We present a study, within a mean-field approximation, of the dynamics of a spin-1 metamagnetic Ising system with bilinear and biquadratic interactions in the presence of a time-dependent oscillating external magnetic field. First, we employ the Glauber transition rates to construct the set of mean-field dynamic equations. Then, we study the time variation of the average order parameters to find the phases in the system. We also investigate the thermal behavior of dynamic order parameters to characterize the nature (first- or second-order) of the dynamic transitions. The dynamic phase transitions are obtained and the phase diagrams are constructed in two different the planes. The phase diagrams contain a disordered and ordered phases, and four different mixed phases that strongly depend on interaction parameters. Phase diagrams also display one or two dynamic tricritical points, a dynamic double critical end and dynamic quadruple points. A comparison is made with the results of the other metamagnetic Ising systems.  相似文献

Phase diagrams have been produced and critical exponents calculated for a Blume-Emery-Griffiths system with competing biquadratic and crystal-field interactions with uniform ferromagnetic bilinear interactions. This competition directly effects the clustering and density of nonmagnetic impurities. These results have been produced using renormalization-group methods with a hierarchical lattice. A series of planes of constant, repulsive biquadratic coupling have been probed while varying the temperature and concentration of annealed vacancies in the system. The sinks have been analyzed and interpreted, and critical exponents calculated for the higher order transitions.  相似文献

Dimerized phase and quantum entanglement are investigated in the one-dimensional spin-1 bilinear biquadratic model. Employing the infinite matrix product state representation, groundstate wavefunctions are numerically obtained by using the infinite time evolving block decimation method in the infinite lattice system. From a bipartite entanglement measure of the groundstates, i.e., von Neumann entropy, the phase transition points can be clearly extracted. Moreover, the even-bond and odd-bond von Neumann entropies show two different values in the spontaneous dimerized phase. It implies that the quantum entanglement can distinguish the two degenerate groundstates. Then, we define a dimer entropy in the spontaneous dimerized phase. Comparing to the dimer order parameter, the dimer entropy can play a role of a local order parameter to characterize the spontaneous dimerized phase.  相似文献

The phase diagrams of the transverse spin-1 Ising model with random interactions are investigated using a new technique in the effective field theory that employs a probability distribution within the framework of the single-site cluster theory based on the use of exact Ising spin identities. A model is adopted in which the nearest-neighbor exchange couplings are independent random variables distributed according to the law P(Jij)=(JijJ)+(1−p)δ(JijαJ). General formulae, applicable to lattices with coordination number N, are given. Numerical results are presented for a simple cubic lattice. The possible reentrant phenomenon displayed by the system due to the competitive effects between exchange interactions occurs for the appropriate range of the parameter α.  相似文献

The spin-1 Ising model with bilinear and quadrupolar short-range interactions under magnetic field is investigated within the two-particle cluster approximation. It is shown that for those values of the quadrupolar interaction when at zero magnetic field the system undergoes a temperature phase transition between quadrupolar and paramagnetic phases, a triple point may exist in the temperature vs. magnetic field phase diagrams, necessarily along with a critical point. It is also shown that the critical points in the temperature vs. magnetic field phase diagrams of the investigated model can be of three types.  相似文献

Stanley's exact results for a Bethe Lattice of classical spins of arbitrary dimensionality are generalized to include an arbitrary biquadratic interaction term. Simple expressions are obtained for both the nearest neighbor dipolar and quadrupolar correlation functions. It is shown that the system never displays long range order at any finite temperature. A modest amount of biquadratic excahnge can even prevent the system from ordering at T = 0°K. However, except for the linear chain, two distinct temperatures are found for the divergence of the dipolar and quadrupolar susceptibilities.  相似文献

In a previous work a model was proposed for the phase transitions of crystals with localized magnetic moments which at low temperature have a “conical” arrangement that at higher T transforms into a more symmetrical structure (depending on the compound) before becoming totally disordered. The model assumes bilinear and biquadratic interactions between magnetic moments up to the fifth neighbours, and for any given T the structure with the least free energy is obtained by a mean-field approximation (MFA). The interaction constants are derived from ab initio   energy calculations. In this work we improve upon that model modifying the MFA in such a way that a continuous (instead of discontinuous) spectrum of excited states is available to the system. In the previous work, which dealt with LaMn2Ge2LaMn2Ge2 and LaMn2Si2LaMn2Si2, we found that transitions to different structures can be obtained for increasing T, in good qualitative agreement with experiment. The critical temperatures, however, were exaggeratedly high. With the new MFA we obtain essentially the same behaviour concerning the phase transitions, and critical temperatures much closer to the experimental ones.  相似文献

Two layered magnetic Bethe lattice with varying coordination number q is introduced and numerically studied via exact recursion relations within a pairwise approach. The system is influenced by competing interlayer and intralayer nearest-neighbour (NN) coupling interactions and also by the crystal and external magnetic fields. Cases where both layers are ferromagnetic or one is ferro and the other antiferromagnetic are considered. System configurations’ energy calculations are used to devise some ground state phase diagrams that have proven useful for the investigation of the very low temperature behaviour of the model. Analysis of the thermal behaviours of the total magnetization within the model parameters’ space yield interesting phase diagrams which display fascinating properties, in particular the presence of tricritical points. Increasing negative values of the crystal field strength stabilizes the disordered paramagnetic phase and sometimes gives rise to wavy transition lines.  相似文献

Magnetic properties (magnetization curve, magnetization process, specific heat and paramagnetic susceptibility) of a diluted spin- Ising ferromagnet on a honeycomb lattice are examined by the use of the new formulation based on both the Ising spin identities and the differential operator technique. We find a number of characteristic phenomena, for the system with a negative value of the crystal-field constant in the special region. The physical background is also discussed.  相似文献

Two-layer Bethe lattice with the Ising spins of the top layer having only ferromagnetic (FM) interactions and the bottom layer having only antiferromagnetic (AFM) interactions are allowed to interact with the interlayer interaction of either FM or AFM type. The model is studied by using the exact recursion relations in a pairwise approach for given coordination numbers q=3, 4 and 6 with equal external magnetic fields acting on the layers. The phase diagrams of the model are obtained on different planes for given system parameters by studying the ground state (GS) phase diagrams and the thermal variations of the order-parameters and the response functions, i.e. the susceptibility and the specific heat, in detail. The model presents second- and first-order phase transitions, and where their lines are combined is the tricritical point. The critical end points also exist. The reentrant behavior is also seen when the model presents two Néel temperatures.  相似文献

The magnetic properties of a mixed spin ferrimagnetic system σ?=?1/2 and S?=?2 at the sites of a square lattice with a random crystal field are studied by the mean field approximation. The ground state of the system is determined and the total magnetization is plotted according to the model parameters. Different behaviors for the thermal dependence of the magnetization are highlighted. In particular, one sees the appearance of one or two compensating points and many types of phase diagrams with first and second order phase transition lines as well as isolated critical and tricritical points.  相似文献

A theoretical study of a mixed spin-1/2 and spin-3/2 Ising system with independent transverse fields is presented using an effective field method within the framework of a single-site cluster theory. In this approach the effective field equations are derived using a probability distribution method based on the use of generalized van der Waerden identities accounting exactly for the single-site kinematic relations. The effect of the transverse fields on the critical behaviour is studied. The thermal dependence of the longitudinal and transverse components of the magnetization and its higher moments is also studied.  相似文献

The three-dimensional spin-1 Ising superlattice consisting of two different ferromagnetic materials with two different crystal fields Δ1Δ1 and Δ2Δ2 is considered in the mean field approximation. The phase diagrams are considered in the (t,d2t,d2) plane for different ranges of variation of d1(t=T/J,d1=Δ1/Jd1(t=T/J,d1=Δ1/J, d2=Δ2/Jd2=Δ2/J are the reduced temperature and crystal fields respectively). The phase diagrams exhibit a variety of multicritical points and reentrant and double reentrant behaviours. They are found to depend qualitatively and/or quantitatively on the thicknesses of the materials in a supercell. This has direct consequences on the nature of the magnetic states of superlattices with different thicknesses.  相似文献

The mixed spin-1/2 and spin-1 Ising chain with both longitudinal and transverse single-ion anisotropies is solved exactly by means of a mapping to the spin-1/2 Ising chains with alternating transverse fields and the Jordan-Wigner transformation. Within this scheme, the thermodynamic quantities of this model are rigorously determined by a recursion formula derived for the partition function based on the reduced spin-1/2 transverse Ising model. The corresponding thermodynamic properties are calculated and discussed.  相似文献

We demonstrate explicitly that the impure one-dimensional n-vector model with bilinear and biquadratic exchange interactions can be solved exactly. Results are provided for the free energy, equal-time spin-spin correlation functions and the initial susceptibility of the corresponding bond and site model in the annealed and quenched limit. A numerical analysis of the thermodynamic response functions in the n = 3 case is performed, and therein some interesting consequences of the simultaneous influence of the biquadratic interactions and impurities are established. The presence of the biquadratic interaction is interpreted as an effect of the lattice compressibility.  相似文献

A spin-1 model, appropriated to study the competition between bilinear (J ij S i S j ) and biquadratic (K ij S i 2 S j 2) random interactions, both of them with zero mean, is investigated. The interactions are infinite-ranged and the replica method is employed. Within the replica-symmetric assumption, the system presents two phases, namely, paramagnetic and spin-glass, separated by a continuous transition line. The stability analysis of the replica-symmetric solution yields, besides the usual instability associated with the spin-glass ordering, a new phase due to the random biquadratic couplings between the spins. Using an effective field theory with correlations, magnetic properties of an octahedral chain described by a mixed spin Ising model are investigated. Unique phenomena such as multiple hysteresis loops, saturation magnetization, and reverse flip of the magnetization plateaus occur when certain typical parameters are applied. These results may be helpful to further investigate the magnetic properties of one-dimensional systems and could potentially be utilized in the design of spin devices.  相似文献
