We give sufficient conditions for the existence of a model structure on operads in an arbitrary symmetric monoidal model category. General invariance properties for homotopy algebras over operads are deduced.  相似文献

Summary LetG be an additively written abelian group and leth: G G be a given function. M. Hall Jr. (1952) and L. Fuchs (1958) already answered the following question. For what functionsh: G G does the functional equation(x) + (x) = h(x) (x G) have as its solution a pair of permutations and ofG? In this paper, we give explicit constructions of such a pair, in a number of cases, in particular whenh(x) x andG is finite. We further determine the finite groupsG where the latter, can be chosen to be automorphisms.In the case whereG is an infinite topological group, we study in how far and can be chosen as Borel measurable permutations, given thath: G G itself is Borel measurable.  相似文献

In this paper we re-develop the foundations of the category theory of quasi-categories (also called ∞-categories) using 2-category theory. We show that Joyal's strict 2-category of quasi-categories admits certain weak 2-limits, among them weak comma objects. We use these comma quasi-categories to encode universal properties relevant to limits, colimits, and adjunctions and prove the expected theorems relating these notions. These universal properties have an alternate form as absolute lifting diagrams in the 2-category, which we show are determined pointwise by the existence of certain initial or terminal vertices, allowing for the easy production of examples.  相似文献

We consider the elementary operator L, acting on the Hilbert-Schmidt Class C2(H), given by L(T)=ATB, with A and B bounded operators on H. We establish necessary and sufficient conditions on A and B for L to be a 2-isometry or a 3-isometry. We derive sufficient conditions for L to be an n-isometry. We also give several illustrative examples involving the weighted shift operator on l2 and the multiplication operator on the Dirichlet space.  相似文献

We characterize norm hermitian operators on classes of tensor products of Banach spaces and derive results for the particular settings of injective and projective tensor products. We provide a characterization of bi-circular and generalized bi-circular projections on tensor products of Banach spaces supporting only dyadic surjective isometries. We show that Verdier duality for certain sheaves on the moduli spaces of graphs associated to differential graded operads corresponds to the cobar-duality of operads (which specializes to Koszul duality for Koszul operads). This in particular gives a conceptual explanation of the appearance of graph cohomology of both the commutative and Lie types in computations of the cohomology of the outer automorphism group of a free group. Another consequence is an explicit computation of dualizing sheaves on spaces of metric graphs, thus characterizing to which extent these spaces are different from oriented orbifolds. We also provide a relation between the cohomology of the space of metric ribbon graphs, known to be homotopy equivalent to the moduli space of Riemann surfaces, and the cohomology of a certain sheaf on the space of usual metric graphs.  相似文献

We extend the -construction of Boardman and Vogt to operads of an arbitrary monoidal model category with suitable interval, and show that it provides a cofibrant resolution for well-pointed Σ-cofibrant operads. The standard simplicial resolution of Godement as well as the cobar-bar chain resolution are shown to be particular instances of this generalised -construction.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate multiplicative properties of the classical Dold-Kan correspondence. The inverse of the normalization functor maps commutative differential graded algebras to E-algebras. We prove that it in fact sends algebras over arbitrary differential graded E-operads to E-algebras in simplicial modules and is part of a Quillen adjunction. More generally, this inverse maps homotopy algebras to weak homotopy algebras. We prove the corresponding dual results for algebras under the conormalization, and for coalgebra structures under the normalization resp. the inverse of the conormalization.  相似文献

In this note, we construct an example of a locally compact abelian group G = C × D (where C is a compact group and D is a discrete group) and a closed pure subgroup of G having nonpure annihilator in the Pontrjagin dual $\hat{G}$, answering a question raised by Hartman and Hulanicki. A simple proof of the following result is given: Suppose ${\frak K}$ is a class of locally compact abelian groups such that $G \in {\frak K}$ implies that $\hat{G} \in {\frak K}$ and nG is closed in G for each positive integer n. If H is a closed subgroup of a group $G \in {\frak K}$, then H is topologically pure in G exactly if the annihilator of H is topologically pure in $\hat{G}$. This result extends a theorem of Hartman and Hulanicki.Received: 4 April 2002  相似文献

We define a family of posets of partitions associated to an operad. We prove that the operad is Koszul if and only if the posets are Cohen-Macaulay. On the one hand, this characterization allows us to compute completely the homology of the posets. The homology groups are isomorphic to the Koszul dual cooperad. On the other hand, we get new methods for proving that an operad is Koszul.  相似文献

Let G be a finite abelian group of order g. We determine, for all 1?r,s?g, the minimal size μG(r,s)=min|A+B| of sumsets A+B, where A and B range over all subsets of G of cardinality r and s, respectively. We do so by explicit construction. Our formula for μG(r,s) shows that this function only depends on the cardinality of G, not on its specific group structure. Earlier results on μG are recalled in the Introduction.  相似文献

We show that three different kinds of cohomologies - Baues-Wirsching cohomology, the (S,O)-cohomology of Dwyer and Kan, and the André-Quillen cohomology of aΠ-algebra  - are isomorphic, under certain assumptions. This is then used to identify the cohomological obstructions in three general approaches to realizability problems: the track category version of Baues and Wirsching, the diagram rectifications of Dwyer, Kan, and Smith, and the Π-algebra realization of Dwyer, Kan, and Stover. Our main tool in this identification is the notion of a mapping algebra: a simplicially enriched version of an algebra over a theory.  相似文献

By combining ideas of homotopical algebra and of enriched category theory, we explain how two classical formulas for homotopy colimits, one arising from the work of Quillen and one arising from the work of Bousfield and Kan, are instances of general formulas for the derived functor of the weighted colimit functor.  相似文献

We analyze k-stage formality and relate resonance with this type of formality properties. For instance, we show that, for a finitely generated nilpotent group that is k-stage formal, the resonance varieties are trivial up to degree k. We also show that the cohomology ring, truncated up to degree k+1, of a finitely generated nilpotent, k-stage formal group is generated in degree 1; this criterion is necessary and sufficient for a finitely generated, 2-step nilpotent group to be k-stage formal. We compute resonance varieties for Heisenberg-type groups and deduce the degree of partial formality for this class of groups.  相似文献

In this paper, we show that, for every locally compact abelian group G, the following statements are equivalent:
(i)
G contains no sequence such that {0}∪{±xnnN} is infinite and quasi-convex in G, and xn?0;
(ii)
one of the subgroups {gG∣2g=0} or {gG∣3g=0} is open in G;
(iii)
G contains an open compact subgroup of the form or for some cardinal κ.

We develop here a version of abstract homotopical algebra based onhomotopy kernels andcokernels, which are particular homotopy limits and colimits. These notions are introduced in anh-category, a sort of two-dimensional context more general than a 2-category, abstracting thenearly 2-categorical properties of topological spaces, continuous maps and homotopies. A setting which applies also, at different extents, to cubical or simplicial sets, chain complexes, chain algebras, ... and in which homotopical algebra can be established as a two-dimensional enrichment of homological algebra.Actually, a hierarchy of notions ofh-,h1-, ...h4-categories is introduced, through progressive enrichment of thevertical structure of homotopies, so that the strongest notion,h4-category, is a sort of relaxed 2-category. After investigating homotopy pullbacks and homotopical diagrammatical lemmas in these settings, we introduceright semihomotopical categories, ash-categories provided with terminal object and homotopy cokernels (mapping cones), andright homotopical categories, provided also with anh4-structure and verifying second-order regularity properties forh-cokernels.In these frames we study the Puppe sequence of a map, its comparison with the sequence of iterated homotopy cokernels and theh-cogroup structure of the suspension endofunctor. Left (semi-) homotopical categories, based on homotopy kernels, give the fibration sequence of a map and theh-group of loops. Finally, the self-dual notion of homotopical categories is considered, together with their stability properties.Lavoro esequito nell'ambito dei progetti di ricerca del MURST.  相似文献

In this note we consider crossed modules of groups (NG, G→Aut(N)), as a homotopy version of the inclusion NG of a normal subgroup. Our main observation is a characterization of the underlying map NG of a crossed module in terms of a simplicial group structure on the associated bar construction. This approach allows for “natural” generalizations to other monoidal categories, in particular we consider briefly what we call “normal maps” between simplicial groups.  相似文献
