Second-harmonic generation (SHG) in atmospheric-pressure air is experimentally studied using single focused linear-polarized Ti:sapphire intense femtosecond laser pulses at 810 nm. The efficiency of SHG is found to reach a maximum at the optical breakdown threshold of ≈2.9×1014 W/cm2. The spectral distribution and polarization property of the second harmonic are investigated. The contribution to SHG from electric-field-induced third-order mixing plays the main role even after the optical breakdown had occurred. Dielectric-barrier (silent) discharges are ideally suited for efficient excitation of high-intensity UV radiation from excimers. The molecular continuum of xenon at 172 nm could be obtained with an efficiency of close to 10%. Model calculations for excimer formation and UV efficiencies in such discharges are presented. The possibility of obtaining many other wavelengths (e.g. KrF* at 248 nm and XeCl* at 308 nm) and the variety of conceivable geometries (plane or cylindrical) makes this new UV source an attractive choice for many photophysical and photochemical applications.  相似文献

Single-shot formaldehyde laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) imaging measurements in a technical scale turbulent flame have been obtained using XeF excimer laser excitation in the ?1A2-˜X1A1 transition at 353.2 nm. Measurements have been carried out in a 150 kW natural gas swirl burner where formaldehyde distribution fields have the potential, in combination with OH concentration fields, to visualize the heat release distribution and therefore give an optimal visualization of flame-front positions. The extended areas where formaldehyde was detected in the swirl flame indicates the presence of low temperature chemistry in preheated gas pockets before ignition. Experimental results pertaining to 1 ps pulse-width filaments at 248 nm are reviewed. The theoretical studies presented in this paper show that scaling those filaments to ns pulse-widths should enable us to trap up to 1 J in a single channel. We will show how the use of an aerodynamic window can lead to applications such as laser-induced lightning and high-aspect-ratio hole drilling. This paper presents experimental evidence that using the KrF excimer laser for quantitative laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) studies of the OH A-X (3,0) system is highly problematic if the effects of both photobleaching and photochemistry are not included for laser spectral irradiances greater than 20 MW/cm2 cm-1. Pump-probe and time-resolved measurements of the OH LIF signal in an atmospheric pressure, premixed CH4-air flame at low- and high-laser-spectral-irradiance conditions show that a significant amount of OH is produced from photofragments resulting from the simultaneous 2-photon predissociation of H2O molecules in the C-X system. A 5+2-level rate-equation model that includes the effects of both photobleaching and photochemical OH production is shown to satisfactorily predict the data using a single adjustable parameter given by the effective, spectrally integrated 2-photon cross-section of H2O near 248 nm. The time-integrated OH LIF signal was found to depend on both the laser spectral irradiance and the local concentration of H2O. Additionally, use of the KrF excimer laser for 2-line rotational thermometry can produce temperature errors as great as +550 K at high laser-pulse energies. The fabrication of deep grooves with a high aspect ratio in poly-methylmethacrylate using excimer laser radiation (248 nm) and a cylindric lens has been investigated. The form of the grooves and their dimensions are evaluated with respect to the recording parameters. The patterns and their widths and depths may be adapted in a wide range depending on the particular application. As an example grooves for coupling monomode optical silica fibers were fabricated. Simulations were performed in order to explain the pattern formation. In a simple model the thermo-optic etching process may be simulated using a Gaussian-shaped laser beam and the FDBPM approach. The influence of prepulses on the conversion efficiency (CE) of laser radiation into 13 nm extreme ultraviolet (EUV) radiation, resulting from lithium-like oxygen ions from O20 μm water droplets, was investigated. The laser pulse durations in the experiment ranged from 200 fs to 120 ps. Applying prepulses preceding the main pulse at various delays of up to 11 ns, it was shown that the CE increases differently for each measured pulse duration. The strongest dependence on the introduction of a prepulse was observed for 2 ps laser pulses with a 20 mJ laser pulse energy. The EUV CE was improved by a factor of 15 by the introduction of a prepulse. Calculations on the atomic physics of oxygen ions and simulations of the laser–plasma interaction revealed the influence of the prepulse on the EUV yield. 4 , O2 and N2 in a discharge-excited ArF-excimer laser. Measured characteristics include laser pulse energy, small-signal gain, and laser spectrum. Measurement results indicate that laser pulse energy degradation for such impurities (<100 ppm) is mainly due to optical absorption. It has also been found that for O2 contaminants laser pulse energy degradation is strongly dependent on operational repetition rates; at higher repetition rates, an increased concentration of O2 impurities results in a reduced small-signal gain and a consequent decline in laser pulse energy. 利用一维辐射流体力学程序MULTI数值模拟研究了功率为1014Wcm2、脉冲宽度为300ps、波长为0.44μm的强激光辐照平面Au靶时产生X射线的过程,给出了X射线转换效率和能谱分布.通过将靶物质划分为对所产生的X射线光学薄的转化区和光学厚的再发射区,得到了作为黑体辐射热源的最佳靶厚度,并给出了辐射加热靶所产生的等离子体的密度和温度的空间分布. 关键词: 辐射流体力学 激光等离子体 X射线转换 辐射热波  相似文献

Laser removal of small copper particles from silicon wafer surfaces was carried out using Nd:YAG laser radiation from near-infrared (1064 nm) through visible (532 nm) to ultraviolet (266 nm). It has been found that both 266 nm and 532 nm are successful in removing the particles from the surface whereas 1064 nm was shown to be ineffective in the removal of particles. The damage-threshold laser fluence at 266 nm was much higher than other wavelengths which provides a much wider regime for safe cleaning of the surface without causing any substrate damage. The cleaning efficiency was increased with a shorter wavelength. The effect of laser wavelength in the removal process is discussed by considering the adhesion force of the particle on the surface and the laser-induced cleaning forces for the three wavelengths.  阐述了激光诱导击穿光谱技术的基本原理,分析了金属材料表面光学性质与激光诱导等离子体辐射强度的关系,建立了空气中进行等离子辐射研究的试验装置,测量了不同厚度碳层下激光等离子体的发射光谱强度。实验结果表明:当一束近红外高能量脉冲激光(能量为5 J)作用于覆盖有约18 μm厚度碳层的标钢样品时,激光等离子体的发射光谱强度提高了16%~22%;证明了金属样品表面覆盖碳层能够提高激光等离子体辐射强度。  相似文献

2 Cu3O7 target in vacuum and the plasma thus generated was studied using time-resolved spectroscopic techniques. Line broadening of the Ba I emission line at 553.5 nm was monitored as a function of time elapsed after the incidence of a laser pulse on the target. Measured line profiles of barium species were used to infer the electron density and temperature, and the time evolution of these important plasma parameters has been worked out. 为了研究预制小孔对激光诱导不锈钢等离子体辐射特性的影响,在常压下空气中,利用高能量钕玻璃脉冲激光烧蚀不锈钢样品,由组合式多功能光栅光谱仪和CCD光谱采集处理系统记录等离子体光谱,并通过测量光谱线的强度和半高全宽度分别计算了等离子体电子温度和电子密度。研究结果表明,当一束高能量激光(~5J)作用于表面放置直径为1.5 mm、深度为0.8 mm的预制小孔的不锈钢样品时,激光等离子体发射的谱线强度提高了71.5%~125.8%,光谱信背比提高了7.6%~18.5%;而等离子体温度和电子密度分别提高了1 200 K和1.21×1016cm-3。证明了预制小孔对激光诱导不锈钢等离子体辐射有明显的增强作用。  相似文献
