Gauge potential plays an important role in exploring exotic phenomena in the single- and many-body quantum systems. In this paper, we propose a scheme to create both new Abelian and non-Abelian gauge potentials by adiabatically controlling the degenerate Dicke model in cavity quantum electrodynamics. It is shown that a non-Abelian gauge potential is achieved only for a single atom, whereas an Abelianizen diagonal gauge potential is realized for the atomic ensemble. More importantly, two interesting quantum phenomena such as the geometric phase and the magnetic monopole induced by our created gauge potentials are also predicted. The possible physical realization is presented in the macroscopic circuit quantum electrodynamics with the Cooper pair boxes, which act as the artificial two-level atoms controlled by the gate voltage and the external magnetic flux.  相似文献

We construct the loop transform in the case of Abelian gauge theories as a unitary operator given by the inductive limit of Fourier transforms on tori. We also show that its range, i.e. the space of kinematical states of the quantum loop representation, is the Hilbert space of square integrable complex valued functions on the group of hoops.  相似文献

A review of some recent papers on gauge theories of weak and strong gravity is presented. For weak gravity, SL(2, C) gauge theory along with tetrad formulation is described which yields massless spin-2 gauge fields (quanta gravitons). Next a unified SL(2n,C) model is discussed along with Higgs fields. Its internal symmetry is SU(n). The free field solutions after symmetry breaking yield massless spin-1 (photons) and spin-2 (gravitons) gauge fields and also massive spin-1 and spin-2 bosons. The massive spin-2 gauge fields are responsible for short range superstrong gravity. Higgs-fermion interaction can lead to baryon and lepton number non-conservation. The relationship of strong gravity with other forces is also briefly considered.  相似文献

The values of the Higgs mass are obtained for two possibilities of extending the standard model in a way compatible with the existence of a noncommutative structure at high energies. We assume the existence of a big desert between the low energy electroweak scale and the high energy scale Λ=1.1×1017 GeV, where noncommutative features become relevant. We conclude that it is extremely difficult to depart from the Higgs mass value obtained from noncommutative geometry for the standard model with three generations only.  相似文献

The quantum action (dynamical) principle is exploited to investigate the nature and origin of the Faddeev–Popov (FP) factor in gauge theories without recourse to path integrals. Gauge invariant as well as gauge non-invariant interactions are considered to show that the FP factor needs to be modified in more general cases and expressions for these modifications are derived. Integrable systems underlying the Seiberg-Witten solutions for the N = 2 SQCD with gauge groups SO(n) and Sp(n) are proposed. They are described by the inhomogeneous XXX spin chain with specific boundary conditions given by reflection matrices. We attribute reflection matrices to orientifold planes in the brane construction and briefly discuss its possible deformations.  相似文献

For a sigma model of AKSZ type, we show that the local BRST cohomology is isomorphic to the cohomology of the target space differential when restricted to coordinate neighborhoods both in the base and in the target. An analogous result is shown to hold for the cohomology in the space of functional multivectors. Applications of these latter cohomology classes in the context of the inverse problem of the calculus of variation for general gauge systems are also discussed.  相似文献

We propose a systematic procedure for extracting gauge invariant and gauge fixed actions for various higher-spin gauge field theories from covariant bosonic open string field theory. By identifying minimal gauge invariant part for the original free string field theory action, we explicitly construct a class of covariantly gauge fixed actions with BRST and anti-BRST invariance. By expanding the actions with respect to the level N   of string states, the actions for various massive fields including higher-spin fields are systematically obtained. As illustrating examples, we explicitly investigate the level N?3N?3 part and obtain the consistent actions for massive graviton field, massive 3rd rank symmetric tensor field, or anti-symmetric field. We also investigate the tensionless limit of the actions and explicitly derive the gauge invariant and gauge fixed actions for general rank n symmetric and anti-symmetric tensor fields.  相似文献

A new kind of gauge theory is introduced, where the minimal coupling and corresponding covariant derivatives are defined in the space of functions pertaining to the functional Schrödinger picture of a given field theory. While, for simplicity, we study the example of a \(\mathcal{U}(1)\) symmetry, this kind of gauge theory can accommodate other symmetries as well. We consider the resulting relativistic nonlinear extension of quantum mechanics and show that it incorporates gravity in the (0+1)-dimensional limit, similar to recently studied Schrödinger-Newton equations. Gravity is encoded here into a universal nonlinear extension of quantum theory. A probabilistic interpretation (Born’s rule) holds, provided the underlying model is scale free.  相似文献

Gauge theories that have been first quantized using the Hamiltonian BRST operator formalism are described as classical Hamiltonian BRST systems with a BRST charge of the form and with natural ghost and parity degrees for all fields. The associated proper solution of the classical Batalin-Vilkovisky master equation is constructed from first principles. Both of these formulations can be used as starting points for second quantization. According to a widespread view, the Bell theorem establishes the untenability of so-called ‘local realism’. On the basis of this view, recent proposals by Leggett, Zeilinger and others have been developed according to which it can be proved that even some non-local realistic theories have to be ruled out. As a consequence, within this view the Bell theorem allows one to establish that no reasonable form of realism, be it local or non-local, can be made compatible with the (experimentally tested) predictions of quantum mechanics. In the present paper it is argued that the Bell theorem has demonstrably nothing to do with the ‘realism’ as defined by these authors and that, as a consequence, their conclusions about the foundational significance of the Bell theorem are unjustified.  相似文献

The epistemological credo of Einstein is further developed and specified in greater detail for practical applications. The results are applied to quasi-historical creation processes of established physical theories and to current theories for elementary particles. The outcome of these applications is then considered from epistemological viewpoints. Reasons underlying the basic difficulties of the current main stream particle theory, the standard model, are given. A method for determining the orbit types of the action of the group of gauge transformations on the space of connections for gauge theories with gauge group SU(n) in spacetime dimension d4 is presented. The method is based on the one-to-one correspondence between orbit types and holonomy-induced reductions of the underlying principal SU(n)-bundle. It is shown that the orbit types are labelled by certain cohomology elements of spacetime satisfying two relations. Thus, for every principal SU(n)-bundle the corresponding stratification of the gauge orbit space can be explicitly determined. As an application, a criterion characterizing kinematical nodes for physical states in Yang–Mills theory with the Chern–Simons term proposed by Asorey et al. is discussed.  相似文献

In lattice gauge theories, the renormalization transformation and its properties are formally defined and formally proved by making use of Dirac's function and its properties. In this Letter, we shall give a mathematically rigorous definition of a renormalization transformation for lattice pure gauge field theories and show the required properties, which are use to show ultraviolet stability of lattice gauge theories.  相似文献
