In this paper we study the limiting behavior of the hazard rate function of a coherent system 𝒮 whose components are independent and have discrete lifetimes. The lifetime of the system 𝒮 can be viewed as the lifetime of a parallel system consisting of the series systems obtained from the minimal paths of 𝒮. If we appropriately interpret the ‘strongest’ minimal path(s) of the system 𝒮, it will be shown that the limit of the hazard rate functions of 𝒮 is the same as that of the ‘strongest’ path(s) of 𝒮. Phase‐type distribution closure properties are utilized to devise algorithms for generating reliability functions of systems with basic structures. These structures include series, parallel, K‐out‐of‐N, and standby structures with perfect/imperfect switch. The algorithms form a method for system reliability modeling and analysis based on the relationship between the system lifetime and component lifetimes for general structures. The proposed method is suitable for functional system reliability analysis, which can produce reliability functions of systems with independent components instead of only system reliability values. Once the system reliability function is obtained, other reliability measures such as the system's hazard function and mean time to failure can be obtained efficiently using only matrix algebra. Dimensional and numerical comparisons with computerized symbolic processing are also presented to show the superiority of the proposed method.  相似文献

Let M be a regular linear ordinary differential operator of the n-th order, associated with certain homogeneous boundary conditions. Suppose that M is invertable. We provide sufficient conditions to split M into a product of lower order operators Mk, which may be singular at the endpoints of the given interval. To these splittings-which depend on the given boundary conditions-there corresponds a splitting of the associated Green's function. The results are applied in the theory of inverse-positive operators and the theory of totally positive Green's functions. These applications, in general, require the operators Mk to be singular. Moreover, for special classes of operators the splittings can effectively be used for solving boundary value problems numerically.  相似文献

The theory of chromatic derivatives leads to chromatic series which replace Taylor's series for bandlimited functions. For such functions, these series have a global convergence property not shared by Taylor's series. In this work the theory is extended to bandlimited functions of slow growth. This includes many signals of practical importance such as polynomials, periodic functions and almost periodic functions. This extension also enables us to get improved local convergence results for chromatic series.  相似文献

The concept of aging, which is very users in relability describes the adverse orbeneficial effects of age on the lifetime of systems. Several partial orderings of life distributionshave been introduced. In this article,some more partial orderings of life distributions are imtroduced mainly by means of the equilibrium distribution. We propose an axiomatic theory about this work based upon an original way intending the belonging idea. We think it would be necessary to distinguish among several uses of the word belonging, till now expressed by Peano's symbol. This theory is called “The theory of classes however the large ones» because we think that it comes up to the necessity don't to restrict the size of classes which are expressible by a foundational theory. It is a first order theory, showed by eight axioms; it alphabet includes a lot of infinitely simbols of belonging, one for each level, distinguished one from each other. We think that introducing a lot of symbols we can avoid the classical antinomies and we can extend the Von Neumann's process till we need. The last one restricted to distinguish between the sets and the proper classes. For us this becomes the distinction between the first and the second level. In fact this theory develops the main idea of N.B.C.'s according to which a proper class never belongs to some other class. According to our opinion a class can belong to a larger one because it is a different belonging from the belonging that exists between a set and a proper class.  相似文献

This paper proposes a new interpretation of intervals as classes of functions having the same domain. Interval operations are seen as operations on these classes. 针对有保质期约束的非即时易腐品,零售商可以在产品非腐败阶段和腐败阶段进行差异化定价来调整市场需求。即零售商可以调整产品非腐败阶段的定价策略,使得非即时易腐品在进入腐败阶段之前全部售出;或者在产品腐败阶段降低零售价格以刺激市场需求。因此,在需求依赖价格的假设下,本文研究了零售商关于有保质期约束的非即时易腐品的最优订购与定价决策。通过分析零售商单位时间利润函数的理论性质,得到了零售商的最优订购与定价策略。基于线性和指数型两种需求函数形式进行数值算例,可以发现针对保质期较长或者非腐败阶段较长的易腐品,零售商会延长订货周期来增加销售收入。特别是在指数型需求函数情境下,当市场需求与零售价格高度相关时,零售商更有意愿降价来刺激销量,从而使得易腐品在非腐败阶段内销售完毕。  相似文献

In recent work, Hickerson and the author demonstrated that it is useful to think of Appell–Lerch sums as partial theta functions. This notion can be used to relate identities involving partial theta functions with identities involving Appell–Lerch sums. In this sense, Appell–Lerch sums and partial theta functions appear to be dual to each other. This duality theory is not unlike that found by Andrews between various sets of identities of Rogers–Ramanujan type with respect to Baxter's solution to the hard hexagon model of statistical mechanics. As an application we construct bilateral q-series with mixed mock modular behaviour. In subsequent work we see that our bilateral series are well-suited for computing radial limits of Ramanujan's mock theta functions.  相似文献

It has been found recently that there exists a theory of functions with quaternionic values and in two real variables, which is determined by a Cauchy–Riemann‐type operator with quaternionic variable coefficients, and that is intimately related to the so‐called Mathieu equations. In this work, it is all explained as well as some basic facts of the arising quaternionic function theory. We establish analogues of the basic integral formulas of complex analysis such as Borel–Pompeiu's, Cauchy's, and so on, for this version of quaternionic function theory. This theory turns out to be in the same relation with the Schrödinger operator with special potential as the usual holomorphic functions in one complex variable, or quaternionic hyperholomorphic functions, or functions of Clifford analysis, are with the corresponding Laplace operator. A method based on Green's functions is proposed for the analysis of the steady-state dynamic response of bending-torsion coupled Timoshenko beam subjected to distributed and/or concentrated loadings. Damping effects on the bending and torsional directions are taken into account in the vibration equations. The elastic boundary conditions with bending-torsion coupling and damping effects are derived and the classical boundary conditions can be obtained by setting the values of specific stiffness parameters of the artificial springs. The Laplace transform technology is employed to work out the Green's functions for the beam with arbitrary boundary conditions. The Green's functions are obtained for the beam subject to external lateral force and external torque, respectively. Coupling effects between bending and torsional vibrations of the beam can be studied conveniently through these analytical Green's functions. The direct expressions of the steady-state responses with various loadings are obtained by using the superposition principle. The present Green's functions for the Timoshenko beam can be reduced to those for Euler–Bernoulli beam by setting the values of shear rigidity and rotational inertia. In order to demonstrate the validity of the Green's functions proposed, results obtained for special cases are given for a comparison with those given in the literature and they agree with each other exactly. The influences of external loading frequency and eccentricity on Green's functions of bending-torsion coupled Timoshenko beam are investigated in terms of the numerical results for both simply supported and cantilever beams. Moreover, the symmetric property of the Green's functions and the damping effects on the amplitude of Green's functions of the beam are discussed particularly.  相似文献

In this paper, we study reliability based measures and prognostic problems of a K-out-of-N system in which the failure process of each component depends not only on its intrinsic characteristic but also on its operating environment conditions. The system reliability and the expected remaining useful lifetime are calculated. Under the periodic inspection policy, the system asymptotic availability is derived. We aim at providing explicit expressions for these quantities. The model allows us to incorporate the observation information of the environment in the evaluation of the system performances. Numerical examples show the efficiency and accuracy of our method by comparing with the Monte-Carlo simulations. It is pointed out that the environment condition has significant effect on the system reliability based measures and the system prognostic analysis.  相似文献

Assuming the individual and collective opinions are given as choice functions, a new formalization of the voting problem is considered. The notions of a local functional operator and the closedness of domains in choice-functional space relative to local operators are introduced. The problem of voting is reduced to an analysis of three kinds of operator classes and their mutual relations.The functional analogues well known in the theory of Arrow's paradox results are established.  相似文献

In this paper we apply the theory for implicit Runge-Kutta methods presented by Stetter to a number of subclasses of methods that have recently been discussed in the literature. We first show how each of these classes can be expressed within this theoretical framework and from this we are able to establish a number of relationships among these classes. In addition to improving the current state of understanding of these methods, their expression within this theoretical framework makes it possible for us to obtain results giving general forms for their stability functions.This work was supported by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.  相似文献

We consider two classes of functions studied by Epstein [A.L. Epstein, Towers of finite type complex analytic maps, Ph.D. thesis, City University of New York, 1993] and by Herring [M.E. Herring, An extension of the Julia–Fatou theory of iteration, Ph.D. thesis, Imperial College, London, 1994], which have the Ahlfors' Property. We prove under some conditions on the Fatou and Julia sets that the singleton buried components are dense in the Julia set for these classes of functions.  相似文献

We consider extremal problems in the classes Eq, q≥1, in finitely connected domains and we establish a representation of extremal functions in terms of Green's and Neumann's functions. Certain Sobolev spaces of S 1-valued functions can be written as a disjoint union of homotopy classes. The problem of finding the distance between different homotopy classes in such spaces is considered. In particular, several types of one-dimensional and two-dimensional domains are studied. Lower bounds are derived for these distances. Furthermore, in many cases it is shown that the lower bounds are sharp but are not achieved. This work is an introduction to anisotropic spaces, which have an ω-weight of analytic functions and are generalizations of Lipshitz classes in the polydisc. We prove that these classes form an algebra and are invariant with respect to monomial multiplication. These classes are described in terms of derivatives. It is established that Toeplitz operators are bounded in these (Lipschitz and Djrbashian) spaces. As an application, a theorem about the division by good-inner functions in the mentioned classes is proved.  相似文献
