Sodium metal is an ideal anode material for metal rechargeable batteries, owing to its high theoretical capacity (1166 mAh g?1), low cost, and earth‐abundance. However, the dendritic growth upon Na plating, stemming from unstable solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) film, is a major and most notable problem. Here, a sodium benzenedithiolate (PhS2Na2)‐rich protection layer is synthesized in situ on sodium by a facile method that effectively prevents dendrite growth in the carbonate electrolyte, leading to stabilized sodium metal electrodeposition for 400 cycles (800 h) of repeated plating/stripping at a current density of 1 mA cm?2. The organic salt, PhS2Na2, is found to be a critical component in the protection layer. This finding opens up a new and promising avenue, based on organic sodium slats, to stabilize sodium metals with a protection layer.  相似文献

Recently, there has been great interest in developing advanced sodium‐ion batteries for large‐scale application. Most efforts have concentrated on the search for high‐performance electrode materials only in sodium half‐cells. Research on sodium full cells for practical application has encountered many problems, such as insufficient cycles with rapid capacity decay, low safety, and low operating voltage. Herein, we present a layered P2‐Na0.66Ni0.17Co0.17Ti0.66O2, as both an anode (ca. 0.69 V versus Na+/Na) and as a high‐voltage cathode (ca. 3.74 V versus Na+/Na). The full cell based on this bipolar electrode exhibits well‐defined voltage plateaus near 3.10 V, which is the highest average voltage in the symmetric cells. It also shows the longest cycle life (75.9 % capacity retention after 1000 cycles) in all sodium full cells, a usable capacity of 92 mAh g?1, and superior rate capability (65 mAh g?1 at a high rate of 2C).  相似文献

MoS2 nanoflowers with expanded interlayer spacing of the (002) plane were synthesized and used as high‐performance anode in Na‐ion batteries. By controlling the cut‐off voltage to the range of 0.4–3 V, an intercalation mechanism rather than a conversion reaction is taking place. The MoS2 nanoflower electrode shows high discharge capacities of 350 mAh g?1 at 0.05 A g?1, 300 mAh g?1 at 1 A g?1, and 195 mAh g?1 at 10 A g?1. An initial capacity increase with cycling is caused by peeling off MoS2 layers, which produces more active sites for Na+ storage. The stripping of MoS2 layers occurring in charge/discharge cycling contributes to the enhanced kinetics and low energy barrier for the intercalation of Na+ ions. The electrochemical reaction is mainly controlled by the capacitive process, which facilitates the high‐rate capability. Therefore, MoS2 nanoflowers with expanded interlayers hold promise for rechargeable Na‐ion batteries.  相似文献

Sodium metal is a promising anode, but uneven Na deposition with a dendrite growth seriously impedes its application. Herein, a fibrous hydroxylated MXene/carbon nanotubes (h‐Ti3C2/CNTs) composite is designed as a scaffold for dendrite‐free Na metal electrodes. This composite displays fast Na+/electron transport kinetics and good thermal conductivity and mechanical properties. The h‐Ti3C2 contains abundant sodiophilic functional groups, which play a significant role in inducing homogeneous nucleation of Na. Meanwhile, CNTs provide high tensile strength and ease of film‐forming. As a result, h‐Ti3C2/CNTs exhibit a high average Coulombic efficiency of 99.2 % and no dendrite after 1000 cycles. The h‐Ti3C2/CNTs/Na based symmetric cells show a long lifespan over 4000 h at 1.0 mA cm?2 with a capacity of 1.0 mAh cm?2. Furthermore, Na‐O2 batteries with a h‐Ti3C2/CNTs/Na anode exhibit a low potential gap of 0.11 V after an initial 70 cycles.  相似文献

The utilization of oxygen vacancies (OVs) in sodium ion batteries (SIBs) is expected to enhance performance, but as yet it has rarely been reported. Taking the MoO3?x nanosheet anode as an example, for the first time we demonstrate the benefits of OVs on SIB performance. Moreover, the benefits at deep‐discharge conditions can be further promoted by an ultrathin Al2O3 coating. A series of measurements show that the OVs increase the electric conductivity and Na‐ion diffusion coefficient, and the promotion from ultrathin coating lies in the effective reduction of cycling‐induced solid‐electrolyte interphase. The coated nanosheets exhibited high reversible capacity and great rate capability with the capacities of 283.9 (50 mA g?1) and 179.3 mAh g?1 (1 A g?1) after 100 cycles. This work may not only arouse future attention on OVs for sodium energy storage, but also open up new possibilities for designing strategies to utilize defects in other energy storage systems.  相似文献

A porous Na3V2(PO4)3 cathode material coated uniformly with a layer of approximately 6 nm carbon has been synthesized by the sol–gel method combined with a freeze‐drying process. The special porous morphology and structure significantly increases the specific surface area of the material, which greatly enlarges the contact area between the electrode and electrolyte, and consequently supplies more active sites for sodium ions. When employed as a cathode material of sodium‐ion batteries, this porous Na3V2(PO4)3/C exhibits excellent rate performance and cycling stability; for instance, it shows quite a flat potential plateau at 3.4 V in the potential window of 2.7–4.0 V versus Na+/Na and delivers an initial capacity as high as 118.9 and 98.0 mA h g?1 at current rates of 0.05 and 0.5 C, respectively, and after 50 cycles, a good capacity retention of 92.7 and 93.6 % are maintained. Moreover, even when the discharge current density is increased to 5 C (590 mA g?1), an initial capacity of 97.6 mA h g?1 can still be achieved, and an exciting capacity retention of 88.6 % is obtained after 100 cycles. The good cycle performance, excellent rate capability, and moreover, the low cost of Na3V2(PO4)3/C suggest that this material is a promising cathode for large‐scale sodium‐ion rechargeable batteries.  相似文献

P2‐type layered oxides suffer from an ordered Na+/vacancy arrangement and P2→O2/OP4 phase transitions, leading them to exhibit multiple voltage plateaus upon Na+ extraction/insertion. The deficient sodium in the P2‐type cathode easily induces the bad structural stability at deep desodiation states and limited reversible capacity during Na+ de/insertion. These drawbacks cause poor rate capability and fast capacity decay in most P2‐type layered oxides. To address these challenges, a novel high sodium content (0.85) and plateau‐free P2‐type cathode‐Na0.85Li0.12Ni0.22Mn0.66O2 (P2‐NLNMO) was developed. The complete solid‐solution reaction over a wide voltage range ensures both fast Na+ mobility (10?11 to 10?10 cm2 s?1) and small volume variation (1.7 %). The high sodium content P2‐NLNMO exhibits a higher reversible capacity of 123.4 mA h g?1, superior rate capability of 79.3 mA h g?1 at 20 C, and 85.4 % capacity retention after 500 cycles at 5 C. The sufficient Na and complete solid‐solution reaction are critical to realizing high‐performance P2‐type cathodes for sodium‐ion batteries.  相似文献

Layered transition metal oxides NaxMO2 (M=transition metal) with P2 or O3 structure have attracted attention in sodium‐ion batteries (NIBs). A universal law is found to distinguish structural competition between P2 and O3 types based on the ratio of interlayer distances of the alkali metal layer d(O‐Na‐O) and transition‐metal layer d(O‐M‐O). The ratio of about 1.62 can be used as an indicator. O3‐type Na0.66Mg0.34Ti0.66O2 oxide is prepared as a stable anode for NIBs, in which the low Na‐content (ca. 0.66) usually undergoes a P2‐type structure with respect to NaxMO2. This material delivers an available capacity of about 98 mAh g?1 within a voltage range of 0.4–2.0 V and exhibits a better cycling stability (ca. 94.2 % of capacity retention after 128 cycles). In situ X‐ray diffraction reveals a single‐phase reaction in the discharge–charge process, which is different from the common phase transitions reported in O3‐type electrodes, ensuring long‐term cycling stability.  相似文献

Li‐O2 batteries are promising candidates for next‐generation high‐energy‐density battery systems. However, the main problems of Li–O2 batteries include the poor rate capability of the cathode and the instability of the Li anode. Herein, an ester‐based liquid additive, 2,2,2‐trichloroethyl chloroformate, was introduced into the conventional electrolyte of a Li–O2 battery. Versatile effects of this additive on the oxygen cathode and the Li metal anode became evident. The Li–O2 battery showed an outstanding rate capability of 2005 mAh g?1 with a remarkably decreased charge potential at a large current density of 1000 mA g?1. The positive effect of the halide ester on the rate capacity is associated with the improved solubility of Li2O2 in the electrolyte and the increased diffusion rate of O2. Furthermore, the ester promotes the formation of a solid–electrolyte interphase layer on the surface of the Li metal, which restrains the loss and volume change of the Li electrode during stripping and plating, thereby achieving a cycling stability over 900 h and a Li capacity utilization of up to 10 mAh cm?2.  相似文献

A rechargeable Li metal anode coupled with a high‐voltage cathode is a promising approach to high‐energy‐density batteries exceeding 300 Wh kg?1. Reported here is an advanced dual‐additive electrolyte containing a unique solvation structure and it comprises a tris(pentafluorophenyl)borane additive and LiNO3 in a carbonate‐based electrolyte. This system generates a robust outer Li2O solid electrolyte interface and F‐ and B‐containing conformal cathode electrolyte interphase. The resulting stable ion transport kinetics enables excellent cycling of Li/LiNi0.8Mn0.1Co0.1O2 for 140 cycles with 80 % capacity retention under highly challenging conditions (≈295.1 Wh kg?1 at cell‐level). The electrolyte also exhibits high cycling stability for a 4.6 V LiCoO2 (160 cycles with 89.8 % capacity retention) cathode and 4.95 V LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 cathode.  相似文献

Low storage capacity and poor cycling stability are the main drawbacks of the electrode materials for sodium‐ion (Na‐ion) batteries, due to the large radius of the Na ion. Here we show that micro‐structured molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) can exhibit high storage capacity and excellent cycling and rate performances as an anode material for Na‐ion batteries by controlling its intercalation depth and optimizing the binder. The former method is to preserve the layered structure of MoS2, whereas the latter maintains the integrity of the electrode during cycling. A reversible capacity of 90 mAh g?1 is obtained on a potential plateau feature when less than 0.5 Na per formula unit is intercalated into micro‐MoS2. The fully discharged electrode with sodium alginate (NaAlg) binder delivers a high reversible capacity of 420 mAh g?1. Both cells show excellent cycling performance. These findings indicate that metal chalcogenides, for example, MoS2, can be promising Na‐storage materials if their operation potential range and the binder can be appropriately optimized.  相似文献

Sodium‐ion batteries are a very promising alternative to lithium‐ion batteries because of their reliance on an abundant supply of sodium salts, environmental benignity, and low cost. However, the low rate capability and poor long‐term stability still hinder their practical application. A cathode material, formed of RuO2‐coated Na3V2O2(PO4)2F nanowires, has a 50 nm diameter with the space group of I4/mmm. When used as a cathode material for Na‐ion batteries, a reversible capacity of 120 mAh g?1 at 1 C and 95 mAh g?1 at 20 C can be achieved after 1000 charge–discharge cycles. The ultrahigh rate capability and enhanced cycling stability are comparable with high performance lithium cathodes. Combining first principles computational investigation with experimental observations, the excellent performance can be attributed to the uniform and highly conductive RuO2 coating and the preferred growth of the (002) plane in the Na3V2O2(PO4)2F nanowires.  相似文献

All‐solid‐state sodium batteries (ASSSBs) with nonflammable electrolytes and ubiquitous sodium resource are a promising solution to the safety and cost concerns for lithium‐ion batteries. However, the intrinsic mismatch between low anodic decomposition potential of superionic sulfide electrolytes and high operating potentials of sodium‐ion cathodes leads to a volatile cathode–electrolyte interface and undesirable cell performance. Here we report a high‐capacity organic cathode, Na4C6O6, that is chemically and electrochemically compatible with sulfide electrolytes. A bulk‐type ASSSB shows high specific capacity (184 mAh g?1) and one of the highest specific energies (395 Wh kg?1) among intercalation compound‐based ASSSBs. The capacity retentions of 76 % after 100 cycles at 0.1 C and 70 % after 400 cycles at 0.2 C represent the record stability for ASSSBs. Additionally, Na4C6O6 functions as a capable anode material, enabling a symmetric all‐organic ASSSB with Na4C6O6 as both cathode and anode materials.  相似文献

Developing rechargeable Na–CO2 batteries is significant for energy conversion and utilization of CO2. However, the reported batteries in pure CO2 atmosphere are non‐rechargeable with limited discharge capacity of 200 mAh g?1. Herein, we realized the rechargeability of a Na–CO2 battery, with the proposed and demonstrated reversible reaction of 3 CO2+4 Na?2 Na2CO3+C. The battery consists of a Na anode, an ether‐based electrolyte, and a designed cathode with electrolyte‐treated multi‐wall carbon nanotubes, and shows reversible capacity of 60000 mAh g?1 at 1 A g?1 (≈1000 Wh kg?1) and runs for 200 cycles with controlled capacity of 2000 mAh g?1 at charge voltage <3.7 V. The porous structure, high electro‐conductivity, and good wettability of electrolyte to cathode lead to reduced electrochemical polarization of the battery and further result in high performance. Our work provides an alternative approach towards clean recycling and utilization of CO2.  相似文献

Considering that the high capacity, long‐term cycle life, and high‐rate capability of anode materials for sodium‐ion batteries (SIBs) is a bottleneck currently, a series of Co‐doped FeS2 solid solutions with different Co contents were prepared by a facile solvothermal method, and for the first time their Na‐storage properties were investigated. The optimized Co0.5Fe0.5S2 (Fe0.5) has discharge capacities of 0.220 Ah g?1 after 5000 cycles at 2 A g?1 and 0.172 Ah g?1 even at 20 A g?1 with compatible ether‐based electrolyte in a voltage window of 0.8–2.9 V. The Fe0.5 sample transforms to layered NaxCo0.5Fe0.5S2 by initial activation, and the layered structure is maintained during following cycles. The redox reactions of NaxCo0.5Fe0.5S2 are dominated by pseudocapacitive behavior, leading to fast Na+ insertion/extraction and durable cycle life. A Na3V2(PO4)3/Fe0.5 full cell was assembled, delivering an initial capacity of 0.340 Ah g?1.  相似文献

A strategy is described to increase charge storage in a dual electrolyte Na‐ion battery (DESIB) by combining the redox chemistry of the electrolyte with a Na+ ion de‐insertion/insertion cathode. Conventional electrolytes do not contribute to charge storage in battery systems, but redox‐active electrolytes augment this property via charge transfer reactions at the electrode–electrolyte interface. The capacity of the cathode combined with that provided by the electrolyte redox reaction thus increases overall charge storage. An aqueous sodium hexacyanoferrate (Na4Fe(CN)6) solution is employed as the redox‐active electrolyte (Na‐FC) and sodium nickel Prussian blue (Nax‐NiBP) as the Na+ ion insertion/de‐insertion cathode. The capacity of DESIB with Na‐FC electrolyte is twice that of a battery using a conventional (Na2SO4) electrolyte. The use of redox‐active electrolytes in batteries of any kind is an efficient and scalable approach to develop advanced high‐energy‐density storage systems.  相似文献

Developing Na metal anodes that can be deeply cycled with high efficiency for a long time is a prerequisite for rechargeable Na metal batteries to be practically useful despite their notable advantages in theoretical energy density and potential low cost. Their high chemical reactivity with the electrolyte and tendency for dendrite formation are two major issues limiting the reversibility of Na metal electrodes. In this work, we introduce for the first time potassium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide (KTFSI) as a bifunctional electrolyte additive to stabilize Na metal electrodes, in which the TFSI? anions decompose into lithium nitride and oxynitrides to render a desirable solid electrolyte interphase layer while the K+ cations preferentially adsorb onto Na protrusions and provide electrostatic shielding to suppress dendritic deposition. Through the cooperation of the cations and anions, we have realized Na metal electrodes that can be deeply cycled at a capacity of 10 mAh cm?2 for hundreds of hours.  相似文献

All‐solid‐state sodium batteries, using solid electrolyte and abundant sodium resources, show great promise for safe, low‐cost, and large‐scale energy storage applications. The exploration of novel solid electrolytes is critical for the room temperature operation of all‐solid‐state Na batteries. An ideal solid electrolyte must have high ionic conductivity, hold outstanding chemical and electrochemical stability, and employ low‐cost synthetic methods. Achieving the combination of these properties is a grand challenge for the synthesis of sulfide‐based solid electrolytes. Design of the solid electrolyte Na3SbS4 is described, realizing excellent air stability and an economic synthesis based on hard and soft acid and base (HSAB) theory. This new solid electrolyte also exhibits a remarkably high ionic conductivity of 1 mS cm?1 at 25 °C and ideal compatibility with a metallic sodium anode.  相似文献

All‐solid‐state sodium‐ion batteries that operate at room temperature are attractive candidates for use in large‐scale energy storage systems. However, materials innovation in solid electrolytes is imperative to fulfill multiple requirements, including high conductivity, functional synthesis protocols for achieving intimate ionic contact with active materials, and air stability. A new, highly conductive (1.1 mS cm?1 at 25 °C, Ea=0.20 eV) and dry air stable sodium superionic conductor, tetragonal Na3SbS4, is described. Importantly, Na3SbS4 can be prepared by scalable solution processes using methanol or water, and it exhibits high conductivities of 0.1–0.3 mS cm?1. The solution‐processed, highly conductive solidified Na3SbS4 electrolyte coated on an active material (NaCrO2) demonstrates dramatically improved electrochemical performance in all‐solid‐state batteries.  相似文献
