This paper is concerned with efficient numerical methods for solving the time-dependent scattering and inverse scattering problems of acoustic waves in a locally perturbed half-plane. By symmetric continuation, the scattering problem is reformulated as an equivalent symmetric problem defined in the whole plane. The retarded potential boundary integral equation method is modified to solve the forward problem. Then we consider the inverse scattering problem of determinating the local perturbation from the measured scattered data. The time domain linear sampling method is employed to deal with the inverse problem. The computation schemes proposed in this paper are relatively simple and easy to implement. Several numerical examples are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed methods.  相似文献

A three-dimensional inverse scattering problem for the acoustic wave equation is studied. The task is to determine the density and acoustic impedance of a medium. A necessary and sufficient condition for the unique solvability of this problem is established in the form of an energy conservation law. The interpretation of the solution to the inverse problem and the construction of medium images are discussed.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the diffraction problem in a transversely isotropic piezoelectric medium by a half-plane. The half-plane obstacle considered here is a semi-infinite slit, or a crack; both its surfaces are traction free and electric absorbent screens. In a generalized sense, we are dealing with the Sommerfeld problem in a piezoelectric medium.¶The coupled diffraction fields between acoustic wave and electric wave are excited by both incident acoustic wave as well as incident electric wave; and the sound soft and electric "blackness" conditions on the screens are characterized by a system of simultaneous Wiener-Hopf equations. Closed form solutions are sought by employing special techniques. Some interesting results have been obtained, such as mode conversions between acoustic wave and electric wave, novel diffraction patterns in the scattering fields, and the effect of electroacoustic head wave, as well as of surface wave-Bleustein-Gulyaev wave.¶Unlike the classical Sommerfeld problem, in which the only concern is the scattering field of electric wave, the strength of material, e.g. material toughness, is another concern here. From this perspective, relevant dynamic field intensity factors at the crack tip are derived explicitly.  相似文献

An algorithm is considered for solving the inverse scattering problem of seismic waves in a layered medium. The algorithm is based on solving a nonclassical ordinary differential equation with respect to an acoustic impedance, which also contains an unknown function characterizing the dissipative properties of the medium. The uniqueness of determining of these functions and the functional dependence associating them is established by solving the inverse problem of ground seismics. Results are presented from a computing experiment on applying the proposed algorithm.  相似文献

In a previous paper, the authors presented a dual space methodfor the numerical solution of the two-dimensional inverse scatteringproblem for acoustic waves in an inhomogeneous medium. Here,by making major modifications to the dual space method, a dramaticimprovement in the numerical performance of this method is achievedfor solving the inverse scattering problem.  相似文献

We consider an inverse acoustic scattering problem for identifying a non-convex penetrable obstacle in three dimensions in a homogeneous medium. We apply the complex geometrical optics solutions with logarithmic phase, which is called complex spherical waves, to reconstruction problem. The reconstruction schemes will be demonstrated in the last section.  相似文献

In [3] a new method was introduced for solving the inverse scattering problem for acoustic waves in an inhomogeneous medium. This method is based on the solution of a new class of boundary value problems for the reduced wave equation called interior transmission problems. In this paper it is shown that if there is absorption there exists at most one solution to the interior transmission problem and an approximate solution can be found such that the metaharmonic part is a Herglotz wave function. These results provide the necessary theoretical basis for the inverse scattering method introduced in [3]  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the inverse problem of scattering of time-harmonic acoustic waves by an inhomogeneous penetrable obstacle in a piecewise homogeneous medium. The well-posedness of the direct problem is first established by using the integral equation method. We then proceed to establish two tools that play important roles for the inverse problem: one is a mixed reciprocity relation and the other is a priori estimates of the solution on some part of the interfaces between the layered media. For the inverse problem, we prove in this paper that both the penetrable interfaces and the possible inside inhomogeneity can be uniquely determined from a knowledge of the far field pattern for incident plane waves.  相似文献

We consider the inverse scattering problem of determining the support of an anisotropic inhomogeneous medium from a knowledge of the incident and scattered time harmonic acoustic wave at fixed frequency. To this end, we extend the linear sampling method from the isotropic case to the case of anisotropic medium. In the case when the coefficients are real we also show that the set of transmission eigenvalues forms a discrete set.  相似文献

We consider the inverse problem of determining shape and location of sound-soft defects inside a known planar inhomogeneous and anisotropic medium through acoustic imaging at low frequency. In order to determine the defects, we perform acoustic boundary measurements, with prescribed boundary conditions of different types. We prove that at most two, suitably chosen, measurements allow us to uniquely determine multiple defects under minimal regularity assumptions on the defects and the medium containing them. Finally, we treat applications of these results to the case of inverse scattering.

The Schur algorithm and its time-domain counterpart, the fast Cholseky recursions, are some efficient signal processing algorithms which are well adapted to the study of inverse scattering problems. These algorithms use a layer stripping approach to reconstruct a lossless scattering medium described by symmetric two-component wave equations which model the interaction of right and left propagating waves. In this paper, the Schur and fast Chokesky recursions are presented and are used to study several inverse problems such as the reconstruction of nonuniform lossless transmission lines, the inverse problem for a layered acoustic medium, and the linear least-squares estimation of stationary stochastic processes. The inverse scattering problem for asymmetric two-component wave equations corresponding to lossy media is also examined and solved by using two coupled sets of Schur recursions. This procedure is then applied to the inverse problem for lossy transmission lines. The work of this author was supported by the Exxon Education FoundationThe work of this author was supported by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research under Grant AFOSR-82-0135A.  相似文献

The transient dynamic contact problem of the impact of a plane absolutely rigid punch on an elastic half-plane is considered. The solution of the integral equation of this problem in terms of the unknown Laplace transform of the contact stresses at the punch base is constructed by a special method of successive approximations. The solution of the transient dynamic contact problem is obtained after applying an inverse Laplace transformation to the solution of the integral equation over the whole time range of the impact process, and the law of the penetration of the punch into the elastic medium is determined from a Volterra-type integrodifferential equation. The conditions for the punch to begin to separate from the elastic half-plane are formulated from the solution obtained, and all the stages of the separation process are investigated in detail. The law of the punch motion on the elastic half-plane and the width of the contact area, which varies during the separation, are then determined from the solution of the Volterra-type integrodifferential equation when an additional condition is satisfied.  相似文献

We consider (in two-dimensional Euclidean space) the scattering of a plane, time-harmonic acoustic wave by an inhomogeneous medium Ω with compact support and a bounded obstacle D lying completely outside of the inhomogeneous medium. We show that one may determine the shape of D and the local speed of sound in Ω from a knowledge of the asymptotic behavior of the scattered wave (i.e. the far field). This is done by considering a constrained optimization problem and employing integral equation and conformal mapping techniques. By assuming a priori that the functions which determine the shape of D and the local speed of sound in Ω lie in given compact sets, we show that the problem is stable, in the sense that the solution of the inverse scattering problem depends continuously on the far field data.  相似文献

It is proved that an inhomogeneous medium whose boundary contains a weakly singular point of arbitrary order scatters every incoming wave. Similarly, a compactly supported source term with weakly singular points on the boundary always radiates acoustic waves. These results imply the absence of non-scattering energies and non-radiating sources in a domain whose boundary is piecewise analytic but not infinitely smooth. Local uniqueness results with a single far-field pattern are obtained for inverse source and inverse medium scattering problems. Our arguments provide a rather weak condition on scattering interfaces and refractive index functions to guarantee the scattering phenomena that the scattered fields cannot vanish identically.  相似文献

We discuss inverse problems for the Helmholtz equation at fixed energy, specifically the inverse source problem and the inverse scattering problem from a medium or an obstacle. We introduce the convex scattering support of a far field, a set which will be a subset of the convex hull of the support of any source which can produce it. We give several theorems which explain how to compute the convex scattering support and how to relate it to the actual support of a source, medium, or obstacle. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

The paper is concerned with the reconstruction of a defect in the core of a two-dimensional open waveguide from the scattering data. Since only a finite numbers of modes can propagate without attenuation inside the core, the problem is similar to the one-dimensional inverse medium problem. In particular, the inverse problem suffers from a lack of uniqueness and is known to be severely ill-posed. To overcome these difficulties, we consider multi-frequency scattering data. The uniqueness of solution to the inverse problem is established from the far field scattering information over an interval of low frequencies.  相似文献

We consider a nonclassical ordinary differential equation containing not only an unknown function but also an unknown coefficient depending on the unknown function. We show that if the desired solution is assumed to have bounded variation and be a.e. constant on the interval where the equation is considered, then the problem of finding the solution and the unknown coefficient does not have a unique solution in terms of the classical derivative. We prove that if the derivative is understood as a distribution, than this problem has a unique solution. These results are used to show that the acoustic impedance and the damping factor in the inverse scattering problem in a layered dissipative medium can be determined simultaneously.  相似文献

We present two uniqueness results for the inverse problem of determining an index of refraction by the corresponding acoustic far-field measurement encoded into the scattering amplitude. The first one is a local uniqueness in determining a variable index of refraction by the fixed incident-direction scattering amplitude. The inverse problem is formally posed with such measurement data. The second one is a global uniqueness in determining a constant refractive index by a single far-field measurement. The arguments are based on the study of certain non-self-adjoint interior transmission eigenvalue problems.  相似文献
