Carleman estimates for one-dimensional degenerate heat equations   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In this paper, we are interested in controllability properties of parabolic equations degenerating at the boundary of the space domain. We derive new Carleman estimates for the degenerate parabolic equation $$ w_t + \left( {a\left( x \right)w_x } \right)_x = f,\quad \left( {t,x} \right) \in \left( {0,T} \right) \times \left( {0,1} \right), $$ where the function a mainly satisfies $$ a \in \mathcal{C}^0 \left( {\left[ {0,1} \right]} \right) \cap \mathcal{C}^1 \left( {\left( {0,1} \right)} \right),a \gt 0 \hbox{on }\left( {0,1} \right) \hbox{and }\frac{1} {{\sqrt a }} \in L^1 \left( {0,1} \right). $$ We are mainly interested in the situation of a degenerate equation at the boundary i.e. in the case where a(0)=0 and / or a(1)=0. A typical example is a(x)=xα (1 − x)β with α, β ∈ [0, 2). As a consequence, we deduce null controllability results for the degenerate one dimensional heat equation $$ u_t - (a(x)u_x )_x = h\chi _w ,\quad (t,x) \in (0,T) \times (0,1),\quad \omega \subset \subset (0,1). $$ The present paper completes and improves previous works [7, 8] where this problem was solved in the case a(x)=xα with α ∈[0, 2). We consider evolution equations of the form $$\begin{aligned} \dot{u}(t)+{\mathcal {A}}(t)u(t)=0,\ \ t\in [0,T],\ \ u(0)=u_0, \end{aligned}$$where $${\mathcal {A}}(t),\ t\in [0,T],$$ are associated with a non-autonomous sesquilinear form $${\mathfrak {a}}(t,\cdot ,\cdot )$$ on a Hilbert space H with constant domain $$V\subset H.$$ In this note we continue the study of fundamental operator theoretical properties of the solutions. We give a sufficient condition for norm-continuity of evolution families on each spaces V, H and on the dual space $$V'$$ of V. The abstract results are applied to a class of equations governed by time dependent Robin boundary conditions on exterior domains and by Schrödinger operator with time dependent potentials.  相似文献

Let X be a compact convex set and let ext X stand for the set of extreme points of X. We show that if $$f:X\rightarrow {\mathbb {R}}$$ is an affine function with the point of continuity property such that $$f\le 0$$ on $${\text {ext}}\,X$$, then $$f\le 0$$ on X. As a corollary of this minimum principle, we obtain a generalization of a theorem by C.H. Chu and H.B. Cohen by proving the following result. Let X, Y be compact convex sets such that every extreme point of X and Y is a weak peak point and let $$T:\mathfrak {A}^c(X)\rightarrow \mathfrak {A}^c(Y)$$ be an isomorphism such that $$\left\| T\right\| \cdot \left\| T^{-1}\right\| <2$$. Then $${\text {ext}}\,X$$ is homeomorphic to $${\text {ext}}\,Y$$.  相似文献

Just as complete lattices can be viewed as the completions of posets, quantales can also be treated as the completions of partially ordered semigroups. Motivated by the study on the well-known Frink completions of posets, it is natural to consider the “Frink” completions for the case of partially ordered semigroups. For this purpose, we firstly introduce the notion of precoherent quantale completions of partially ordered semigroups, and construct the concrete forms of three types of precoherent quantale completions of a partially ordered semigroup. Moreover, we obtain a sufficient and necessary condition of the Frink completion on a partially ordered semigroup being a precoherent quantale completion. Finally, we investigate the injectivity in the category $$\mathbf {APoSgr}_{\le }$$ of algebraic partially ordered semigroups and their submultiplicative directed-supremum-preserving maps, and show that the $$\mathscr {E}_{\le }$$-injective objects of algebraic partially ordered semigroups are precisely the precoherent quantales, here $$\mathscr {E}_{\le }$$ denote the class of morphisms $$h:A\longrightarrow B$$ that preserve the compact elements and satisfy that $$h(a_1)\cdots h(a_n)\le h(b)$$ always implies $$a_1\cdots a_n\le b$$.  相似文献

In this paper, we show that for a positive operator A on a Hilbert \(C^*\)-module \( \mathscr {E} \), the range \( \mathscr {R}(A) \) of A is closed if and only if \( \mathscr {R}(A^\alpha ) \) is closed for all \(\alpha \in (0,1)\cup (1,+\,\infty )\), and this occurs if and only if \( \mathscr {R}(A)=\mathscr {R}(A^\alpha ) \) for all \(\alpha \in (0,1)\cup (1,+\,\infty )\). As an application, we prove that for an adjontable operator A if \(\mathscr {R}(A)\) is nonclosed, then \(\dim \left( \overline{\mathscr {R}(A)}/\mathscr {R}(A)\right) =+\,\infty \). Finally, we show that for an adjointable operator A if \( \overline{\mathscr {R}(A^*) } \) is orthogonally complemented in \( \mathscr {E} \), then under certain coditions there exists an idempotent C and a unique operator X such that \( XAX=X, AXA=CA, AX=C \) and \( XA=P_{A^*} \), where \( P_{A^*} \) is the orthogonal projection of \( \mathscr {E} \) onto \( \overline{\mathscr {R}(A^*)}\).  相似文献

We use a variant of Grothendieck’s comparison theorem to show that, for a Fredholm tuple TL(X)n on a complex Banach space, there are isomorphisms . We conclude that a Fredholm tuple TL(X)n satisfies Bishop’s property (β) at z = 0 if and only if the vanishing conditions hold for . We apply these observations and results from commutative algebra to show that a graded tuple on a Hilbert space is Fredholm if and only if it satisfies Bishop’s property (β) at z = 0 and that, in this case, its cohomology groups can grow at most like kp. We study the asymptotic behaviour of solutions of the stochastic abstract Cauchy problem $$ \left\{ {\begin{array}{*{20}l} {dU\left( t \right) = AU\left( t \right)dt + BdW_H \left( t \right),\quad t \geqslant 0,} \hfill\ {U\left( 0 \right) = 0,} \hfill\ \end{array}} \right. $$ where A is the generator of a C0-semigroup on a Banach space E, WH is a cylindrical Brownian motion over a separable Hilbert space H, and $$ B \in \user1{\mathscr L}\left( {H,E} \right) $$ is a bounded operator. Assuming the existence of a solution U, we prove that a unique invariant measure exists if the resolvent R(λ, A) is R-bounded in the right half-plane {Reλ > 0}, and that conversely the existence of an invariant measure implies the R-boundedness of R(λ, A)B in every half-plane properly contained in {Re λ > 0}. We study various abscissae related to the above problem and show, among other things, that the abscissa of R-boundedness of the resolvent of A coincides with the abscissa corresponding to the existence of invariant measures for all γ -radonifying operators B provided the latter abscissa is finite. For Hilbert spaces E this result reduces to the Gearhart-Herbst-Prüss theorem. Dedicated to Giuseppe Da Prato on the occasion of his 70th birthday  相似文献

Let Γ = SL(n, ℤ) or any subgroup of finite index, n ≥ 4. We show that the standard action of Γ on n is locally rigid, i.e., every action of Γ on n by C diffeomorphisms which is sufficiently close to the standard action is conjugate to the standard action by a C diffeomorphism. In the course of the proof, we obtain a global rigidity result (Theorem 4.12) for actions of free abelian subgroups of maximal rank in SL(n, ℤ). Partially supported by NSF grant DMS9011749.  相似文献

We develop a Hilbert module version of the Haagerup property for general C*-algebras ${{\mathcal{A} \subseteq \mathcal{B}}}$ . We show that if ${\alpha : \Gamma \curvearrowright \mathcal{A}}$ is an action of a countable discrete group Γ on a unital C*-algebra ${\mathcal{A}}$ , then the reduced C*-algebra crossed product ${\Gamma \ltimes _{\alpha, r} \mathcal{A}}$ has the Hilbert ${\mathcal{A}}$ -module Haagerup property if and only if the action α has the Haagerup property. We are particularly interested in the case when ${\mathcal{A} = C(X)}$ is a unital commutative C*-algebra. We compare the Haagerup property of such an action ${\alpha: \Gamma \curvearrowright C(X)}$ with the two special cases when (1) Γ has the Haagerup property and (2) Γ is coarsely embeddable into a Hilbert space. We also prove a contractive Schur mutiplier characterization for groups coarsely embeddable into a Hilbert space, and a uniformly bounded Schur multiplier characterization for exact groups.  相似文献

We consider the value distribution of Hurwitz zeta-functions at the nontrivial zeros ϱ= β + iγ of the Riemann zeta-function ζ (s):= ζ (s, 1). Using the method of Conrey, Ghosh and Gonek we prove for fixed 0< α< 1 andHT that
with some absolute constantC > 0 (a similar result was first proved by Fujii [4] under assumption of the Riemann hypothesis). It follows that is an entire function if and only if α = 1/2 or α = l. Further, we prove for α ≠ 1/2, 1 the existence of zeros ϱ = β +iγ withT < γ ≤T + T3/4, 1/2 β ≤ 9/10+ ε and ζ(ϱ,α)≠0.  相似文献

It is proved that an irreducible quasifinite -module is a highest or lowest weight module or a module of the intermediate series; a uniformly bounded indecomposable weight -module is a module of the intermediate series. For a nondegenerate additive subgroup Λ ofF n, whereF is a field of characteristic zero, there is a simple Lie or associative algebraW(Λ,n)(1) spanned by differential operatorsuD 1 m …D 1 m foruF[Γ] (the group algebra), andm i≥0 with , whereD i are degree operators. It is also proved that an indecomposable quasifinite weightW(Λ,n)(1)-module is a module of the intermediate series if Λ is not isomorphic to ℤ.
