For a solution u of –u=u(1–|u|2) on the whole plane, |u|<1 holds everywhere unless u=ei for some ; the derivatives of order k have moduli a constant M kdepending only on k. For a solution u on an open set 2, the moduli of u and its derivatives have upper bounds depending only on the distance to 2\ therefore the set of solutions on a given is compact in C() for the topology of uniform convergence on compact subsets of . For a solution u such that |u|<1, 1–|u| satisfies an estimation similar to the classical Harnack inequality for positive harmonic functions. Finally, if is bounded and |u| has a lim supm at each boundary point, the |u|m in if m1, but if m<1 then |u| admits only a majorant S m with values in ]m, 1[ and sufficient conditions are given for lim S m =0 or S m =O(m) as m0.

The proximity is investigated of the solution of Cauchy's problem for the equation u t +((u))x= u xx ((u) > 0) to the solution of Cauchy's problem for the equation ut+ ((u))x= 0, when the solution of the latter problem has a finite number of lines of discontinuity in the strip 0 t T. It is proved that, everywhere outside a fixed neighborhood of the lines of discontinuity, we have |u–u| C, where the constant C is independent of. Similar inequalities are derived for the first derivatives of u–u.Translated from Matematicheskie Zametki, Vol. 8, No. 3, pp. 309–320, September, 1970.In conclusion we express our gratitude to L. A. We consider the controlled parabolic obstacle problem with the controlu appearing through the Neumann condition y/v=u on the boundary of an open domain ofR N . Given a smooth open subsetQ 0 of ×(0,T) we prove that the problemQ 0 {(x, t) Q, y u (x, t)=0} is approximately solvable. Numerical tests are given. This work was done while Viorel Barbu was the Otto Szasz Visiting Professor at the University of Cincinnati.  相似文献

We show how it is possible to prove the existence of solutions of the Mumford-Shah image segmentation functional F(u,K) = \K [u2 + (ug)2]dx + n – 1(K), u W 1,2(\K), K closed in .We use a weak formulation of the minimum problem in a special class SBV() of functions of bounded variation. Moreover, we also deal with the regularity of minimizers and the approximation of F by elliptic functionals defined on Sobolev spaces. In this paper, we have collected the main results of Ambrosio and others.  相似文献

Letu be a function on m × n , wherem2 andn2, such thatu(x, .) is subharmonic on n for each fixedx in m andu(.,y) is subharmonic on m for each fixedy in n . We give a local integrability condition which ensures the subharmonicity ofu on m × n , and we show that this condition is close to being sharp. In particular, the local integrability of (log+ u +) m+n–2+ is enough to secure the subharmonicity ofu if >0, but not if <0.  相似文献

We extend a recent method of proof of a theorem by Kolmogorov on the conservation of quasi-periodic motion in Hamiltonian systems so as to prove existence of (uncountably many) real-analytic quasi-periodic solutions for elliptic systems u=f x (u, y), whereu y M u(y) N ,f=f(x, y) is a real-analytic periodic function and is a small parameter. Kolmogorov's theorem is obtained (in a special case) whenM=1 while the caseN=1 is (a special case of) a theorem by J. Moser on minimal foliations of codimension 1 on a torusT M +1. In the autonomous case,f=f(x), the above result holds for any .  相似文献

Summary We examine the problem:u+a(x)ub(x)u=f(x) for 0<x<1,a(x)>0,b(x)>, 2 = 4>0,a, b andf inC 2 [0, 1], in (0, 1],u(0) andu(1) given. Using finite elements and a discretized Green's function, we show that the El-Mistikawy and Werle difference scheme on an equidistant mesh of widthh is uniformly second order accurate for this problem (i.e., the nodal errors are bounded byCh 2, whereC is independent ofh and ). With a natural choice of trial functions, uniform first order accuracy is obtained in theL (0, 1) norm. On choosing piecewise linear trial functions (hat functions), uniform first order accuracy is obtained in theL 1 (0, 1) norm.  相似文献

Let be a bounded domain in n (n3) having a smooth boundary, let be an essentially bounded real-valued function defined on × h, and let be a continuous real-valued function defined on a given subset Y of Y h. In this paper, the existence of strong solutions u W 2,p (, h) W o 1,p (n/2<p<+) to the implicit elliptic equation (–u)=(x,u), with u=(u1, u2, ..., uh) and u=(u 1, u 2, ..., u h), is established. The abstract framework where the problem is placed is that of set-valued analysis.  相似文献

We consider a singularly perturbed convection—diffusion equation, –u+v u=0, defined on a half-infinite strip, (x,y)(0,)×(0,1) with a discontinuous Dirichlet boundary condition: u(x,0)=1, u(x,1)=u(0,y)=0. Asymptotic expansions of the solution are obtained from an integral representation in two limits: (a) as the singular parameter 0+ (with fixed distance r to the discontinuity point of the boundary condition) and (b) as that distance r0+ (with fixed ). It is shown that the first term of the expansion at =0 contains an error function or a combination of error functions. This term characterizes the effect of discontinuities on the -behavior of the solution and its derivatives in the boundary or internal layers. On the other hand, near the point of discontinuity of the boundary condition, the solution u(x,y) is approximated by a linear function of the polar angle at the point of discontinuity (0,0).  相似文献

The two point boundary problemy'-a(x)y–b(x)y=-f(x), o<x<1,y(0)=y(1)=0, is first solved approximately by the standard Galerkin method, (Y, ) + (aY+bY, )=(f, ), 1 0 (r, ), for a function Y 1 0 (r, ), the space ofC 1-piecewise--degree-polynomials vanishing atx=0 andx=1 and having knots at {x 0 ,x 1 , ...,x M }=. ThenY is projected locally into a polynomial of higher degree by means of one of several projections. It is then shown that higher-order convergence results locally, provided thaty is locally smooth and is quasi-uniform.This research was supported in part by the National Science Foundation.  相似文献

Using a capacity approach, we prove in this article that it is always possible to define a realization of the Laplacian on L 2() with generalized Robin boundary conditions where is an arbitrary open subset of R n and is a Borel measure on the boundary of . This operator generates a sub-Markovian C 0-semigroup on L 2(). If d=d where is a strictly positive bounded Borel measurable function defined on the boundary and the (n–1)-dimensional Hausdorff measure on , we show that the semigroup generated by the Laplacian with Robin boundary conditions has always Gaussian estimates with modified exponents. We also obtain that the spectrum of the Laplacian with Robin boundary conditions in L p () is independent of p[1,). Our approach constitutes an alternative way to Daners who considers the (n–1)-dimensional Hausdorff measure on the boundary. In particular, it allows us to construct a conterexample disproving Daners' closability conjecture.  相似文献

Summary LetE be a real Hausdorff topological vector space. We consider the following binary law * on ·E:(, ) * (, ) = (, k + ) for(, ), (, ) × E where is a nonnegative real number,k andl are integers. In order to find all subgroupoids of ( ·E, *) which depend faithfully on a set of parameters, we have to solve the following functional equation:f(f(y) k x +f(x) l y) =f(x)f(y) (x, y E). (1)In this paper, all solutionsf: of (1) which are in the Baire class I and have the Darboux property are obtained. We obtain also all continuous solutionsf: E of (1). The subgroupoids of (* ·E, *) which dapend faithfully and continuously on a set of parameters are then determined in different cases. We also deduce from this that the only subsemigroup ofL n 1 of the form {(F(x 2,x 3, ,x n ),x 2,x 3, ,x n ); (x 2, ,x n ) n – 1 }, where the mappingF: n – 1 * has some regularity property, is {1} × n – 1 .We may noitice that the Gob-Schinzel functional equation is a particular case of equation (1)(k = 0, l = 1, = 1). So we can say that (1) is of Gob—Schinzel type. More generally, whenE is a real algebra, we shall say that a functional equation is of Gob—Schinzel type if it is of the form:f(f(y) k x +f(x) l y) =F(x,y,f(x),f(y),f(xy)) wherek andl are integers andF is a given function in five variables. In this category of functional equations, we study here the equation:f(f(y) k x +f(x) l y) =f(xy) (x, y f: ). (4)This paper extends the results obtained by N. Brillouët and J. Dhombres in [3] and completes some results obtained by P. Urban in his Ph.D. thesis [11] (this work has not yet been published).Dedicated to the memory of Alexander M. Let {W(s)} s 0 be a standard Wiener process. The supremum of the squared Euclidian norm Y (t)2, of the R2-valued process Y(t)=(1/t W(t), {12/t 3 int0 t s dW (s)– {3/t} W(t)), t [, 1], is the asymptotic, large sample distribution, of a test statistic for a change point detection problem, of appearance of linear trend. We determine the asymptotic behavior P {sup t [, 1] Y(t)2 > u as u , of this statistic, for a fixed (0,1), and for a moving = (u) 0 at a suitable rate as u . The statistical interest of our results lie in their use as approximate test levels.  相似文献

We shall develop a method to prove inequalities in a unified manner. The idea is as follows: It is quite often possible to find a continuous functional : n , such that the left- and the right-hand side of a given inequality can be written in the form (u)(v) for suitable points,v=v(u). If one now constructs a map n n , which is functional increasing (i.e. for each x n (which is not a fixed point of ) the inequality (x)<((x)) should hold) one specially gets the chain (u)( u))( 2(u))... n (u)). Under quite general conditions one finds that the sequence { n (u)} n converges tov=v(u). As a consequence one obtains the inequality (u)(v).  相似文献

One investigates the minimality of derivative chains, constructed from the root vectors of polynomial pencils of operators, acting in a Hilbert space. One investigates in detail the quadratic pencil of operators. In particular, for L()=L0+L1+2L2 with bounded operators L00, L20 and Re L10, one shows the minimality in the space173-02 of the system {xk, kekxk}, where xk are eigenvectors of L(), corresponding to the characteristic numbers kin the deleted neighborhoods of which one has the representation L–1()=(–k)–1RK+WK() with one-dimensional operators Rk and operator-valued functions WK(), k=1, 2, ..., analytic for =k.Translated from Ukrainskii Matematicheskii Zhurnal, Vol. 42, No. 2, pp. 195–205, February, 1990.  相似文献

Square integrable solutions to the equation{– 2/y2 + P(Dx)+b(y)–}u(x, y) = f(x, y) are considered in the half-spacey>0, x n , whereP(D x) is a constant coefficient operator. Under suitable conditions on limy0u(x, y), b(y), f(x, y) and , it is shown that suppu = suppf.
