We describe the structure of spaces of continuous step functions over GO-spaces. We establish a relation between the Dedekind completion of a GO-space L and properties of the space of continuous functions from L to 2 with finitely many steps. We use the established relation to prove that a countably compact GO-space L has Lindelöf Cp(L) iff the Dedekind remainder of L is Lindelöf and every compact subspace of L is metrizable. Or equivalently, a countably compact GO-space L has Lindelöf Cp(L) iff every compact subspace of L is metrizable and a Gδ-set in L. Other results are obtained.  相似文献

A study is made of the natural function which maps each point x of a space X to the evaluation function ex:YxY defined by ex(?)=?(x). We characterize the spaces X for which the space Cp(X) of real valued continuous functions with the topology of pointwise convergence has local properties related to the preservation of countable tightness or the Fréchet property in products. In particular, we use the methods developed to construct an uncountable subset W of the real line such that the product of Cp(W) with any strongly Fréchet space is Fréchet. Let Cp(X) be the space of all continuous real-valued functions on a space X, with the topology of pointwise convergence. In this paper we show that Cp(X) is not domain representable unless X is discrete for a class of spaces that includes all pseudo-radial spaces and all generalized ordered spaces. This is a first step toward our conjecture that if X is completely regular, then Cp(X) is domain representable if and only if X is discrete. In addition, we show that if X is completely regular and pseudonormal, then in the function space Cp(X), Oxtoby's pseudocompleteness, strong Choquet completeness, and weak Choquet completeness are all equivalent to the statement “every countable subset of X is closed”.  相似文献

It is shown that the space Cp(τω) is a D-space for any ordinal number τ, where . This conclusion gives a positive answer to R.Z. Buzyakova's question. We also prove that another special example of Lindelöf space is a D-space. We discuss the D-property of spaces with point-countable weak bases. We prove that if a space X has a point-countable weak base, then X is a D-space. By this conclusion and one of T. Hoshina's conclusion, we have that if X is a countably compact space with a point-countable weak base, then X is a compact metrizable space. In the last part, we show that if a space X is a finite union of θ-refinable spaces, then X is a αD-space.  相似文献

We present a study of two versions of the point-picking game defined by Berner and Juhasz. Given a space X there are two rivals O and P who take turns playing on X. In the n-th round Player O takes a non-empty open subset Un of the space X and P responds by choosing a point xnUn. After ω-many moves are completed, the family is called the play of the game. In the CD-game CD(X) Player P wins if the set is closed and discrete. Otherwise O is the winner. In the CL-game CL(X, p), where the point pX is fixed, Player O wins if contains p in its closure. If , then P is declared to be the winner. We show that in spaces Cp(X) both CD-game and CL-game are equivalent to Gruenhage’s W-game for Player O. If , then Player O has a winning strategy in CL(X, p). The converse is not always true. However, if X is separable or compact of π-weight ≤ ω1, then existence of a winning strategy for O in CL(X, p) is equivalent to .  相似文献

For a Tychonoff space X, we denote by Cλ(X) the space of all real-valued continuous functions on X with set-open topology. In this paper, we study the topological-algebraic properties of Cλ(X). Our main results state that (1) Cλ(X) is a topological vector space (a topological group) iff λ is a family of C-compact sets and Cλ(X)=Cλ(X), where λ consists of all C-compact subsets of every set of λ. In particular, if Cλ(X) is a topological group, then the set-open topology coincides with the topology of uniform convergence on a family λ; (2) a topological group Cλ(X) is ω-narrow iff λ is a family of metrizable compact subsets of X.  相似文献

Real dicompactifications and dicompactifications of a ditopological texture space are defined and studied.Section 2 considers nearly plain extensions of a ditopological texture space (S,S,τ,κ). Spaces that possess a nearly plain extension are shown to have a property, called here almost plainness, that is weaker than that of near plainness, but which shares with near plainness the existence of an associated plain space (Sp,Sp,τp,κp). Some properties of the class of almost plain ditopological texture spaces are established, a notion of canonical nearly plain extension of an almost plain ditopological texture space, projective and injective pre-orderings and the concept of isomorphism on such canonical nearly plain extensions are defined.In Section 3 the notion of nearly plain extension is specialized to that of real dicompactification and dicompactification, and the spaces that have such extensions are characterized. Working in terms of a specific representation of the canonical real dicompactifications and dicompactifications of a completely biregular bi-T2 almost plain ditopological space, the interrelation between sub-T-lattices of the T-lattice of ω-preserving bicontinuous real mappings on the associated plain space and the real dicompactifications and dicompactifications are investigated. In particular generalizations of the Hewitt realcompactification and Stone-?ech compactification are obtained, and shown to be reflectors for the appropriate categories.  相似文献

The note contains two examples of function spaces C p (X) endowed with the pointwise topology. The first example is C p (M), M being a planar continuum, such that C p (M) m is uniformly homeomorphic to C p (M) n if and only if m = n. This strengthens earlier results concerning linear homeomorphisms. The second example is a non-Lindelöf function space C p (X), where X is a monolithic perfectly normal compact space all linearly orderable closed subspaces of which are metrizable. This example is obtained under the additional set-theoretical axiom . This solves a problem of Arhangelskiĭ.  相似文献

We prove that every Borel bimeasurable mapping can be decomposed to a σ-discrete family of extended Borel isomorphisms and a mapping with a σ-discrete range. We get a new proof of a result containing the Purves and the Luzin-Novikov theorems as a by-product. Assuming an extra assumption on f, or that Fleissner's axiom (SCω2) holds, we characterize extended Borel bimeasurable mappings as those extended Borel measurable ones which may be decomposed to countably many extended Borel isomorphisms and a mapping with a σ-discrete range.  相似文献
