We have used measurements of the absolute intensity of diffuse X-ray scattering to extract the interfacial tension of a buried polymer/polymer interface. Diffuse scattering was excited by an X-ray standing wave whose phase was adjusted to have a high intensity at the polymer/polymer interface and simultaneously a node at the polymer/air interface. This method permits the capillary-wave-induced roughness of the interface, and hence the interfacial tension, to be measured independently of the polymer/polymer interdiffusion.  相似文献

Interfacial covalent bonding is an effective approach to increase the electrical resistance of a polymer–particle composite to charge flow and dielectric breakdown. A bifunctional tether reagent bonded to an inorganic oxide particle surface assists with particle dispersion within a thermosetting epoxy polymer matrix but then also reacts covalently with the polymer matrix. Bonding the particle surface to the polymer matrix resulted in a composite that maintained the pure polymer glass transition temperature, compared to modified or unmodified particle dispersions that lacked covalent bonding to the polymer matrix, which depressed the polymer glass transition to lower temperatures. The added interfacial control, directly bonding the particle to the polymer matrix, appears to prevent conductive percolation across particle surfaces that results in a reduced Maxwell–Wagner relaxation of the polymer–particle composite and a reduced sensitivity to a dielectric breakdown event. The inclusion of 5 vol% particles of higher permittivity produces a composite of enhanced dielectric constant and, with surface modification to permit surface cross-linking into the polymer, a polymer–particle composite with a Weibull E 0 dielectric breakdown strength of 25% greater than that of the pure polymer resulted. The estimated energy density for the cross-linked interface composite was improved 260% compared to the polymer alone, 560% better than a polymer–particle composite synthesized using bare particles, and 80% better than a polymer–particle composite utilizing bare particles with a dispersant.  相似文献

In this paper, we review different types of polymer electrolytes, recent approaches and technological applications of polymer electrolytes. The report first discusses the characteristics, advantages and applications for three types of polymer electrolytes: gel polymer electrolytes, solid polymer electrolytes and composite polymer electrolytes. Next, we discuss the features and performance of different polymer hosts based on some important and recently published literature. Recent progress of some approaches used in improving the performance of the polymer electrolytes is highlighted. The last part of the review includes the technological applications of some electrical energy storing/converting devices: electrochemical capacitors, batteries, fuel cells and dye-sensitized solar cells. It is also stressed that the technological advancement in the polymer electrolytes plays a pivotal role in the development of energy storing/converting systems.  相似文献

Concretes are used for shielding in nuclear power plants. Beta radiation is emitted during the nuclear reactions. This beta radiation interacts with the concrete and results in secondary radiation such as bremsstrahlung. Shielding parameters of beta-induced bremsstrahlung in concretes are important in the field of radiation protection. We have evaluated the cross section, yield, intensity and dose rate of beta-induced bremsstrahlung by pure beta nuclides of end point energy ranges from 0.4 to 5?MeV in some polymer-based concretes such as sulfur polymer concrete, barium polymer concrete, calcium polymer concrete, fluorine polymer concrete, chlorine polymer concrete and germanium polymer concrete. We have compared the shielding properties among the studied polymer concretes. The efficiency, intensity and dose rate of bremsstrahlung increases with a maximum energy of beta nuclide and modified atomic number of the concrete. From the detailed study, it is clear that the barium polymer concrete is having large bremsstrahlung dose rate and specific bremsstrahlung constant values than the other studied polymer concretes. This means barium polymer concrete is a good absorber of bremsstrahlung radiation than the other studied polymer concretes.  相似文献

制备了高分子均匀溶液和梯度溶液,并在声管中测试其声衰减性能.实验结果表明,高分子梯度溶液的声衰减效果明显优于(即大于)相应的均匀溶液的声衰减.根据连续分层介质中声波传播理论建立了计算高分子梯度溶液声衰减的数学模型.计算结果与实验结果一致.由实验和理论分析结果得出了高分子梯度溶液的梯度吸声机理,即多次反射、多次吸收,最终将声能转化为热能.  相似文献

We study the translocation process of a polymer in the absence of external fields for various pore diameters b and membrane thickness L. The polymer performs Rouse and reptation dynamics. The mean translocation time (tau(t)) that the polymer needs to escape from a cell and the mean dwell time (tau(d)) that the polymer spends in the pore during the translocation process obey scaling relations in terms of the polymer length N, L, and b/R(g), where R(g) is the radius of gyration for the polymer. We explain these relations using simple arguments based on polymer dynamics and the equilibrium properties of polymers.  相似文献

The results of investigating the effect of nanosize modifiers of a polymer matrix on the nanostructural self-organization of polymer composites and dynamic adaptation of metal–polymer tribosystems, which considerably affect the wear resistance of polymer composite materials, have been analyzed. It has been shown that the physicochemical nanostructural self-organization processes are developed in metal–polymer tribosystems with the formation of thermotropic liquid-crystal structures of the polymer matrix, followed by the transition of the system to the stationary state with a negative feedback that ensures dynamic adaptation of the tribosystem to given operating conditions.  相似文献

In this paper, recent progress in the investigation of photosensitivities of polymer optical fibers and the development of polymer optical fiber grating is reported. Photosensitivities in various polymer fibers, including doped and undoped, multimode and single-mode polymer fibers, have been experimentally characterized and evaluated for fiber grating application. In particular, the wavelength dependence of material absorption and photosensitivity has been found essential to the fabrication of polymer optical fiber grating. Based on the results of photosensitivity research, polymer optical fiber gratings have been successfully fabricated. More importantly, polymer optical fiber grating has been demonstrated highly tunable, with a tuning range more than 70 nm. The unique feature of high tunability in polymer optical fiber grating has great potential in various applications including optical fiber WDM systems and fiber sensor systems. Several important issues that remain to be investigated will also be discussed.  相似文献

A facile and efficient approach is developed for the fabrication of asymmetric non‐spherical polymer particle arrays. A specific amount of solvent is provided to interact with the spherical polymer particles to intensify the segmental mobility, thus suppressing the viscosity and the glass transition temperature of the polymer particles. The spherical polymer particles in the rubbery state are deformed into non‐spherical particle arrays at the gas/liquid interface. The upper parts of the polymer particles that protrude out of the liquid phase undergo deformation by interfacial tensions at the three‐phase contact line, allowing the formation of a ridge of polymer with a protrusion on the top surface. Simultaneously, the lower parts of the polymer particles submerged under the liquid phase are subjected to enormous surface tension at the contact points, leading to a non‐linear coalescence behavior of the neighboring polymer particles.  相似文献

This paper presents a simple and versatile patterning method to fabricate polymer patterns with different morphologies and sizes by utilizing soft molding. When a patterned elastomeric stamp was placed on the polymer solution dropped on the substrate, the polymer solution will fill into the grooves of the stamp under capillary force. Through the modulation of the polymer concentration, it is possible to produce highly regular and reproducible polymer patterns with tunable morphologies and sizes using the same microscopic patterned mold. The gained polymer patterns can be further transferred to produce second-generation stamps.  相似文献

We report the effect of an anisotropic polymer network formed from an achiral photoreactive monomer in a short-pitch chiral SmC* phase on the distortion and the unwinding of the helical structure of the ferroelectric phase. The electro-optical behaviour and ferroelectric properties were experimentally determined for films containing various polymer concentrations. The critical field, Eu, for the transition from the distorted structure to the homogeneous state was measured as a function of polymer concentration. A linear increase of Eu versus polymer concentration was observed, showing that the helical structure of the short-pitch SmC* phase was stabilized by the polymer network. This behaviour was expected to be a consequence of the increase of the apparent elastic constants of the ferroelectric liquid crystal stabilized by the anisotropic polymer network films. The polymer network morphology was investigated using atomic-force microscopy, revealing a twisted structure of the polymer fibers. This twisted structure was transferred onto a polymer network during the polymerization process within a short-pitch SmC* phase. The increase of the apparent elasticity can then be interpreted by a strong interaction between polymer network and the liquid-crystal molecules. From our experimental data, the coupling coefficient, Wp, characterizing this interaction was evaluated for all studied polymer concentrations.  相似文献

A density functional theory for colloid–polymer mixtures based on the weighted-density approximation has been developed to investigate the depletion effects acting between two colloids immersed in a bath of polymers and the depletion effects for a colloid near a planar hard wall. The theoretical results for the polymer-induced depletion interactions and the local polymer density distributions are in good agreement with the computer simulations. The calculation shows that the depletion interaction for a colloid near a planar hard wall is much stronger than that between two colloids in a polymer solution because of the strong confinement effect. The behaviour of the depletion interactions has been analysed as a function of the polymer density, the polymer chain length, and the colloid/polymer size ratio. Strong depletion effects appear in short-chain systems and with large colloid/polymer size ratios.  相似文献

By using V-prism refractometer, the refractive indices of a polyetherketone (PEK-c) guest–host polymer system were measured with the polymer in solutions. The Lorenz–Lorentz local field formalism was used in the calculation of the refractive indices of the polymers from the measured indices of the polymer solutions and the pure solvent by using V-prism refractometer. The refractive index dispersions of the polymers were obtained by fitting the measured indices of the polymers to Sellmeyer equation. The method allows for an accuracy in index of 0.7% in the determination of the polymer indices. In addition, a large difference between the indices of the polymer and the solvent, and a higher polymer volume fraction in the measured polymer solution are favorable for a high accuracy.  相似文献

The migration of a polaron at polymer/polymer interface is believed to be of fundamental importance for the transport and light-emitting properties of conjugated polymer-based light emitting diodes. Based on the one- dimensional tight-binding Su-Schrieffer-Heeger (SSH) model, we have investigated polaron dynamics in a one- dimensional polymer/polymer system by using a nonadiabatic evolution method. In particular, we focus on how a polaron migrates through the conjugated polymer/polymer interface in the presence of external electric field. The results show that the migration of polaron at the interface depends sensitively on the hopping integrals, the potential barrier induced by the energy mismatch, and the strength of applied electric field which increases the polaron kinetic energy.  相似文献

采用分子印迹技术合成了对有机磷农药久效磷有高度选择性的聚合物,通过1H NMR和紫外光谱研究了印迹聚合物的结合机理和识别特性。结果表明,该聚合物通过协同氢键作用形成1∶2型氢键配合物专一地结合久效磷。聚合物红外光谱研究表明,聚合物表面存在可与印迹分子相互作用的官能团。  相似文献

在自然界中, 螺旋结构广泛存在. 在熵的驱动下, 高分子链能在某些特殊情形下形成螺旋结构. 采用分子动力学方法研究了高分子链诱导纳米棒的自组装行为, 发现纳米棒/高分子链体系的构象与纳米棒的数量、高分子链的刚性等密切相关. 当纳米棒与高分子链之间存在适度吸附能时, 纳米棒能够形成三种完全不同的构象, 特别是在半刚性高分子链诱导下纳米棒能够形成线型排列. 研究结果对新型材料制备具有一定指导意义.  相似文献
