The solvent-polarity dependence and temporal characteristics of the transient absorption of 4-(dimethylamino)benzonitrile, DMABN, and 4-(dimethylamino)benzethyne, DMABE, demonstrate the presence of the πσ*-state absorption at about 700 nm and the ππ* (LE)-state absorption at about 520 nm and 450 nm. The rise and decay times of the πσ*-state transient differ from those of the ππ*-state transients in both compounds. Moreover, the peak position of the πσ*-state absorption is blue-shifted and more intense in acetonitrile as compared to n-hexane, whereas the band positions of the ππ*-state absorptions are essentially the same in the two solvents. For DMABN in acetonitrile, the rise time (~4.3 ps) of the twisted intramolecular charge transfer (TICT)-state transient at 330 nm is identical to the decay time of the πσ*-state transient. The 4.8 ns decay time of the TICT-state absorption of DMABN is longer than the 2.9 ns decay time of the intramolecular charge-transfer (ICT) fluorescence, indicating that the fluorescent ICT state differs from the TICT state observed in transient absorption. These results are consistent with the presence of a low-lying πσ* state in DMABN (and DMABE), and the role the πσ* state plays in the formation of the TICT state of DMABN.  相似文献

The charge mobility is a key property in many electro-optical materials, with charge transfer (CT) taking place in a solid matrix of molecules. Large intermolecular electronic interaction is one of the key factors for a good CT rate, which is dependent on both intra- and intermolecular structures. The connection of the molecular structure with the intermolecular CT property would facilitate the search for a new material with desirable CT property, but currently it is still quite limited by the lack of knowledge for intermolecular configurations. In the present work, we study factors influencing the intermolecular configurations, and subsequently the CT property, in tris(8-hydroxyquinolinato) aluminium(III) (AlQ(3)) from all currently available crystal structures. We found that there exists a pair of CH-π interactions in a good majority of the π-π stacked bimolecular configurations. Such CH-π and π-π interacting structures are also seen in the crystal structures of many other similar molecules. With both experimental and simulated structures, we show that the CH-π interaction stabilizes the bimolecular configurations, and drives the structure towards a region with a higher electron transfer coupling and lower hole transfer coupling. This effect likely affects the electron transport property of AlQ(3), since it is consistent with recent experimental results, where AlQ(3) analogs with their CH-π interaction blocked either require a higher operating voltage in light-emitting devices [Sapochak et al., J. Am. Chem. Soc., 2001, 123, 6300], or become bipolar in their charge mobilities [Liao et al., J. Am. Chem. Soc., 2009, 131, 763]. CH-π interaction is commonly seen in aromatic molecules, which are frequently used as building blocks in molecules for electro-optical applications. Our work points out a possible way to enhance the desired CT property in the design of new materials.  相似文献

A consistent model which permits rationalization and estimation of the solvatochromic behaviour of coordination compounds with metal-to-ligand charge transfer absorption bands is described. The model shows how the changing relationship between metal-ligand bond polarities in the ground and MLCT excited state determines whether negative, positive, or no solvatochromism results. Data for seventeen mononuclear and binuclear tetra- and pentacarbonyltungsten complexes are analyzed in order to illustrate and substantiate different electronic situations leading to various degrees of solvatochromism. Ligand basicities, calculated Hückel molecular orbital coefficients, ESR coupling constants, and metal fragment oxidation potentials are used to estimate the ability of metal fragments and ligands for charge transfer in the excited state and the resulting solvatochromism of complexes.  相似文献

The surface charge of semiconductor nanoparticles, Q, is an important parameter which determines their electrokinetic behavior, stability in water and polar solvents, functions of optical and electronic devices, self-assembly properties, and interactions with cell membranes. We have developed a simple method for quantitative determination of Q in their native aqueous environment. The method does not require the knowledge of exact atomic structure or make assumptions about effects of drying on charge distribution. The method is based on titration of nanoparticle dispersion with a solution of oppositely charged polyelectrolyte. The point of complete neutralization is recognized as an inflection point on the dependence of fluorescence intensity on the amount of polyelectrolyte added. Thioglycolic acid-stabilized CdTe nanoparticles 2 nm in diameter were found to carry an average Q from -2.6 to -5.5 for pH 7.5 to 10, respectively. This charge is found to be smaller than that calculated theoretically for an analogous structure (i.e., Q = -8), presumably due to adsorption of Cd(2+) ions on the stabilizer shell and on Te atoms with unsaturated valence located on the side planes of CdTe tetrahedrons.  相似文献

The importance of electron-vibrational coupling for intermolecular and intramolecular electron-transfer processes is discussed on the basis of first-principles correlated quantum-mechanical calculations and of a dynamic vibronic approach. A new method is developed to calculate the surface charge densities and potentials of oxides in contact with electrolyte solution as functions of pH and ionic strength. For low ionic strength and not too far from p.z.c. (up to 3 pH units for 10–3 mol dm–3 NaCl) the previous model (Kosmulski, 1992) neglecting the ion exchange can be used but farther from p.z.c., correction for the ion exchange is necessary for some systems. This correction leads to increase of the calculated titration charge (that is not necessarily equal to the surface charge), but does not affect the diffuse charge and potential.  相似文献

Nanosized cerium and nitrogen co-doped TiO2 (Ce–TiO2?xNx) was synthesized by sol gel method and characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), FESEM, Fourier transform infrared, N2 adsorption and desorption methods, photoluminescence and ultraviolet–visible (UV–vis) DRS techniques. PXRD analysis shows the dopant decreases the crystallite sizes and slows the crystallization of the titania matrix. XPS confirm the existence of cerium ion in +3 or +4 state, and nitrogen in ?3 state in Ce–TiO2?xNx. The modified surface of TiO2 provides highly active sites for the dyes at the periphery of the Ce–O–Ti interface and also inhibits Ce particles from sintering. UV–visible DRS studies show that the metal–metal charge transfer (MMCT) of Ti/Ce assembly (Ti4+/Ce3+ → Ti3+/Ce4+) is responsible for the visible light photocatalytic activity. Photoluminescence was used to determine the effect of cerium ion on the electron–hole pair separation between the two interfaces Ce–TiO2?xNx and Ce2O3. This separation increases with the increase of cerium and nitrogen ion concentrations of doped samples. The degradation kinetics of methylene blue and methyl violet dyes in the presence of sol gel TiO2, Ce–TiO2?xNx and commercial Degussa P25 was determined. The higher visible light activity of Ce–TiO2?xNx was due to the participation of MMCT and interfacial charge transfer mechanism.  相似文献

The ground state structures of 5,5″-diperfluorophenyl-2,2′:5′,2″:5″,2‴-quaterthiophene (1), 5,5′-bis{1-[4-(thien-2-yl)perfluorophenyl]}-2,2′-dithiophene (2), 4,4′-bis[5-(2,2′-dithiophenyl)]-perfluorobiphenyl (3), 5,5″-diperfluorophenyl-2,2′:5′,2″-tertthiophene (4), 5,5′-diperfluorophenyl-2,2′-dihiophene (5), and 5,5-diperfluorophenylthiophene (6) have been optimized at the B3LYP/6-31G(d), B3LYP/6-31G(d,p), PBE0/6-31G(d), and PBE0/6-31G(d,p) level of theories. The B3LYP/6-31+G(d) and PBE0/6-31+G(d) level of theories have been applied to investigate the absorption spectra. The PBE0 functional is good to predict the C–S bond lengths while the C–F bond lengths are good envisaged with B3LYP functional. The increment of thiophene rings between two perfluoroarene rings leads to red shift in absorption spectra. The electron affinities are energetically destabilized while energetic stabilization of the radical-cation increases by decreasing the thiophene rings from four to one. The perfluoroarene rings leads to enhance the electron injection.  相似文献

A new donor-π-acceptor (D-π-A) type isophorone dye was synthesized by the condensation reaction between 2-(3,5,5-trimethylcyclohex-2-enylidene)-malononitrile and indole-3-carboxaldehyde. The chemical structure of the dye was characterized by 1H NMR, EA and MS. A novel, chromogenic, fluorescent dye based on indol as donor unit and isophorone as acceptor unit displayed marked UV-visible absorption changes and highly selective fluorescence quenching in the presence of fluoride ion. The dye also exhibited sizeable colour changes when used as a pH-induced molecular switch and as a detector for volatile organic compounds. The absorption and fluorescent intensity of the dye can be reversibly selected by protonation/deprotonation of the amine moiety via control of intramolecular charge transfer (ICT), leading to a molecular switch with "on" and "off" states.  相似文献

Only four types of dimeric precursors [RuCl2(η6-arene)]2 for the synthesis of Noyori’s half sandwich diamine catalysts [RuCl(TsDPEN)(η6-arene)] are commercially available, yet so far no study has tried to systematically evaluate how these systems perform during the asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of various 3,4-dihydroisoquinolines (i.e., the typical substrates for Noyori asymmetric transfer hydrogenation benchmarking). Experiments combined with molecular modeling allowed us to assess their properties and formulate a hypothesis clarifying the difference in enantioselectivity of these systems.  相似文献

With the aim of investigating qualitatively and quantitatively the impact of using excited state relaxed or unrelaxed density for the estimation of nature and characteristic of electronic excited states, we analyzed the behavior of 52 exchange correlation functionals for the prediction of density‐based indexes such as those recently introduced in literature to evaluate the charge transfer distance (DCT) (Le Bahers et al. J. Chem. Theory Comput. 2011, 7, 2498) in the case of a prototype family of push–pull dyes. Our results show that while a qualitatively consistent assessment of the nature of the excited states is obtained using either the unrelaxed or the relaxed density, from a quantitative standpoint we observe large discrepancies in the charge transfer distance for electronic transitions having substantial CT character. This behavior is independent of nature of the exchange–correlation functional used. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

A spectrophotometric method for the determination of chlorhexidine acetate is described. The reaction between chlorhexidine acetate and chloranil took place in an alcohol-acetone solution at room temperature. The composition of the charge transfer complex is 1:2. Beer's law is obeyed in the concentration range of 15--270 μg·mL-1 with correlation coefficient 0.9995. The apparent molar absorptivity is 2.21×103 L·mol-1·cm-1 at 412 nm. The method is accurate (with a recovery of 100±1.6%) and precise (RSD=1.0%). It was successfully applied to determine chlorhexidine acetate in suppository or disinfectant solution.  相似文献

The molecular structure and conformation of 1,1′-dimethyl-bicyclopropyl have been studied by the gas electron diffraction method, extended by normal coordinate and molecular mechenics calculations.
