Let be a family of meromorphic functions in a plane domain D, and a and b be finite non-zero complex values such that . If for and , then is normal. We also construct a non-normal family of meromorphic functions in the unit disk Δ={|z|<1} such that for every and in Δ, where m is a given positive integer. This answers Problem 5.1 in the works of Gu, Pang and Fang. The main goal of this paper is to prove the following statement. Let be a function holomorphic and of bounded characteristic in the unit disk , where E is a Λ(1)-subset of ℤ+. Assume that f has a pseudocontinuation of bounded characteristic to the annulus {zɛℂ:1<|z|<R}. Then f admits analytic continuation to the disk R . In particular, f is a polynomial if R=+∞. Let TR be the class of functions that are regular and typically real in the disk E={z:⋱z⋱<1}. For this class, the region of values of the system {f(z0), f(r)} for z0 ∈ ℝ, r∈(-1,1) is studied. It is shown that for each ε>0, all but a finite number of the zeros of the entire function lie in the strip and if Δ2 < 2λ, then all but a finite number of the zeros of e−λD2 f(z) are real and simple. As a consequence, de Bruijn's question whether the functions eγ t 2,λ>0, are strong universal factors is answered affirmatively. on the disk |z|≤1 and on the closed interval [−1, 1] by means of the orthogonal projection of on the set of rational functions of degreen. Moreover, the poles of the rational functions are chosen depending on the measure μ. For example, it is shown that if supp μ is compact and does not contain 1, then this approximation method is of best order. A general scheme which enables us to consider convolution operators with measures acting in a wide class of spaces of distributions on the interval [0, a), 0<a<∞, is represented. It is proved that if a measure μ is a weak generator of the algebra of measures on [0, a), then Cμ (the convolution operator with μ) is unicellular. We give a condition for a measure μ under which the unicellularity of Cμ implies that μ is a weak generator of the algebra of measures. The following statement is also proved. It is a well known open problem to obtain inequality analogous to Bernstein’s inequality for the class IIn of polynomials satisfying p(z)≡znp(1/z). We study the structural properties of the class Mk,λ,b(k≥2, 0≤λ≤1, b∈ℂ\{0}) of functions f(z)=z+ ... which are regular in |z|<1 and satisfy the conditions f(z)f′(z)z−1≠0 and , where J(z)=λ(1+b−1zf″(z)/f′(z)+(1−λ)(b−1zf′(z)/f(z)+1−b−1).
