An SI-sequence is a finite sequence of positive integers which is symmetric, unimodal and satisfies a certain growth condition. These are known to correspond precisely to the possible Hilbert functions of graded Artinian Gorenstein algebras with the weak Lefschetz property, a property shared by a nonempty open set of the family of all graded Artinian Gorenstein algebras having a fixed Hilbert function that is an SI sequence. Starting with an arbitrary SI-sequence, we construct a reduced, arithmetically Gorenstein configuration G of linear varieties of arbitrary dimension whose Artinian reduction has the given SI-sequence as Hilbert function and has the weak Lefschetz property. Furthermore, we show that G has maximal graded Betti numbers among all arithmetically Gorenstein subschemes of projective space whose Artinian reduction has the weak Lefschetz property and the given Hilbert function. As an application we show that over a field of characteristic zero every set of simplicial polytopes with fixed h-vector contains a polytope with maximal graded Betti numbers.  相似文献

Ford≥3g and 1≤s≤[g/2], we study the strataN d, g(s) of degreed genusg spaces curvesC whose normal bundleN C is stable with stability degree (integer of Lange-Narasimhan) σ(N C)=2s. We prove thatN d, g(s) has an irreducible component of the right dimension whose general curve has a normal bundle with the right number of maximal subbundles. We consider also the semi-stable case (s=0), obtaining similar results. We prove our results by studying the normal bundles of reducible curves and their deformations. Both authors were partially supported by MIUR and GNSAGA of INdAM (Italy).  相似文献

Let R be a commutative Noetherian ring of Krull dimension d, and let a be an ideal of R. In this paper, we will study the strong cotorsioness and the Gorenstein injectivity of the section functor Γa(−) in local cohomology. As applications, we will find new characterizations for Gorenstein and regular local rings. We also study the effect of the section functors Γa(−) and the functors on the Auslander and Bass classes.  相似文献

We study consequences, for a standard graded algebra, of extremal behavior in Green's Hyperplane Restriction Theorem. First, we extend his Theorem 4 from the case of a plane curve to the case of a hypersurface in a linear space. Second, assuming a certain Lefschetz condition, we give a connection to extremal behavior in Macaulay's theorem. We apply these results to show that (1,19,17,19,1) is not a Gorenstein sequence, and as a result we classify the sequences of the form (1,a,a?2,a,1) that are Gorenstein sequences.  相似文献

Let C be a reduced curve singularity. C is called of finite self-dual type if there exist only finitely many isomorphism classes of indecomposable, self-dual, torsion-free modules over the local ring of C. In this paper it is shown that the singularities of finite self-dual type are those which dominate a simple plane singularity.  相似文献

The purpose of this note is to characterize the finite Hilbert functions which force all of their artinian algebras to enjoy the Weak Lefschetz Property (WLP). Curiously, they turn out to be exactly those (characterized by Wiebe in [A. Wiebe, The Lefschetz property for componentwise linear ideals and Gotzmann ideals, Comm. Algebra 32 (12) (2004) 4601-4611]) whose Gotzmann ideals have the WLP.This implies that, if a Gotzmann ideal has the WLP, then all algebras with the same Hilbert function (and hence lower Betti numbers) have the WLP as well. However, we will answer in the negative, even in the case of level algebras, the most natural question that one might ask after reading the previous sentence: If A is an artinian algebra enjoying the WLP, do all artinian algebras with the same Hilbert function as A and Betti numbers lower than those of A have the WLP as well? Also, as a consequence of our result, we have another (simpler) proof of the fact that all codimension 2 algebras enjoy the WLP (this fact was first proven in [T. Harima, J. Migliore, U. Nagel, J. Watanabe, The weak and strong Lefschetz properties for Artinian K-algebras, J. Algebra 262 (2003) 99-126], where it was shown that even the Strong Lefschetz Property holds).  相似文献

Let k be a field of characteristic zero and f(t),g(t) be polynomials in k[t]. For a plane curve parameterized by x=f(t),y=g(t), Abhyankar developed the notion of Taylor resultant (Mathematical Surveys and Monographs, Vol. 35, American Mathematical Society, Providence, RI, 1990) which enables one to find its singularities without knowing its defining polynomial. This concept was generalized as D-resultant by Yu and Van den Essen (Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 125(3) (1997) 689), which works over an arbitrary field. In this paper, we extend this to a curve in affine n-space parameterized by x1=f1(t),…,xn=fn(t) over an arbitrary ground field k, where f1,…,fnk[t]. This approach compares to the usual approach of computing the ideal of the curve first. It provides an efficient algorithm of computing the singularities of such parametric curves using Gröbner bases. Computational examples worked out by symbolic computation packages are included.  相似文献

The article contains a new proof that the Hilbert scheme of irreducible surfaces of degree m in ? m+1 is irreducible except m = 4. In the case m = 4 the Hilbert scheme consists of two irreducible components explicitly described in the article. The main idea of our approach is to use the proof of Chisini conjecture [Kulikov Vik.S., On Chisini’s conjecture II, Izv. Math., 2008, 72(5), 901–913 (in Russian)] for coverings of projective plane branched in a special class of rational curves.  相似文献

In this paper, we compare Krull dimension, Gorenstein injective dimension and injective dimension of a module in several cases. In fact, we establish some generalizations of the Bass formula. To this end, we generalize the Grothendieck non-vanishing theorem to a class of modules larger than finitely generated modules. Received: 21 May 2007  相似文献

Let H be a separable real Hilbert space. Denote by (H) the Grassmannian consisting of closed subspaces with infinite dimension and codimension. This Grassmannian is partially ordered by the inclusion relation. We show that every order preserving transformation of (H) can be extended to an automorphism of the lattice of closed subspaces of H. It follows from Mackey’s result [8] that automorphisms of this lattice are induced by invertible bounded linear operators. Dedicated to G. W. In this paper, we will give some geometric results using generic initial ideals for the degree reverse lex order. The main goal of the paper is to improve on results of Bigatti, Geramita and Migliore concerning geometric consequences of maximal growth of the Hilbert function of the Artinian reduction of a set of points. When the points have the Uniform Position Property, the consequences are even more striking. Here we weaken the growth condition, assuming only that the values of the Hilbert function of the Artinian reduction are equal in two consecutive degrees, and that the first of these degrees is greater than the second reduction number of the points. We continue to get nice geometric consequences even from this weaker assumption. However, we have surprising examples to show that imposing the Uniform Position Property on the points does not give the striking consequences that one might expect. This leads to a better understanding of the Hilbert function, and the ideal itself, of a set of points with the Uniform Position Property, which is an important open question. In the last section we describe the role played by the Weak Lefschetz Property (WLP) in this theory, and we show that the general hyperplane section of a smooth curve may not have the WLP.  相似文献

Let R be a commutative noetherian local ring and consider the set of isomorphism classes of indecomposable totally reflexive R-modules. We prove that if this set is finite, then either it has exactly one element, represented by the rank 1 free module, or R is Gorenstein and an isolated singularity (if R is complete, then it is even a simple hypersurface singularity). The crux of our proof is to argue that if the residue field has a totally reflexive cover, then R is Gorenstein or every totally reflexive R-module is free.  相似文献

Let A be a commutative k-algebra, where k is an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0, and let M be an A-module. We consider the following question: Under what conditions is it possible to find a connection on M?We consider the maximal Cohen-Macaulay (MCM) modules over complete CM algebras that are isolated singularities, and usually assume that the singularities have finite CM representation type. It is known that any MCM module over a simple singularity of dimension d≤2 admits an integrable connection. We prove that an MCM module over a simple singularity of dimension d≥3 admits a connection if and only if it is free. Among singularities of finite CM representation type, we find examples of curves with MCM modules that do not admit connections, and threefolds with non-free MCM modules that admit connections.Let A be a singularity not necessarily of finite CM representation type, and consider the condition that A is a Gorenstein curve or a -Gorenstein singularity of dimension d≥2. We show that this condition is sufficient for the canonical module ωA to admit an integrable connection, and conjecture that it is also necessary. In support of the conjecture, we show that if A is a monomial curve singularity, then the canonical module ωA admits an integrable connection if and only if A is Gorenstein.  相似文献

A scheme XPn of codimension c is called standard determinantal if its homogeneous saturated ideal can be generated by the t×t minors of a homogeneous t×(t+c−1) matrix (fij). Given integers a0a1≤?≤at+c−2 and b1≤?≤bt, we denote by the stratum of standard determinantal schemes where fij are homogeneous polynomials of degrees ajbi and is the Hilbert scheme (if nc>0, resp. the postulation Hilbert scheme if nc=0).Focusing mainly on zero and one dimensional determinantal schemes we determine the codimension of in and we show that is generically smooth along under certain conditions. For zero dimensional schemes (only) we find a counterexample to the conjectured value of appearing in Kleppe and Miró-Roig (2005) [25].  相似文献

Given a positive integer g, we denote by F(g) the set of all numerical semigroups with Frobenius number g. The set (F(g),∩) is a semigroup. In this paper we study the generators of this semigroup.  相似文献
