3 ?/9 ? Pt sample displays magnetic hyperfine structure at RT, while the 3 Fe/19 Pt sample is paramagnetic at RT, demonstrating the effect of interlayer interaction. Both samples display out-of-plane magnetic anisotropy with 39° angle with respect to the vertical for the former and nearly 0° angle for the latter. The analysis of the spectra of samples with thickness larger than one monolayer of Fe is done with components assigned to individual Fe monolayers. In all these cases a component appears with a hyperfine field larger by ∼ 10% at RT and 17% at L.He than the corresponding values of α-Fe. This component is attributed to the first monolayer below the Fe/Pt interface in accordance with similar results in the Fe/Pd system and with theoretical predictions. An experimental and theoretical study of magnetization curves of Fe/Cr nanometric magnetic films grown with the structure of the quasiperiodic Fibonacci sequence is presented. Fe ferromagnetic films with interfilm exchange coupling provided by intervening Cr non-ferromagnetic layers were grown on MgO (100) by dc magnetron sputtering at 300 °C. The magnetization curves were investigated using the magneto-optical Kerr effect with the external field applied along the easy axis. The theoretical approach for this system is based on a realistic phenomenological model that includes the following contributions to free magnetic energy: Zeeman, cubic magneto-crystalline anisotropy, as well as bilinear and biquadratic exchange energies. Our numerical results are in very good agreement with the experimental data.  相似文献

Using the full potential linearized augmented plane wave (FLAPW) method, thickness dependent magnetic anisotropy of ultrathin FeCo alloy films in the range of 1 monolayer (ML) to 5 ML coverage on Pd(0 0 1) surface has been explored. We have found that the FeCo alloy films have close to half metallic state and well-known surface enhancement in thin film magnetism is observed in Fe atom, whereas the Co has rather stable magnetic moment. However, the largest magnetic moment in Fe and Co is found at 1 ML thickness. Interestingly, it has been observed that the interface magnetic moments of Fe and Co are almost the same as those of surface elements. The similar trend exists in orbital magnetic moment. This indicates that the strong hybridization between interface FeCo alloy and Pd gives rise to the large magnetic moment. Theoretically calculated magnetic anisotropy shows that the 1 ML FeCo alloy has in-plane magnetization, but the spin reorientation transition (SRT) from in-plane to perpendicular magnetization is observed above 2 ML thickness with huge magnetic anisotropy energy. The maximum magnetic anisotropy energy for perpendicular magnetization is as large as 0.3 meV/atom at 3 ML film thickness with saturation magnetization of . Besides, the calculated X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) has been presented.  相似文献
