For discrete Hecke pairs (G,H), we introduce a notion of covariant representation which reduces in the case where H is normal to the usual definition of covariance for the action of G/H on c0(G/H) by right translation; in many cases where G is a semidirect product, it can also be expressed in terms of covariance for a semigroup action. We use this covariance to characterise the representations of c0(G/H) which are multiples of the multiplication representation on ?2(G/H), and more generally, we prove an imprimitivity theorem for regular representations of certain crossed products by coactions of homogeneous spaces. We thus obtain new criteria for extending unitary representations from H to G.  相似文献

We will provide an analysis of the generalized Atiyah-Hirzebruch spectral sequence (GAHSS), which was introduced by Hakim-Hashemi and Kahn. To do so, we introduce a new class of functors, called n-exact functors, which are analogous to Goodwillie’s n-excisive functors. In the study of these functors, we introduce a new spectral sequence, the homological Barratt-Goerss spectral sequence (HBGSS), which has properties similar to those of the classical Barratt-Goerss Spectral Sequence on homotopy. We close by giving an identification of the E2 term of the GAHSS in the case of 2-exact functors on Moore spaces.  相似文献

Let K(n) be the nth Morava K-theory at a prime p, and let T(n) be the telescope of a vn-self map of a finite complex of type n. In this paper we study the K(n)*-homology of ΩX, the 0th space of a spectrum X, and many related matters. We give a sampling of our results.Let PX be the free commutative S-algebra generated by X: it is weakly equivalent to the wedge of all the extended powers of X. Given a continuous function f:Sm+n−2Rm, and n points u1,u2,…,unSm+n−2; does there exist a rotation rSO(m+n−1) such that f(ru1)=f(ru2)=?=f(run)? In this paper, we study the property of a continuous map from a sphere to a Euclidean space by using the theory of Smith periodic transformation and Brouwer degree of map theorem. The conjecture is proved under the case of n=2 and m being even. Furthermore, this conjecture is proved for the case when ujuj+1=λ and the dimension of the sphere is not less than m+n−2. This paper generalizes the Borsuk-Ulam theorem and then presents its application.  相似文献

For a coaugmented functor J on spaces, we consider J-modules and finite J-limits. The former are spaces X which are retracts of JX via the natural map. The latter are homotopy limits of J-modules arranged in diagrams whose shape is finite dimensional. Familiar examples are generalised Eilenberg MacLane spaces, which are the SP-modules. Finite SP-limits are nilpotent spaces with a very strong finiteness property. We show that the cofacial Bousfield-Kan construction of the functors Jn is universal for finite J-limits in the sense that every map XY where Y is a finite J-limit, factors through such natural map XJnX, for some n<∞.  相似文献

Let G be a group, S a subgroup of G, and F a field of characteristic p. We denote the augmentation ideal of the group algebra FG by ω(G). The Zassenhaus-Jennings-Lazard series of G is defined by Dn(G)=G∩(1+ωn(G)). We give a constructive proof of a theorem of Quillen stating that the graded algebra associated with FG is isomorphic as an algebra to the enveloping algebra of the restricted Lie algebra associated with the Dn(G). We then extend a theorem of Jennings that provides a basis for the quotient ωn(G)/ωn+1(G) in terms of a basis of the restricted Lie algebra associated with the Dn(G). We shall use these theorems to prove the main results of this paper. For G a finite p-group and n a positive integer, we prove that G∩(1+ω(G)ωn(S))=Dn+1(S) and G∩(1+ω2(G)ωn(S))=Dn+2(S)Dn+1(SD2(G)). The analogous results for integral group rings of free groups have been previously obtained by Gruenberg, Hurley, and Sehgal.  相似文献

Let be a continuous function such that H(p)→H0R as |p|→+∞. Fixing a domain Ω in R2 we study the behaviour of a sequence (un) of approximate solutions to the H-system Δu=2H(u)uxuy in Ω. Assuming that suppR3|(H(p)−H0)p|<1, we show that the weak limit of the sequence (un) solves the H-system and unu strongly in H1 apart from a countable set S made by isolated points. Moreover, if in addition H(p)=H0+o(1/|p|) as |p|→+∞, then in correspondence of each point of S we prove that the sequence (un) blows either an H-bubble or an H0-sphere.  相似文献

We study the homology of gauge groups associated with principal SU(n) bundles over the four-sphere. After computing the mod p homology of based gauge groups of SU(n) by combined use of the Serre spectral sequence and the Eilenberg-Moore spectral sequence, we compute the modp homology of gauge groups of SU(n) using the Serre spectral sequence for the evaluation fibration.  相似文献

Let X be a topological space. The homology of the iterated loop space HΩnX is an algebra over the homology of the framed n-disks operad HfDn [E. Getzler, Batalin-Vilkovisky algebras and two-dimensional topological field theories, Comm. Math. Phys. 159 (2) (1994) 265-285; P. Salvatore, N. Wahl, Framed discs operads and Batalin-Vilkovisky algebras, Q. J. Math. 54 (2) (2003) 213-231]. We explicitly determine this HfDn-algebra structure on H(ΩnX;Q). We show that the action of H(SO(n)) on the iterated loop space HΩnX is related to the J-homomorphism and that the BV-operator on H(Ω2X) vanishes on spherical classes only in characteristic other than 2.  相似文献

We study the mod p homology of the double and the triple loop spaces of exceptional Lie groups E 6, E 7, and E 8 through the Eilenberg–Moore spectral sequence and the Serre spectral sequence using homology operations. The Bockstein actions on them are also determined. As a result, the Eilenberg–Moore spectral sequences of the path loop fibrations converging to H *2 G;? p ) and H *3 G;? p ) collapse at the E 2-term for any compact simple Lie group G. Fix a prime p. Given a finite group G, let H(G) denote its mod p cohomology. In the early 1990s, Henn, Lannes, and Schwartz introduced two invariants d0(G) and d1(G) of H(G) viewed as a module over the mod p Steenrod algebra. They showed that, in a precise sense, H(G) is respectively detected and determined by Hd(CG(V)) for d?d0(G) and d?d1(G), with V running through the elementary abelian p-subgroups of G.The main goal of this paper is to study how to calculate these invariants. We find that a critical role is played by the image of the restriction of H(G) to H(C), where C is the maximal central elementary abelian p-subgroup of G. A measure of this is the top degree e(G) of the finite dimensional Hopf algebra H(C)H(G)Fp, a number that tends to be quite easy to calculate. Our results are complete when G has a p-Sylow subgroup P in which every element of order p is central. Using the Benson-Carlson duality, we show that in this case, d0(G)=d0(P)=e(P), and a similar exact formula holds for d1. As a bonus, we learn that He(G)(P) contains nontrivial essential cohomology, reproving and sharpening a theorem of Adem and Karagueuzian. In general, we are able to show that d0(G)?max{e(CG(V))|V<G} if certain cases of Benson's Regularity Conjecture hold. In particular, this inequality holds for all groups such that the difference between the p-rank of G and the depth of H(G) is at most 2. When we look at examples with p=2, we learn that d0(G)?14 for all groups with 2-Sylow subgroup of order up to 64, with equality realized when G=SU(3,4).En route we study two objects of independent interest. If C is any central elementary abelian p-subgroup of G, then H(G) is an H(C)-comodule, and we prove that the subalgebra of H(C)-primitives is always Noetherian of Krull dimension equal to the p-rank of G minus the p-rank of C. If the depth of H(G) equals the rank of Z(G), we show that the depth essential cohomology of G is nonzero (reproving and extending a theorem of Green), and Cohen-Macauley in a certain sense, and prove related structural results.  相似文献

In this paper we study the Nielsen number of a self-map f:MM of a compact connected surface with boundary. Let G=π1(M) be the fundamental group of M which is a finitely generated free group. We introduce a new algebraic condition called “bounded solution length” on the induced endomorphism φ:GG of f and show that many maps which have no remnant satisfy this condition. For a map f that has bounded solution length, we describe an algorithm for computing the Nielsen number N(f).  相似文献

Let H be a torsion-free strongly polycyclic (torsion-free virtually polycyclic, resp.) group. Let G be any group with maximal condition. We show that there exists a torsion-free strongly polycyclic (torsion-free virtually polycyclic, resp.) group and an epimorphism such that for any homomorphism ?:GH, it factors through , i.e., there exists a homomorphism such that . We show that this factorization property cannot be extended to any finitely generated group G. As an application of factorization, we give necessary and sufficient conditions for N(f,g)=R(f,g) to hold for maps f,g:XY between closed orientable n-manifolds where π1(X) has the maximal condition, Y is an infra-solvmanifold, N(f,g) and R(f,g) denote the Nielsen and Reidemeister coincidence numbers, respectively.  相似文献

We assign to each positive integer n a digraph G(n) whose set of vertices is H={0,1,…,n-1} and for which there exists a directed edge from aH to bH if . Associated with G(n) are two disjoint subdigraphs: G1(n) and G2(n) whose union is G(n). The vertices of G1(n) correspond to those residues which are relatively prime to n. The structure of G1(n) is well understood. In this paper, we investigate in detail the structure of G2(n).  相似文献

We establish the theory of Orlicz-Hardy spaces generated by a wide class of functions. The class will be wider than the class of all the N-functions.In particular,we consider the non-smooth atomic decomposition. The relation between Orlicz-Hardy spaces and their duals is also studied. As an application, duality of Hardy spaces with variable exponents is revisited. This work is different from earlier works about Orlicz-Hardy spaces H(Rn)in that the class of admissible functions is largely widened. We can deal with, for example,(r)≡(rp1(log(e+1/r))q1,0r 6 1,rp2(log(e+r))q2,r1,with p1,p2∈(0,∞)and q1,q2∈(.∞,∞),where we shall establish the boundedness of the Riesz transforms on H(Rn).In particular,is neither convex nor concave when 0p11p2∞,0p21p1∞or p1=p2=1 and q1,q20.If(r)≡r(log(e+r))q,then H(Rn)=H(logH)q(Rn).We shall also establish the boundedness of the fractional integral operators I of order∈(0,∞).For example,I is shown to be bounded from H(logH)1./n(Rn)to Ln/(n.)(log L)(Rn)for 0n.  相似文献

Let H be a definite quaternion algebra over Q with discriminant DH and R a maximal order of H. We denote by Gn a quaternionic unitary group and put Γn=Gn(Q)∩GL2n(R). Let Sκ(Γn) be the space of cusp forms of weight κ with respect to Γn on the quaternion half-space of degree n. We construct a lifting from primitive forms in Sk(SL2(Z)) to Sk+2n−2(Γn) and a lifting from primitive forms in Sk(Γ0(d)) to Sk+2(Γ2), where d is a factor of DH. These liftings are generalizations of the Maass lifting investigated by Krieg.  相似文献

We study embedding theorems for anisotropic spaces of Bessel-Lions type H p l (Ω; E 0, E), where E 0 and E are Banach spaces. We obtain the most regular spaces E α for which mixed differentiation operators D α from H p l (Ω; E 0, E) to L p(Ω; E α ) are bounded. The spaces E α are interpolation spaces between E 0 and E, depending on α = (α 1, α 2, …, α n ) and l = (l 1, l 2, …, l n ). The results obtained are applied to prove the separability of anisotropic differential operator equations with variable coefficients.  相似文献
