Several series of light‐emitting oligo(p‐phenylene‐vinylene)s (BIII and BV series containing three‐ and five‐conjugated phenylene rings) with various side groups and end groups attached to the cores were synthesized and characterized. The analogous PBV polymers, derived from the BV series, were also synthesized and investigated. Blue and greenish light emissions were observed in the photoluminescence (PL) and electroluminescence (EL) spectra of the blend and pure films with these π‐conjugated structures. In contrast to the three‐conjugated ring oligomers, the five‐conjugated ring derivatives (oligomers and polymers) had larger maximum emission wavelength values of PL and EL emissions. Mesomorphism was introduced into the BV series by the replacement of three‐conjugated rings (BIII series) with five‐conjugated phenyl cores (BV series). The liquid‐crystalline properties of the BV series with end groups (on both end rings) were better than those of analogous BV‐OC8 without end groups. Polarized PL emissions were obtained by the alignment of liquid‐crystalline phase in rubbing cells. Upon heating, different PL emission wavelengths and intensities were observed in various phases. Not only the solubility and thermal properties but also the PL and EL properties could be effectively adjusted by the attachment of flexible alkoxy groups either on the central rings or on both end rings of the conjugated cores. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Disilane- and disiloxane-bridged bipyridyls ( DSBPy and DSOBPy ) were prepared and their optical properties were investigated in comparison with those of previously reported monosilane- and monogermane-bridged counterparts. The UV–visible absorption and photoluminescence bands of DSBPy and DSOBPy were blue-shifted as a result of elongation of the bridging units from monosilane and monogermane to disilane and disiloxane, likely due to the enhanced twisting of the bipyridyl units. Phosphorescent complexes DSBPy–Cu and DSOBPy–Cu were prepared by the interaction of DSBPy and DSOBPy with Cu2I2(PPh3)2. X-ray diffraction studies of their single-crystal structures revealed polymeric structures composed of repeat units of DSBPy or DSOBPy and [CuII(PPh3)]2. Organic light-emitting diodes with the ITO/PEDOT:PSS/ DSBPy–Cu or DSOBPy–Cu :PCTSQ/TAZ/Al structure were fabricated to examine the applications of the complexes as electroluminescent materials. The devices emitted yellow light with emission maxima at approximately 600 nm, and maximal luminance reached 120 and 190 cd m−2 for devices based on DSBPy–Cu and DSOBPy–Cu , respectively. The performance of the DSOBPy–Cu -based device was improved by using TAZ as the dopant of the emissive layer, and luminance was increased to 390 cd m−2.  相似文献

Three new conjugated poly(p‐phenylene vinylene) (PPV) derivatives bearing triphenylamine side‐chain through a vinylene bridge, poly(2‐(4′‐(diphenylamino)phenylenevinyl)‐1,4‐phenylene‐vinylene) (DP‐PPV), poly(2‐(3′‐(3″,7″‐dimethyloctyloxy)phenyl)‐1,4‐phenylenevinylene‐alt‐2‐(4′‐ (diphenylamino)phenylenevinyl)‐1,4‐phenylenevinylene) (DODP‐PPV), and poly(2‐(4′‐(diphenylamino)phenylenevinyl)‐1,4‐phenylenevinylene‐co‐2‐(3′,5′‐bis(3″,7″‐dimethyloctyloxy)‐1,4‐phenylenevinylene) (DP‐co‐BD‐PPV), were synthesized according to the Gilch or Wittig method. Among the three polymers, the copolymer DP‐co‐BD‐PPV is soluble in common solvents with good thermal stability with 5% weight loss at temperatures higher than 386°C. The weight‐average molecular weight (Mw) and polydispersity index (PDI) of DP‐co‐BD‐PPV were 1.83 × 105 and 2.33, respectively. The single‐layer polymer light‐emitting diodes (PLEDs) with the configuration of Indium tin oxide (ITO)/poly (3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene): poly(4‐styrene sulfonate)(PEDOT:PSS)/DP‐co‐BD‐PPV/Ca/Al were fabricated. The PLED emitted yellow‐green light with the turn‐on voltage of ca. 4.9 V, the maximum luminance of ca. 990 cd/m2 at 15.8 V, and the maximum electroluminescence (EL) efficiency of 0.22 cd/A. Four new Schiff‐base type conjugative polymers (CPs), that is, Py 1‐4 carrying a strong electron‐withdrawing cyanopyridine scaffold coupled with different electron‐donating aromatic/heteroaromatic moieties were synthesized from their respective co‐monomers by simple poly‐condensation route. They were subjected to structural, thermal, photophysical, and electrochemical characterizations and theoretical investigations in order to identify their suitability in polymer light‐emitting diode (PLED) application. All these polymers showed good film‐forming ability and exhibited favorable photophysical behaviors with an optical bandgap in the order of 2.54‐2.68 eV. Further, their electrochemical data were used to evaluate highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) levels. Finally, Py 1‐4 were successfully employed as blue‐light emitter in the construction of new ITO/PEDOT:PSS/ Py 1‐4 /Al configured light‐emitting diodes (LED), and the fabricated devices demonstrated stable blue electroluminescence behavior endorsing an effective electrons injection in the PLEDs.  相似文献

A series of novel conjugated poly(aryleneethynylene)s (PAEs) co‐containing BODIPY have been synthesized and characterized, and their third‐order nonlinear optical properties were studied using the Z‐scan technique. Interestingly, by introducing the BODIPY skeleton into the PAE backbone, the polymers showed that their nonlinear optical properties were dependent on the BODIPY component. From poly‐4 to poly‐1, the third‐order nonlinear optical properties of the polymers enhanced regularly with the increase of the BODIPY component of the copolymers, indicating that the BODIPY component played decisive roles in enhancing the nonlinear optical properties. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Room‐temperature long‐lived near‐IR phosphorescence of boron‐dipyrromethene (BODIPY) was observed (λem=770 nm, ΦP=3.5 %, τP=128.4 μs). Our molecular‐design strategy is to attach PtII coordination centers directly onto the BODIPY π‐core using acetylide bonds, rather than on the periphery of the BODIPY core, thus maximizing the heavy‐atom effect of PtII. In this case, the intersystem crossing (ISC) is facilitated and the radiative decay of the T1 excited state of BODIPY is observed, that is, the phosphorescence of BODIPY. The complex shows strong absorption in the visible range (ε=53800 M ?1 cm?1 at 574 nm), which is rare for PtII–acetylide complexes. The complex is dual emissive with 3M LCT emission at 660 nm and the 3IL emission at 770 nm. The T1 excited state of the complex is mainly localized on the BODIPY moiety (i.e. 3IL state, as determined by steady‐state and time‐resolved spectroscopy, 77 K emission spectra, and spin‐density analysis). The strong visible‐light‐harvesting ability and long‐lived T1 excite state of the complex were used for triplet‐triplet annihilation based upconversion and an upconversion quantum yield of 5.2 % was observed. The overall upconversion capability (η=ε×ΦUC) of this complex is remarkable considering its strong absorption. The model complex, without the BODIPY moiety, gives no upconversion under the same experimental conditions. Our work paves the way for access to transition‐metal complexes that show strong absorption of visible light and long‐lived 3IL excited states, which are important for applications in photovoltaics, photocatalysis, and upconversions, etc.  相似文献

Three new poly(p‐phenylenevinylene) derivatives—PO, POD, and POP—with oxadiazole and pyridine rings along the main chain were synthesized via Heck coupling. The polymers were amorphous and dissolved readily in common organic solvents. They showed relatively low glass‐transition temperatures (up to 42 °C) and satisfactory thermal stability. Solutions of the polymers emitted blue‐greenish light with photoluminescence (PL) emission maxima around 460 nm and PL quantum yields of 0.28–0.49. Thin films of the polymers displayed PL emission maxima at 461–521 nm, and their tendency to form aggregates was significantly influenced by the chemical structure. Light‐emitting diodes with polymers PO and POP, with an indium tin oxide/poly(ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT)/polymer/Ca configuration, emitted yellow and green light, respectively, and this could be attributed to excimer emission. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Photochemical ligation is important in biomaterials engineering for spatiotemporal control of biochemical processes. Such reactions however generally require activation by high energy UV or short wavelength blue light, which can limit their use as a consequence of the potential of these high energy light sources to damage living cells. Herein, we present an additive‐free, biocompatible, chemical ligation triggered by mild visible light. BODIPY dyes with a pendant thioether attached at the meso‐position undergo photolysis of the [C?S] bond under green light (λ=530 nm) excitation, producing an ion pair intermediate that can react specifically with a propiolate group. The utility of this photochemical ligation in materials science is demonstrated by the fabrication of hydrogels with specific architectures, photo‐immobilization of biomacromolecules, and live cell encapsulation within a hydrogel scaffold.  相似文献

Based on a donor–acceptor framework, several conjugates have been designed and prepared in which an electron‐donor moiety, ytterbium(III) porphyrinate (YbPor), was linked through an ethynyl bridge to an electron‐acceptor moiety, boron dipyrromethene (BODIPY). Photoluminescence studies demonstrated efficient energy transfer from the BODIPY moiety to the YbPor counterpart. When conjugated with the YbPor moiety, the BODIPY moiety served as an antenna to harvest the lower‐energy visible light, subsequently transferring its energy to the YbPor counterpart, and, consequently, sensitizing the YbIII emission in the near‐infrared (NIR) region with a quantum efficiency of up to 0.73 % and a lifetime of around 40 μs. Moreover, these conjugates exhibited large two‐photon‐absorption cross‐sections that ranged from 1048–2226 GM and strong two‐photon‐induced NIR emission.  相似文献

对四种不同结构的吡唑啉化合物在溶液和薄膜中的光致发光行为及作为掺杂染料组成两种不同结构电致发光(EL)器件的发光行为进行了研究。结果表明,具有相同共轭部分,但未成环的腙类化合物,不论在溶液中或在固相条件下,都不能很好的发射荧光。而构成了吡唑啉环的化合物,则在上述两种情况下都有较强的荧光发射能力。在5位处联有苯基的非平面状吡唑啉化合物,由于不易于结晶化而有良好的成膜性能;相反,在5位处无苯环联结者,如EP3,则由于其易于结晶化,因而不利于器件的制作。  相似文献

Two new poly(fluorenediylvinylene)s (CV and CF) with coumarin side chains were synthesized via Heck coupling. The coumarin segments were attached to the C‐9 of fluorene through alkyl spacers. The polymers were soluble in common organic solvents such as tetrahydrofuran (THF), chloroform, dichloromethane, and toluene. The photoluminescence (PL), electroluminescence (EL), and electrochemical behavior of these polymers were studied. CV and CF thin films exhibited broad‐band, bluish‐green and orange PL emissions, with maxima at 475 and 585 nm, respectively. These PL maxima were redshifted in comparison with those measured in THF solutions. Aggregate formation played an important role in the solid state. The aggregation was more pronounced in CF thin films than CV thin films. Both polymers oxidized and reduced irreversibly. Light‐emitting devices (LEDs) with indium tin oxide hole‐injecting and aluminum electron‐injecting electrodes were prepared and studied. Helical carbazole‐based BODIPY analogues were readily synthesized via aza[7]helicenes. The structures of azahelicene‐incorporated BF2 dyes were elucidated by x‐ray diffraction analysis. DFT calculations revealed that the π‐conjugated system expanded from the helicene moiety to the BODIPY framework. The azahelicene‐fused boron complexes showed the Cotton effects and the circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) in the visible region. Furthermore, an axially chiral binaphthyl group was attached to the helically chiral dyes, which enhanced the chiroptical properties.  相似文献

The synthesis and application of a photoactivatable boron‐alkylated BODIPY probe for localization‐based super‐resolution microscopy is reported. Photoactivation and excitation of the probe is achieved by a previously unknown boron‐photodealkylation reaction with a single low‐power visible laser and without requiring the addition of reducing agents or oxygen scavengers in the imaging buffer. These features lead to a versatile probe for localization‐based microscopy of biological systems. The probe can be easily linked to nucleophile‐containing molecules to target specific cellular organelles. By attaching paclitaxel to the photoactivatable BODIPY, in vitro and in vivo super‐resolution imaging of microtubules is demonstrated. This is the first example of single‐molecule localization‐based super‐resolution microscopy using a visible‐light‐activated BODIPY compound as a fluorescent probe.  相似文献

The crystal structures and photophysical properties of mononuclear [(RC N N)PtX](ClO4)n ((RC N N)=3-(6'-(2'-naphthyl)-2'-pyridyl)isoquinolinyl and derivatives; X=Cl, n=0; X=PPh(3) or PCy(3), n=1), dinuclear [(RC N N)2Pt2(mu-dppm)](ClO4)2 (dppm=bis(diphenyphosphino)methyl) and trinuclear [(RC N N)3Pt3(mu-dpmp)](ClO4)3 (dpmp=bis(diphenylphosphinomethyl)phenylphosphine) complexes are presented. The crystal structures show extensive intra- and/or intermolecular pipi interactions; the two (RC N N) planes of [(RC N N)2Pt2(mu-dppm)](ClO4)2 (R=Ph, 3,5-tBu2Ph or 3,5-(CF3)2Ph) are in a nearly eclipsed configuration with torsion angles close to 0 degrees. [(RC N N)PtCl], [(RC N N)2Pt2(mu-dppm)](ClO4)2, and [(RC N N)3Pt3(mu-dpmp)](ClO4)3 are strongly emissive with quantum yields of up to 0.68 in CH2Cl2 or MeCN solution at room temperature. The [(RC N N)PtCl] complexes have a high thermal stability (T(d)=470-549 degrees C). High-performance light-emitting devices containing [(RC N N)PtCl] (R=H or 3,5-tBu2Ph) as a light-emitting material have been fabricated; they have a maximum luminance of 63,000 cd m(-2) and CIE 1931 coordinates at x=0.36, y=0.54.  相似文献
