We show that the quantum Loschmidt echo can be employed to characterize the dynamical phase transition, from a tunnelling phase to a self-trapping phase, of a Bose-Einstein condensate in a double-well potential. The echo is found to have a relatively fast decay in the transition region, with a Gaussian decay in the self-trapping phase and a stretched exponential decay in the tunnelling phase.  相似文献

The dynamics and stabilities of Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) trapped in a deep one-dimensional periodic optical lattices with three-body interactions are investigated. By using the tight-binding approximation, the Bloch and the Bogoliubov excitation stabilities and the dynamics of the BEC wavepacket with the effects of the three-body interactions are studied. The critical conditions for occurrence of the dynamical/Landau instabilities, self-trapping/diffusion/breather of wavepacket, and localized soliton are obtained analytically. The results show that the boundaries of the dynamical instability and Landau instability are modified significantly due to the presence of the three-body interactions. It is also revealed that, the initial wavepacket width, the initial momentum, especially, the strength of the three-body force have strong effect on the critical conditions which are used to describe the dynamics of the wavepacket. It is shown that the regions of self-trapping, diffusion, and breather for BEC wavepacket in the parameter space are modified dramatically by the three-body interactions. The analytical results are confirmed by the direct numerical solutions of the discrete GPE.  相似文献

We present an approximate analytical solution to the population imbalance of two-component Bose-Einstein condensate with the coupling drive. The dependence of the time evolution of self-trapping upon the radio frequency wave, the Rabi coupling frequency, the initial atom number and relative phase between two condensates are investigated. The lower radio frequency wave, the same atom number and initial relative phase between condensates are beneficial to observe the self-trapping.  相似文献

Effects of the traps are investigated on the dynamics of two coupled Bose-Einstein condensates, and the atom population transfer between the two condensates is discussed. It is found that the traps and the initial condition determine the switching and self-trapping effects on the atom population imbalance. There are the critical potential amplitude and the critical potential width, by which the oscillation manner of the population transferring ratio can be analyzed as time changes.  相似文献

The Josephson equations for a Bose Einstein Condensate gas trapped in a double-well potential are derived with the two-mode approximation by the Gross Pitaevskii equation. The dynamical characteristics of the equations are obtained by the numerical phase diagrams. The nonlinear self-trapping effect appeared in the phase diagrams are emphatically discussed, and the condition EcN 〉 4E3 is presented.  相似文献

研究了双势阱玻色-爱因斯坦凝聚体系(BEC)的自俘获现象(self-trapping). 在平均场近似下通过相平面(phase space)分析的方法研究了两种自俘获的机理:1)势阱中的粒子数在平衡位置附近振动,而相对相位随时间单调变化(running-phase); 2) 势阱中的粒子数和相对相位都在平衡点附近振动. 研究了周期调制场对自俘获现象的影响,发现发生自俘获现象的相变参数能够被周期场非常有效的调制,从而在弱相互作用BEC体系中也可以观察到自俘获现象. 还研究了多体量子涨落对自俘获现象的影响,讨论了在现有的实验条件下对凝聚体自俘获现象进行观察和周期调制. 关键词: 玻色-爱因斯坦凝聚 自俘获 双势阱 周期调制  相似文献

推导了光束在半导体光折变介质的光子晶格中演化的二能级形式, 给出了光束在其中传播时二能级方程的经典正则形式. 解析计算出了经典正则方程的不动点并对其稳定性作了分析, 计算出了拓扑结构变化的临界值. 根据二能级方程的经典正则形式做出了空间相图, 进一步分析了半导体光折变介质中光束传输的自囚禁现象, 发现有两种形式的自囚禁: 1)能级中的布居数差和相对相位都在平衡点附近振动; 2)能级中的布居数差在平衡点附近振动, 而相对相位单调变化. 分别从高频、低频、中频三个方面研究了外加周期调制对自囚禁的影响, 发现在高频调制中发生自囚禁现象的相变参数能够被周期场非常有效的调制, 使得光束在半导体光折变介质中传输时, 在非线性效应影响较小时也能够发生自囚禁. 关键词: 半导体光折变介质 自囚禁 二能级形式 周期调制  相似文献

We investigate the dynamics of a weakly open Bose-Einstein condensate with attractive interaction in a magneto-optical double-well trap. A set of time-dependent ordinary differential equations describing the complex dynamics are derived by using a two-mode approximation. The stability of the stationary solution is analyzed and some stability regions on the parameter space are displayed. In the symmetric well case, the numerical calculations reveal that by adjusting the feeding from the nonequilibrium thermal cloud or the two-body dissipation rate, the system could transit among the periodic motions, chaotic self-trapping states of the Lorenz model, and the steady states with the zero relative atomic population or with the macroscopic quantum self-trapping (MQST). In the asymmetric well case, we find the periodic orbit being a stable two-sided limited cycle with MQST. The results are in good agreement with that of the direct numerical simulations to the Gross-Pitaevskii equation.  相似文献

We present a mean-field model to study the tunneling dynamics between initially separated two-component Bose condensates in a time-dependent double-well potential. We solve the model in terms of a completely numerical procedure. In contrast to the usual Josephson effect between two coherently separated single-component condensates, we find that this system sustains a macroscopic quantum self-trapping even for sufficiently weak interatomic interactions and small initial population imbalance far below the critical value.  相似文献

We consider a Bose-Einstein condensate of ultracold atoms loaded into a square optical lattice and subject to a static force. For vanishing atom-atom interactions the atoms perform periodic Bloch oscillations for arbitrary direction of the force. We study stability of these oscillations for non-vanishing interactions, which is shown to depend on an alignment of the force vector with respect to the lattice crystallographic axes. If the force is aligned along any of the axes, the mean field approach can be used to identify the stability conditions. On the contrary, for a misaligned force one has to employ the microscopic approach, which predicts periodic modulation of Bloch oscillations in the limit of a large forcing.  相似文献

The periodic spin domains of spinor Bose-Einstein condensates confined in a one-dimensional optical lattice are studied in terms of the equation of motion of the spinor which is reduced to the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with the help of Holstein-Primakoff transformation. It is shown that the spin domains obtained analytically can be easily controlled by adjusting the light-induced dipole-dipole interaction, which is realizable in optical lattice created by red-detuned laser beams with modulating intensity. The dynamical stability of the spin domains is also demonstrated.  相似文献

We study the effect of a one dimensional optical lattice in a cavity field with quantum properties on the superfluid dynamics of a Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC). In the cavity the influence of atomic backaction and the external driving pump become important and modify the optical potential. Due to the coupling between the condensate wavefunction and the cavity modes, the cavity light field develops a band structure. This study reveals that the pump and the cavity emerges as a new handle to control the superfluid properties of the BEC.  相似文献

With the help of a set of exact closed-form solutions to the stationary Gross Pitaevskii equation, we compre-hensively investigate Landau and dynamical instabilities of a Bose-Einstein condensate in a periodic array of quantum wells. In the tight-binding limit, the anaiyticai expressions for both Landau and dynamical instabilities are obtained in terms of the compressibility and effective mass of the BEC system. Then the stability phase diagrams are shown to be similar to the one in the case of the sinusoidal optical lattice.  相似文献

Intensity-independent self-trapping of optical beams in photorefractive crystals was found recently. But we show that due to the existence of dark conductivity in some photorefractive materials or coherent and non-coherent background irradiance, the self-trapping of weak optical beams in photorefractive materials, such as SBN, becomes intensity dependent. The threshold condition of the applied external de electric field for self-trapping is determined as function of the material parameters as well as the initial transverse sizes and relative intensities of the beams.  相似文献

We consider matter-wave bright solitons in the presence of three-body atomic recombination, an axial periodic modulation and a feeding term, and use a variational method to derive conditions to have dynamically stabilized solitons due to compensation between the dissipation and alimentation of atoms from external sources. We critically examine how the BEC soliton is affected by the imbalance between the internal atom loss and external feeding. We pay special attention to study the influence of these terms on the soliton dynamics in optical lattice potentials that cause periodic modulation.  相似文献

Efficient frequency-doubling is experimentally demonstrated in presence of beam self-trapping in congruent lithium niobate crystal. The self-trapping is induced by the generated second harmonic beam via photorefractive effect under an external applied field. The local space charge field distribution, formed by the second harmonic beam, is shown to efficiently trap both wavelengths. The dynamics of self-focusing is studied along with the power evolution of the second harmonic beam. Fast tuning of phase matching conditions in the written waveguide is realized by an externally applied voltage also used for the photorefractive confinement.  相似文献

Interacting bilayers placed in perpendicular magnetic field exhibit a peculiar quantum Hall state (QHS) at total filling factor ν=1, owing to the carrier-carrier interaction in the two layers. The physics of the ν=1 QHS is similar to that of the many-particle ground state of a superconductor. Unlike conventional superconductors, however, in the ν=1 QHS carriers in one layer pair with vacancies in the opposite layer forming charge neutral particles which flow without dissipation at the lowest temperatures. Here we review the experimental evidence supporting this picture, with an emphasis on magnetotransport in interacting GaAs hole bilayers in a configuration where equal and opposite currents are passed in the two layers.  相似文献
