We study a family of polynomials whose values express degrees of Schubert varieties in the generalized complex flag manifold G/B. The polynomials are given by weighted sums over saturated chains in the Bruhat order. We derive several explicit formulas for these polynomials, and investigate their relations with Schubert polynomials, harmonic polynomials, Demazure characters, and generalized Littlewood-Richardson coefficients. In the second half of the paper, we study the classical flag manifold and discuss related combinatorial objects: flagged Schur polynomials, 312-avoiding permutations, generalized Gelfand-Tsetlin polytopes, the inverse Schubert-Kostka matrix, parking functions, and binary trees. In this paper, we use a qualitative method to study global and local bifurcations in a disturbed Hamiltonian vector field approaching a Poincaré map in the 3:1 resonant case. We give explicit calculation formulas to determine bifurcation parameters and draw various bifurcations and phase portraits in the phase plane.The project supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China.  相似文献

A B-spline approach for empirical mode decompositions   总被引:16,自引:0,他引:16  
We propose an alternative B-spline approach for empirical mode decompositions for nonlinear and nonstationary signals. Motivated by this new approach, we derive recursive formulas of the Hilbert transform of B-splines and discuss Euler splines as spline intrinsic mode functions in the decomposition. We also develop the Bedrosian identity for signals having vanishing moments. We present numerical implementations of the B-spline algorithm for an earthquake signal and compare the numerical performance of this approach with that given by the standard empirical mode decomposition. Finally, we discuss several open mathematical problems related to the empirical mode decomposition. Dedicated to Professor Charles A. This paper determines all commutative zero divisor semigroups whose zero divisor graph is a complete graph (finite or infinite), or a complete graph (finite or infinite) with one additional end vertex, and gives formulas for the numbers of all such semigroups with n elements. This paper introduces arithmetic-like operations on matrix pencils. The pencil-arithmetic operations extend elementary formulas for sums and products of rational numbers and include the algebra of linear transformations as a special case. These operations give an unusual perspective on a variety of pencil related computations. We derive generalizations of monodromy matrices and the matrix exponential. A new algorithm for computing a pencil-arithmetic generalization of the matrix sign function does not use matrix inverses and gives an empirically forward numerically stable algorithm for extracting deflating subspaces.Some of this work was completed at the University of Kansas. In this paper,a class of generalized parallel matrix multisplitting relaxation methods for solving linear complementarity problems on the high-speed multiprocessor systems is set up. This class of methods not only includes all the existing relaxation methods for the linear complementarity problems ,but also yields a lot of novel ones in the sense of multisplittlng. We establish the convergence theories of this class of generalized parallel multisplitting relaxation methods under the condition that the system matrix is an H-metrix with positive diagonal elements.  相似文献

It is verified that the long-range interaction integrable chain models with Yangian symmetry can be obtained from RTT relation, which therefore make this kind of models merge into Yang-Baxter system. A general method for obtaining Hamiltonian from quantum determinant of transfer matrix satisfying RTT relation is given. The aim of this paper is to study quasi-bicrossed products and a especially quantum quasi-doubles. Firstly, we construct one new kind of quasi-bicrossed products by weak Hopf algebras and then devote a brief discussion to this matter. And, we discuss the conditions for quasi-bicrossed products to possess the structure of almost weak Hopf algebras, containing the case of a special smash product. At the end, we give some properties on the quantum quasi-double, respectively on the quasi-R-isomorphism, the representation-theoretic interpretation and the regularity of the quasi-R-matrix.  相似文献

We show that every Bessel sequence (and therefore every frame) in a separable Hilbert space can be expanded to a tight frame by adding some elements. The proof is based on a recent generalization of the frame concept, the g-frame, which illustrates that g-frames could be useful in the study of frame theory. As an application, we prove that any Gabor frame can be expanded to a tight frame by adding one window function.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the semiparametric regression model for longitudinal data. Due to the correlation within groups, a generalized empirical log-likelihood ratio statistic for the unknown parameters in the model is suggested by introducing the working covariance matrix. It is proved that the proposed statistic is asymptotically standard chi-squared under some suitable conditions, and hence it can be used to construct the confidence regions of the parameters. A simulation study is conducted to compare the proposed method with the generalized least squares method in terms of coverage accuracy and average lengths of the confidence intervals.  相似文献

We derive a wall crossing formula for the symplectic vortex invariants of toric manifolds. In this paper, we introduce the m-Cartan matrix and observe that some properties of the quadratic form associated to the Cartan matrix of an Euclidean diagram can be generalized to the m-Cartan matrix of a McKay quiver. We also describe the McKay quiver for a finite abelian subgroup of a special linear group. In this paper, we will discuss the constructiOn problems about the invariant sets and invariant measures of continues maps~ which map complexes into themselves, using simplical approximation and Markov cbeirs. In [7], the author defined a matrix by using r-normal subdivi of the w,dimensional unit cube, considered it a Markov matrix, and constructed the invariantset and invafiant measure, In fact, the matrix he defined is not Markov matrix generally. Using the language of pseudospectra, we study the behavior of matrix eigenvalues under two scales of matrix perturbation. First, we relate Lidskii’s analysis of small perturbations to a recent result of Karow on the growth rate of pseudospectra. Then, considering larger perturbations, we follow recent work of Alam and Bora in characterizing the distance from a given matrix to the set of matrices with multiple eigenvalues in terms of the number of connected components of pseudospectra. Manufacturing network flow (MNF) is a generalized network model that overcomes the limitation of an ordinary network flow in modeling more complicated manufacturing scenarios, in particular the synthesis of different materials into one product and/or the distilling of one type of material into many different products. Though a network simplex method for solving a simplified version of MNF has been outlined in the literature, more research work is still needed to give a complete answer whether some classical duality and optimality results of the classical network flow problem can be extended in MNF. In this paper, we propose an algorithmic method for obtaining an initial basic feasible solution to start the existing network simplex algorithm, and present a network-based approach to checking the dual feasibility conditions. These results are an extension of those of the ordinary network flow problem.  相似文献

This note contributes to a circle of ideas that we have been developing recently in which we view certain abstract operator algebras H(E), which we call Hardy algebras, and which are noncommutative generalizations of classical H, as spaces of functions defined on their spaces of representations. We define a generalization of the Poisson kernel, which “reproduces” the values, on , of the “functions” coming from H(E). We present results that are natural generalizations of the Poisson integral formula. They also are easily seen to be generalizations of formulas that Popescu developed. We relate our Poisson kernel to the idea of a characteristic operator function and show how the Poisson kernel identifies the “model space” for the canonical model that can be attached to a point in the disc . We also connect our Poisson kernel to various “point evaluations” and to the idea of curvature. We give explicit formulas for the eigenvectors of the transfer matrix of the Baxter-Bazhanov-Stroganov (BBS) model (N-state spin model) with fixed-spin boundary conditions. We obtain these formulas from the formulas for the eigenvectors of the periodic BBS model by a limit procedure. The latter formulas were derived in the framework of Sklyanin’s method of separation of variables. In the case of fixed-spin boundaries, we solve the corresponding T-Q Baxter equations for the functions of separated variables explicitly. In this paper, the fully discrete risk model is considered. Claim sizes are assumed to be integer-valued. A new method is employed to derive some explicit formulas of the Gerber-Shiu penalty function. Characteristic equations corresponding to recursive equations satisfied by Gerber-Shiu penalty function are analyzed and explicit expressions of the penalty function are then obtained.
