Let ρ Σ = h(|z|2) be a metric in a Riemann surface Σ, where h is a positive real function. Let H r 1 = {w = f(z)} be the family of a univalent ρ Σ harmonic mapping of the Euclidean annulus A(r 1, 1):= {z: r 1 < |z| < 1} onto a proper annulus A Σ of the Riemann surface Σ, which is subject to some geometric restrictions. It is shown that if A Σ is fixed, then sup{r 1: r 1 ≠ ∅} < 1. This generalizes similar results from the Euclidean case. The cases of Riemann and of hyperbolic harmonic mappings are treated in detail. Using the fact that the Gauss map of a surface with constant mean curvature (CMC) is a Riemann harmonic mapping, an application to the CMC surfaces is given (see Corollary 3.2). In addition, some new examples of hyperbolic and Riemann radial harmonic diffeomorphisms are given, which have inspired some new J. C. C. Nitsche-type conjectures for the class of these mappings.  相似文献

We give the new inequality related to the J. C. C. Nitsche conjecture (see [6]). Moreover, we consider the two- and three-dimensional case. LetA(r, 1)={z:r<|z|<1}. Nitsche's conjecture states that if there exists a univalent harmonic mapping from an annulusA(r, 1), to an annulusA(s, 1), thens is at most 2r/(r 2+1).Lyzzaik's result states thats<t wheret is the length of the Grötzsch's ring domain associated withA(r, 1) (see [5]). Weitsman's result states thats≤1/(1+1/2(r logr)2) (see [8]).Our result for two-dimensional space states thats≤1/(1+1/2 log2 r) which improves Weitsman's bound for allr, and Lyzzaik's bound forr close to 1. Let A2(D) be the Bergman space over the open unit disk D in the complex plane. Korenblum conjectured that there is an absolute constant c∈(0,1) such that whenever |f(z)|?|g(z)| in the annulus c<|z|<1, then ‖f(z)‖?‖g(z)‖. This conjecture had been solved by Hayman [W.K. Hayman, On a conjecture of Korenblum, Analysis (Munich) 19 (1999) 195-205. [1]], but the constant c in that paper is not optimal. Since then, there are many papers dealing with improving the upper and lower bounds for the best constant c. For example, in 2004 C. Wang gave an upper bound on c, that is, c<0.67795, and in 2006 A. Schuster gave a lower bound, c>0.21. In this paper we slightly improve the upper bound for c.  相似文献

Let v be a measure on a separable metric space. For t, q R,the centred Hausdorff measures µh with the gauge functionh(x, r) = rt(vB(x, r))q is studied. The dimension defined bythese measures plays an important role in the study of multifractals.It is shown that if v is a doubling measure, then µh isequivalent to the usual spherical measure, and thus they definethe same dimension. Moreover, it is shown that this is trueeven without the doubling condition, if q 1 and t 0 or ifq 0. An example in R2 is also given to show the surprisingfact that the above assertion is not necessarily true if 0 <q < 1. Another interesting question, which has been askedseveral times about the centred Hausdorff measure, is whetherit is Borel regular. A positive answer is given, using the aboveequivalence for all gauge functions mentioned above.  相似文献

Order and stability of multistep finite-difference discretizationsof the first-order linear hyperbolic equation u1 = a(x)ux areconsidered. We prove that if a stable method uses s upwind andrdownwind points and the coefficients depend only on the Courantnumber and on a(x) and its derivatives at the underlying gridpoint, then the order may not exceed r + s. This bound on orderis exactly half the bound of Strang & Iserles (1983) forconstant a. A polynomial of degree n in z–1 and n–1 in z isdefined by an interpolation projection from the space of functionsanalytic in the annulus r|z|R and continuous on its boundary.The points of interpolation are chosen to coincide with then roots of zn=Rnein (0<<2/n) and the n roots of zn=rn.The behaviour of the corresponding Lebesgue function is studied,and an estimate for the operator norm is obtained. We establish a criterion for the gradient ?R(D, z) of the conformal radius of a convex domain D to be conformal: the boundary ?D must be a circle. We obtain estimates for the coefficients K(r) for the K(r)-quasiconformal mappings ?R(D, z), D(r) ? D, 0 < r < 1, and supplement the results of Avkhadiev and Wirths concerning the structure of the boundary under diffeomorphic mappings of the domain D.  相似文献

This paper introduces the concept of bounded-norm matrix-inversemappings, i.e. mappings µ : RmxnRnxm such that, for allnonzero mxn matrices A, the matrix µ(A) is a generalizedinverse of A and ||µ(A)||> k/s(A), where K < 0 isa constant and s(A) is the nonzero singular value of A havingsmallest absolute value. It is shown how the definition of suchmappings is motivated by the need to ensure finite terminationof the inner-iterations of generalized elimination methods forthe solution of nonlinearly constrained optimization problems.The main result of the paper is that the mapping defined byµ(A) = Ab is a bounded-norm matrix-inverse mapping, providedthat the basic inverse Ab is calculated using Gaussian eliminationwith complete pivoting. The concept of bounded-norm matrix-inversemappings is then extended to that of boundednorm least-squaresmatrix-inverse mappings. It is proved that the mapping definedby µ(A) = Aß is a bounded-norm least-squaresmatrix-inverse mapping, provided that the basic least-squaresinverse Aß is calculated using the QR decompositionwith column pivoting.  相似文献

Suppose that G(x) is a form, or homogeneous polynomial, of odddegree d in s variables, with real coefficients. Schmidt [15]has shown that there exists a positive integer s0(d), whichdepends only on the degree d, so that if s s0(d), then thereis an x Zs\{0} satisfying the inequality |G(x)|<1. (1) In other words, if there are enough variables, in terms of thedegree only, then there is a nontrivial solution to (1). Lets0(d) be the minimum integer with the above property. In thecourse of proving this important result, Schmidt did not explicitlygive upper bounds for s0(d). His methods do indicate how todo so, although not very efficiently. However, in fact muchearlier, Pitman [13] provided explicit bounds in the case whenG is a cubic. We consider a general cubic form F(x) with realcoefficients, in s variables, and look at the inequality |F(x)|<1. (2) Specifically, Pitman showed that if s(1314)256–1, (3) then inequality (2) is non-trivially soluble in integers. Wepresent the following improvement of this bound.  相似文献

We introduce the notion of tracial topological rank for C*-algebras.In the commutative case, this notion coincides with the coveringdimension. Inductive limits of C*-algebrasof the form PMn(C(X))P,where X is a compact metric space with dim X k, and P is aprojection in Mn(C(X)), have tracial topological rank no morethan k. Non-nuclear C*-algebras can have small tracial topologicalrank. It is shown that if A is a simple unital C*-algebra withtracial topological rank k (< ), then

Let σq(n,s;r) denote the minimal cardinality of a q-ary code of length n, which is s-surjective with radius r. In order to lower-bound Kq(n,n−2) and σq(n,s;s−2) we introduce partition matrices and their transversals. Our approach leads to a short new proof of a classical bound of Rodemich on Kq(n,n−2) and to the new bound Kq(n,n−2)?3q−2n+2, improving the first iff 5?n<q?2n−4. It is proved that a cosine operator function C(·), withgenerator A, is locally of bounded semivariation if and onlyif u'(t) = Au(t)+f(t), t>0, u(0), u'(0)D(A), has a strongsolution for every continuous function f, if and only if thefunction , is twice continuously differentiable for every continuous function f, that is, C(·)has the maximal regularity property if and only if A is a boundedoperator.
