The paper deals with interpolation orbits for linear operators acting from a arbitrary couple { (U 0), (U 1)} of weighted L p spaces into an arbitrary couple { (V 0), (V 1)} of such spaces, where 1 p 0,p 1,q 0,q 1 . Here L p (U) is the space of measurable functions f on a measure space such that fU L p , equipped with the norm . The paper describes the orbits of arbitrary elements a (U 0) + (U 1). It contains proofs of the results announced in C. R. Acad. Sci. Paris, Ser. I, 334, 881–884 (2002).__________Translated from Funktsionalnyi Analiz i Ego Prilozheniya, Vol. 39, No. 1, pp. 56–68, 2005Original Russian Text Copyright © by V. I. OvchinnikovTranslated by V. I. A sequence : 0 satisfiesHoeffding's inequality of order n if wheneverX 1,...,X n are independent nonnegative integer-valued elementary random variables and are independent identically distributed nonnegative integer-valued elementary random variables, the common distribution of which is the average of those ofX 1,...,X n. We show that for each integerm greater than 2 there exists a sequence satisfying Hoeffding's inequality of every order greater thanm but not that of orderm. This answers a question raised by Berg, Christensen, and Ressel.  相似文献

For a cardinal , we say that a subset B of a space X is C -compact in X if for every continuous function is a compact subset of . If B is a C-compact subset of a space X, then (B, X) denotes the degree of C -compactness of B in X. A space X is called -pseudocompact if X is C -compact into itself. For each cardinal , we give an example of an -pseudocompact space X such that X × X is not pseudocompact: this answers a question posed by T. Retta in Some cardinal generalizations of pseudocompactness Czechoslovak Math. J. 43 (1993), 385–390. The boundedness of the product of two bounded subsets is studied in some particular cases. A version of the classical Glicksberg's Theorem on the pseudocompactness of the product of two spaces is given in the context of boundedness. This theorem is applied to several particular cases.  相似文献

In this paper, we deal with the following generalized quasi-variational inequality problem: given a closed convex subsetX n , a multifunction :X 2 n and a multifunction :X 2 X , find a point ( ) X × n such that We prove an existence theorem in which, in particular, the multifunction is not supposed to be upper semicontinuous.  相似文献

We study operators (not necessarily linear) defined on a quasi-Bahach space X and taking values in the space of real-valued Lebesgue-measurable functions. Factorization theorems for linear and superlinear operators with values in the space are proved with the help of the Lorentz sequence spaces . Sequences of functions belonging to fixed bounded sets in the spaces are characterized for and . The possibility of distinguishing weak type operators (bounded in the space ) from operators factorizable through is obtained in terms of sequences of independent random variables. A criterion under which an operator is symmetrically bounded in order in , is established. Some refinements of the above-mentioned results are obtained for translation shift-invariant sets and operators. Bibliography: 30 titles.  相似文献

Given a nonempty set and two multifunctions , we consider the following generalized quasi-variational inequality problem associated with X, : Find such that . We prove several existence results in which the multifunction is not supposed to have any continuity property. Among others, we extend the results obtained in Ref. 1 for the case (x(X.  相似文献

Let Z t , t 0 be a strictly stable process on with index (0, 2]. We prove that for every p > , there exists = , p and such that
where || Z|| p stands for the strong p-variation of Z on [0,1]. The critical exponent p , takes a different shape according as | Z| is a subordinator and p > 1, or not. The small ball constant is explicitly computed when p > 1, and a lower bound on is easily obtained in the general case. In the symmetric case and when p > 2, we can also give an upper bound on in terms of the Brownian small ball constant under the (1/p)-Höder semi-norm. Along the way, we remark that the positive random variable is not necessarily stable when p > 1, which gives a negative answer to an old question of P. E. Greenwood.10  相似文献

The number of subgroups of type and cotype in a finite abelian p-group of type is a polynomialg with integral coefficients. We prove g has nonnegative coefficients for all partitions and if and only if no two parts of differ by more than one. Necessity follows from a few simple facts about Hall-Littlewood symmetric functions; sufficiency relies on properties of certain order-preserving surjections that associate to each subgroup a vector dominated componentwise by . The nonzero components of (H) are the parts of , the type of H; if no two parts of differ by more than one, the nonzero components of – (H) are the parts of , the cotype of H. In fact, we provide an order-theoretic characterization of those isomorphism types of finite abelian p-groups all of whose Hall polynomials have nonnegative coefficients.  相似文献

Summary Given a Markov chain (X n ) n0, random times are studied which are birth times or death times in the sense that the post- and pre- processes are independent given the present (X –1, X ) at time and the conditional post- process (birth times) or the conditional pre- process (death times) is again Markovian. The main result for birth times characterizes all time substitutions through homogeneous random sets with the property that all points in the set are birth times. The main result for death times is the dual of this and appears as the birth time theorem with the direction of time reversed.Part of this work was done while the author was visiting the Department of Mathematics, University of California at San DiegoThe support of The Danish Natural Science Research Council is gratefully acknowledged  相似文献

Let be a barreled locally convex space. A continuous operator on is called anequicontinuous generator if { n /n!;n=0,1,2,...} is an equicontinuous family of operators. For each equicontinuous generator a one-parameter group of operators is constructed by means of power series. There is a one-to-one correspondence between the equicontinuous generators and the locally equicontinuous holomorphic one-parameter groups of operators. If two equicontinuous generators 1, 2 satisfy [1,2]=2 for some thena1+b2 is also an equicontinuous generator for anya, b. These general results are applied to a study of operators on white noise functions. In particular, a linear combination of the number operator and the Gross Laplacian, which are natural infinite dimensional analogues of a finite dimensional Laplacian, is always an equicontinuous generator. This result contributes to the Cauchy problems in white noise (Gaussian) space.Work supported by Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung and Japan Society for Promotion of Sciences  相似文献

Let A={a1,...,an} and B={b1,...,bm} be systems of distinct points in , let be a family of homotopic classes Hi,i=1,..., j+m, of closed Jordan curves on, where the classes Hj+l, l=1,...,m, consist of curves that are homotopic to a point curve in b. Let =1,..., j+m be a system of positive numbers and letU be the modulus of the extremal-metric problem for the family and the system . In this paper we investigate the dependence of the modulusU=U(,A,B) on the parameters i and on the disposition of the points ak and b. One shows thatU is a smooth function of the indicated arguments and one obtains expressions for the derivatives U, U, and U. One gives some applications of these results.Translated from Zapiski Nauchnykh Seminarov Leningradskogo Otdeleniya Matematicheskogo Instituta im. V. A. Since the genus of the modular curve X_1 (8) = _1 (8) * is zero, we find a field generator j 1,8(z) = 3(2z)/3(4z) (3(z) := n ein 2z ) such that the function field over X 1(8) is (j 1,8). We apply this modular function j 1,8 to the construction of some class fields over an imaginary quadratic field K, and compute the minimal polynomial of the singular value of the Hauptmodul N(j 1,8) of (j 1,8).  相似文献

If denotes the curvature and the torsion of a closed, generic, and oriented polygonal space curve X in , then we show that X (2 + 2) ds = X ds + X | | ds > 4 if is positive. We also show that X (2 + 2) ds 2n if no four consecutive vertices lie in a plane and X has linking number n with a straight line. These extend theorems of Milnor and Totaro.  相似文献

Given two finite sets of points X + and X in n , the maximum box problem consists of finding an interval (box) B = {x : l x u} such that B X = , and the cardinality of B X + is maximized. A simple generalization can be obtained by instead maximizing a weighted sum of the elements of B X +. While polynomial for any fixed n, the maximum box problem is -hard in general. We construct an efficient branch-and-bound algorithm for this problem and apply it to a standard problem in data analysis. We test this method on nine data sets, seven of which are drawn from the UCI standard machine learning repository.  相似文献

LetX be the solution of the SDE:dX t = (X t)dB t +b(X t)dt, with andb C b (R) such that >0 for some constant , andB a real Brownian motion. Let be the law ofX onE=C([0, 1],R) andk E* – {0}, whereE* is the topological dual space ofE. Consider the classical form: k (u, v)=u / kv / kd, whereu andv are smooth functions onE. We prove that, if k is closable for anyk in a dense subset ofE* and if the smooth functions are contained in the domain of the generator of the closure of k , must be a constant function.  相似文献

For a finite morphism f : X Y of smooth varieties such that f maps X birationally onto X=f(X), the local equations of f are obtained at the double points which are not triple. If C is the conductor of X over X, and are the subschemes defined by C, then D and are shown to be complete intersections at these points, provided that C has the expected codimension. This leads one to determine the depth of local rings of X at these double points. On the other hand, when C is reduced in X, it is proved that X is weakly normal at these points, and some global results are given. For the case of affine spaces, the local equations of X at these points are computed.  相似文献
