We report the investigations of spin wave modes of arrays of Ni and Co nanorods using Brillouin light scattering. We have revealed the significant influence of spin wave modes along the nanorod axis in contrast to infinite magnetic nanowires. Unusual optical properties featuring an inverted Stokes/anti-Stokes asymmetry of the Brillouin scattering spectra have been observed. The spectrum of spin wave modes in the nanorod array has been calculated and compared with the experiment. Experimental observations are explained in terms of a combined numerical–analytical approach taking into account both the low aspect ratio of individual magnetic nanorods and dipolar magnetic coupling between the nanorods in the array. The optical studies of spin-wave modes in nanorod metamaterials with low aspect ratio nanorods have revealed new magnetic and magneto-optical properties compared to continuous magnetic films or infinite magnetic nanowires. Such magnetic artificial materials are important class of active metamaterials needed for prospective data storage and signal processing applications.  相似文献

Brillouin light spectra in water was experimentally investigated by a scanning Fabry-Perot interferometer. The optical properties of the scattering media were modulated by a plane ultrasound wave. An enhancement up to 10 times of the Brillouin signal by modulation with the ultrasound wave has been seen clearly. The dependence of the Brillouin signal amplitude on the ultrasound frequency, amplitude and the position of the ultrasound field based to the light beam was investigated experimentally. Very strong dependence of the enhancement with experimental conditions was obtained.  相似文献

在室温下利用直流磁控溅射法制备出了具有不同Co层厚度的 [Co(dConm) /Ti(dTinm) ]n 金属磁性多层膜 (其中dCoanddTi是Co和Ti的厚度 ,n薄膜调制周期数 )。在 30 0K下用X射线衍射法 (XRD)和布里渊散射方法研究了Co层厚度分别为dCo=1 ,2 ,2 5 ,3 5nm ,Ti层厚度为dTi=2 5nm的Co/Ti多层膜。XRD的结果所示在Co/Ti多层膜中Co层厚度超过 2 5nm ,其结构类似块材Co的多晶结构。对比之下 ,Co/Ti多层膜中Co层厚度低于 2 5nm ,其XRD衍射峰随Co层厚度减少变的峰形加宽 ,衍射峰的强度减少 ,峰位移动和消失。在Co/Ti多层膜中自旋波的布里渊散射结果表明 :在Co/Ti多层膜中 ,对于dCo>2 5nm磁性呈铁磁性耦合 ,在dCo≤ 2 5nm时 ,其呈反铁磁性耦合。除表面自旋波外 ,在呈反铁磁性耦合的材料中观测到了两个有体特征的自旋波 ,而在呈铁磁耦合的材料中只观测到一个有体特征的自旋波。  相似文献

Thin films of La0.7A0.3MnO3 (A=Ce, Ca, and Sr) and La0.55Ho0.15Sr0.3MnO3 manganites have been investigated by Brillouin light scattering at room temperature. The phonon spectra for the Ce-doped sample showed an interesting three-peak structure at frequency shifts of 11.4, 13.8 and 16.1 GHz, with negligible dispersion and in-plane anisotropy. For a fixed scattering angle, the phonon spectrum of the other samples showed a broad peak at a smaller frequency (<10 GHz). It is shown that the observed phonon frequency decreases with increasing ionic character of the La–Mn bonds resulting from the replacement of part of the atoms of La by Ce, Ca, Sr and Ho.  相似文献

An overview of the current status of the study of spin-wave excitations in arrays of magnetic dots and wires is given. We describe both the status of theory and recent inelastic light scattering experiments addressing the three most important issues: the modification of magnetic properties by patterning due to shape anisotropies, anisotropic coupling between magnetic islands, and the quantization of spin waves due to the in-plane confinement of spin waves in islands.  相似文献

全光连续可调的慢光技术在全光网络和光信息处理等领域具有重要的应用前景. 利用自行设计并拉制的高非线性微结构光纤, 实验研究了基于受激布里渊散射的可调谐慢光延迟. 采用单抽运光和单级延迟方案, 当抽运光功率为162.6 mW时, 在长度为120 m的高非线性微结构光纤中获得了最大76 ns的延迟量, 相当于0.76个脉冲宽度. 通过调节抽运光功率的大小, 可以实现对慢光延迟量的可调谐.该慢光延迟方案具有延迟量大、 全光可调谐及与现有光通信系统兼容等优势. 关键词: 慢光 微结构光纤 受激布里渊散射  相似文献

It is shown that magnetic surface mode frequencies in the amorphous ferromagnet Fe40Ni40B20 measured using Brillouin light scattering depend upon the incident laser light intensity: presumably due to local heating of the specimen due to the concentration of the light flux into a focal spot only a few microns in diameter. Surface mode frequencies extrapolated to zero light intensity are shown to be consistent with magnetic parameters measured using ferromagnetic resonance at 35.731 GHz to within ±0.5 GHz for specimens of amorphous Fe40Ni40B20. 0.5 GHz corresponds to a change of 0.17 kG in the saturation magnetization, 4πMs.  相似文献

Summary We have performed extensive studies of a three-component microemulsion system composed of AOT-water-decane (AOT=sodium-bis-ethylhexyl-sulfosuccinate is an ionic surfactant) using small-angle light scattering (SALS). The small-angle scattering intensities are measured in the angular interval 0.001–0.1 radians, corresponding to a Bragg wave number range of 0.14 μm−1<Q<<1.4 μm−1. The measurements were made by changing temperature and volume fraction ϕ of the dispersed phase (water + AOT) in the range 0.05<ϕ<0.75. All samples have a fixed water-to-AOT molar ratio,w=[water]/[AOT]=40.8, in order to keep the same average droplet size in the stable one-phase region. With the SALS technique, we have been able to observe all the phase boundaries of a very complex phase diagram with a percolation line and many structural organizations within it. We observe at the percolation transition threshold, a scaling behavior of the intensity data. This behavior is a consequence of a clustering among microemulsion droplets near the percolation threshold. In addition, we describe in detail a structural transition from a droplet microemulsion to a bicontinuous one as suggested by a recent small-angle neutron scattering experiment. The loci of this transition are located several degrees above the percolation temperatures and are coincident with the maxima previously observed in shear viscosity. From the data analysis, we show that both the percolation phenomenon and this novel structural transition are derived from a large-scale aggregation between microemulsion droplets.  相似文献

We demonstrate a single optical timing module that can provide both tunable delay and advancement with low distortion using a reconfigurable gain medium based on stimulated Brillouin scattering. Dual-stage intensity modulation method is used to achieve optimized gain profiles for both slow- and fast-light operation. Using 6.5 ns Gaussian pulses, we demonstrate a continuous temporal adjustment from a fractional advancement of 0.31 to a fractional delay of 0.82, giving more than a full pulse width of total tunability.  相似文献

The surface acoustic wave velocity in InN has been experimentally determined by means of Brillouin scattering experiments on c ‐ and m ‐face epilayers. From simulations based on the Green's function formalism we determine the shear elastic constants c66 and c44 and propose a complete set of elastic constants for wurtzite InN. The analysis of the sagittal and azimuthal dependence of the surface acoustic wave velocity indicates a slightly different elastic behavior of the m ‐face sample that basically affects the c44 elastic constant. 在对水中受激布里渊散射阈值的研究中,针对传统定义上的不足,提出一种新的定义和新的测量方法.测量了不同能量的光束在不同长度的水介质中传输,在宽线宽和窄线宽情况下水的衰减系数.通过水的衰减系数的变化来确定不同情况下受激布里渊散射的阈值.试验发现,水中的受激布里渊阈值在理想稳态和理想瞬态下是一个常数,只与泵浦激光和介质属性有关,和介质长度无关;在中间情况下,受激布里渊阈值是否与介质长度有关,还要根据具体情况来分析.  相似文献

在"星光Ⅱ"钕玻璃激光装置上,开展了脉宽约0.8ns、能量~70J的351nm激光在不同条件下辐照Au盘靶的实验,研究了激光光束质量对受激布里渊散射(SBS)谱的影响。SBS散射光谱测量结果表明,在激光束未匀滑条件下,SBS散射谱范围为352~360nm;在采用透镜列阵将激光束匀滑聚焦的条件下,激光等离子体密度变得更加均匀,SBS散射光谱范围变为351~351.5nm。实验数据为透镜列阵对光束的匀滑效果提供了直接支持。  相似文献

Devices for the collection of Brillouin scattered light in liquids are discussed. Optical systems have hitherto employed conical mirrors; their angular acceptance functions are presented. Novel devices proposed and discussed are the cylinder lens and the “scattering tube” (a cylindrical mirror). Results of applications are reported. Temperature and strain sensitivities of surface acoustic wave (SAW) and hybrid acoustic wave (HAW) Brillouin scattering (BS) in 1 μm-1.3 μm diameter optical microfibers are simulated. In contrast to stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) from bulk acoustic wave in standard optical fiber, SAW and HAW BS, due to SAWs and HAWs induced by the coupling of longitudinal and shear waves and propagating along the surface and core of microfiber respectively, facilitate innovative detection in optical microfibers sensing. The highest temperature and strain sensitivities of the hybrid acoustic modes (HAMs) are 1.082 MHz/℃ and 0.0289 MHz/με, respectively, which is suitable for microfiber sensing application of high temperature and strain resolutions. Meanwhile, the temperature and strain sensitivities of the SAMs are less affected by fiber diameter changes, ranging from 0.05 MHz/℃/μ to 0.25 MHz/℃/μ and 1×10-4 MHz/με/μ to 5×10-4 MHz/με/μ, respectively. It can be found that that SAW BS for temperature and strain sensing would put less stress on manufacturing constraints for optical microfibers. Besides, the simultaneous sensing of temperature and strain can be realized by SAW and HAW BS, with temperature and strain errors as low as 0.30 ℃-0.34 ℃ and 14.47 με-16.25 με.  相似文献

The optical limiting effect based on stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) in a nonlinear medium was investigated. We numerically treated the nonlinear propagation process with a theoretical model, which includes the spontaneous nature of the initiation of SBS, and obtained optical limiting effect in the process. Energy limiting, pulse reshaping and stabilization have been demonstrated on SBS mechanism with the nonlinear medium CCl_4. The input optical signals were Nd:YAG nanosecond laser pulses with width varying from 16ns to 7ns then to 2ns, the relationship between the transmitted signal and launched pump signal was shown. In the experimental regime, the most stable pulse and a superior energy stabilization of the transmitted pulse were obtained when the laser pulse-width became as short as 2ns. For the energy variation of laser pulses in a wide range of 14-88mJ, the output energy was limited in a quite narrow range 4.5-5.5mJ.  相似文献

Abstract

The scattering of light by elementar excitations in the matter is results in two phenomena, discriminated by the zero wavevector frequency of the excitation: if this frequency is zero, one deals with Brillouin scattering, and with Raman scattering in the other case. Brillouin scattering results from the interaction of light with thermal excitations (acoustic phonons in a crystal) of a material, or, from a classical point of view, with density waves. Contrary to Raman scattering, the selection rules allow always the observation of at least one mode. It is a powerful technic in the study of rare gases under pressure: at ambient temperature, rare gases crystallize in the face centered cubic structure (except helium which structure was recently found to be hexagonal) and are therefore Raman and infrared inactive.

Experimental results will be reviewed on rare gases and rare gas mixtures in the fluid phase, like He-Ne and He-H2. These results will be discussed in relation with recent measurements of the frequency of global oscillations of Jupiter.  相似文献

A new method for measuring the threshold of stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) based on the generation location of a Stokes beam is proposed for the first time to our knowledge. The length of the medium cell is selected to be longer than the free gain length of pump pulses in the Brillouin medium. The reflected light from a certain mirror in front of the medium cell is chosen as the reference beam, and the SBS threshold is measured by the "jump" of the delay between the Stokes beam and the reference beam. An 8-ns Q-switched single-longitudinal-mode pulse is used as the pump and the typical SBS medium FC-72 is selected as the nonlinear medium in our experiment. The SBS threshold intensity is measured to be 173-178 mW/cm 2 , which is consistent with existing results measured with the transmitted energy limiting method.  相似文献

Abstract

Brillouin scattering has been used to study methanol as a function of pressure up to 8.4 GPa. Our near-forward-scattering experiments yield the pressure dependence of the velocity of longitudinal acoustic (LA) phonons, while we determine the pressure dependence of the product of the index of refraction and the LA phonon velocity from our backscattering experiments. The pressure dependence of the LA phonon lifetimes is obtained from the linewidth of the measured Brillouin peaks. From our backscattering experiments we find that the normalized phonon attenuation is a decreasing function of pressure.  相似文献
