Some formulas for well‐defined solutions to four very special cases of a nonlinear fifth‐order difference equation have been presented recently in this journal, where some of them were proved by the method of induction, some are only quoted, and no any theory behind the formulas was given. Here, we show in an elegant constructive way how the general solution to the difference equation can be obtained, from which the special cases very easily follow, which is also demonstrated here. We also give some comments on the local stability results on the special cases of the nonlinear fifth‐order difference equation previously publish in this journal.  相似文献

We study by topological methods a nonlinear differential equation generalizing the Black-Scholes formula for an option pricing model with stochastic volatility. We prove the existence of at least a solution of the stationary Dirichlet problem applying an upper and lower solutions method. Moreover, we construct a solution by an iterative procedure.  相似文献

We discuss solvability for the semilinear equation of the vibrating string xtt(t,y)−Δx(t,y)+f(t,y,x(t,y))=0 in a bounded domain, and certain type of nonlinearity on the boundary. Here we review some results of J.-H. Lee of theN×N Zakharov-Shabat system with a polynomial spectral parameter. We define a scattering transform following the set-up of Beals-Coifman [2]. In the 2×2 cases, we modify the Kaup-Newell and Kuznetsov-Mikhailov system to assure the normalization with respect to the spectral parameter. Then we are able to apply the technique of Zakharov-Shabat for the solitons of NLS to our cases. In this paper we study nonlinear elliptic differential equations driven by the p-Laplacian with unilateral constraints produced by the combined effects of a monotone term and of a nonmonotone term (variational-hemivariational inequality). Our approach is variational and uses the subdifferential theory of nonsmooth functions and the theory of accretive and monotone operators. Also using these ideas and a special choice of the monotone term, we prove the existence of a strictly positive smooth solution for a class of nonlinear equations with nonsmooth potential (hemivariational inequality).  相似文献

The article considers the problem of determining the solution-dependent coefficient of heat conductivity in a stationary nonlinear equation of heat conduction containing a parameter. Additional information for the determination of heat conductivity is provided by a function dependent on a parameter, which is obtained by solving a boundary-value problem. We consider a nonlinear system of integral equations describing the structure of a plane shock wave. Based on physical reasoning, we propose an iterative method for constructing an approximate solution of this system. The problem reduces to studying decoupled scalar nonlinear and linear integral equations for the gas temperature, density, and velocity. We formulate a theorem on the existence of a positive bounded solution of a nonlinear equation of the Uryson type. We also prove theorems on the existence and uniqueness of bounded positive solutions for linear integral equations in the space L 1[?r, r] for all finite r < +∞. For a more general nonlinear integral equation, we prove a theorem on the existence of a positive solution and also find a lower bound and an integral upper bound for the constructed solution.  相似文献
