Boundary Harnack Principle for <Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis>-harmonic Functions in Smooth Euclidean Domains

We establish a scale-invariant version of the boundary Harnack principle for p-harmonic functions in Euclidean C ^1,1-domains and obtain estimates for the decay rates of positive p-harmonic functions vanishing on a segment of the boundary in terms of the distance to the boundary. We use these estimates to study the behavior of conformal Martin kernel functions and positive p-superharmonic functions near the boundary of the domain. H. <Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis>-Ideals in <Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis>-Regular Semirings

In this paper, we introduce p-ideals in semirings. A new form of regularity, which is compatible with p-ideals, is defined. Our aim is to explore the possibilities of establishing an ideal theory in semirings, going alongside the existing literature of semiring theory.AMS Subject Classification (2000): Primary 16Y60     

On Orthogonal Latin <Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis>-Dimensional Cubes

We give a construction of p orthogonal Latin p-dimensional cubes (or Latin hypercubes) of order n for every natural number n ≠ 2, 6 and p ≥ 2. Our result generalizes the well known result about orthogonal Latin squares published in 1960 by R. C. Bose, S. S. Shikhande and E. T. Parker.     

Cohomologie <Emphasis Type="Italic">L</Emphasis><Superscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis></Superscript> en degré 1 des espaces homogènes

The L ^p -cohomology in degree 1 of Riemannian homogeneous spaces is computed. It turns out that reduced cohomology does not vanish exactly for spaces quasiisometric to negatively curved homogeneous spaces.      

Computational study of large-scale <Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis>-Median problems

Given a directed graph G(V,A), the p-Median problem consists of determining p nodes (the median nodes) minimizing the total distance from the other nodes of the graph. We present a Branch-and-Cut-and-Price algorithm yielding provably good solutions for instances with |V|≤3795. Key ingredients of the algorithm are a delayed column-and-row generation technique, exploiting the special structure of the formulation, to solve the LP-relaxation, and cutting planes to strengthen the formulation and limit the size of the enumeration tree.     

Hausdorff-Besicovitch Dimension of Graphs and <Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis>-Variation

A relationship between Hausdorff-Besicovitch dimension of graphs of trajectories and p-variation index is well known for many real-valued Levy processes (see, e.g., [10]). Isometries of generalized <Emphasis Type="Italic">MV</Emphasis>-algebras

In this paper we investigate the relations between isometries and direct product decompositions of generalized MV-algebras.     

A Note on a Class of Factorized <Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis>-Groups

In this note we study finite p-groups G = AB admitting a factorization by an Abelian subgroup A and a subgroup B. As a consequence of our results we prove that if B contains an Abelian subgroup of index p ⁿ⁻¹ then G has derived length at most 2n.     

On <Emphasis Type="Italic">k</Emphasis>-Spaces and <Emphasis Type="Italic">k</Emphasis><Subscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">R</Emphasis></Subscript>-Spaces

In this note we study the relation between k _R -spaces and k-spaces and prove that a k _R -space with a σ-hereditarily closure-preserving k-network consisting of compact subsets is a k-space, and that a k _R -space with a point-countable k-network consisting of compact subsets need not be a k-space. Localization of <Emphasis Type="Italic">LM</Emphasis><Subscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">n</Emphasis></Subscript>-algebras

The aim of this paper is to define the localization LM _n -algebra of an LM _n —algebra L with respect to a topology F on L; in Section 5 we prove that the maximal LM _n -algebra of fractions (defined in [3]) and the LM _n -algebra of fractions relative to an Λ—closed system (defined in Section 2) are LM _n -algebras of localization.     

Minami–Webb splittings and some exotic <Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis>-local finite groups

We give a new proof of the Minami–Webb formula for classifying spaces of finite groups by exploiting Symonds’s resolution of Webb’s conjecture. The methods are applicable to obtain a stable decomposition of Minami’s type for the classifying spaces of the three exotic p-local finite groups which were introduced by Ruiz and Viruel at the prime 7. We obtain a similar decomposition for the classifying spaces of a family of exotic p-local finite groups which were constructed by Broto, Levi and Oliver. Asymptotic analysis for loss probability of queues with finite <Emphasis Type="Italic">GI</Emphasis>/<Emphasis Type="Italic">M</Emphasis>/1 type structure

This paper discusses the asymptotic behavior of the loss probability for general queues with finite GI/M/1 type structure such as GI/M/c/K, SM/M/1/K and GI/MSP/1/K queues. We find an explicit expression for the asymptotic behavior of the loss probability as K tends to infinity. With the result, it is shown that the loss probability tends to 0 at a geometric rate. An <Emphasis Type="Italic">ω</Emphasis>-category with all Duals is an <Emphasis Type="Italic">ω</Emphasis>-groupoid

We make a definition of ω-precategory which should underlie any definition of weak ω-category. We make a precise definition of pseudo-invertible cells in this setting. We show that in an ω-precategory with all weak duals, every cell is pseudo-invertible. We deduce that in any “sensible” theory of ω-categories, an ω-category with all weak duals is an ω-groupoid. We discuss various examples and open questions involving higher-dimensional tangles and cobordisms.      

Multiple <Emphasis Type="Italic">q</Emphasis>-zeta functions and multiple <Emphasis Type="Italic">q</Emphasis>-polylogarithms

For every positive integer d we define the q-analog of multiple zeta function of depth d and study its properties, generalizing the work of Kaneko et al. who dealt with the case d=1. We first analytically continue it to a meromorphic function on ℂ ^d with explicit poles. In our Main Theorem we show that its limit when q ↑1 is the ordinary multiple zeta function. Then we consider some special values of these functions when d=2. At the end of the paper we also propose the q-analogs of multiple polylogarithms by using Jackson’s q-iterated integrals and then study some of their properties. Our definition is motivated by those of Koornwinder and Schlesinger although theirs are slightly different from ours. Partially supported by NSF grant DMS0139813 and DMS0348258.     

The <Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis>-step iterative algorithm for a system of generalized mixed quasi-variational inclusions with (<Emphasis Type="Italic">H</Emphasis>,η)-monotone operators

In this paper, we introduce and study a new system of generalized mixed quasi-variational inclusions with (H,η)-monotone operators which contains variational inequalities, variational inclusions, systems of variational inequalities and systems of variational inclusions in the literature as special cases. By using the resolvent technique for the (H,η)-monotone operators, we prove the existence of solutions and the convergence of some new p-step iterative algorithms for this system of generalized mixed quasi-variational inclusions and its special cases. The results in this paper unifies, extends and improves some known results in the literature.     

<Emphasis Type=Italic>L</Emphasis><Subscript><Emphasis Type=Italic>p</Emphasis></Subscript>-mixed intersection bodies

In this paper the author first introduce a new concept of L _p -dual mixed volumes of star bodies which extends the classical dual mixed volumes. Moreover, we extend the notions of L _p intersection body to L _p -mixed intersection body. Inequalities for L _p -dual mixed volumes of L _p -mixed intersection bodies are established and the results established here provide new estimates for these type of inequalities. <Emphasis Type="Italic">K</Emphasis>-subanalytic rectilinearization and uniformization

We prove rectilinearization and uniformization theorems for K-subanalytic (∝ _an ^K -definable) sets and functions using the Lion-Rolin formula. Parallel reasoning gives standard results for the subanalytic case.     

<Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis>-Laplace Operator and Diameter of Manifolds

Let be a compact Riemannian manifold without boundary. In this paper, we consider the first nonzero eigenvalue of the p-Laplacian and we prove that the limit of when is 2/d(M), where d(M) is the diameter of M. Moreover, if is an oriented compact hypersurface of the Euclidean space or , we prove an upper bound of in terms of the largest principal curvature κ over M. As applications of these results, we obtain optimal lower bounds of d(M) in terms of the curvature. In particular, we prove that if M is a hypersurface of then: .
