We consider an extension of Kuramoto’s model of coupled phase oscillators where oscillator pairs interact with different strengths. When the coupling coefficient of each pair can be separated into two different factors, each one associated to an oscillator, Kuramoto’s theory for the transition to synchronization can be explicitly generalized, and the effects of coupling heterogeneity on synchronized states can be analytically studied. The two factors are respectively interpreted as the weight of the contribution of each oscillator to the mean field, and the coupling of each oscillator to that field. We explicitly analyze the effects of correlations between those weights and couplings, and show that synchronization can be completely inhibited when they are strongly anti-correlated. Numerical results validate the theory, but suggest that finite-size effect are relevant to the collective dynamics close to the synchronization transition, where oscillators become entrained in synchronized frequency clusters.  相似文献

The dissipative dynamics of a system of Fermions is described in the framework of a resonance model—the quantum master equation describes two-body correlations of the system with the environment particles. This equation, with microscopic coefficients depending on the exactly known two-body potential between the system and the environment particles, is discussed in comparison with other master equations, obtained on axiomatic grounds, or derived from a coupling with an environment of harmonic oscillators without altering the quantum conditions. The asymptotic solution is in accordance with the detailed balance principle, and with other generally accepted conditions satisfied during the whole time-evolution: Pauli master equations for the diagonal elements of the density matrix, and damped Bloch–Feynman equations for the non-diagonal ones, that we call dynamical detailed balance. For a harmonic oscillator coupled with the electromagnetic field through dipole interaction, a master equation with transition operators between successive levels is obtained. As an application, the decay width of a quantum logic gate is calculated.  相似文献

By using a continuum of oscillators as a reservoir, we present a classical and a quantum-mechanical treatment for the Higgs model in the presence of dissipation. In this base, a fully canonical approach is used to quantize the damped particle on a spherical surface under the action of a conservative central force, the conjugate momentum is defined and the Hamiltonian is derived. The equations of motion for the canonical variables and in turn the Langevin equation are obtained. It is shown that the dynamics of the dissipative Higgs model is not only determined by a projected susceptibility tensor that obeys the Kramers–Kronig relations and a noise operator but also the curvature of the spherical space. Due to the gnomonic projection from the spherical space to the tangent plane, the projected susceptibility displays anisotropic character in the tangent plane. To illuminate the effect of dissipation on the Higgs model, the transition rate between energy levels of the particle on the sphere is calculated. It is seen that appreciable probabilities for transition are possible only if the transition and reservoir’s oscillators frequencies to be nearly on resonance.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the dissipative quantum dynamics of a harmonic oscillator in the presence a deformed bath by considering the Lamb shift term. The deformed bath is modelled by a collection of deformed quantum harmonic oscillators as a generalization of Hopfield model. The Langevin equation for both the photon number and the fluctuation spectrum under the Weisskopf–Winger approximation are obtained and discussed.  相似文献

Classical transition probabilities are derived for the exchange of energy between sets of weakly coupled harmonic oscillators, subject to the assumption that energy is ‘statistically redistributed’ in all collisions. In the case of single oscillators the result is particularly simple and an explicit solution of the relaxation equation for such a system is derived. A ‘mean first passage time’ for the dissociation of truncated harmonic oscillators is also obtained using Widom's theory and the limiting case of equilibrium reaction is discussed.

The same approach is sketched briefly for the case of quantized systems in which statistical redistribution of energy is allowed.

Within the general scope of the model, these transition probabilities represent the most efficient conceivable coupling between system and heat bath.  相似文献

The generalized Langevin equation (GLE) satisfied by harmonic oscillators coupled to a heat bath is transformed into an equality between the rate of energy dissipation and an extent of violation of the fluctuation-response relation. Its significance is discussed. When the system reaches a stationary state and a single harmonic oscillator’s frequency is set to zero, the equality reduces to a fluctuation-dissipation relation, which is slightly different from the usual Kubo’s formalism.  相似文献

Quantum field theory of a damped vibrating string as the simplest dissipative scalar field is investigated by it's coupling to an infinite number of Klein–Gordon fields as the environment by introducing a minimal coupling method. Heisenberg equation containing a dissipative term proportional to the velocity is obtained for a special choice of coupling function and quantum dynamics for such a dissipative system is investigated. Some kinematical relations is calculated by tracing out the environment degrees of freedom. The rate of energy flowing between the system and it's environment is obtained.  相似文献

We try to derive some explicit equations for predicting the laws which govern the evolution of different parameters of a propagating optical pulse in a nonlinear medium under the combined influence of two-photon absorption and gain dispersion. Using the generalized Euler-Lagrange equation, the dynamics of different pulse parameters are generated. The Rayleigh’s dissipation function is incorporated in order to take recourse to the dissipative part, with an analogy with the non-conservative frictional problem in classical mechanics. It appears from the study that the influence of the dissipative part can well be explained using the proposed model. The analytically predicted results are compared with the numerical data obtained from direct simulation of the Ginzburg-Landau equation and the results are found to be quite satisfactory, supporting the prediction.  相似文献

Complete synchronization of Kuramoto oscillators with finite inertia   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We present an approach based on Gronwall’s inequalities for the asymptotic complete phase-frequency synchronization of Kuramoto oscillators with finite inertia. For given finite inertia and coupling strength, we present admissible classes of initial configurations and natural frequency distributions, which lead to the complete phase-frequency synchronization asymptotically. For this, we explicitly identify invariant regions for the Kuramoto flow, and derive second-order Gronwall’s inequalities for the evolution of phase and frequency diameters. Our detailed time-decay estimates for phase and frequency diameters are independent of the number of oscillators. We also compare our analytical results with numerical simulations.  相似文献

We analytically and numerically show that the Hillery-Zubairy’s entanglement criterion is satisfied both below and above the threshold of coupled non-degenerate optical parametric oscillators (NOPOs) with strong nonlinear gain saturation and dissipative linear coupling. We investigated two cases: for large pump mode dissipation, below-threshold entanglement is possible only when the parametric interaction has an enough detuning among the signal, idler, and pump photon modes. On the other hand, for a large dissipative coupling, below-threshold entanglement is possible even when there is no detuning in the parametric interaction. In both cases, a non-Gaussian state entanglement criterion is satisfied even at the threshold. Recent progress in nano-photonic devices might make it possible to experimentally demonstrate this phase transition in a coherent XY machine with quantum correlations.  相似文献

A statistical mechanical theory is presented for the self-organization of a macroscopic oscillation with the presence of external fluctuations in a system of Van der Pol oscillators coupled through dissipative interactions. Starting from Langevin equations for the Van der Pol oscillators, the static and dynamic characteristics are studied. The threshold condition is given by the relative size between the fluctuation and the interaction. The transitions between synchronous and asynchronous phases are well discussed by a Landau-type equation. The steady state value of the order parameter and the onset time are compared between the theory and the computer experiments and a good agreement is obtained.  相似文献

For a system of charged Fermions interacting with an electromagnetic field, we derive a non-Markovian master equation in the second-order approximation of the weak dissipative coupling. A complex dissipative environment including Fermions, Bosons and the free electromagnetic field is taken into account. Besides the well-known Markovian term of Lindblad’s form, that describes the decay of the system by correlated transitions of the system and environment particles, this equation includes new Markovian and non-Markovian terms proceeding from the fluctuations of the self-consistent field of the environment. These terms describe fluctuations of the energy levels, transitions among these levels stimulated by the fluctuations of the self-consistent field of the environment, and the influence of the time-evolution of the environment on the system dynamics. We derive a complementary master equation describing the environment dynamics correlated with the dynamics of the system. As an application, we obtain non-Markovian Maxwell-Bloch equations and calculate the absorption spectrum of a field propagation mode transversing an array of two-level quantum dots.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the global intermittent pinning controllability of networks of coupled chaotic oscillators. We explore the feasibility of the recently presented node-to-node pinning control strategy through experiments on Chua’s circuits. We focus on the case of two peer-to-peer coupled Chua’s circuits and we build a novel test-bed platform comprised of three inductorless Chua’s oscillators. We investigate the effect of a variety of design parameters on synchronization performance, including the coupling strength between the oscillators, the control gains, and the switching frequency of node-to-node pinning control. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of this novel pinning control strategy in rapidly taming chaotic oscillator dynamics onto desired reference trajectories while minimizing the overall control effort and the number of pinned network sites. From an analytical standpoint, we present sufficient conditions for global node-to-node pinning controllability and we estimate the maximum switching period for network controllability by adapting and integrating available results on Lyapunov stability theory and partial averaging techniques.  相似文献

Although modifications of the Kuramoto model have been the subject of extensive research, the model itself is not yet fully understood. We offer several results and observations, some analytic, others through simulations. We derive a sufficient condition for the existence of a solution exhibiting partial entrainment with respect to a given subset of oscillators; the result also implies persistence of the entrainment behavior under perturbations. The critical values of the coupling strength, defining the transitions between different forms of partial entrainment, are predicted by an analytical approximation, based on the fact that oscillators with large differences in their natural frequencies have little influence on each other’s entrainment behavior; the predictions agree with the actual values, obtained by simulations. We indicate (by simulations) that entrainment can disappear with increasing coupling strength, and that, in arrays of Josephson junctions, a similar phenomenon can be observed, where it is also possible that a junction leaving one entrained subset joins another entrained subset.  相似文献

In this paper we analyze the double Caldeira-Leggett model: the path integral approach to two interacting dissipative harmonic oscillators. Assuming a general form of the interaction between the oscillators, we consider two different situations: (i) when each oscillator is coupled to its own reservoir, and (ii) when both oscillators are coupled to a common reservoir. After deriving and solving the master equation for each case, we analyze the decoherence process of particular entanglements in the positional space of both oscillators. To analyze the decoherence mechanism we have derived a general decay function, for the off-diagonal peaks of the density matrix, which applies both to common and separate reservoirs. We have also identified the expected interaction between the two dissipative oscillators induced by their common reservoir. Such a reservoir-induced interaction, which gives rise to interesting collective damping effects, such as the emergence of relaxation- and decoherence-free subspaces, is shown to be blurred by the high-temperature regime considered in this study. However, we find that different interactions between the dissipative oscillators, described by rotating or counter-rotating terms, result in different decay rates for the interference terms of the density matrix.  相似文献

In spatially extended convective systems, the reflection symmetry breaking induced by drift effects leads to a striking nonlinear effect that drastically affects the formation and stability of dissipative solitons in optical parametric oscillators. The phenomenon of nonlinear-induced convection dynamics is revealed using a model of the complex quintic Ginzburg-Landau equation with nonlinear gradient terms in it. Mechanisms leading to stabilization of dissipative solitons by convection are singled out. The predictions are in very good agreement with numerical solutions found from the governing equations of the optical parametric oscillators.  相似文献

Relations between running coupling constants, which are exact to a number of loops fixed in advance, are derived. The corresponding effective lagrangians are studied, in particular their confining character. Contrary to Adler's conjecture, only the lagrangian corresponding to the one-loop-exact running coupling constant seems to have the desired properties leading to quark confinement.  相似文献

Quantum Brownian motion in the strong friction limit is studied based on the exact path integral formulation of dissipative systems. In this limit the time-nonlocal reduced dynamics can be cast into an effective equation of motion, the quantum Smoluchowski equation. For strongly condensed phase environments it plays a similar role as master equations in the weak coupling range. Applications for chemical, mesoscopic, and soft matter systems are discussed and reveal the substantial role of quantum fluctuations.  相似文献

The time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau equations for rotating superconducting alloys with paramagnetic impurities are derived. The simultaneous occurrence of a homogeneous magnetic field (London moment) and an inhomogeneous electric field, created by inertial forces, is taken into account. The equation describing constant electric field penetration into a rotating superconductor is derived. The dissipative function is obtained as well.  相似文献
