A novel shape–memory nanocomposite that exhibits electrical actuation capabilities was fabricated by incorporating a conductive multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) nanopaper into shape–memory polymer matrix. The self‐assembled MWCNT nanopaper was made on hydrophilic polycarbonate membrane. This process was based on well‐defined dispersion of the nanosized individual MWCNT and controlled traditional pressure vacuum deposition procedure. The self‐assembled MWCNTs in the nanopaper provided a percolating conductive network with a large interfacial area. It not only offered a high electrical conductivity but also simultaneously enhanced recovery speed by electrically resistive heating, with increasing the content of MWCNT nanopaper in nanocomposite. In general, the high electrical conductivity (EC) comes into conflict with the good flexibility and high strength of carbon nanotube (CNT)/polyaniline (PANI) composites. In other words, a high CNT content will bring about a high EC but lead to a low flexibility and strength due to the CNT‐constrained matrix deformation and CNT aggregation. In this work, a highly conductive, flexible and strong CNT/PANI composite film prepared via a facile solvent‐evaporation method is readily obtained by a cold stretching. The cold stretching is conducted at room temperature for the CNT/PANI film. It is observed that the cold stretching process leads to an unexpectedly enhanced EC. The as‐obtained EC of 231 S/cm is much higher than that (2 – 50 S/cm) of the previously reported CNT/PANI composite films. Meanwhile, the strength is obviously improved over that of the pure PANI film and the good flexibility is maintained to a high degree by the introduction of a proper CNT content. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Poly(lactic acid)‐grafted multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNT‐g‐PLA) were prepared by the direct melt‐polycondensation of L ‐lactic acid with carboxylic acid‐functionalized MWNT (MWNT‐COOH) and then mixed with a commercially available neat PLA to prepare PLA/MWNT‐g‐PLA nanocomposites. Morphological, thermal, mechanical, and electrical characteristics of PLA/MWNT‐g‐PLA nanocomposites were investigated as a function of the MWNT content and compared with those of the neat PLA, PLA/MWNT, and PLA/MWNT‐COOH nanocomposites. It was identified from FE‐SEM images that PLA/MWNT‐g‐PLA nanocomposites exhibit good dispersion of MWNT‐g‐PLA in the PLA matrix, while PLA/MWNT and PLA/MWNT‐COOH nanocomposites display MWNT aggregates. As a result, initial moduli and tensile strengths of PLA/MWNT‐g‐PLA composites are much higher than those of neat PLA, PLA/MWNT, and PLA/MWNT‐COOH, which stems from the efficient reinforcing effect of MWNT‐g‐PLA in the PLA matrix. In addition, the crystallization rate of PLA/MWNT‐g‐PLA nanocomposites is faster than those of neat PLA, PLA/MWNT, and PLA/MWNT‐COOH, since MWNT‐g‐PLA dispersed in the PLA matrix serves efficiently as a nucleating agent. It is interesting that, unlike PLA/MWNT nanocomposites, surface resistivities of PLA/MWNT‐g‐PLA nanocomposites did not change noticeably depending on the MWNT content, demonstrating that MWNTs in PLA/MWNT‐g‐PLA are wrapped with the PLA chains of MWNT‐g‐PLA. An instability condition is derived for the Hartree–Fock solution so that it can be applied to the system in which the highest occupied and the lowest unoccupied bands cross at the in‐between point in the Brillouin zone. The instability check developed here is further applied to a metallic single‐walled carbon nanotube having the two‐crossing bands toward prediction of its instability. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A C–N-doped TiO2 nanotube (NT)/carbon nanorod composite is fabricated by chemical vapor deposition (CVD). Carbon nanorods are grown from the TiO2 NTs, and partly graphitized, while TiO2 is in the mixture of anatase and rutile. The C–N doping shifts the absorption edge of TiO2 NTs to the visible light region; the formed carbon nanorods promote the charge carrier transfer from the TiO2 surface to the electrolyte. Under the simulated solar light irradiation, the C–N-doped TiO2 NTs show higher photocatalytic activity in the degradation of methyl orange (MO) than the undoped TiO2 NTs. 相似文献

Precursor of polyimide, polyamic acid has been prepared sucessfully. Acid‐modified carbon nanotube (MWCNT) was grafted with soluble polyimide then was added to the polyamic acid and heated to 300 °C to form polyimide/carbon nanotube composite via imidation. Morphology, mechanical properties and electrical resistivity of the MWCNT/polyimide composites have been studied. Transmission electron microscope microphotographs show that the diameter of soluble polyimide‐grafted MWCNT was increased from 30–60 nm to 200 nm, that is a thickness of 70–85 nm of the soluble polyimide was grafted on the MWCNT surface. PI‐g‐MWCNT was well dispersed in the polymer matrix. Percolation threshold of MWCNT/polyimide composites has been investigated. PI‐g‐MWCNT/PI composites exhibit lower electrical resistivity than that of the acid‐modified MWCNT/PI composites. The surface resistivity of 5.0 phr MWCNT/polyimide composites was 2.82 × 108 Ω/cm2 (PI‐g‐MWCNT) and 2.53 × 109 Ω/cm2 (acid‐modified MWCNT). The volume resistivity of 5.0 phr MWCNT/polyimide composites was 8.77 × 106 Ω cm (PI‐g‐MWCNT) and 1.33 × 1013 Ω cm (acid‐modified MWCNT).Tensile strength and Young's modulus increased significantly with the increase of MWCNT content. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The preparation and characterization of octadecylsilane, C18, monolayers on indium–tin oxide (ITO) have been studied carefully. A reproducible procedure was developed for the formation of C18/ITO employing octadecyltrimethoxysilane (OTMS) as a monomer. The films were studied by means of electrochemistry, wettability, infrared and atomic force microscopy. All these measurements provide evidence for the formation of a disorganized, ‘brush-type’ monolayer with a maximum surface fractional coverage of 0.90±0.04. The surface coverage can be controlled through the silanization time. The applications and implications of such disorganized monolayers in electroanalytical chemistry are discussed. 相似文献

Processing, electrical, and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding behaviors of carbon nanotube (CNT)/acrylonitrile–butadiene–styrene (ABS) nanocomposites were studied as function of CNT concentration. The nanocomposites were prepared by melt mixing followed by compression molding. The selective and good level of dispersion of CNT in the styrene–acrylonitrile section of the ABS polymer was found to create conductive networks in the ABS matrix at a nanofiller loading of 0.75 wt %. At this nanofiller loading, the nanocomposite electrical conductivity was 10?5 S/m. This conductivity makes the nanocomposite suitable for electrostatic discharge protection applications. The EMI shielding effectiveness of the nanocomposites increased with the increase in nanofiller concentration. In the 100–1500 MHz frequency range, 1.1 mm thick plates made of ABS nanocomposite filled with 5 wt % CNT exhibit an EMI shielding effectiveness of 24 dB. At this shielding level, the nanocomposite is suitable for a broad range of applications. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part B: Polym Phys, 2012 相似文献

The reaction of the alternating ethylene–carbon monoxide copolymer with Lawesson's reagent resulted in the conversion of 75% of the carbonyl groups to thiophene units. A few thioketone groups were also present in the derived polymer. A polymer with furan units in the backbone was formed upon treatment of the alternating propylene–carbon monoxide copolymer with P2O5. Depending on the reaction conditions, up to 90% of the carbonyl groups were converted. Finally, 1,4-polyalcohols were prepared from the alternating propylene-carbon monoxide copolymer by reduction. Hydrogenation using Raney nickel as catalyst resulted in the reduction of 60% of the carbonyl groups, whereas reaction with LiAlH4 at room temperature caused the reduction of 85% of the carbonyl groups. The glass transition temperature was found to increase monotonically with increasing concentration of hydroxyl groups in the polymer backbone. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 相似文献

Recently, carbon nanofibers have become an innovative reinforcing filler that has drawn increased attention from researchers. In this work, the reinforcement of acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) with carbon nanofibers (CNFs) was studied to determine the potential of carbon nanofibers as reinforcing filler in rubber technology. Furthermore, the performance of NBR compounds filled with carbon nanofibers was compared with the composites containing carbon black characterized by spherical particle type. Filler dispersion in elastomer matrix plays an essential role in polymer reinforcement, so we also analyzed the influence of dispersing agents on the performance of NBR composites. We applied several types of dispersing agents: anionic, cationic, nonionic, and ionic liquids. The fillers were characterized by dibutylphtalate absorption analysis, aggregate size, and rheological properties of filler suspensions. The vulcanization kinetics of rubber compounds, crosslink density, mechanical properties, hysteresis, and conductive properties of vulcanizates were also investigated. Moreover, scanning electron microscopy images were used to determine the filler dispersion in the elastomer matrix. The incorporation of the carbon nanofibers has a superior influence on the tensile strength of NBR compared with the samples containing carbon black. It was observed that addition of studied dispersing agents affected the performance of NBR/CNF and NBR/carbon black materials. Especially, the application of nonylphenyl poly(ethylene glycol) ether and 1‐butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate contributed to enhanced mechanical properties and electrical conductivity of NBR/CNF composites. 相似文献

Industrial risks increate with technological progress. The study of potential risks is routine in the pharmaceutical–chemical industry. Here, like in other industrial activities, a risk coefficient is introduced that varies within space time limits.A control system of environmental safety and health monitoring processes should be based on the data obtained from Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP).The space variable influences the chemical risk coefficient that applies to the whole the production cycle (including waste recycling). For the sake of prevention, many enterprises have adopted the integrated management system, which is now moving to an additional required feature: environment and health protection and safety assurance inside and outside the industrial area (in compliance with UNI, ISO 14000 and OHSAS 18001standards).Our goal is to examine the technological–scientific–environmental changes in the pharmaceutical–chemical sector in order to asses the new extent of chemical regarding management systems. This will entail a cultural change that will call for the necessary economic strategies for industries to implement the appropriate environmental–technological programs. 相似文献

The simultaneous promotion in mechanical and electrical properties of rigid polyurethane (RPU) is an important task for expanding potential application. In this work, carbon fibers (CFs) reinforced RPU composites were prepared with the goal of improving mechanical and electrical properties. Metallized CFs meet our performance requirements and can be easily achieved via electrodeposition. However, the weak bonding strength in fiber‐metal‐RPU interface restricts their application. Inspired by the reducibility and wonderful adhesion of dopamine (DA), we proposed a new and efficient electrochemical method to fabricate metallized CFs, where DA polymerization was simultaneously integrated coupled with the reduction of metal ions (Ni2+). The characterization results helped us to gain insight about the reaction mechanism, which was never reported as far as we know. Compared with pure RPU, the tensile, interlaminar shear and impact strength of polydopamine (PDA)‐nickel (Ni) modified CFs/RPU composites were improved by 11.2%, 21.0%, and 78.0%, respectively, which attributed to the strong interfacial adhesion, including mechanical interlocking and chemical crosslinking between treated CFs and RPU. In addition, the PDA‐Ni surface treatment method also affected the dispersion of short CFs in the RPU, which increased the possibility of conductor contact and reduced insulator between fibers networks, resulting in higher electrical conductivity. 相似文献

A new apparatus based on the circulation method was developed to measure the solubility of metal complexes in supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) at a wide range of temperatures and pressures. A UV–vis spectrometer, which was connected to a small saturation cell through optical fibers, was used to determine solubility. The solubilities of cobalt(III) acetylacetonate (Co(acac)3) and chromium(III) acetylacetonate (Cr(acac)3) in scCO2 were measured to check the validity of both the apparatus and the method and to accumulate new solubility data. The solubility data for Cr(acac)3 obtained in this study were in good agreement with the data reported in the literature. The measured solubilities of Co(acac)3 and Cr(acac)3 were also correlated with the empirical equation including the three adjustable parameters, based on the equation proposed by Chrastil. The parameters were determined by fitting the equation to the experimental data for each metal complex and the calculated results closely replicated the experimental data. 相似文献

This study details an industrial process to prepare polypropylene (PP) composites reinforced with different loadings (0.5–10wt.%) of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) from a direct dilution of a masterbatch produced by an optimized extrusion compounding process. The work demonstrates how the anisotropy in the distribution of CNTs can have a positive effect on the electrical conductivity and fracture toughness of the resulting composites. The composite with the highest loading of CNTs had an electrical conductivity of 10?2 S/m comparable with those reported in the available literature. The composites showed anisotropy in their properties that seems to be caused by the non‐homogeneous distribution of the agglomerates produced by the orientation of the flow direction during the injection process. The composites produced in this work exhibited a fracture toughness up to 55% higher than neat PP and failed by polymer ductile tearing. It was found that the CNT agglomerates distributed throughout the matrix increased the toughness of PP by promoting plastic deformation of the matrix during the fracture process and by a slight load transfer between the polymer matrix and the CNTs of the agglomerates. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The mechanical and electrical properties of the phosphor‐doped nano‐silicon film (nc‐Si:H) prepared by the plasma‐enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) method under electric field have been studied by Tribolab system, which is equipped with nano‐electrical contact resistance (ECR) tool. During indentation, different voltages and loads were applied. The topography of the sample surface was studied by atomic force microscopy (AFM). The experimental results show that the roughness of the film is 5.69 nm; the electric current was measured through the sample/indenter tip with different loads at a fixed voltage, and it increased nonlinearly during the indentation. The maximum current value depth was shallower than the maximum depth of each indent due to the plasticity of the film. When the loading speed is increased to 250 µN/s, the microcrack occurred on the film; the hardness (H) and elastic modulus (E) changed with the voltage applied both in open circuit and in short circuit case, which resulted in different values of H/E rate from 0.082 to 0.096. H2 adsorption on Ag‐nanocluster/single‐walled carbon nanotube composites: A molecular dynamics study on the effects of nanocluster size, diameter, and chirality of nanotube 下载免费PDF全文
The H2 physisorption on AgN (with N = 32, 108, 256, 500, and 864)/carbon nanotube (CNT; in armchair and zigzag structures with diameters between 0.54 and 2.98 nm) composites were studied by molecular dynamic simulation to investigate the effect of nanocluster size, diameter, and chirality of nanotube on the adsorption phenomena. The calculations indicate that the effects of nanocluster properties are more important than those of the nanotube, in such a way that increase of nanocluster size, decreases the H2 adsorption. Also, the diameter and chirality of CNTs have considerable influence on the adsorption phenomena. As the diameter of nanotube is increased, the amount of adsorption is decreased. Moreover, H2 molecules have more tendencies to those nanoclusters located on the armchair nanotubes than the zigzag ones. Another important result is the reversibility of H2 adsorption on these materials in which the structure of composite in vacuum and after reduction of H2 pressure to zero, is not changed, considerably. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 相似文献

We report on the effect of processing conditions on rheology, thermal and electrical properties of nanocomposites containing 0.02–0.3 wt % multiwall carbon nanotubes in an epoxy resin. The influence of the sonication, the surface functionalization during mixing, as well as the application of external magnetic field (EMF) throughout the curing process was examined. Rheological tests combined with optical microscopy visualization are proved as a very useful methodology to determine the optimal processing conditions for the preparation of the nanocomposites. The Raman spectra provide evidence for more pronounced effect on the functionalized with hardener compositions, particularly by curing upon application of EMF. Different chain morphology of CNTs is created depending of the preparation conditions, which induced different effects on the thermal and electrical properties of the nanocomposites. The thermal degradation peak is significantly shifted towards higher temperatures by increasing the nanotube content, this confirming that even the small amount of carbon nanotubes produces a strong barrier effect for the volatile products during the degradation. The ac conductivity measurements revealed lower values of the percolation threshold (pc) in the range of 0.03–0.05 wt %. CNTs for the nanocomposites produced by preliminary dispersing of nanotubes in the epoxy resin, compared to those prepared by preliminary functionalization of the nanotubes in the amine hardener. This is attributed to the higher viscosity and stronger interfacial interactions of the amine hardener/CNT dispersion which restricts the reorganization of the nanotubes. The application of the EMF does not influence the pc value but the dc conductivity values (σdc) of the nanocomposites increased at about one order of magnitude due to the development of the aforementioned chain structure. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Super‐thick diamond‐like carbon (DLC) film is a potential protective coating in corrosive environments. In the present work, three kinds of DLC films whose thickness and modulation periods are 4 µm and 3, 21 µm and 17 and 21 µm and 7, respectively, were fabricated on stainless steel. The effect of different thickness and modulation periods on corrosion and tribocorrosion behaviour of the DLC‐coating stainless steel was investigated in 3.5 wt% NaCl aqueous solution by a ball‐on‐flat tribometer equipped with a three‐electrode electrochemical cell. The DLC‐coating stainless steel served as a working electrode, and its OCP and potentiodynamic polarization were monitored before and during rubbing. The wear–corrosion mechanism of the DLC films was investigated by SEM. The results showed that the increasing thickness can prolong significantly lifetime of DLC films in NaCl aqueous solution. In particular, the modulation period has a significant impact on the tribocorrosion resistance of the DLC super‐thick films. The study suggested that the increasing thickness of compressive stress layer could suppress film damage by reducing crack propagation rate. Thus, the super‐thick DLC film with thickness of 21 µm and 7 periods presented the best tribocorrosion resistance among all studied films. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献

The functionalization of multi‐walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) was achieved by grafting furfuryl amine (FA) onto the surfaces of MWNTs. Furthermore, the functional MWNTs were incorporated into carbon fabric composites and the tribological properties of the resulting composites were investigated systematically on a model ring‐on‐block test rig. Friction and wear tests revealed that the modified MWNTs filled carbon fabric composite has the highest wear resistance under all different sliding conditions. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) revealed that MWNTs were successfully functionalized and the modification led to an improvement in the dispersion of MWNTs, which played an important role on the enhanced tribological properties of carbon fabric composites. It can also be found that the friction and wear behavior of MWNTs filled carbon fabric composites are closely related with the sliding conditions such as sliding speed, load, and lubrication conditions.
