We investigated the properties of 4,4'-biphenyl dicarboxylic acid diethyl ester (PCE). The PCE underwent a 2-step reduction at -1.5 V and -2.2 V. The color of the PCE changed from colorless to yellow in the first step and consequently to red in the second reduction step. A PCE based EC cell using an NiO-modified electrode was also fabricated. The NiO electrode worked as a counter reaction material for PCE reduction. The PCE-NiO cell achieved multi-coloration ranging from colorless to yellow and red, and also achieved high coloration efficiency and long term switching stability.  相似文献

The formation and the decay of the triplet metal to ligand charge transfer state ((3)MLCT) of ruthenium(II) bis(2,2'-bipyridine)(4,4'-dicarboxy-2,2'-bipyridine) (Ru(bpy)(2)(dcbpy)) were characterized using photoacoustic calorimetry. At pH 6 and 2, the (3)MLCT state formation leads to a volume change of -8 mL mol(-1) and enthalpy changes of 17 kcal mol(-1) and 13 kcal mol(-1), respectively. We attribute the volume contraction to structural changes and to solvent electrostriction. At pH 4, the photoexcitation of the complex leads to an expansion of 14 mL mol(-1) and an enthalpy change of approximately 119 kcal mol(-1) due to protonation of the carboxyl group in the excited state.  相似文献

Indium tin oxide (ITO) electrodes modified by attachment of tris(2,2'-bipyridine-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid) iron(II) are examined. The mode of attachment is believed to be via the COOH functions in a manner similar to attachment of similar carboxylate-containing compounds to TiO2 surfaces. On the surface the complex resides as a stable electrochemically active monolayer. These modified electrodes can efficiently catalyze the oxidation of certain cobalt complexes, specifically, tris(4,4'-di-tert-butyl-2,2'-bipyridine) cobalt(II). On the unmodified ITO surfaces this cobalt complex is essentially electrochemically inert. The catalytic process approaches diffusional control at very slow scan speeds. Also, the electro-catalysis is sufficiently efficient that the peak oxidation current for Co2+, under certain conditions, exceeds the i(p) for the surface oxidation of the adsorbed Fe2+ by >x100 and the current for the uncatalyzed oxidation of Co2+ by considerably more than that.  相似文献

Formation of adlayers of the optically active compound 1,1'-binaphthyl-2, 2'-dicarboxylic acid (BINAC) on iodine-modified Au (111) surfaces in perchloric acid was investigated by in situ scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). Highly ordered arrays formed on the surfaces via simple spontaneous adsorption from a solution of enantiomers or the racemic BINAC, in spite of the fact that BINAC has a three-dimensionally complex stereochemical structure. Adlayers of both enantiomers essentially shared the same enantiomorphous structure. Observed parameters of the rectangular unit cell lattice for arrays of both enantiomers of BINAC were a = 2.3 +/- 0.2 nm and b = 0.7 +/- 0.2 nm. On the other hand, racemic modification formed an entirely different adlayer, which consisted of an alternate alignment of the two enantiomers, with an oblique unit cell lattice with parameters of a = 1.2 +/- 0.2 nm, b = 0.8 +/- 0.1 nm, and 74 +/- 3 degrees . No domain composed of a single enantiomer was observed. The stronger hetero-intermolecular interactions of enantiomer couples led to the formation of an alternate arrangement in the array prepared by racemic modification.  相似文献

Bis(diimine)-ruthenium complexes constitute a class of catalysts with good activity for oxidation reactions, such as sulfoxidation and epoxidation. The synthesis and the full characterization of a new ruthenium complex bearing an original pentadentate ligand (L5pyr for 2,6-bis-(6-ethyl-2,2'-bipyridyl)-pyridine) is reported. Comparison of its activity with regard to[Ru(bpy)2(CH3CN)2](2+) and [Ru(bpy)2(py)(CH3CN)](2+) during alkene and sulfide oxidation allowed us to conclude that the addition of a fifth pyridine ligand in the coordination sphere improves the efficiency of the catalyst. Moreover, under these oxidation conditions a hydroxylation of the ligand L5pyr led to a better activity than its analogue [Ru(bpy)2(py)(CH3CN)](2+), especially during epoxidation of alkenes by PhI(OAc)2.  相似文献

This report describes the synthesis of derivatives of two nitrogen tetracyclic ring systems, respectively 9H,11H-pyrimido[4,3-c]pyrrolo[1,2-a][1,4]benzodiazepine and spiro[piperidine-4,4′-[4H]pyrrolo[1,2-a][1,4]-benzodiazepine], by the use of the diethyl ester of 5,6-dihydro-4H-pyrrolo[1,2-a][1,4]benzodiazepine-4,4-diacetic acid as a synthon. This compound was obtained by condensation of 1-(2-aminomethylphenyl)-1H-pyrrole with diethyl 1,3-acetonedicarboxylate in acid medium. Pyrimidopyrrolobenzodiazepine derivatives were obtained by treating either the pyrrolobenzodiazepine 4,4-diacetate or the related 4-methyl-4-acetate with phenylisocyanate in boiling diethyl ether in the presence of sodium metal. The structure of 12,13-dihydro-11,13-dioxo-12-phenyl-9H,11H-pyrimido[4,3-c]pyrrolo[1,2-a][1,4]benzodiazepine, a product formed by loss of an acetate unit when 5,6-dihydro-4H-pyrrolo[1,2-a][1,4]benzodiazepine-4,4-diacetate, sodium metal and phenyl-isocyanate reacted in boiling xylene, was proved by catalytic reduction to 11,13-dioxo-12-phenyl-12,13,14,14a-tetrahydro-9H,11H-pyrimido[4,3-c]pyrrolo[1,2-a][1,4]benzodiazepine, which was synthesized by unambiguous pathway via 5,6-dihydro-4H-pyrrolo[1,2-a][1,4]benzodiazepine-4-acetate. The 2,6-dioxospiro[piperidine-4,4′-[4H]pyrrolo[1,2-a][1,4]benzodiazepine] derivatives were synthesized from the N-BOC derivative of 5,6-dihydro-4H-pyrrolo[1,2-a][1,4]benzodiazepine-4,4-diacetic acid diethyl ester, by hydrolysis followed by treatment with 2 equivalents of 1,1′-carbonyldiimidazole (CDI) and then with aniline or benzylamine. Removal of BOC from the N-phenyl-2,6-dioxopiperidine derivative was obtained by heating the related spiroderivative in toluene in the presence of p-toluenesulphonic acid. Similar reaction failed when the N-benzyl-2,6-dioxopiperidine analog was used as substrate.  相似文献

The evolution of chemical composition and structure during the thermal imidization of an ester-type polyimide precursor, poly(4,4'-oxydiphenylene p-pyromellitamic diethyl ester), in micrometer scale films were studied for a heating rate of 2.0 degrees C/min with time-resolved synchrotron X-ray diffraction, in-situ infrared spectroscopy, and modulated differential scanning calorimetry. Our analyses show that the precursor polymer undergoes imidization in a two-step process. In the first step, the precursor polymer is decomplexed from the residual solvent molecules, and in the second step, it undergoes imide ring formation with the release of ethanol as a byproduct. The imidization reaction starts around 210 degrees C and continues up to 320 degrees C. The thermal imidization reaction induces the structural evolution of the film. As the imidization reaction proceeds, the coherent length along the polymer chain axis increases. This imidization-induced structural evolution was found to occur via three steps: (i) initiation, (ii) the first crystallization, and (iii) the second crystallization. The initiation step is necessary prior to the evolution of the crystalline structure to increase the chain mobility of the precursor polymer chains, and it requires thermal heating up to at least 238 degrees C at which point 22.5% of the imidization is complete. Thereafter, the first crystallization occurs up to 310 degrees C, at which point 98.3% of the imidization is complete. In the range 310-380 degrees C, the second crystallization occurs and produces almost complete imidization of the polymer chains.  相似文献

The kinetic study of ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of a diester functionalised norbornene derivative, (±)-exo,endo-bicyclo[2.2.1]hept-5-ene-2,3-dicarboxylic acid diethyl ester, with a series of ruthenium benzylidene complexes revealed the applicability of these initiators for well defined polymerization reactions. Values for the rate of initiation as well as the rate of propagation of the initiators were determined and correlated to the molecular weight and polydispersity of the isolated polymers. As the only initiator providing an entry to virtually monodisperse polymers the classical “first generation Grubbs-catalyst” was identified, while N-heterocyclic carbene based initiators polymerized with a rate of propagation much higher than the rate of initiation yielding polymers with a broader molecular weight distribution.  相似文献

Primarily trans-1-chloroaziridine is formed in the chlorination of the potassium salt of aziridine-2,2-dicarboxylic acid methyl ester. The silver salt and then the mixed methyl ethyl ester, as well as the trimethylammonium and -phenylethylammonium salts, were obtained from trans-1-chloroaziridine. [structure: see text]The methyl ester of the naturally occurring macrocyclic pentapeptide stephanotic acid, containing an unusual beta-substituted alpha-amino acid with a tryptophan C-6 to leucine beta-carbon link, has been synthesized. The key steps include the formation of this amino acid through a thioxo-oxazolidine intermediate and a Horner-Wadsworth-Emmons reaction using a phosphonoglycine, derived by a dirhodium(II)-catalyzed N-H insertion reaction, to give a dehydroamino acid and subsequent rhodium(I)-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation to introduce the modified tryptophan residue.  相似文献
