The oxidative addition of CH3I to planar rhodium(I) complex [Rh(TFA)(PPh3)2] in acetonitrile (TFA is trifluoroacetylacetonate) leads to the formation of cationic, cis-[Rh(TFA)(PPh3)2(CH3)(CH3CN)][BPh4] (1), or neutral, cis-[Rh(TFA)(PPh3)2(CH3)(I)] (4), rhodium(III) methyl complexes depending on the reaction conditions. 1 reacts readily with NH3 and pyridine to form cationic complexes, cis-[Rh(TFA)(PPh3)2(CH3)(NH3)][BPh4] (2) and cis-[Rh(TFA)(PPh3)2(CH3)(Py)][BPh4] (3), respectively. Acetylacetonate methyl complex of rhodium(III), cis-[Rh(Acac)(PPh3)2(CH3)(I)] (5), was obtained by the action of NaI on cis-[Rh(Acac)(PPh3)2(CH3)(CH3CN)][BPh4] in acetone at −15 °C. Complexes 1-5 were characterized by elemental analysis, 31P{1H}, 1H and 19F NMR. For complexes 2, 3, 4 conductivity data in acetone solutions are reported. The crystal structures of 2 and 3 were determined. NMR parameters of 1-5 and related complexes are discussed from the viewpoint of their isomerism.

Two hetero-binuclear complexes [CpCoS2C2(B9H10)][Rh(COD)] (2a) and [CpCoSe2C2(B10H10)][Rh(COD)] (2b) [Cp = η5-pentamethylcyclopentadienyl, COD = cyclo-octa-1,5-diene (C8H12)] were synthesized by the reactions of half-sandwich complexes [CpCoE2C2(B10H10)] [E = S (1a), Se (1b)] with low valent transition metal complexes [Rh(COD)(OEt)]2 and [Rh(COD)(OMe)]2. Although the reaction conditions are the same, the structures of two products for dithiolato carborane and diselenolato carborane are different. The cage of the carborane in 2a was opened; However, the carborane cage in 2b was intact. Complexes 2a and 2b have been fully characterized by 1H, 11B NMR and IR spectroscopy, as well as by elemental analyses. The molecular structures of 2a and 2b have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses and strong metal-metal interactions between cobalt and rhodium atoms (2.6260 Å (2a) and 2.7057 Å (2b)) are existent.

Two new sodium hydroxyalkoxycarbonylcyclopentadienide salts Na[rac-CpCO2(CHPh)2OH] (1) and Na[(2S,3S)-CpCO2(CHPh)2OH] (2) were prepared by reaction of NaCp with the five-membered cyclic carbonates cis-4,5-diphenyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-one and (4S,5S)-4,5-diphenyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-one. The reaction of these salts with [Rh(NBD)Cl]2 gave [Rh{rac-CpCO2(CHPh)2OH}(NBD)] (3) and (−)-[Rh{(2S,3S)-CpCO2(CHPh)2OH}(NBD)] (4) whose catalytic activity in the hydroformylation of hex-1-ene and styrene has been investigated and compared with that of the previously reported rhodium complexes [Rh{CpCO2(CHR)2OH}(NBD)] (R=H, Me). In addition we also discuss some preliminary results regarding the behavior of these complexes in the hydrogenation of the same substrates. The reactivity of NaCp toward the six-membered cyclic carbonate 1,3-dioxan-2-one has also been studied and it has been found that the reaction leads to two cyclopentadienide anions [CpCO2(CH2)3OH] (5) and [CpCO2(CH2)3OC(O)O(CH2)3OH] (6) in amounts strictly dependent on the carbonate/NaCp stoichiometric ratio.

The reaction of C5H5Rh(CO)(PiPr3) (1] which is prepared from C5H5Rh(CO)2 and neat P1Pr3, with the nitriloxides 2-RC6H4CNO (R = H, Cl) leads to the formation of the metallaheterocycles C5H5(P1Pr3) ) (2, 3) in 90–95% yield. Compound 1 reacts with tosylazide to give the C,N-bound isocyanate complex C5 H5(PiPr3)Rh(η2-TosN=C=O) (6). Analogously, on treatment of C5Me5Co(CO)(PMe3) with phenylazide the phenylisocyanate derivative C5Me5(PMe3)Co(η2-PhN=C=O) (7) is formed. Protonation of 7 with CF3CO 2H affords the non-ionic carbamoylcobalt complex C5Me5(PMe3)Co[C(O)NHPh](O2CCF3) (8). The X-ray structural analysis of 2 reveals the presence of an almost planar heterocycle in which the two Rh-C distances differ by 0.045 Å  相似文献

The complex trans-[Rh(CO)(NH3)(PiPr3)2]PF6 (2) was prepared from [(η3-C3H5)Rh(PiPr3)2] (1), NH4PF6 and CO or from 1 and NH4PF6 in presence of an excess of methanol. With an excess of CO, the dicarbonyl and tricarbonyl compounds trans-[Rh(CO)2(PiPr3)2]PF6 (3) and [Rh(CO)3(PiPr3)2]PF6 (4) were obtained. Displacement of one CO ligand in 3 by pyridine and acetone led to the formation of trans-[Rh(CO)(py)PiPr3)2]PF6 (5a) and trans-[Rh(CO) (O=CMe2(PiPr3)2]PF6 (6), respectively. Treatment of 1 with [pyH]BF4 and pyridine gave trans-[Rh(py)2(PiPr3)2]BF4 (7); in presence of H2 the dihydrido complex [RhH2(py)2(PiPr3)2]BF4 (8) was formed. The reaction of 1 with NH4PF6 and ethylene produced trans [Rh(C2H4(NH3(PiPr3)2]PF6(9) whereas with methylvinylketone and acetophenone the octahedral hydridorhodium(III) complexes [RhH(η2-CH=CHC(=O)CH3 (NH3(PiPr3)2]PF6(11) and [RhH(η2-C6H4C(=O)CH3(NH3(Pipr3)2]PF6 (13) were obtained. The synthesis of the cationic vinylidenerhodium(I) compounds trans-[Rh(=C=CHR)(py)(PiPr3)2]BF4 (14–16) and trans-[Rh(=C=CHR)(NH3)(PiPr3) 2]PF6 (17–19) was achieved either on treatment of 1 with [pyH]BF4 or NH4PF6 in presence of 1-alkynes or by ethylene displacement from 9 by HCCR. With tert-butylacetylene as substrate, the alkinyl(hydrido)rhodium(III) complex [RhH(CCtBu)(NH3)(O=CMe2)(PiPr3) 2]PF6 (20) was isolated which in CH2Cl2 solution smoothly reacted to give 19 (R =tBu). The cationic but-2-yne compound trans-[Rh(MeCCMe)(NH3)(Pi Pr3)2]PF6 (21) was prepared from 1, NH4PF6 and C2Me2. The molecular structures of 3 and 14 were determined by X-ray crystallography; in both cases the square-planar coordination around the metal and the trans disposition of the phosphine ligands was confirmed.

Abstract

The complex [Rh(CO)2Cl]2 reacts with two molar equivalent of pyridine carboxylic acids ligands Py-2-COOH(a), Py-3-COOH(b) and Py-4-COOH(c) to yield rhodium(I) dicarbonyl chelate complex [Rh(CO)2(L/)](1a) {L/ = η2-(N,O) coordinated Py-2-COO(a/)} and non-chelate complexes [Rh(CO)2ClL//](1b,c) {L// = η1-(N) coordinated Py-3-COOH(b), Py-4-COOH(c)}. The complexes 1 undergo oxidative addition (OA) reactions with different electrophiles such as CH3I, C2H5I, C6H5CH2Cl and I2 to give penta coordinated Rh(III) complexes of the types [Rh(CO)(CORn)XL/], {n = 1,2,3; R1 = CH3(2a); R2 = C2H5(3a); X = I and R3 = CH2C6H5 (4a); X = Cl}, [Rh(CO)I2L/](5a), [Rh(CO)(CORn)ClXL//] {R1 = CH3(6b,c); R2 = C2H5(7b,c); X = I and R3 = CH2C6H5 (8b,c); X = Cl} and [Rh(CO)ClI2L//](9b,c). The complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR and 1H NMR spectroscopy. Kinetic data for the reaction of 1a–b with CH3I indicate a first order reaction. The catalytic activity of 1a–c for the carbonylation of methanol to acetic acid and its ester is evaluated and a higher turn over number (TON = 810–1094) is obtained compared with that of the well-known commercial species [Rh(CO)2I2] (TON = 653) at mild reaction conditions (temperature 130 ± 5 °C, pressure 35 ± 5 bar).

The reaction of dimeric rhodium precursor [Rh(CO)2Cl]2 with two molar equivalent of 1,1,1-tris(diphenylphosphinomethyl)ethane trichalcogenide ligands, [CH3C(CH2P(X)Ph2)3](L), where X = O(a), S(b) and Se(c) affords the complexes of the type [Rh(CO)2Cl(L)] (1a–1c). The complexes 1a–1c have been characterized by elemental analyses, mass spectrometry, IR and NMR (1H, 31P and 13C) spectroscopy and the ligands a–c are structurally determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. 1a–1c undergo oxidative addition (OA) reactions with different electrophiles such as CH3I, C2H5I and C6H5CH2Cl to give Rh(III) complexes of the types [Rh(CO)(COR)ClXL] {R = –CH3 (2a–2c), –C2H5 (3a–3c); X = I and R = –CH2C6H5 (4a–4c); X = Cl}. Kinetic data for the reaction of a–c with CH3I indicate a first-order reaction. The catalytic activity of 1a–1c for the carbonylation of methanol to acetic acid and its ester is evaluated and a higher turn over number (TON = 1564–1723) is obtained compared to that of the well-known commercial species [Rh(CO)2I2] (TON = 1000) under the reaction conditions: temperature 130 ± 2 °C, pressure 30 ± 2 bar and time 1 h.

Treatment of the bulky iminophosphine ligand [Ph2PCH2C(Ph)N(2,6-Me2C6H3)] (L) with [M(CH3CN)2(ligand)]+n, where for M = Pd(II): ligand = η3-allyl, n = 1, and for M = Rh(I), ligand: 2(C2H4), 2(CO) or cod, n = 0, yields the mono-cationic iminophosphine complexes [Pd(η3-C3H5)(L)][BF4] (1), [Rh(cod)(L)][BF4] (2), [Rh(CO)(CH3CN)(L)][BF4] (3), and cis-[Rh(L)2][BF4] (4). All the new complexes have been characterised by NMR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. Complex 1 shows moderate activity in the copolymerisation of CO and ethene but is inactive towards Heck coupling of 4-bromoacetophenone and n-butyl acrylate.

The reactions of [Sn(Ph)2(Ph2PC6H4-2-S)2] with trans -[M(Cl)(CO)(PPh3)2] M=Ir, Rh afford the complexes [Rh(Ph2PC6H4-2-S)2(SnClPh2)] (1) and [Ir(CO)(Ph2PC6H4-2-S)2(SnClPh2)] (2) as final products of two processes, a transmetallation reaction and an oxidative addition process. The crystal structures of both complexes have been determined, showing the rhodium compound to be into a slightly distorted square base pyramidal geometry, while that of the iridium derivative can be described as a distorted octahedron.

The reactions between the phosphine-organoiron [CpFeII6-C6Me5CH2PPh2]+ PF6? (1) and [RhCl(η4-diolefin)(μ-Cl)]2 in CH2Cl2 at reflux give the new heterobinuclear air-stable crystalline complexes [CpFeII6-C6Me5CH2)P(Ph)2Rh(η4-diene)Cl]PF6,(D'*-diene=cyclooctadiene (COD): 65%, 2; trimethylfluorobenzobicyclo[2.2.2]octadiene (Me3TFB): 48%, 3). Complexes 2 and 3 have been studied by 1H, 13C and 31P NMR spectroscopy and they are carbonylated (CO, 1 atm). Cyclic voltammetry experiments with addition of MeOH show electron transfer FeIRhI → FeIIRh0, the presence of a catalytic wave FeI/FeII and the possible formation of Rh hydrides. Under normal conditions 2 is a catalyst for hydrogenation of cyclohexene, but it is less efficient than the known mononuclear Rh1 analogues.

The structure of Rh2(CH3CO2)4(DMF)2 {DMF = HCON(CH3)2} has been determined by single crystal X-ray methods. The compound crystallizes with eight formula units in a cell of dimensions: a = 29.438(7) Å, b = 7.978(2) Å, c = 20.279(5) Å, β = 113.20(4)°, V = 4377.5 Å3, space group C2/c. The structure has been refined by full-matrix least-squares method to a final R = 0.030 for the 4156 observed data. Two Rh(II) atoms are linked by four acetate groups forming a dimeric unit, where the RhRh distance is 2.383(1) Å. The coordination sphere about each Rh atom is completed by a DMF molecule; the average RhO(DMF) distance is 2.296(3) Å.

The nature of the protonation reaction of (
o(CO)3 (M = Mo, W; R = Me, Ph, p-MeC6H4) (2) (obtained from (CO)3CpMCH2CCR (1) and Co2(CO)8) to give (CO)3 Cp(CO)2 (3) was further investigated by a crossover experiment. Thus, reaction of an equimolar mixture of 2b (M = W, Cp = η5-C5H5, R = Ph) and 2e (M = W, Cp = η5-C5H4Me; R = p-MeC6H4) with CF3COOH affords only 3b (same M, Cp, and R as 2b) and 3e (same M, Cp, and R as 2e) to show an intramolecular nature of this transformation. Reaction of (CO)3CpWCH2CCPh (1b) with Co4(CO)12 was also examined and found to yield 2b exclusively. Treatment of 1 with Cp2Mo2(CO)4 at 0–5°C provides thermally sensitive compounds, possibly (CO)2Cp
oCp(CO)2 (5), which decompose at room temperature to give Cp2Mo2(CO)6 as the only isolated product.

The synthesis and properties of neutral and cationic complexes of general formulae [{RhCl(diolefin)}2(CH2(pz)2)], [Rh(CO)2 (CH2(pz)2)][RhCl2(CO)2], (Rh(diolefin)(CH2(pz)2)]ClO2, [{Rh(diolefin)(PPh3)}2(CH2(pz)2)](ClO4)2, [Rh(CO)2(CH2(pz)2)]ClO4 and [Rh(CO)(CH2(pz)2)(PPh3)]ClO4 are described. The NMR spectra of [Rh(COD)(CH2(pz)2)]ClO4 complexes are discussed. X-ray structural analysis of [Rh(COD)(CH2(Pz)2)]ClO4 · 12C2H4Cl2 is presented; the final R factor is 0.061 for 2436 observed data, recorded with Cu-Kα, not corrected for absorption and with the sample inside a capillary. The Rh atom presents a distorted square planar coordination in a mononuclear arrangement. The COD ring has a twisted boat conformation, and the two halves of the CH2(Pz)2 moiety, which are quite similar to one another, form an angle of 47.2(4)°.

C5Me5Rh(L)P2Me4 (L = CO, C2H4) reacts with [C5Me5Rh(μ-CO)]2, to give the trinuclear complexes C5Me5(L)Rh(μ-P2Me4)RhC5Me5(μ-CO)2RhC5Me5 (VI, VII). In the reactions of C5Me5Rh(CO)P2Me4 with C5H5(CO)2 (M = Rh, Co) and C5H4RMn(CO)3 (R = H, Me), the homo- and hetero-metallic binuclear compounds C5Me5(CO)Rh(μ-P2Me4)M(CO)C5H5 (VIII, IX) and C5Me5(CO)Rh(μ-P2Me4)Mn(CO)2C5H4R (X, XI) are obtained in almost quantitative yield. The X-ray structure of the complex C5Me5[P(OMe)3]Rh(μ-CO)2RhC5Me5 (III), which is structurally related to VI and VII, has been determined. The molecule contains an unsymmetrical, non-planar Rh2C2-skeleton with different Rh-C(O) bond lengths. The Rh-Rh distance is 268.5(1) pm; the planes of the two five-membered rings form an angle of 62.6°.

The reaction of [Rh(CO)2Cl]2 with 0.5 mol equivalent of the ligands [P(X)(CH2-CH2P(X)Ph2)3](PP3X4) {where X = O(a), S(b) and Se(c)} affords tetranuclear complexes of the type [Rh4(CO)8Cl4(PP3X4)] (1a-1c). The complexes 1a-1c have been characterized by elemental analyses, mass spectrometry, IR and multinuclear NMR spectroscopy, and the ligands b and c are structurally determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. 1a-1c undergo oxidative addition (OA) reactions with CH3I to generate Rh(III) oxidised products. Kinetic data for the reaction of 1a and 1b with excess CH3I indicate a pseudo first order reaction. The catalytic activity of 1a-1c for the carbonylation of methanol to acetic acid and its ester show a higher Turn Over Frequency (TOF = 1349-1748 h−1) compared to the well-known species [Rh(CO)2I2] (TOF = 1000 h−1) under the similar experimental conditions. However, 1b and 1c exhibit lower TOF than 1a, which may be due to the desulfurization and deselinization of the ligands in the respective complexes under the reaction conditions.

The reaction of the labile compound [Re2(CO)8(CH3CN)2] with 2,3-bis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine in dichloromethane solution at reflux temperature afforded the structural dirhenium isomers [Re2(CO)8(C14H10N4)] (1 and 2), and the complex [Re2(CO)8(C14H10N4)Re2(CO)8] (3). In 1, the ligand is σ,σ′-N,N′-coordinated to a Re(CO)3 fragment through pyridine and pyrazine to form a five-membered chelate ring. A seven-membered ring is obtained for isomer 2 by N-coordination of the 2-pyridyl groups while the pyrazine ring remains uncoordinated. For 2, isomers 2a and 2b are found in a dynamic equilibrium ratio [2a]/[2b]  =  7 in solution, detected by 1H NMR (−50 °C, CD3COCD3), coalescence being observed above room temperature. The ligand in 3 behaves as an 8e-donor bridge bonding two Re(CO)3 fragments through two (σ,σ′-N,N′) interactions. When the reaction was carried out in refluxing tetrahydrofuran, complex [Re2(CO)6(C14H10N4)2] (4) was obtained in addition to compounds 1-3. The dinuclear rhenium derivative 4 contains two units of the organic ligand σ,σ′-N,N′-coordinated in a chelate form to each rhenium core. The X-ray crystal structures for 1 and 3 are reported.

The objective of the present work was to synthesize mononuclear ruthenium complex [RuCl2(CO)2{Te(CH2SiMe3)2}2] (1) by the reaction of Te(CH2SiMe3)2 and [RuCl2(CO)3]2. However, the stoichiometric reaction affords a mixture of 1 and [RuCl2(CO){Te(CH2SiMe3)2}3] (2). The X-ray structures show the formation of the cis(Cl), cis(C), trans(Te) isomer of 1 and the cis(Cl), mer(Te) isomer of 2. The 125Te NMR spectra of the complexes are reported. The complex distribution depends on the initial molar ratio of the reactants. With an excess of [RuCl2(CO)3]2 only 1 is formed. In addition to the stoichiometric reaction, a mixture of 1 and 2 is observed even when using an excess of Te(CH2SiMe3)2. Complex 1 is, however, always the main product. In these cases the 125Te NMR spectra of the reaction solution also indicates the presence of unreacted ligand.

The complexes [Rh(CO)(PPh3){Ph2PNP(O)Ph2-P,O}] (3), [Rh(CO)2{Ph2P(Se)NP(Se)Ph2-Se,Se′}] (5), and [Rh(CO)(PPh3){Ph2P(Se)NP(Se)Ph2-Se,Se′}] (6), were synthesised by stepwise reactions of CO and PPh3 with [Rh(cod){Ph2PNP(O)Ph2-P,O}] (2) and [Rh(cod){Ph2P(Se)NP(Se)Ph2-Se,Se′}] (4), respectively. The complexes 3, 5 and 6 have been studied by IR, as well as 1H and 31P NMR spectroscopy. The ν(CO) bands of complexes 3 and 6 appear at approximately 1960 cm−1, indicating high electron density at the RhI centre. The structure of complexes 3 and 6 has been determined by X-ray crystallography, and the 31P NMR chemical shifts have been resolved via low temperature NMR experiments. Both complexes exhibit square planar geometry around the metal centre, with the five-membered ring of complex 3 being almost planar, and the six-membered ring of complex 6 adopting a slightly distorted boat conformation. The C-O bond of the carbonyl ligand is relatively weak in both complexes, due to strong π-back donation from the electron rich RhI centre. The catalytic activity of the complexes 2, 3 and 6 in the hydroformylation of styrene has been investigated. Complexes 2 and 3 showed satisfactory catalytic properties, whereas complex 6 had effectively no catalytic activity.
