The role of aluminum alloying on strength properties and deformation mechanisms (slip, twinning) of 〈123〉 single crystals of Hadfield steel under tensile loading at T = 300 K is demonstrated. We have used luminescence spectroscopy to establish the effect of low-temperature (100 K) elastic uniaxial strain on the configuration of a self-localized exciton (SLE) in alkali halide crystals (AHCs) at the instant of radiative relaxation. In face-centered (fc) alkali halide crystals, redistribution of the luminescence intensity occurs from the asymmetric SLE configuration to the symmetric SLE configuration (type III → II → I), while conversely in body-centered (bc) alkali halide crystals the redistribution occurs in favor of the asymmetric (polarized) SLE configuration (type I → II). External strain along the 〈100〉 direction leads to effective slip of the anions in the alkali halide crystals along the 〈110〉 direction, coinciding with the direction of compression of the SLE, which promotes creation of preferentially the symmetric SLE configuration, while strain along the 〈110〉 direction, acting perpendicularly to the length of the SLE, leads to elongation of the SLE, which promotes creation of the asymmetric SLE configuration with a higher degree of polarization. __________ Translated from Zhurnal Prikladnoi Spektroskopii, Vol. 74, No. 1, pp. 67–72, January–February, 2007.  相似文献

We used fluorescence spectroscopy and nanosecond flash photolysis to study the photophysical properties of the laser dye 4-dicyanomethylene-2-methyl-6-(p-dimethylamino)styryl-4H-pyran (DCM) and its two fluoro derivatives: (E)-2-〈2-[2-(4-dimethylaminophenyl)ethenyl]-6-trifluoromethyl-4H-4-pyranylidene〉malononitrile (DCMF3) and (E)-2-〈2-[2-(4-dimethylaminophenyl)ethenyl]-6-n-heptafluoro-propyl-4H-4-pyranylidene〉 malononitrile (DCMF7), in nonpolar n-hexane, mixtures of low-polarity toluene and polar dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO), n-propanol at room temperature and at 77 K. The fluorescence quantum yield Φfl of the laser dye DCM increases linearly as the polarity of the binary solvent mixture (toluene+DMSO) increases, from 0.08 in toluene to 0.80 in DMSO. The dependence of Φfl on the polarity of the mixture toluene+DMSO for DCMF3 and DCMF7 reaches a maximum for a small amount (∼2 vol.%) of added polar DMSO; and with further increase in the DMSO concentration (≥50 vol.%), the fluorescence of the fluoro derivatives of DCM is practically completely quenched. The quantum yield for intersystem crossing ΦST for DCM, DCMF3, and DCMF7 is no greater than 0.01 in solutions of different polarities. QCD sum rules predict that the change of the strange quark condensate 〈ˉss〉 in hadron matter at finite baryon density causes a shift of the peak position of the di-electron spectra from φ-meson decays. Due to the expansion of hadron matter in heavy-ion collisions, the φ peak suffers a smearing governed by the interval of density in the expanding fireball, which appears as an effective broadening of the di-electron spectrum in the φ region. The emerging broadening is sensitive to the in-medium change of 〈ˉss〉. This allows to probe directly in-medium modifications of 〈ˉss〉 via di-electron spectra in heavy-ion collisions at SIS energies with HADES. We present the results of new studies of the sporadic E layer in the case of heating of the ionosphere by high-power HF radio emission. The measurements were performed at the “Sura” heating facility. Ionosphere was modified by high-power radio emission from the “Sura” facility and was sounded by the probing radio waves of the same frequency and mode. The heating of the ionosphere resulted in the formation of artificial periodic inhomogeneities, and an increase in the intensity of all signals scattered by the D, E, and F regions and the sporadic E layer by 5–20 dB was observed. The increase was observed during heating of the ionosphere by each magnetoionic component, but was smaller for heating by an ordinary-mode wave. This effect was resonant and disappeared as a result of the frequency detuning down to 85 kHz. We present results of observations of 23 compact cores of molecular clouds associated with IRAS “ cold” infrared sources. The observations were performed in the J = 1−0 line of the C18O molecule on a 13.7-meter radio telescope of the Purple Mountain Observatory, China. The C18O (J = 1−0) line was detected in the emission of 21 objects. Column densities of the C18O and H2 molecules towards the maximum of integral intensity of the C18O emission were estimated in the approximation of local thermodynamic equilibrium and amounted to (2.5–10.4) · 1015cm−2 and (1.5–6.1) · 1022 cm−2, respectively. The kinetic temperatures determined for these maxima from the CO lines vary from 14 to 45 K. For six objects, whose mapping has been almost completed, the dimensions of the C18O emission regions are estimated to range from 0.5 to 1.2 pc. The masses of these objects lie in the range of (390–1750) M and are close to the estimates following from the virial theorem. We present experimental results obtained on meteor radio links with lengths of 100 and 250 km. The advantage of the “lateral propagation” is demonstrated. Using the “KAMET” computer model, we simulated the propagation of radiowaves along radio links, of up to 600 km. 74Ge beam was Coulomb-excited on a natPb target. Ten E2 matrix elements including diagonal matrix elements for 5 low-lying states have been determined using the least-squares search code GOSIA. The expectation values of the rotational invariants 〈Q 2〉 and 〈cos3δ〉 show the small and triaxial deformation of the two lowest members of the ground-state band , while the 02 + and 22 + states are found to be almost spherical. In the path-integral formulation of quantum mechanics, the phase factor e iS(x〈t〉) is associated with every path xt〉. Summing this factor over all paths yields Feynman's propagator as a sum-over-paths. In the original formulation, the complex phase was a mathematical device invoked to extract wave behaviour in a particle framework. For the last 70 years, the authenticity of disputable marble objects has been tested by using a black light lamp. According to empirical observations “fresh marbles are purple while ancient ones are blue under the lamp”. This discrimination lacks scientific basis but is very popular because sculptured stone dating is impossible. This work aims to test the reliability of the “UV method” by studying the laser excited photoluminescence (PL) of marble surfaces. An argon ion laser beam was focused through a microscope objective onto the sample, offering a PL spatial resolution of 3 μm. Newly-cut marbles show an intense emission at 610 nm ascribed to Mn2+ and a less intense one at 390 nm. Excavated surfaces show the 610 nm emission and a broadband (380–530 nm) one. Similar broadband emissions due to humic (HAs) and fulvic acids (FAs) are typical in soil PL spectra and were observed in the spectra of samples taken from the soil surrounding the excavated surfaces. Additionally, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra of excavated surfaces show a peak at g=2.0045, typical in calcite doped with humic acids. We presume that the 380–550 nm emission originates from HA and FA salts existing in the infiltrated soil or the recrystallised calcite developed in marble patinas. Finally, the application of the “UV method” on twelve ancient and modern surfaces proved that the technique is only partly reliable and should be used together with other analytical techniques. We discuss the capabilities of VLBI studies of irregularities of the solar-wind plasma using multi-element radio interferometric facilities. We analyze the data obtained during international VLBI experiments at decimeter wavelengths (92 and 18 cm) in 1994–1996 and supposed that the irregularities have a “stream” structure. The “streams” are strongly elongated in the solar-wind direction (longitudinal size of about a few hundred thousand kilometers) and have the transverse size of about 0.5–2.0 thousand kilometers. The irregularities inside a single “stream” are almost isotropic. We discuss the restrictions imposed on operation of decimeter VLBI systems due to effects of the interplanetary medium. Crystal blocking lifetime measurements have been made for highly excited Th nuclei with neutron number well removed from the stability line. Thin W crystals were bombarded with 32S ions in the energy range 170-180 MeV and the yield of fission fragments was measured for emission close to a 〈111〉 axis. The fission blocking dips are compared to the appropriately scaled ones for elastic scattering of the 32S beam ions and no significant difference is seen between the dips. This implies that the fraction of nuclei fissioning with lifetimes longer than 10 as is less than 2%. Fission lifetimes are increased by viscosity in the nuclear mass flow and comparison with a statistical model calculation indicates that the viscosity parameter, η, must be lower than for Th and U nuclei near β-stability. We present the results of an experiment on the generation of extremely low-frequency (ELF) electromagnetic fields at frequencies near the first Schumann resonance upon the ionosphere modification by modulated powerful radio emission. The reception was performed at two sites spaced by 14 km in the distance from “SURA” facility. It was found that the natural noise at different reception sites is highly correlated, which allows one to achieve the noise suppression by about an order of magnitude by subtracting the measurement results. We demonstrate the opportunities of spatial discrimination of the interference upon the two-site reception of the “small-scale” field of an artificial ionospheric source. We propose a method for recording of energy parameters of cosmic radio emission in spectral lines, differing in the principle of amplitude calibration of the reception-measurement channel. This method does not require the use of additional channels of signal-power measurement and reduces the source observation time required for extraction of a signal from noise and its recording. Radio emission is recorded using a standard high-sensitivity receiver of the RT-32 radio telescope and a digital spectrum analyzer based on the fast Fourier transform. We consider two variants of the recording system: a variant with off-shelf general-purpose spectrum analyzers (e.g., NI-5620), which use PC processors, and a variant with high-speed specialized analyzers based on programmable logical devices. The system with an XC4VLX25 integrated-circuit analyzer is operated in a frequency band of up to 32 MHz and has a minimum response time, which makes it possible to minimize the source observation time. The spectrum recording system developed at the Institute of Applied Astronomy of the Russian Academy of Sciences and “Radioelectronic Technological Equipment Ltd” and supported by a project of the Russian Science Agency was put into service in the “Svetloe” radioastronomical observatory in 2006. Large quantities of high-purity crystalline β-SiC nanowires have been synthesized at relatively low temperature via a new simple method, the chemical-vapor-reaction approach, in a home-made graphite reaction cell. A mixture of milled Si and SiC powders and C3H6 were employed as the starting materials. The results show that the nanowires with diameters of about 10–35 nm are single crystalline β-SiCwithout any wrapping of amorphous material, and the nanowire axes lie along the 〈111〉 direction. Some unique properties are found in the Raman scattering from the β-SiC nanowires, which are different from previous observations of β-SiC materials. We present the results of comprehensive studies of the spatio-temporal structure of the artificial ionospheric plasma turbulence created by powerful radio emission over the “Sura” heating facility. The elaborated methods of the transmitter-receiver operation control, wide-band signal recording, digital filtering and spectral analysis of the stimulated electromagnetic emissions and short radio pulses are used for diagnostics. Based on a micromagnetics model, we develop a method through which quantitative information on the volume-averaged mean-square magnetostatic stray field 〈|H b d|2 v due to non-zero divergences of the magnetization M within the bulk of a ferromagnetic body can be obtained by analysis of magnetic-field-dependent small-angle neutron scattering data. In the limit of high applied magnetic field H a, when the direction of M deviates only sligthly from H a, we have estimated a lower bound for 〈|H b d|2 v as a function of the external field, and we have applied the method to bulk samples of nanocrystalline electrodeposited Ni and Co and coarse-grained polycrystalline cold-worked Ni. The root-mean-square magnetostatic stray field, which is inherent to a particular magnetic microstructure, shows a pronounced field dependence, with values ranging from about 5 to 50mT. Even at applied fields as large as 1.7T, the quantity μ〈|H b d|21/2 v of nanocrystalline Co is still 24mT, which suggests that contributions to the total magnetostatic field originating from the bulk are significant in nanocrystalline ferromagnets; therefore, 〈|H b d|2 v cannot be ignored in the interpretation of e.g. measurements of magnetization or spin-wave resonance. A comparison of 〈|H b d|2 v with the volume-averaged mean-square anisotropy field reveals that both quantities are of comparable magnitude. We describe the operation of an ionosonde/position finder with chirp modulation of the signal. The first results of measuring the characteristics of short-wave radio signals scattered by artificial small-scale inhomogeneities, which were obtained by means of an ionosonde/position finder on the IZMIRAN—“SURA”—Rostov-on-Don path are presented. It was found that under certain ionospheric conditions, the angular and frequency selection of the scattered signals take place, in which case the signals are observed simultaneously in several frequency intervals (mainly, in three, namely, 6–9.5 MHz, 10–12 MHz, and 15–18 MHz) with different angles of incidence of radio waves in the vertical plane. In this case, the incidence angles were 20◦–35◦, 18◦–32◦, and 10◦–20◦ from the horizon for the first, second, and third frequency interval, respectively. Ionograms of oblique sounding were modeled allowing for the scattering of radio waves by artificial small-scale inhomogeneities. It is shown that at frequencies from 10 to 12 MHz, aspect conditions are fulfilled for the signals ducting along the high-angle beam (Pedersen mode). At frequencies 15–18 MHz (higher than the maximum observable frequency of the forward signal on the path IZMIRAN—Rostov-on-Don), aspect scattering conditions are fulfilled for the signals incident on a scattering area in the ascending part of the trajectory. At low frequencies 6–9.5 MHz (below the maximum observed frequency of the forward signal on the IZMIRAN—Rostov-on-Don path), the observable additional signals are caused by the scattering of radio waves by artificial inhomogeneities with subsequent relfection of the scattered signal from the Earth on the “SURA”—Rostov-on-Don path. The hypothesis of coupling between spin and rotation introduced long ago by Mashhoon is examined in the context of “1 + 3” and “3 + 1” space-time splitting techniques, either in special or in general relativity. Its content is discussed in terms of classical (Mathisson–Papapetrou–Dixon–Souriou model) as well as quantum physics (Foldy–Wouthuysen transformation for the Dirac field in an external field), reviewing and discussing all the relevant theoretical literature concerning the existence of such effect.
