Full k -maps of the electronic structure near the Fermi level of differently doped cuprates measured with angle-scanned photoelectron spectroscopy are presented. The valence band maximum of the antiferromagnetic insulator Sr2CuO2Cl2, which is taken as a representative of an undoped cuprate, and the Fermi surfaces of overdoped, optimally doped and underdoped Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ high-temperature superconductors are mapped in the normal state. The results confirm the existence of large Luttinger Fermi surfaces at high doping with a Fermi surface volume proportional to (1+x), where x is the hole concentration. At very low doping, however, we find that this assumption based on Luttinger's theorem is not fulfilled. This implies a change in the topology of the Fermi surface. Furthermore the intensity of the shadow bands observed on the Fermi surface of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ as a function of the doping is discussed. Magnetic measurements have been carried out in different LaNi1-xMnxO 3 + δ samples with 0.1 ⩽ x ⩽ 0.9. All these samples show two magnetic anomalies, one at relatively high temperature characteristic of a ferromagnetic ordering and the other at low temperature, typical of magnetic relaxation phenomena. Neutron diffraction patterns indicate that long-range ferromagnetic ordering is only achieved for x ≥ 0.5. Neutron patterns of LaNi0.5Mn0.5O 3 + δ samples show an ordered arrangement of Ni and Mn atoms in the perovskite lattice. LaNi0.5Mn0.5O 3 + δ is then, a double perovskite A2BB'O6 whereas Ni and Mn atoms are randomly distributed for the rest of the samples. X-ray magnetic circular dichroism experiments confirm the presence of collinear ferromagnetism in LaNi0.5Mn0.5O 3 + δ . The role of competitive magnetic interactions, structural disorder, magnetic anisotropy and magnetic disaccommodation is also discussed Received 19 July 2002 / Received in final form 23 October 2002 Published online 31 December 2002  相似文献

Polycrystalline two-layered perovskite La2.5-xK0.5+xMn2O 7 + δ (0 < x < 0.5) samples have been prepared by a modified sol-gel method and their magnetoresistance and magnetocaloric effects have been studied. A large deviation between the metal-insulator (MI) transition temperature (T ρ ) and the magnetic transition temperature (TC) is observed. Large magnetoresistance (MR) effects with Δρ/ρ of 40% at 12 kOe are obtained in wide temperature ranges. The maximum of the magnetic entropy change peaks at its Curie temperature (TC), far above its MI transition temperature (T ρ ). The large magnetic entropy change (1.4 J/kg.K) is obtained in the sample La2.5-xK0.5+xMn2O 7 + δ (x = 0.35) upon 10 kOe applied magnetic field. DWBA analysis of the inelastic 30-40S(p,p') and 18-22O(p,p') scattering data measured in the inverse kinematics has been performed to determine the isoscalar (δ0) and isovector (δ1) deformation lengths of the 2+1 excitations in the Sulfur and Oxygen isotopes using a compact folding approach. A systematic N-dependence of δ0 and δ1 has been established which shows a link between δ1 and the neutron-shell closure. Strong isovector deformations were found in several cases, e.g., the 2+1 state in 20O where δ1 is nearly three times larger than δ0. These results confirm the relation δ10 anticipated from the core polarization by the valence neutrons in the open-shell (neutron rich) nuclei. The effect of neutron shell closure at N=14 or 16 has been discussed based on the folding model analysis of the inelastic 22O+p scattering data at 46.6 MeV/u measured recently at GANIL.  相似文献

Thin films of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ have been grown on vicinal (001) SrTiO3 substrates by pulsed-laser deposition. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray diffraction reveal well ordered films with the c axis of the film parallel with the c axis of the substrate for miscut angles up to θS≈15°. TEM also reveals the step-like film morphology due to step-flow growth. The in-plane and out-of-plane resistivities are independent of film thickness within the range 20–300 nm and agree quite well with Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ single-crystal data. Measurements of the thermal conductivity (kxx) and the thermal Hall effect (kxy) in high magnetic fields in Y- and Bi-based high-T c superconductors are presented. We describe the experimental technique and test measurements on a simple metal (niobium). In the high-T c superconductors kxx and kxy increase below T c and show a maximum in their temperature dependence. kxx has contributions from phonons and quasiparticle (QP) excitations, whereas kxy is purely electronic. The strong increase of kxy below T c gives direct evidence for a strong enhancement of the QP contribution to the heat current and thus for a strong increase of the QP mean free path. Using kxy and the magnetic field dependence of kxx we separate the electronic thermal conductivity ( k xx el ) of the CuO 2 -planes from the phononic thermal conductivity ( k xx ph ). In YBa2Cu3O 7 - δ k xx el shows a pronounced maximum in the superconducting state. This maximum is much weaker in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O 8 + δ , due to stronger impurity scattering. The maximum of k xx el is strongly suppressed by a magnetic field, which we attribute to the scattering of QPs on vortices. An additional magnetic field independent contribution to the maximum of kxx occurs in YBa2Cu3O 7 - δ , reminiscent of the contribution of the CuO-chains, as determined from the anisotropy in untwined single crystals. Our data analysis reveals that below T c as in the normal state a transport (τ) and a Hall ( ) relaxation time must be distinguished: The inelastic (i.e. temperature dependent) contribution to τ is strongly enhanced in the superconducting state, whereas displays the same temperature dependence as above T c . We determine also the electronic thermal conductivity in the normal state from kxy and the electrical Hall angle. It shows an unusual linear increase with temperature. The magnetic excitations in the antiferromagnetic phase of HoNi2B2C are studied by inelastic neutron scattering on single crystals for the first time. Spectra measured at constant T = 2 K along symmetry directions of the reciprocal space are well explained in terms of crystal electric field (CEF) magnetic excitons within the J = 8 ground state multiplet of Ho3+. Very modest bandwidth with planar energy dispersion describes the magnetic exciton dynamics. A perturbative model approach consisting of the CEF states in the effective exchange mean-field provides a simple but applicable characterization of the experimental observations. The microscopic determination of the relevant exchange parameters is discussed in connection with previous works on the subject. Superconducting SrTiO 3 - δ was obtained by annealing single crystalline SrTiO3 samples in ultra high vacuum. An analysis of the V ( I ) characteristics revealed very small critical currents I c which can be traced back to an unavoidable doping inhomogeneity. R ( T ) curves were measured for a range of magnetic fields B at I I c , thereby probing only the sample regions with the highest doping level. The resulting curves B c2 ( T ) show upward curvature, both at small and strong doping. These results are discussed in the context of bipolaronic and conventional superconductivity with Fermi surface anisotropy. We conclude that the special superconducting properties of SrTiO 3 - δ can be related to its Fermi surface and compare this finding with properties of the recently discovered superconductor MgB2. We solve the problem of a Bose or Fermi gas in d-dimensions trapped by δ ⩽ d mutually perpendicular harmonic oscillator potentials. From the grand potential we derive their thermodynamic functions (internal energy, specific heat, etc.) as well as a generalized density of states. The Bose gas exhibits Bose-Einstein condensation at a nonzero critical temperature T c if and only if d + δ > 2, along with a jump in the specific heat at T c if and only if d + δ > 4. Specific heats for both gas types precisely coincide as functions of temperature when d + δ = 2. The trapped system behaves like an ideal free quantum gas in d + δ dimensions. For δ = 0 we recover all known thermodynamic properties of ideal quantum gases in d dimensions, while in 3D for δ = 1, 2 and 3 one simulates behavior reminiscent of quantum wells, wires anddots, respectively. Good agreement is found between experimental critical temperatures for the trapped boson gases 37 87Rb, 3 7Li, 37 85Rb, 2 4He, 19 41K and the known theoretical expression which is a special case for d = δ = 3, but only moderate agreement for 11 27Na and 1 1H. The magnetic structure of tetragonal insulating YBa2Cu3-xLixOy has been studied as a function of x and y. The Néel temperature and the mean ordered magnetic moment on the Cu2 sites were determined by neutron powder diffraction measurements. The decrease of these two parameters as compared to YBa2Cu3O6 is much stronger for lithium than for zinc substitution. The difference is quantitatively explained by the presence of holes created in the CuO2 planes. These holes arise from the substitution of plane Cu2+ by Li+. We suggest an explanation why such holes are not seen for the same substitution of plane Cu2+ by Li+ in orthorhombic superconducting YBa2Cu3-xLixO 7 - δ . We have studied the temperature dependent resistivity ρ( T ) of La2-xSrxCuO4 epitaxial thin films in the doping range 0.045 ⩽ x ⩽ 0.25 in pulsed magnetic fields up to 50 T. The zero-field resistivity ρ( T ) of these samples in the pseudogap regime, can be scaled onto one single universal curve in a broad temperature range by using a linear transformation of both temperature and resistivity. The high field data ρ( T ) reveal a metal to insulator transition (MIT) at low temperatures, well into the overdoped regime. For samples having k F l < 1, with kF the Fermi wave vector and l the mean free path, this low temperature insulating behavior of the resistivity is described by the variable range hopping conductivity (VRH). For samples with k F l > 1, the divergence follows ρ( T ) ∼ ln (1/ T ) or a power law, depending upon the Sr-content. We further found that the residual conductivity at the minimum in ρ( T ), appearing due to the MIT, follows a linear behavior with respect to the Sr-content. It is argued that the unusual MIT in compounds with k F l > 1, is most probably associated with the pseudogap and the behavior of charge stripes at low temperatures. In recent years insight has been gained into the electronic structure of layered cuprates using angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy. In many of these studies it is assumed that the electron-photon matrix element follows the trends set by the atomic photoionization cross sections and does not influence lineshape, dispersion and the k-dependence of the spectral intensity. In this study using Sr2CuO2Cl2 as an example it will be shown that the electron-photon matrix element can have a strong impact on both strength and shape of a feature in an angle-resolved photoelectron spectrum of a layered cuprate which can strongly affect information on character and the momentum-dependence of the energy and spectral weight of a state deduced from the spectra. The results of this study put an emphasis on the need to employ the whole parameter range of the ARPES method to get reliable information on the spectral function of cuprates for which purpose synchrotron radiation is an uniquely suited tool. The two-channel Anderson lattice model which has SU (2) ⊗ SU (2) symmetry is of relevance to understanding of the magnetic, quadrupolar and superconducting phases in U1-xThxBe13 or Pr based skutterudite compounds such as PrFe4P12 or PrOs4Sb12. Possible unconventional superconducting phases of the model are explored. They are characterized by a composite order parameter comprising of a local magnetic or quadrupolar moment and a triplet conduction electron Cooper-pair. This binding of local degrees of freedom removes the entropy of the non Fermi-liquid normal state. We find superconducting transitions in the intermediate valence regime which are suppressed in the stable moment regime. The gap function is non analytic and odd in frequency: a pseudo-gap develops in the conduction electron density of states which vanishes as |ω| close to ω = 0. In the strong intermediate valent regime, the gap function acquires an additional -dependence. Received 28 February 2002 / Received in final form 18 April 2002 Published online 9 July 2002  相似文献

We study theoretically the effect of impurity scattering in f-wave (or E2u) superconductors. The quasi-particle density of states of f-wave superconductor is very similar to the one for d-wave superconductor as in hole-doped high T c cuprates. Also in spite of anisotropy in Δ( ), both the reduced superfluid density and the reduced electronic thermal conductivity is completely isotropic. Received 11 October 2000  相似文献

We present a comprehensive analysis of the optical constants of the two-dimensional dichalcogenide materials 2 H - TaSe 2 and 2 H - NbSe 2 , in an attempt to address the physics of two-dimensional correlated systems. The title compounds were studied over several decades in frequency, from the far-infrared to the ultraviolet. Measurements with linearly polarized light have allowed us to obtain both the in-plane and out-of-plane components of the conductivity tensor. Although the electromagnetic response of dichalcogenides is strongly anisotropic, both the in-plane and out-of-plane components of the conductivity tensor share many common features, including the presence of a well-defined metallic component, as well as a “mid-infrared band”. We discuss the implications of these results in the context of the spectroscopic results of other classes of low-dimensional conductors such as the high-temperature superconducting cuprates. In particular, the analysis of the redistribution of the spectral weight as a function of temperature, as well as the behavior of the quasiparticles relaxation rate, points to significant distinctions between the charge dynamics of dichalcogenides and other classes of low dimensional conductors. Instantaneous in-plane Cu-O bond distribution in the Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+β (Bi2212) superconductor has been investigated by high k-resolution Cu K-edge extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) measured with polarized vector parallel to the two orthogonal Cu-O-Cu bonds of the CuO2 square plane. The results show an anisotropic Cu-O distribution in the two directions and provide further information on the local atomic displacements in the lattice-charge stripes. Received 5 June 2000  相似文献

Electron scattering Coulomb form factors for the single-particle quadrupole transitions in p-shell and sd-shell nuclei have been studied. Core polarization effects are included through a microscopic theory that includes excitations from the core orbits up to higher orbits with 2ω excitations. The modified surface delta interaction is adopted as a residual interaction. The results are discussed for the ( 1p 1/2 -1↦1p 3/2 -1) proton transition in 15N, ( 1d 5/2↦2s 1/2) neutron transition in 17O and ( 1d 3/2 -1↦2s 1/2 -1) proton transition in 39K. The inclusion of core polarization effects modifies the form factors markedly and describes the experimental data very well in both the absolute strength and the momentum transfer dependence. The absorption spectrum of NaAr has been investigated with high resolution using a supersonic beam of molecules and a tunable dye laser. About 3 300 absorption lines due to the transition A 2 Π ← X and B 2 Σ ← X have been observed. In addition, we observed the spectral distribution of the fluorescence for a particular absorption line. From all experimental data the X 2 Σ + interaction potential has been deduced in a fully quantum-mechanical method of approach. The potential is given in terms of an analytical Hartree-Fock-Dispersion function. For the equilibrium parameters of the X state we get R e = 5.01(1) ? and D e = 41.6(2) cm -1 . A detailed investigation of the Fourier space of several Al-Pd-Mn samples with composition Al-72.6 at. %, Pd-22.9 at. %, Mn-4.5 at. % is reported. In the phase diagram of the Al-Pd-Mn ternary alloy, this composition corresponds to the so-called ξ' phase which was described as an icosahedral quasicrystalline approximant. By re-examining the Fourier space by means of X-ray diffraction (powder patterns and single crystal precession patterns), complex structures in close relation with the ξ'-phase have been observed. These long-range order complex structures are described as resulting from a periodic perturbation of the ξ' structure along the c direction. Two states with periodicities c (3 + τ) and c (5 + τ) have been observed in this study (τ: golden mean). Structural models based on periodic arrangements of “defects” layers separating layers of phase are proposed. These two states are certainly intermediate states between the phase and the metastable decagonal quasicrystalline phase. Solid solutions, Bi2Sr2-x La x CuO6+ withx< 1.3 and Bi2Sr2-x La x CaCu2O8+ with probablyx<1.3 are reported. Both solid solutions show considerable nonlinear changes in the unit cell dimensions and a change in the modulation vector from 4.7b to 3.5b forx=0 andx=1.2, respectively. It is shown that Bi2Sr2-x La x CaCu2O8+ shows sometimes the absence of the 0.54 nm period alonga, whereas the modulation remains, suggesting both features not to be correlated. The investigation of the solid solution Bi2Sr2-x La x CaCu2O8+ with probablyx<1.3 are reported. Both solid solutions show considerable nonlinear changes in the unit cell dimensions and a change in the modulation vector from 4.7b to 3.5b forx=0 andx=1.2, respectively. It is shown that Bi2Sr2-x La x CaCu2O8+ is severly hampered by the presence of the n=0 structure in the reaction product when one starts with stoichiometric mixture. This can be overcome by adding extra Ca and heating directly just below the melting point. However addition of Ca to the mixture leads to changes in the solid solution range, because Ca can replace Sr.  相似文献
