Thermal and pressure effects have been investigated on the [Fe(sal2-trien)][Ni(dmit)2] spin crossover complex by means of Mössbauer spectroscopic, calorimetric, X-ray diffraction and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The complex displays a complete thermal spin transition between the and spin states of FeIII near 245 K with a hysteresis loop of ca. 30 K. This transition is characterised by a change of the enthalpy, ΔHHL=7 kJ/mol, entropy, ΔSHL=29 J/Kmol, and the unit cell volume, ΔVHL=15.4 Å3. Under hydrostatic pressures up to 5.7 kbar the thermal transition shifts to higher temperatures by ca. 16 K/kbar. Interestingly, at a low applied pressure of 500 bar the hysteresis loop becomes wider (ca. 61 K) and the transition is blocked at ∼50% upon cooling, indicating a possible (irreversible) structural phase transition under pressure.  相似文献

Gold-coated nanoparticles of Fe20Ni80 (permalloy) have been synthesized by a microemulsion process. The as-prepared samples consist of ∼5 nm diameter particles of amorphous Fe20Ni80 that are likely encapsulated in B2O3. One or more Fe20Ni80@B2O3 particles are subsequently encapsulated in 8-20 nm gold nanospheres, as determined by TEM and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) line broadening. The gold shells were found to be under expansive strain. Magnetic data confirm the existence of a superparamagnetic phase with a blocking temperature, TB, of ∼33 K. The saturation magnetization, MS, of the as-prepared, Au-coated sample is ∼65 emu g−1 at 5 K and ∼16 emu g−1 at 300 K. The coercivity, HC, is ∼280 Oe at 5 K.  相似文献

Polycrystalline samples of electron-doped Pr1.85Ce0.15CuO4+δ have been prepared under different annealing conditions and investigated by means of X-ray-diffraction, oxygen content analysis, electrical resistivity, magnetic susceptibility and low temperature specific heat measurements. X-ray-diffraction patterns show that samples contain a single T′ phase. The superconducting transition temperatures Tcm taken with the onset of diamagnetism in magnetic-susceptibility measurements are 20 and 19.5 K for sample annealed in flowing Ar gas and in vacuum (∼10−3 torr), respectively. The data of the samples, which are annealed in flowing Ar gas, show clear evidence for an αT2 term at zero magnetic field in superconducting electronic specific heat, and are consistent with d-wave superconductivity. However, this behavior is not observed in the other sample, which is annealed in vacuum. These results indicate that different heat treatments affect the oxygen content, homogeneity, superconducting transition temperature Tc, superconducting volume fraction, and the superconducting pairing symmetry of Pr1.85Ce0.15CuO4+δ.  相似文献

IV curves showing negative differential resistance (NDR) are reported for single crystals of Co2FeO2BO3 at 315 K and 290 K and for Fe3O2BO3 at 300 K, 260 K and 220 K. Resistivity measurements are presented for both systems, parallel and perpendicular to the c axis, in the range 315–120 K. The high hysteretic behavior of the IV curves in Co2FeO2BO3 around room temperature is discussed and the heat dissipated is estimated, suggesting an increase in the sample temperature of almost 22 K for the IV curve at 315 K and a dominant contribution of Joule self-heating for the observed NDR. In contrast, insignificant hysteresis is observed on the IV curves of Fe3O2BO3 around room temperature. The depinning of charge order domains is suggested as the main contribution to the NDR phenomenon for Fe3O2BO3. The high reproducibility of the NDR in the Fe3O2BO3 single crystal allows its use as a low frequency oscillator, as it is demonstrated.  相似文献

Mössbauer spectroscopic studies of BaFeO4 and K2FeO4 as prepared, then either sealed, or exposed to air, or exposed to moist air for a period up to more than one year, were performed at room temperature as a function of time. Some of the samples were studied as a function of temperature down to 4.2 K. K2FeO4 and BaFeO4 after preparation, exhibit a pure Fe6+ spectrum. K2FeO4 shows low stability. After a period of 14 months in a sealed sample holder, the spectrum exhibits 83% noncrystalline Fe3+, as Fe2O3 nanoparticles, and only 17% of the original Fe6+. BaFeO4 sealed, or exposed to dry air disintegrates slowly, exhibiting a spectrum composed of three subspectra. In addition to the original Fe6+ and final Fe3+ subspectra, a subspectrum, of an intermediate stage of a crystalline Fe4+ system, is present. In the first month the increase of the Fe3+ subspectrum is 15%, and that of the Fe4+ is 8%. BaFeO4 exposed to moist air, disintegrates at a very fast rate. The Fe3+ subspectrum, due to Fe2O3 nanoparticles, increases in the first days at the rapid rate of ∼13%/day, and there is no evidence for Fe4+ in the spectrum. The Fe6+ in BaFeO4, Fe3+ and Fe4+ in the disintegrated systems are all magnetically ordered at 4.2 K. Above 90 K the Fe3+ subspectra exhibit a superposition of a paramagnetic doublet and a diffuse magnetic sextet, with relative intensities changing with temperature, and changing from sample to sample according to their blocking temperatures, which are determined by the distribution in size of the nanoparticles.  相似文献

The heat treatment effects on structural and electrical properties of thermally deposited AgIn5S8 thin films have been investigated. By increasing the annealing temperature of the sample from 450 to 500 K, we observed a change in the crystallization direction from (420) to (311). Further annealing of the AgIn5S8 films at 550, 600 and 650 K resulted in larger grain size in the (311) preferred direction. The room temperature electrical resistivity, Hall coefficient and Hall mobility were significantly influenced by higher annealing temperatures. Three impurity levels at 230, 150, and 78 meV were detected for samples annealed at 350 K. The electrical resistivity decreased by four orders of magnitude when the sample annealing temperature was raised from 350 to 450 K. The temperature dependent electrical resistivity and carrier concentration of the thin film samples were studied in the temperature ranges of 25-300 K and 140-300 K, respectively. A degenerate-nondegenerate semiconductor transition at approximately 180 was observed for samples annealed at 450 and 500 K. Similar type of transition was observed at 240 K for samples annealed at 600 and 650 K.  相似文献

The ferromagnetic shape memory alloy with nominal composition Ni54Fe19Ga27 is investigated by Ac susceptibility and resistivity measurements. The alloy shows long-range ferromagnetic order below 290 K. The anomaly due to the martensitic transition is observed in the susceptibility and resistivity data in the temperature range around 220 K, which is associated with clear thermal hysteresis. Minor hysteresis loop technique was used to investigate the phase coexistence across the martensitic transition, and our analysis indicate that both martensite and austenite phases mutually coexist in the region of hysteresis.  相似文献

The charge density wave (CDW) dynamics of the quasi-one-dimensional conductor K0.30MoO3 shows two different regimes depending on the temperature: a strongly damped CDW motion above ∼50 K and CDW motion with almost no damping below ∼50 K. In a search for a characterization of this CDW behaviour, we performed thermal expansion measurements on K0.30MoO3 single crystals in the temperature range 4-250 K. In addition to the anomaly observed at the Peierls transition at 180 K along the [102] direction, an anomaly is observed at ∼50 K along the [−201] and [102] directions. The results are discussed in relation with the change in the CDW rigidity at ∼50 K.  相似文献

All samples are synthesized through a standard solid state reaction route and are quenched to room temperature systematically at 700 °C, 500 °C, 300 °C, and room temperature (RT); the samples are denoted 700Q, 500Q, 300Q, and RTQ, respectively. The structural, and magnetic properties are studied. Careful Rietveld analysis of the X-ray diffraction patterns revealed that all samples except 700Q crystallized in a single phase with space group P4/nmm; the amount of interstitial Fe (Feint) at the 2c site increased from 5% for RTQ to 8% for 500Q. Sample 700Q crystallized in the Fe7Se8 phase. The magnetization result revealed that RTQ and 300Q are superconducting at 10 K and 13 K, respectively, while 500Q and 700Q are not superconducting. Magnetic ordering was observed at around 125 K for all the samples. The prominence of in terms of effective moment is sufficiently higher for 500Q and 700Q than for RTQ and 300Q. Summarily, it is found that quenching-induced disorder affects the occupancy of interstitial Fe in FeTe1/2Se1/2 and thus both its superconducting and magnetic properties. Further, it clear that limited presence of interstitial Fe at 2c site is not completely contrary to the observation of superconductivity, because the 300Q sample possesses higher Tc (13 K) for higher Feint (6%) than the RTQ sample with relatively lower Tc (10 K) having lower Feint (5%). Further, the 500Q sample, with much higher Feint (8%), is non-superconducting.  相似文献

Thermal property was measured in a lead nitrate crystal, Pb(NO3)2, at temperatures from 90 to 340 K by use of ac calorimetry technique. The heat capacity derived from the measurements showed temperature dependence with thermal hysteresis, in the temperature region from 240 to 300 K. The anomaly of the heat capacity was found in the vicinity of 275.22 K. The broad temperature variation in the heat capacity was observed in the region from 235 to 260 K.  相似文献

The physical and structural properties of Fe1.11Te and Fe1.11Te0.5Se0.5 have been investigated by means of X-ray and neutron diffraction as well as physical property measurements. For the Fe1.11Te compound, the structure distortion from a tetragonal to monoclinic phase takes place at 64 K accompanied with the onset of antiferromagnetic order upon cooling. The magnetic structure of the monoclinic phase was confirmed to be of antiferromagnetic configuration with a propagation vector k = (1/2, 0, 1/2) based on Rietveld refinement of neutron powder diffraction data. The structural/magnetic transitions are also clearly visible in magnetic, electronic and thermodynamic measurements. For superconducting Fe1.11Te0.5Se0.5 compound, the superconducting transition with T c = 13.4 K is observed in the resistivity and ac susceptibility measurements. The upper critical field H c2 is obtained by measuring the resistivity under different magnetic fields. The Kim’s critical state model is adopted to analyze the temperature dependence of the ac susceptibility and the intergranular critical current density is calculated as a function of both field amplitude and temperature. Neutron diffraction results show that Fe1.11Te0.5Se0.5 crystalizes in tetragonal structure at 300 K as in the parent compound Fe1.11Te and no structural distortion is detected upon cooling to 2 K. However an anisotropic thermal expansion anomaly is observed around 100 K.  相似文献

The crystal structure and electromagnetic properties as well as thermal stability of the A-site ordered PrBaMn2O6 manganites have been investigated. These samples have been prepared by using ‘two-steps’ synthesis mode. They have tetragonal structure with no tilt of MnO6 octahedra and show ferromagnetic metal to paramagnetic semiconductor transition. The most significant structural feature of the A-site ordered manganites is that the MnO2 sublattice is sandwiched by two types of rock-salt layers PrO and BaO. The different degree of Pr and Ba ions in the A-sublattice is revealed. The A-site ordered PrBaMn2O6 sample with maximum degree of the A-site order demonstrates ferromagnetic metallic to paramagnetic insulating transition with the Curie point ∼320 K. The A-site disordered Pr0.50Ba0.50MnO3 sample is ferromagnetic metal below TC≈140 K. The cation order in these compounds is stable in air up to 1300 °C. For the partly A-site ordered samples the magnetic and electronic phase separation is observed. The magnetotransport properties of the A-site ordered manganites treated under different conditions are discussed in terms of the superexchange interactions and A-site order degree.  相似文献

Thermal conductivity (λ) of nanocrystalline La1−xAgxMnO3 (x=0.05, 0.15, 0.25, 0.3) pellets prepared by pyrophoric method is reported between 10 and 300 K. Magnitude of thermal conductivity has been found to be strongly influenced by monovalent (Ag) substitution at the La site. Silver doping in LaMnO3 enhances TC of the system to ∼299 K. Qualitative nature of the temperature variation of thermal conductivity of the silver substituted lanthanum manganites remains closely similar to that for divalent doped systems. Our analysis demonstrates that in La1−xAgxMnO3 also, the mechanism of heat conduction is predominantly by phonons. The contribution of the electronic part is only ∼1% of the total λ. The spin wave contribution is also estimated close to TC, which for all the samples lies within ∼2%. At temperatures below ∼100 K, the measured data have been analyzed using phonon relaxation time method and the strengths of the various phonon scattering processes have been estimated. Our analysis further suggests strong influence of phonon scattering by 2D like defects in the thermal conductivity of monovalent doped lanthanum manganites at low temperatures (<70 K) in the ferromagnetic region.  相似文献

Magnetic properties of SrCo2V 2O8 single crystal are investigated by means of ac magnetic susceptibility, dc magnetization and heat capacity measurements. The results show that SrCo2V 2O8 possesses two canted antiferromagnetic transitions at ∼5 and ∼3 K, which is different from isostructural BaCo2V 2O8 with only one antiferromagnetic transition at ∼5 K. We suggest that such different magnetic properties are mainly due to their different structural symmetry.  相似文献

La0.8Sr0.2Co1−xFexO3 (x=0.15, 0.2, 0.3) samples were studied by means of AC magnetic susceptibility, magnetization, magnetoresistance and 57Fe Mössbauer spectrometry. Iron was found to take on a high spin 3d5−α electronic state in each of the samples, where α refers to a partly delocalized 3d electron. The compounds were found to exhibit a spin-cluster glass transition with a common transition temperature of ∼53 K. The spin-cluster glass transition is visualized in the 57Fe Mössbauer spectra as the slowing down of magnetic relaxation below ∼70 K, thereby showing that iron takes part in the formation of the glassy magnetic phase. The paramagnetic-like phase found at higher temperatures is identified below Tc≈195 K as being composed of weakly interacting, magnetically ordered nanosized clusters of magnetic ions in part with a magnetic moment oriented opposite to the net magnetic moment of the cluster. For each of the samples a considerable low-temperature negative magnetoresistance was found, whose magnitude in the studied range decreases with increasing iron concentration. The observed results obtained on the present compounds are qualitatively explained assuming that the absolute strengths of magnetic exchange interactions are subject to the relation ∣JCo–Co∣<∣JFe–Co∣<∣JFe–Fe∣.  相似文献

Nanocrystalline BiFeO3 and rare earth ion doped BiFeO3 (Bi0.9R0.1FeO3, R=Er and Tm) were prepared by sol–gel method. Rietveld analysis of the X-ray diffractograms of the samples revealed that small amount of impurity phase of Bi2Fe4O9 was formed together with the desired phase. In the thermal variation of magnetic mass susceptibility (χm) of the samples, one sharp transition below TM (TM∼100 K, 50 K and 30 K for BiFeO3, Bi0.9Er0.1FeO3 and Bi0.9Tm0.1FeO3, respectively) was observed, which clearly hint the change of the domination of the ferromagnetic exchange interaction over the usual antiferromagnetic exchange interaction. Also, static magnetization (M) and susceptibility of each doped sample have been drastically enhanced compared to that of BiFeO3. The values of χm and M measured at different temperatures confirmed that the magnetic behavior of the doped systems has been dominated by the paramagnetic/ferromagnetic clusters below ∼TM. Another phase transition were observed in the χm vs. T curve of the samples at relatively higher temperature TB (∼260 K for BiFeO3, ∼220 K for Bi0.9Er0.1FeO3 and ∼180 K for Bi0.9Tm0.1FeO3), which may be attributed to the charge ordering transition. Ferroelectric hysteresis loops of the samples observed at 100 Hz confirmed the presence of ferroelectric ordering of the samples. Measured values of dielectric constants at 1 kHz of each sample in presence and absence of magnetic field confirmed a substantial magnetoelectric coupling of all the samples.  相似文献

Pb0.7Ge0.3Te and Pb0.5Ge0.5Te alloys, (i) quenched from 923 K or (ii) quenched and annealed at 573 K for 2 h, have been studied by 125Te NMR, X-ray diffraction, electron and optical microscopy, as well as energy dispersive spectroscopy. Depending on the composition and thermal treatment history, 125Te NMR spectra exhibit different resonance frequencies and spin-lattice relaxation times, which can be assigned to different phases in the alloy. Quenched and annealed Pb0.7Ge0.3Te alloys can be considered as solid solutions but are shown by NMR to have components with various carrier concentrations. Quenched and annealed Pb0.5Ge0.5Te alloys contain GeTe- and PbTe-based phases with different compositions and charge carrier concentrations. Based on the analysis of non-exponential 125Te NMR spin-lattice relaxation, the fractions and carrier concentrations of the various phases have been estimated. Our data show that alloying of PbTe with Ge results in the formation of chemically and electronically inhomogeneous systems. 125Te NMR can be used as an efficient probe to detect the local composition in equilibrium as well as non-equilibrium states, and to determine the local carrier concentrations in complex multiphase tellurides.  相似文献

The microwave dielectric and magnetic properties of Pb(Fe2/3W1/3)O3 multiferroic ceramics were investigated. A dielectric dispersion occurring in the frequency range 100 MHz-3 GHz and in a broad temperature range showed itself to be a powerful tool to detect magnetostrictive effects. The experimental results revealed the following remarkable features: the temperature dependence of fR (characteristic frequency) and the dielectric strength Δε (characteristic of the dispersion) enabled us to identify not only the para-ferroelectric (TC≈180 K) but also the para-antiferromagnetic (TN≈340 K) phase transitions, while magnetic measurements revealed the para-antiferromagnetic ordering and a weak superexchange interaction (TN2∼15 K). Additionally, both characterizations confirmed the existence of structural or magnetic instabilities around 250 K.  相似文献

The low-temperature crystal structure of Fe1.13Te, which exhibits an anomalous two-step magnetic transition, was clarified by the systematic x-ray diffraction measurements. It was found that two-step structural phase transition, tetragonal–orthorhombic–monoclinic, occurred correspondingly to the two-step magnetic transition. The detailed analysis of the profile at 5 K indicated the coexistence of the minor orthorhombic area inside the major, monoclinic lattice, which could explain the lower-shift (suppression) of the antiferromagnetic transition temperature in Fe1.13Te and suggest a possibility of superconductivity at the domain boundary.  相似文献

Ferromagnetic shape memory alloy with nominal composition Co37Ni34Al29 is investigated by transport and magnetic measurements. The anomaly due to the martensitic transition is observed around 130-210 K. The thermal hysteresis, observed due to martensitic transition in the dc magnetization versus temperature data, gets suppressed at higher applied field. Below 50 K, magnetization varies with temperature perfectly as T3/2, which signifies that spin wave excitations are largely responsible for thermal demagnetization. The sample shows small negative magneto-resistance, which varies non-monotonically with temperature showing largest value at around 200 K.  相似文献
