We have studied the behavior of the thermal expansion coefficient α(T) (in a zero magnetic field and at H≈4 T), the heat capacity C(T), and the thermal conductivity κ(T) of magnesium boride (MgB2) in the vicinity of Tc and at lower temperatures. It was established that MgB2, like oxide-based high-temperature superconductors, exhibits a negative thermal expansion coefficient at low temperatures. The anomaly of α(T) in MgB2 is significantly affected by the magnetic field. It was established that, in addition to the well-known superconducting transition at Tc≈40 K, MgB2 exhibits an anomalous behavior of both heat capacity and thermal conductivity in the region of T≈10–12 K. The anomalies of C(T) and κ(T) take place in the same temperature interval where the thermal expansion coefficient of MgB2 becomes negative. The low-temperature anomalies are related to the presence of a second group of charge carriers in MgB2 and to an increase in the density of the Bose condensate corresponding to these carriers at Tc2≈10–12 K.  相似文献

The temperature dependences of the specific heat C(T) and thermal conductivity K(T) of MgB2 were measured at low temperatures and in the neighborhood of T c . In addition to the well-known superconducting transition at T c ≈40 K, this compound was found to exhibit anomalous behavior of both the specific heat and thermal conductivity at lower temperatures, T≈10–12 K. Note that the anomalous behavior of C(T) and K(T) is observed in the same temperature region where MgB2 was found to undergo negative thermal expansion. All the observed low-temperature anomalies are assigned to the existence in MgB2 of a second group of carriers and its transition to the superconducting state at Tc2≈10?12 K.  相似文献

The magnetization M(H) in the superconducting state, dc magnetic susceptibility χ(T) in the normal state, and specific heat C(T) near the superconducting transition temperature T c have been measured for a series of fine-crystalline YBa2Cu3O y samples having nearly optimum values of y = 6.93 ± 0.3 and T c = (91.5 ± 0.5) K. The samples differ only in the degree of nanoscale structural inhomogeneity. The characteristic parameters of superconductors (the London penetration depth and the Ginzburg–Landau parameter) and the thermodynamic critical field H c are determined by the analysis of the magnetization curves M(H). It is found that the increase in the degree of nanoscale structural inhomogeneity leads to an increase in the characteristic parameters of superconductors and a decrease in H c(T) and the jump of the specific heat ΔC/T c. It is shown that the changes in the physical characteristics are caused by the suppression of the density of states near the Fermi level. The pseudogap is estimated by analyzing χ(T). It is found that the nanoscale structural inhomogeneity significantly enhances and probably even creates the pseudogap regime in the optimally doped high-T c superconductors.  相似文献

We report on the synthesis and measurements of the temperature dependences of the resistivity ρ, the penetration depth λ, and the upper critical magnetic field Hc2, for polycrystalline samples of dodecaboride ZrB12 and diboride MgB2. We conclude that ZrB12 behaves as a simple metal in the normal state with the usual Bloch-Grüneisen temperature dependence of ρ(T) and with a rather low resistive Debye temperature TR = 280 K (to be compared to TR = 900 K for MgB2). The ρ(T) and λ(T) dependences for these samples reveal a superconducting transition in ZrB12 at Tc = 6.0 K. Although a clear exponential λ(T) dependence in MgB2 thin films and ceramic pellets was observed at low temperatures, this dependence was almost linear for ZrB12 below Tc/2. These features indicate an s-wave pairing state in MgB2, whereas a d-wave pairing state is possible in ZrB12. In disagreement with conventional theories, we found a linear temperature dependence, of Hc2(T) for ZrB12 (Hc2(0) = 0.15 T).  相似文献

Magnetization M(H,T) in magnetic fields H up to 90 kOe and at temperatures 2 K ≤ T < T c (where Tc is the superconducting transition temperature), along with magnetic susceptibility χ(T) in the normal state T c < T < 400 K for optimally oxygen-doped samples of YBa2Cu3O6.92 with varying degrees of defects in the crystal structure, are studied to determine the influence of structural inhomogeneity on the electron systems characteristics of cuprate superconductors. It is shown that the existence of structural inhomogeneity of samples leads to the manifestation of peculiarities appropriate to pseudogap regime in their properties.  相似文献

It is shown for the first time that the superconducting transition in optimally doped Y- and Bi-based high-T c superconductors is preceded by the Lifshitz topological transition in their electron systems. A intense hole-electron conversion occurring in the system of charge carriers at T = T c + (~10 K) is a clear cut signature of such transition.  相似文献

Magnetic flux structure on the surface of EuFe2(As1-x P x )2 single crystals with nearly optimal phosphorus doping levels x = 0.20 and x = 0.21 is studied by low-temperature magnetic force microscopy and decoration with ferromagnetic nanoparticles. The studies are performed in a broad temperature range. It is shown that the single crystal with x = 0.21 in the temperature range between the critical temperatures T SC= 22 K and T C = (18 ± 0.3) K of the superconducting and ferromagnetic phase transitions, respectively, has the vortex structure of a frozen magnetic flux, typical for type-II superconductors. The magnetic domain structure is observed in the superconducting state below T C. The nature of this structure is discussed.  相似文献

It has been experimentally established that the nanoscale structural inhomogeneity, inherent in fine-grained (0.4 ≤ 〈D〉 ≤ 2μm) high-temperature superconductors YBa2Cu3O y (y ≈ 6.92, T C ≈ 92 K) and manifesting itself in partial interplane redistribution of oxygen [1, 2], changes the density of states near the Fermi level and decreases the coherence length and density of superconducting carriers in CuO2 planes. The revealed relationship between the changes in these characteristics with respect to their equilibrium values corresponds to the relationship that might occur for conventional superconductors.  相似文献

We have analyzed the temperature and magnetic-field dependences of resistivity ρ(T, H) of semiconducting compound Pb0.45Sn0.55Te doped with 5 at % In under a hydrostatic compression at P < 12 kbar. It is found that the temperature dependence ρ(T) at all pressures at T < 100 K is exponential with the activation energy decreasing upon an increase in pressure; this is accompanied with a superconducting transition on the ρ(T) and ρ(H) dependences at P > 4.8 kbar at T > 1 K (T c = 1.72 K at a level of 0.5ρ N at P = 6.8 kbar). We consider the model describing the low-temperature “dielectrization” of the semiconducting solid solution and the formation of the superconducting state upon an increase in the hydrostatic compression P > 4 kbar.  相似文献

The thermal expansion coefficient α(T) of MgB2 was measured at low temperatures both in a zero magnetic field and at H=36 kOe. As in the oxide HTSCs, a region of anomalous (negative) thermal expansion and a strong effect of magnetic field on α(T) were revealed. The results obtained indicate the anomalous properties of MgB2 and the oxide HTSCs to follow a common pattern.  相似文献

We report on measurements of the temperature dependence of resistivity, ρ(T), for single-crystal samples of ZrB12, ZrB2, and polycrystalline samples of MgB2. It is shown that the cluster compound ZrB12 behaves as a simple metal in the normal state, with a typical Bloch-Grüneisen ρ(T) dependence. However, the resistive Debye temperature, TR=300 K, is three times smaller than TD obtained from specific heat data. We observe the T2 term in ρ(T) of all these borides, which could be interpreted as an indication of strong electron-electron interaction.  相似文献

The possibility of preparing bicrystalline Josephson junctions and bolometers based on superconducting MgB2 on specially prepared bicrystalline MgO substrates is investigated. Microbridges 0.85–6.00 μm in width, intersecting the bicrystalline interface, are formed in epitaxial bicrystalline MgB2 films grown on these substrates. It is found that annealing of bicrystalline samples in oxygen leads to a systematic decrease in the critical current, an increase in the temperature width of the superconducting transition region, and to an improvement of the current-voltage (IV) characteristic, which becomes close in shape to the IV characteristic of a Josephson junction. The response of such a junction to radiation at a frequency of 110 GHz with an amplitude attaining 0.5 mV is measured.  相似文献

Static magnetic susceptibility χ(T) in the normal state (Tc ≤ T ≤ 400 K) and specific heat C(T) near temperature Tc of the transition to the superconducting state are experimentally studied for a series of fine crystalline samples of high-temperature YBa2Cu3Oy superconductor, having y and Tc close to optimal but differing in the degree of nanoscale structural disordering. It is shown that under the influence of structural disordering, there is enhancement of anomalous pseudogap behavior of the studied characteristics and a significant increase in the width of the pseudogap.  相似文献

The anisotropy in the superconducting properties of single-crystal Nd1.85Ce0.15CuO4 was studied from measurements of the heat capacity within the temperature interval 2–40 K in zero magnetic field and in a magnetic field of 8 T. We report on the first observation of heat capacity jumps occurring at the superconducting transition for various magnetic field orientations with respect to the crystallographic axes and on a strong anisotropy of the magnetic contribution to heat capacity in magnetic fields oriented in the a-b plane and perpendicular to it. These measurements yielded the anisotropy in the electronic heat capacity coefficient γn(H) and in the superconducting transition temperature Tc(H). The angular dependence of the Sommerfeld coefficient γn in the a-b plane observed in a magnetic field of 8 T exhibits four-lobe symmetry and zero gap direction of the order parameter. A comparison of the results obtained on the Nd1.85Ce0.15CuO4 single crystal with the data available for La1.85Sr0.15CuO4 permits one to conclude that the mechanisms of superconductivity in the electron-and hole-doped superconductors are similar.  相似文献

Systematic ab initio LDA calculations were performed for all the typical representatives of recently discovered class of iron-based high-temperature superconductors: REOFe(As,P) (RE = La, Ce, Nd, Sm, Tb), Ba2Fe2As, (Sr,Ca)FFeAs, Sr4Sc2O6Fe2P2, LiFeAs and Fe(Se,Te). Non-monotonic behavior of total density of states at the Fermi level is observed as a function of anion height relative to Fe layer with maximum at about Δz a ~ 1.37 Å, attributed to changing Fe-As (P, Se, Te) hybridization. This leads to a similar dependence of superconducting transition temperature T c as observed in the experiments. The fit of this dependence to elementary BCS theory produces semiquantitative agreement with experimental data for T c for the whole class of iron-based superconductors. The similar fit to Allen-Dynes formula underestimates T c in the vicinity of the maximum, signifying the possible importance of non-phonon pairing in this region. These results unambiguously demonstrate that the main effect of T c variation between different types of iron-based superconductors is due to the corresponding variation of the density of states at the Fermi level.  相似文献

The temperature dependences of the velocity of longitudinal sound waves and the internal friction in a La0.82Ca0.18MnO3 single crystal with the Curie temperature T C = 181 K have been studied. As temperature decreases, the single crystal is shown to undergo the transition from the pseudocubic O* to the Jahn–Teller O’ phase at T ~ 254 K and the reverse transition from O’ to O* phase at T ~ 84 K. The velocity of sound and the internal friction in the O’ phase are found to be significantly smaller than those in the O* phase.  相似文献

A cellular superconducting material consisting of thin (1–20 μm) MgB2?x layers and magnesium granules of about 100 μm has been produced. The critical temperature T c of this superconductor decreases with the thickness of the MgB2?x layers. In unalloyed magnesium diboride, the curvature of the temperature dependence of the upper critical field H c2(T) changes gradually from downward to pronounced upward as the temperature T c decreases from 38 to 36 K.  相似文献

The electron spin resonance has been measured for the first time both in the paramagnetic phase of the metallic GdB6 antiferromagnet (TN = 15.5K) and in the antiferromagnetic state (T < TN). In the paramagnetic phase below T* ~ 70 K, the material is found to exhibit a pronounced increase in the resonance linewidth and a shift in the g-factor, which is proportional to the linewidth Δg(T) ~ ΔH(T). Such behavior is not characteristic of antiferromagnetic metals and seems to be due to the effects related to displacements of Gd3+ ions from the centrosymmetric positions in the boron cage. The transition to the antiferromagnetic phase is accompanied by an abrupt change in the position of resonance (from μ0H0 ≈ 1.9 T to μ0H0 ≈ 3.9 T at ν = 60 GHz), after which a smooth evolution of the spectrum occurs, resulting eventually in the formation of the spectrum consisting of four resonance lines. The magnetic field dependence of the frequency of the resonant modes ω0(H0) obtained in the range of 28–69 GHz is well interpreted within the model of ESR in an antiferromagnet with the easy anisotropy axis ω/γ = (H 0 2 +2HAHE)1/2, where HE is the exchange field and HA is the anisotropy field. This provides an estimate for the anisotropy field, HA ≈ 800 Oe. This value can result from the dipole?dipole interaction related to the mutual displacement of Gd3+ ions, which occurs at the antiferromagnetic transition.  相似文献

A comparative study of the low-temperature specific heat for two types of YBa2Cu3O y high-T c superconductor samples is performed within the temperature range of 2?10 K. The samples of the first type are fine-crystalline optimally doped ones with different degrees of nanoscale structural inhomogeneity. The second type includes coarse-crystalline equilibrium samples with different hole doping levels. A similarity in the behavior of different contributions to the specific heat for structurally inhomogeneous and underdoped samples is revealed. The samples of both types exhibit a metal-like contribution linear in temperature to the specific heat ~γT, which is not characteristic of the superconducting phase. It is found that this contribution moderately grows with the decrease in the oxygen content, whereas with the increase in the structural inhomogeneity, such growth of the linear contribution (γT) becomes anomalously large. This leads to the conclusion about the coexistence of metallic and superconducting states in the bulk of the samples under study. Such common feature of electron systems could be related to the formation of the pseudogap regime. It is demonstrated that this regime suppresses just the superconducting states, leaving intact the metallic ones.  相似文献

The magnetic superconductorRu0.9Sr2YCu2.1O7.9 (Ru-1212Y) has beeninvestigated using neutron diffraction under variable temperature and magnetic field. Withthe complementary information from magnetization measurements, we propose a magnetic phasediagram T-H for the Ru-1212 system. Uniaxialantiferromagnetic (AFM) order of 1.2μ B /Ruatoms with moments parallel to the c-axis is found below the magnetictransition temperature at  ~140 K in the absence of magnetic field. In addition, ferromagnetism (FM) in the ab-plane develops below  ~120 K, butis suppressed at lower temperature by superconducting correlations. Externally appliedmagnetic fields cause Ru-moments to realign from the c-axis to theab-plane, i.e. along the ?1,1,0? direction, and induce ferromagnetismin the plane with  ~1μ B at 60 kOe.These observations of the weak ferromagnetism suppressed by superconductivity and thefield-induced metamagnetic transition between AFM and FM demonstrate not only competingorders of superconductivity and magnetism, but also suggest a certain vortex dynamicscontributing to these magnetic transitions.  相似文献
