The stochastic averaging method for strongly non-linear oscillators with lightly fractional derivative damping of order α (0<α≤1) subject to bounded noise excitations is proposed by using the generalized harmonic function. The system state is approximated by a two-dimensional time-homogeneous diffusion Markov process of amplitude and phase difference using the proposed stochastic averaging method. The approximate stationary probability density of response is obtained by solving the reduced Fokker–Planck–Kolmogorov (FPK) equation using the finite difference method and successive over relaxation method. A Duffing oscillator is taken as an example to show the application and validity of the method. In the case of primary resonance, the stochastic jump of the Duffing oscillator with fractional derivative damping and its P-bifurcation as the system parameters change are examined for the first time using the stationary probability density of amplitude.  相似文献

The method of equivalent external excitation is derived to predict the stationary variances of the states of non-linear oscillators subjected to both stochastic parametric and external excitations. The oscillator is interpreted as one which is excited solely by an external zero-mean stochastic process. The Fokker-Planck-Kolmogorov equation is then applied to solve for the density functions and match the stationary variances of the states. Four examples which include polynomial, non-polynomial, and Duffing type non-linear oscillators are used to illustrate this approach. The validity of the present approach is compared with some exact solutions and with Monte Carlo simulations.  相似文献

A procedure is developed for averaging the differential equations for certain non-linear oscillators which are damped and externally driven. The procedure makes possible the obtaining of marginal stability boundaries for bifurcations in parameter space and is useful for systems with unperturbed solutions involving Jacobi elliptic functions. Specific cases of a driven, damped pendulum, an anharmonie oscillator, a Duffing oscillator, and a non-linear Helmholtz oscillator are examined.  相似文献

In this paper free oscillators with a power-form restoring force and with a fractional derivative damping term are considered. An analytical approach based on the averaging method is adjusted to derive analytical expressions for the amplitude and phase of oscillations. Effects of the fractional-order derivative on the amplitude and frequency of oscillations are discussed in several examples, including a generalized van der Pol oscillator, purely nonlinear oscillators and a linear oscillator.  相似文献

A new stochastic averaging procedure for single-degree-of-freedom strongly non-linear oscillators with lightly linear and (or) non-linear dampings subject to weakly external and (or) parametric excitations of wide-band random processes is developed by using the so-called generalized harmonic functions. The procedure is applied to predict the response of Duffing–van der Pol oscillator under both external and parametric excitations of wide-band stationary random processes. The analytical stationary probability density is verified by digital simulation and the factors affecting the accuracy of the procedure are analyzed. The proposed procedure is also applied to study the asymptotic stability in probability and stochastic Hopf bifurcation of Duffing–van der Pol oscillator under parametric excitations of wide-band stationary random processes in both stiffness and damping terms. The stability conditions and bifurcation parameter are simply determined by examining the asymptotic behaviors of averaged square-root of total energy and averaged total energy, respectively, at its boundaries. It is shown that the stability analysis using linearized equation is correct only if the linear stiffness term does not vanish.  相似文献

Dynamics of a class of strongly nonlinear single degree of freedom oscillators is investigated. Their common characteristic is that they possess piecewise linear damping properties, which can be expressed in a general asymmetric form. More specifically, the damping coefficient and a constant parameter appearing in the equation of motion are functions of the velocity direction. This class of oscillators is quite general and includes other important categories of mechanical systems as special cases, like systems with Coulomb friction. First, an analysis is presented for locating directly exact periodic responses of these oscillators to harmonic excitation. Due to the presence of dry friction, these responses may involve intervals where the oscillator is stuck temporarily. Then, an appropriate stability analysis is also presented together with some quite general bifurcation results. In the second part of the work, this analysis is applied to several example systems with piecewise linear damping, in order to reveal the most important aspects of their dynamics. Initially, systems with symmetric characteristics are examined, for which the periodic response is found to be symmetric or asymmetric. Then, dynamical systems with asymmetric damping characteristics are also examined. In all cases, emphasis is placed on investigating the low forcing frequency ranges, where interesting dynamics is noticed. The analytical predictions are complemented with results obtained by proper integration of the equation of motion, which among other responses reveal the existence of quasiperiodic, chaotic and unbounded motions.  相似文献

We show that one can apply a Lagrangian approach to certain evolution equations by considering them together with their associated equations. Consequently, one can employ Noether's theorem and derive conservation laws from symmetries of coupled systems of evolution equations. We discuss in detail the linear and non-linear heat equations as well as the Burgers equation and obtain new non-local conservation laws for the non-linear heat and the Burgers equations by extending their symmetries to the associated equations. We also provide Lagrangians for non-linear Schrödinger and Korteweg—de Vries type systems.  相似文献

An analytical method is developed for examining the first-passage problem formulated in context with the response of a class of lightly damped non-linear oscillators to broad-band random excitations. A circular (E-type) barrier is considered. The amplitude of the oscillator response is modeled as a Markovian process. This modeling leads to a backward Kolmogorov equation which governs the evolution of the survival probability of the oscillator. The Kolmogorov equation is solved approximately by using the Galerkin technique and a perturbation technique. A set of confluent hypergeometric functions are used as an orthogonal basis for the expansions which are involved in the application of the Galerkin technique and the perturbation technique. The proposed method is exemplified by considering the response of the classical Van der Pol oscillator to white noise excitation. The reliability of the derived analytical solution is assessed by comparison with digital data obtained by a Monte Carlo simulation.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to continue our investigation into periodic solutions of strongly non-linear Mathieu oscillators. The modified version of the generalized averaging method which we developed recently is applied to derive highly accurate analytical expressions for these periodic solutions. These analytical results are used, together with the perturbation methods of multiple time scaling, to obtain second order expressions for the stability regions of these periodic solutions. The analytical research results are verified with numerical computations. Very good agreement is found, which shows the applicability of the modified version of the generalized averaging method to this kind of strongly non-linear oscillators. These oscillators may be used to model the beam-beam interaction in particle accelerators.  相似文献

This work is concerned with nonlinear oscillators that have a fixed, amplitude-independent frequency. This characteristic, known as isochronicity/isochrony, is achieved by establishing the equivalence between the Lagrangian of the simple harmonic oscillator and the Lagrangian of conservative oscillators with a position-dependent coefficient of the kinetic energy, which can stem from their mass that changes with the displacement or the geometry of motion. Conditions under which such systems have an isochronous center in the origin are discussed. General expressions for the potential energy, equation of motion as well as solutions for a phase trajectory and time response are provided. A few illustrative examples accompanied with numerical verifications are also presented.  相似文献

Some recent results on the Lie symmetry generators of equations with a small parameter and the relationship between symmetries and conservation laws for such equations are used to construct first integrals and Lagrangians for autonomous weakly non-linear systems, y″+εF(t)y′+y=f(y,y′). An adaptation of a theorem that provides the point symmetry generators that leave the invariant functional involving a Lagrangian for such equations is presented. A detailed example to illustrate the method is given (and other examples are discussed). The (approximate) symmetry generators, invariants and Lagrangians maintain the perturbation order of the ‘small parameter’ stipulated in the equation — first order in this case.  相似文献

The present paper reports some interesting phenomena observed in the nonlinear dynamics of two self-excitedly coupled harmonic oscillators. The system under consideration consists of two mechanical oscillators coupled by the Rayleigh type self-exciting force. Both autonomous and nonautonomous cases for weakly coupled systems are analyzed. When the natural frequencies of the two oscillators are close to each other, only one mode of oscillation exists. As two modes of oscillations get locked to a single mode, the system is said to be in a mode-locked condition. Under a mode-locked condition, the oscillators can oscillate with only a single frequency. However, when two oscillators are sufficiently detuned, the mode-locking condition does not persist and two distinct modes of oscillations emerge. Under these circumstances, particularly when detuning is large, one of the oscillators, depending on the initial conditions, oscillates with much larger amplitude as compared to the other oscillator, and hence mode localization is observed. When one of the oscillators is subject to a harmonic excitation, at two different frequencies, termed here as the decoupling frequencies, the coupling between the oscillators is almost lost, resulting in almost zero response of the unexcited oscillator. Analytical and numerical results are presented to analyze the above mentioned phenomena. Some potential applications of the aforesaid phenomena are also discussed.  相似文献

The present paper describes an improved version of the elliptic averaging method that provides a highly accurate periodic solution of a non-linear system based on the single-degree-of-freedom Duffing oscillator with a snap-through spring. In the proposed method, the sum of the Jacobian elliptic delta and zeta functions is used as the generating solution of the averaging method. The proposed method can be used to obtain the non-odd-order solution, which includes both even- and odd-order harmonic components. The stability analysis for the approximate solution obtained by the present method is also discussed. The stability of the solution is determined from the characteristic multiplier based on Floquet’s theorem. The proposed method is applied to a fundamental oscillator in a non-linear system. The numerical results demonstrate that the proposed method is very effective for analyzing the periodic solution of half-swing mode for systems based on Duffing oscillators with a snap-through spring.  相似文献

In this paper we present an analytic methodology for the analysis of a class of electrical harmonic oscillators. We combine geometric methods with the theory of singularly perturbed systems, which we use as tool for reduced order modeling. So we are able to define an easy to use formula in order to reduce an oscillatory system to center manifold. Thus we get a model for the start-up behavior as well as for the steady-state oscillation of sinusoidal oscillators. Furthermore, we demonstrate our technique by means of the Clapp oscillator which is an important member of the Colpitts, Clapp and Pierce oscillator family.  相似文献

The cantilevered carbon nanotube is a traditional model in the design of some precise nano-oscillators. The sensitivity that is denoted by the quality factor defined as the ratio of the energy stored to the energy dissipated by losses in the oscillator is an important index for the nano-oscillators. In this paper, the small mass impacting on the single-walled carbon nanotube is simplified as an impact load and the governing equation of the transverse oscillation for the nanotube is established firstly. Based on the structure-preserving idea, the generalized multi-symplectic formulations of the governing equation are constructed. The oscillation of the damping nanotube under the transverse impact load with different amplitudes is simulated after the small numerical dissipation and the good convergence of the scheme constructed is verified. From the numerical results, the effects of the induced tension and the energy dissipation are investigated. More importantly, the high precision and the feasibility of the numerical approach proposed in this paper for reproducing the energy dissipation in the carbon nanotube oscillator are illustrated, which gives a new way to investigate the properties of the carbon nanotube oscillators.  相似文献

A method based on a differential variational principle is developed in order to extend Noether's theorem to constrained non-conservative dynamical systems. The result is applied to generate constants of the motion for a generic example of a non-linear, dissipative dynamical system with time-varying coefficients represented by the Emden equation. The converse of Noether's theorem, whereby the symmetries of the system are determined from the knowledge of the Lagrangian and a first integral is also considered for both the Emden equation, and that of the damped harmonic oscillator. It is further shown that the presence of ideal constraints (whether holonomic or non-holonomic) does not affect the statement of Noether's theorem. The constraints affect the Jacobi energy integral, however, because they enter into consideration through real work instead of virtual work. It is shown that the Jacobi integral is conserved provided that: (a) the Lagrangian is explicitly independent of time, (b) the real power of the generalized forces not derivable from a potential vanish, (c) the holonomic constraints are explicitly independent of time, (d) the non-holonomic constraints are linear and homogeneous in the generalized velocities.  相似文献

Fractional mechanics describe both conservative and nonconservative systems. The fractional variational principles gained importance in studying the fractional mechanics and several versions are proposed. In classical mechanics, the equivalent Lagrangians play an important role because they admit the same Euler–Lagrange equations. By adding a total time derivative of a suitable function to a given classical Lagrangian or by multiplying with a constant, the Lagrangian we obtain are the same equations of motion. In this study, the fractional discrete Lagrangians which differs by a fractional derivative are analyzed within Riemann–Liouville fractional derivatives. As a consequence of applying this procedure, the classical results are reobtained as a special case. The fractional generalization of Faà di Bruno formula is used in order to obtain the concrete expression of the fractional Lagrangians which differs from a given fractional Lagrangian by adding a fractional derivative. The fractional Euler–Lagrange and Hamilton equations corresponding to the obtained fractional Lagrangians are investigated, and two examples are analyzed in detail.  相似文献

In this paper, an analytical approximation of damped oscillations of some strongly non-linear, planar Hamiltonian systems is considered. To apply the Krylov–Bogoliubov–Mitropolsky method in this strongly non-linear case, we mainly provide the formal and exact solutions of the homogeneous part of the variational equations with periodic coefficients resulting from the Hamiltonian systems. It is shown that these are simply expressed in terms of the partial derivatives of the solutions, written in action-angle variables, of the Hamiltonian systems. Two examples, including a non-linear harmonic oscillator and the Morse oscillator, are presented to illustrate this extension of the method. The approximate first order solution obtained in each case is observed to be quite satisfactory.  相似文献

A new technique is proposed to obtain an approximate probability density for the response of a non-linear oscillator under Gaussian white noise excitations. The random excitations may be either multiplicative (also known as parametric) or additive (also known as external), or both. In this new technique, the original non-linear oscillator is replaced by another oscillator belonging to the class of generalized stationary potential for which the exact solution is obtainable. The replacement oscillator is selected on the basis that the average energy dissipation remains unchanged. Examples are given to illustrate the application of the new procedure. In one of the examples, the new procedure leads to a better approximation than that obtained by stochastic averaging.  相似文献

It is possible that self-excited vibrations in turbomachine blades synchronize due to elastic coupling through the shaft. The synchronization of four coupled van der Pol oscillators is presented here as a simplified model. For quasilinear oscillations, a stability condition is derived from an analysis based on linearizing the original equation around an unperturbed limit cycle and transforming it into Hill’s equation. For the nonlinear case, numerical simulations show the existence of two well-defined regions of phase relationships in parameter space in which a multiplicity of periodic attractors is embedded. The size of these regions strongly depends on the values of the oscillator and coupling constants. For the coupling constant below a critical value, there exists a region in which a diversity of phase-shift attractors is present, whereas for values above the critical value an in-phase attractor is predominant. It is observed that the presence of an anti-phase attractor in the subcritical region is associated with sudden changes in the period of the coupled oscillators. The convergence of the coupled system to a particular periodic attractor is explored using several initial conditions. The study is extended to non-identical oscillators, and it is found that there is synchronization even over a wide range of difference among the oscillator constants.  相似文献
